Marty on the keys, and his friend Harry Hmura did a lot of the blues-y guitar shredding on the OST. When Harry dropped an album not too long ago, Marty gave it a shout out. The album's called All I Need, I'd definitely recommend a listen. I just noticed they have a song called ghosts of reach! I wonder what the significance of reach was in h2. I’m assuming the lore was in the books at the time since this came out long before halo reach.
There's a line at the start of both Cairo Station & Pillar of Autumn referencing Reach. It was also in the CE manual. Bungie always alluded to them and hinted towards the events of Reach in their games, it's pretty cool
I thought you saw Reach being glassed in the Arbiter's opening cutscene; he flies away from it in pursuit of the Autumn. Might be misremembering or experiencing some partially untrue headcanon tho

Sadly they did not bring THIS track… a massive missed opportunity, it would’ve really fit the open world vibe.
1:26:03 I found it! There was one piece I’ve been looking for from this soundtrack and I finally found it lol. Love the interplay of the piano and guitar - a weird combo you’d never think would work but totally does.
Kinda like Master Chief and Cortana 😂
Marty on the keys, and his friend Harry Hmura did a lot of the blues-y guitar shredding on the OST. When Harry dropped an album not too long ago, Marty gave it a shout out. The album's called All I Need, I'd definitely recommend a listen. It's like Halo in blues form, and the title track even really rocks and rolls with that Halo drum feel, lots of toms and a swung feel. so good.
These songs are the definition of amazing and the 50 people who disagreed are heretics
I absolutely love that most of the Odyssey movements have definite nods to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon."
I have unyielding stuck in my head right now such a good tune
Such a masterpiece. I literally grew up and was raised by Halo as I am 23 now. So much nostalgia and good feelings listening to this is makes me shed a tear😢 because I know what was, will never be again. Thank you Halo for literally being such a great memory in my life.
Unforgotten. My favorite, it’s absolutely gorgeous
Unforgotten is one of the finest compositions ever written. Those cellos... perfection.
Mjolnir Mix still gives me goosebumps and amazing feelings to this day!
Marty had a home video of Steve's recording session on his channel before it was taken down. so fuc*king good. Really interesting to hear all of Steve's playing, including what didn't make it in, and how Marty reorganized and mixed some of what did make it.
@@thoughtsforthebuildersIt’s still there but in a different channel
When I hear Peril, I imagine a small group of grunts playing some alien games or a cat sneaking around the house.
I didn't see it before, but I do now.
Obviously the whole soundtrack is a masterpiece, but if there is one segment of it that I would savor if I could never listen to this OST again, it’s 1:46:42 - 1:47:17. It just encapsulates everything that makes this OST as good as it is.
I will proudly tell my children I grew up on this
I just noticed they have a song called ghosts of reach!
Might be misremembering or experiencing some partially untrue headcanon tho
and some of this was Steve Vai messing around on guitar, love him so much his work is a true masterpiece.
it always gives me shivers listening to this. I always hear about halo 3 being the nostalgic one but I once played an Xbox to death just on this game
(totally not because it wasn't cared of)
still don't play halo 3 much, someone change my mind or motivate me cause I wanna get into halo 3 (I haven't even beaten it on legendary).
22:20 !!! EPIC
So awesome never gets old
nice pfp
Nearly 20 years on and Halo 2's soundtrack is still the best in the series
Disc 2 of Halo 2 OST: "Here's all the beloved and atmospheric tracks from the campaign you know and love in all their unabridged glory"
Disc 1 of Halo 2 OST: "Ya like jazz?"
I can’t believe that on halo 2 remastered they changed some of the songs from the original soundtrack. We wanted updated visuals don’t touch the soundtrack. Perfect the way it is🎉
I remember listening to Peril and was blown away
Agreed... Peril is the best Halo song of all time
Memories, emotions, friendship are word that come to mind listening to this soundtrack. Oh and also fuck 343. Halo died when bungie left.
343 did alright with the MCC, but yeah overall it's fuck them.
2:17:04 of pure bliss to the man or woman who made this you are blessing to this world thank you
Many many men and women worked to make this soundtrack, everyone from Marty O’ Donnell who was the composer to all the orchestra players and chorus members. They all did a fantastic job.
I started playing at 3 and I never knew halo songs had lyrics, I will have to play halo 2 to see if you pop heads to them:3
This brings back such great memories, and it might just be the greatest video game soundtrack ever made.
I’m a PlayStation fan now but Halo 2 will forever be one of my favorite video games of all time
I'm a PlayStation fan too but I got an Xbox for the main reason of playing the Halo series
One of the greatest masterpieces of all time. Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori are among the legends such as Bach and Beethoven.
Anyone Else Love Blow me away?

Blow me away at first sounds like doom

Best song to accompany Master Chief as he blasts through hordes of Covenant and Flood.
Best BB song.
21:44 god the fucking memories. I love this song so much
Same man, this just hits me in the feels and the nostalgia is real
Nostalgia to the max I love Halo 2
I just listened to this for two hours and honestly I think I fell asleep
Ghost of Reach. 10:35 . this song is so so beautiful... they could use this one for some opening or ending of game.. is mysterious and epic!!!
Impend is awesome, especially when you're just chilling in that water lift thing
Perfect.
Work Jams ❤ Bringing me back to 2000’s. I’m Ready Master Chief, John, Spartan 117.
That guitar riff starting at 0:29, chef's kiss
My favorite songs out of this whole OST has to be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Movement of the Odyssey, and every other song is also Perfection to its finest.
Peril is probably by favourite piece of Halo music
"The Halo 2 soundtrack is pure sex for the ears." - Jesus Christ
Revelations 1:17, or some shit like that
2nd Movement of the Odyssey just blows my mind, just fits so perfectly, can literally see the level
I KNOW BUT XxBRUHxDxX
1:26:04 Warthog to the Frigate!
basically the same tune but sadly no warthog run was available in halo2 for some reason. apparently if you use mods you can find a warthog run area by going out of the map but they had to ditch the idea for some reason. you can find thin on general kids video (or golden team productions they are pretty much the same thing) but yeah you can find a video asking if there was supposed to be a warthog run but they had to ditch it over there. (im not just promoting another person btw. its just a recommendation for if you want to check it out.
@@bradinator343 It wasn't available in Halo 2 because many things were cut due to time restraints for Bungie, so while things like those cut levels and the flood juggernauts are available in the game files, they were removed from the final playable product.
