The '80s was a great decade for movies in general. And I have to say a lot of my all-time favorite horror comes from this time. Now akin to my 80s Sci-fi vid. I'm gonna be mixing some of the less well-known cult classics with a few of the more popular films from the period.

Have to rep “I, Madman(1989),” as not only does it star the lovely Jenny Wright, from Near Dark, but it’s criminally unknown.
It is hard to explain, but if you haven’t seen it I’d highly recommend checking it out.
@Hyperdriveuk the steven king version of "the shining" the 3 parter, is 1000 better than Stanley Kuperick's very limited version.
Why have you stopped making videos?!
It's a pitty this channel died I really loved the ideas for what sci fi movies to watch next
Sooooo is he gone or what?
Near Dark is definitely a hidden gem. It deserves more recognition.
It's really weird how off the radar it is.
Well, well, well, let's find out. Many movies I haven't seen are here.
@@gildardorodriguez4356 I love Hyper Drive's videos but unfortunately I've usually seen every single one he lists. I always check in because sometimes he covers something I haven't seen yet.
Fuck yea bro near dark is great
Near Dark doesn’t get enough credit for how influential it was.
Where'd you go?
where you at man?
Its been a year.
i would add in the 80s version of The Thing to this list.
I miss you!!! Love your genre videos so much 🙏🏽 come back soon!
I was a big fan of your videos... Really miss them, hope you are okay man
Maniac 1980 , Pieces 1982 , Next of Kin 1985 , The House by the Cemetery 1981 Eyes Of A Stranger 1981 are some of my favorites ones from the 80s not mentioned but I really liked this list got alot of love for The Shinning and Evil Dead 2
the fact that he has abrutbly vbeing radio silent for almost 3 years from all of his social media has me worried that something might of actually happen to him
You Gotta Love a channel that does your requests BEFORE you even make the request!!! Thanks HD!!!
Another awesome list HyperDrive!
Glad you like them!
Cheers, buddy! It's good to see you're still alive and still producing. It's a tough time in the world and I've been praying for you. Stay strong! :-)
Cheers Hemo, I appreciate it! I think I should be able to release a vid every 7-10 days fingers crossed!
2 80s hidden gems: Lifeforce and The Keep.
Lifeforce is great that and the NES game of the same name lol. I haven't watched the keep in some time. Not since my Michael Mann binge session.
The Keep is great! Loved the original novel by F. Paul Wilson, too.
Amityville 2 is a fantastic 80s horror movie
Totally Awesome! 👍🏻
Here's hoping this here is part 1 of 18 because I love your lists.
That's the plan batman!
Another great vid mate!!
Perhaps a "best of" Full Moon Features (Castle Freak, Subspecies, Tourist Trap, Puppet Master, Dollman, Trancers, Robot Jox, Dr. Mordrid, etc)
I don't know about other people, but I loved Robot Jox.
The TV movie Werewolf had a good deal of publicity when it came out as part of the debuting Fox network, but it is a hidden gem at this point...and one worth finding. Great performances, an eerie, otherworldly atmosphere, a great, likable main character and a totally loathsome villain played by the great Chuck Connors.
What a great list, not heard of Near Dark. Where is part 2?
Paperhouse may be my favorite horror movie of the 80's and, despite getting full stars from Roger Ebert and the director going on to Candyman, the movie has not been released on a legit Region 1 DVD/Bluray!!!
I've been looking for a horror film that I recall as a adolescent for years now. It's either a 80s or early 90s horror film about either tourists or archaeologists who stumble across an Egyptian princess's tomb and unleash her. She is a demon and wrecks havoc. I believe I remember the princess having shiny eyes like diamonds. It's not the charleston heston movie, the awakening. Does anyone know what this film was called? Thank you.
Queen of The Damed, maybe?
@@angelawarren2567 I found out the name is called "The Tomb"
@@aardvarkhendricks6555 It's been a long time sense I saw The Tomb. I had forgotten about the movie. Thanks for mentioning the name.
@@angelawarren2567 no problem.
Near Dark is so underrated, and is still a horror favorite for me👍🏿... Dallas,Tx representin ✌🏿
Outstanding list! One question plagues me though... Was there a reason 'The Hidden' was not included as a Hidden Gem??? Is it because it's more of a Sci/Fi gem... or just a little too on-the-nose???
It's in my sci-fi 80s list. I find that's the trickiest part, deciding what goes in what genre.
@@Hyperdriveuk Thanks! I know what you mean!
Dude, where have you been?
Vampire's Kiss is a good/bad not really horror/horror flick from the late 80s. You get to see Nicholas Cage really form his style during it which is interesting.
It's definitely so good it's bad. Was tempted just to make a new series of "so bad it's good" films. lol
I would recommend Prozzie, 1993 aka Double Jeopardy,, is rare item, a British slasher movie from 1983.
Prozzie! Lol
Imagine that title, today? 😂
peter jacksons splatter duet of Brain Dead and Bad Taste
Hidden gem from the 80s. Ghosthouse 1988
I hope Xtro gets a mention in the next part.
I do love that creepy ass movie lol! I've got a few other classic British ones to add... was still wondering if they should be under sci-fi horror though... time will tell!
Opera is Argento's final great movie.
Agreed, was going to say Phenomena was... but I forgot that Opera came out after it.
The last girl on Hulu is really good must watch
Aliens is a masterpiece
2020 has been an incredibly stressful year. What movies would you recommend to make me feel like things are going to be okay?
Hmmm well I watch a lot of dystopian stuff LOL! So maybe I'm not the best person to ask. However - if you want a world which actually has a bright future, you could watch Her. The film Stardust (James Cameron movies) or musicals are my go to if I want to boost my moral.
@@Hyperdriveuk I would like to make a suggestion for a video. Have you considered doing a video on family sci-fi? For example, movies like Explorers, The Last Starfighter, or Sonic the Hedgehog.
I always thought like...since its in your dreams...cant you dream that you are bruce lee and have 100 weapons and start to control your dream...like lucid dreamers would be able to counteract it lol
Have you seen Street Trash?
7:32 Scientists are actually doing that nowadays. The *Unforeseen Consequences* of *Questionable Ethics.*
You are seriously one of my favorite UA-cam channel. Today is my birthday, can you please give me a shout out in the comments for my 38th birthday?
👍✌
when horror movies were fun
Where is part 2
Rip this channel
I'm making videos lol! Well shorts for now, as I build up more long format stuff.
He lives!! Great to hear, used to love your longer vids man@@Hyperdriveuk
Was about to say Innocent Blood, but that came out in 92
I've made that mistake a few times lol... it's like Oh I'll put in... wait its in 1990 or 1979 lol!
Child’s play?
return of the living dead is classic. what ya doing with a bunch of rabid weasels? more paramedics.
nothing about the fly, the thing?
I've covered them in several times in other vids lol! I wanted to let a few other films get a chance to shine. However I'm working on a part 2 and 3 so I'll end up probably putting them in at some point.
Pretty sure those have been done to death. I'm trying to find stuff that I *haven't* seen yet. 😂
If you would like more free gems, coins, gold or whatever use Gamecrook.
Gamecrook is the best website for coins, gold, gems, diamons, etc..
'The Shining' is trash.
