Wow, that’s a cool species sadly I can’t get it because I’m in Australia, speaking of Aus, you should come to Sydney again as nuptials are just starting
I suggest Messor barbarus (from Spain where I’m from) as the best ant to keep, the the og Messor: seed harvesters, polymorphic, generalists, basically everything Novomessor is but a bit different and polymorphic
As far as I'm aware, the wattage on Zoomed cables doesn't matter, it correlates directly to the length of the cable. Higher wattage is just there to supply power to a longer cable. They should all max out around the same temperature.
Would you recommend one Novomessor sp. over the other? I’ve been told N. albisetosus Is more vibrant and only slightly smaller than N.cockerelli? Both are available for purchase in the UK and can’t decide between the two.
@@Dan-n8l4r It's all personal preference. I personally like the dark, shiny look of N. cockerelli more, but I have kept large colonies of albisetosus in the past and loved them.
Want yes would love to have a colony to grow of these. but I keep to the local Sp. in my area. If one of my colonies Gets to the point i am ready to move on and say cya . I can release them to the wild.
I have a love-hate relationship with this species. they can be so numerous and vigorous that they can actually ruin good anting spots. by simply extirpating the other ants. fortunately dorymyrmex bicolor is here to keep them from reigning absolute and will give them the same treatment.
This is true, they are such dominant ants that they can very easily take over certain habitats. Not to mention that they are extremely efficient at killing newly flown queens; I've definitely shown this in a fair number of my vlogs.
Solinopsis xyloni I have got from Stateside ants grew her colony up to 50-60 workers they then tore her legs off and left her to die in the outworld ? They must not be subjects of the Queen. Democracy in the colony. REVOLUTION!!!!

I definitely disagree, they're super interesting to watch forage and since they're such voracious hunters there is rarely a dull moment around feeding. The only time I've found myself getting bored of them is over 5k-ish workers, because it becomes hard to feed them enough to grow more, and once there's no more growing to do it gets a little stale.

I live in the Dallas Oregon can u even get those here?
Agree with you 100%! When I was selling ants, people would come in for one species and always leave with a Novo colony.
200 species! Wow, this guy is so lucky. Also, Novomessor are so awesome. They really do have everything you want in a colony.
Lucky, plus have been keeping ants for a very, very long time...
FR! Have you ever heard about complaints about Novos?

Is there any cool species of ants in the Dallas Oregon? Just wondering
I had a novomesser colony
had? what happend?
I'm in New Jersey so it would be really difficult to get them. Are there any other species you can think of that can be limited by food availability?

@@Dan-n8l4r N. albisetosus is maybe 1-2mm smaller on average.

They seem like very big apheanogaster
thats what theyre related to, so yeah it would make sense
Kinda, although keeping them is very different since they're much more aggressive and grow much faster. But there are a lot of similarities.
