both my pitbulls, can tell when im having a melt down, and will come to my aid any time i feel down, and they arent even trained that way, love how dogs can sense these things, and love it!
Dog are amazing. I mean, as soon as you raised your voice, right there. And you know it's so much more than just they're trained to do it. They can comprehend it, and they know that they're human is at risk or in danger. I saw one, that was a self harm intervention, where the dog would literally jump up and knock the girls arm away and even pinned her arm against the wall with his head at one point so she couldn't hit herself, but as soon as she slid to the ground, he was all cuddles and tail wagging, making sure she was alright. Even laid his head on her chest and shoulder.
I have a cat that does that, if I'm mad or hurt myself she's right there in my face. She knows I'm not supposed to get stressed and puts the attention on her. It really works and I'm grateful for her!
OMG same here! She isn't trained like a dog, obviously, but when I have meltdowns or just crying a little, she comes up to me, squeaks in her own little cute way, gets in my face... Then I lie down hug her and she licks my hand and softly bites on it and then licks again until I have calmed down and stoped crying. I'm sure she thinks she can lick or "bite" away the pain and it's soooo cute 😢💖💕 She purrs all the time while doing this.
Les Landry I would LOVE to know how you trained your own dog to respond this way. I look up to you sooo much and always come to your channel when feeling down. You inspire me so much. ♡♡♡ I have less experience with dogs but I would love to get one. I'm autistic and suffer dissociative episodes due to childhood trauma but I can't get a service dog. At least not now. But in the future I would love to own a dog and train it this way. Animals are the only creatures that calm me down and "speak my language" if you get me. They say cats can't be trained and can't have a close relationship with humans, but if that's true then something has got to be wrong with my cat because I have trained her to sit, come, turn around and "speak". Also she can now do this without getting treats.
Rosie Brown Cats can be trained, but I have a cat that responds instantly when I get hurt, cry, get frustrated. She'll jump up to get in my face and lick me with little love bites if I don't respond to her fast enough. Our chihuahua does that with my Mr. He has a social disease and she keeps him balanced. She detects it even before he starts to fill the panic start. I hope you find the best anipal to help you with your needs. All of our Anipals are rescued, I think that they're more loving because they realize you saved them from a bad life. All in Love and God's Peace Michele
This made me cry. I'm so happy this man found his battle buddy. I'm still searching. But! I think I've found a place ... FINALLY! It just breaks my heart that I'm in so much need of a PTSD psychiatric dog ... and still no battle buddy "yet". My buddy that will help be ABLE to leave my house after a decade if being isolated.
This is really interesting because I have an 8 year old female german shepherd called Bella who does something very similar. I went through a period a while ago when I had noisy neighbours. I'm very laid back and rarely get mad, but every once in a while I'd be woken by my neighbours in the small hours which always made me flip the hell out, to the point I'd be banging on the wall and yelling STFU at the top of my voice. It didn't take long for Bella to figure out what was triggering my anger. As soon as the neighbours made a noise she'd come straight to me making a fuss and forcing my hand to stroke her, like she was trying to distract me. And it worked too. Instead of getting mad, flipping out and distressing my dog, I'd save my anger for the morning and go knock my neighbours door to tell them to keep the noise down. Furtunately they've moved away now. But every time I hear even the slightest noise from the new neighbours Bella runs over to stop me getting worked up. Seeing your service dog doing the same thing makes me wonder if this is something innate with GSD's.
I have a 4 yr old GSD I rescued. She is very intuitive with me. She knows if I'm upset and tries to calm me down before I flip out (it works 99% of the time). At first I thought it was because she was terrified of being abused but have come to realize that she's just doing 'her thing'. No wonder she failed K9 training. She's my lover. She knows when I'm sick or hurting but the only offering I get from her is her favorite toy that we play with LOL She does stand between me and everyone else, even my husband. If he yells at me, she gets a very high pitched yap going. When he once made the mistake of moving towards me... or was trying to go around me she mistook it and her hackles came up, ears went down. She knows by the sound of my voice the difference between pain & illness. She'll lay beside me for hours unmoving. I couldn't ask for a better rescue dog.
Fucking beautiful. My untrained dog does the same, but not quite to this extent, and this video just goes to show how powerful a bond between man and dog can be. These dogs that are trained save the lives of the men and women coming home from awful hell holes of existence.
Made me cry. What an amazing relationship you have with your dog. Reminds me of my sweet uncle, whom I miss so much. Thank you so much for sharing this.
What an incredible animal. I myself have a service dog and it has helped me tremendously. The emotional support from my dog is unlike anything else I could have ever gotten.
whoever says dogs dont have souls, has never had a dog,. we can learn so much from them. they love you unconditionally ,never expecet anything back except love :) i wanna go hug my boys now :)
PTSD, in myself, causes me to 'react' more intensely when I feel threatened...which may not be an actual threat, but the appearance of it starting, induced me to panic and feel I must defend myself. I am almost frantic and defensive. It is very startling to others...I don't plan it. It is as said below, feeling a horrific terror is happening, and responding to it, to protect yourself. This dog is awesome. Both my daughter and I have it, from our dog keeps us in control, and I don't think I could live without my dog, who also, somehow can feel the onset of my epileptic seizures and presses his body against mine to stay in bed or inside the house...it's amazing. I love Baby so much for what he does for us. We can be a solid functioning family. Dog is mans best friend for sure.
Thank you, for sharing this. Many people try to say my 'happy' dog is not a service dog. But, my Jack Russell works all day and night for us. He sleeps between all activity, and it's just amazing what a sacrifice he makes. So, I let him lose in a dog play park sometimes to just allow him to be a dog.
My mini poodle ruby is my unofficial PTSD dog ;) ever since I was 16 I've had it from witnessing a death and aftermath. I'm 24 now and it still keeps me from living. I'm glad your pup helps you!
I love that dogs are now being used to help people with PTSD, especially since so many service men and women suffer from it. Thank you for uploading this video to show how the dog reacts, it was wonderful to see.
Wow, amazing how fast she notices and comes to your aid, and what a beautiful dog too...I don't have PTSD but A LOT of people in my profession (paramedic) do, so this is extremely important! Glad you are able to find solace in your amazing companion, brings hope to those in need!
My husband is going through the process of obtaining a PTS service dog. The phone simulation is a great visualization of what the dog can do for my husband. He gets quite agitated talking to his mom and dad on the phone. He used to be able to have healthy debates with his dad, but now we try to avoid any controversial topics because within minutes he is almost screaming, and vibrating. It's awful. I want him to be able to do those normal things again, and have some semblance of normalcy in his life.
I never cease to be amazed by animals and there capacity to help and protect us. I have considered getting a service dog, but my blood disorder keeps me from being able to fully care to a dogs needs. my pain imoblizes me at times.
Ramona Lillie maybe get a cat. A few years ago I got a cat from a local shelter & she is a constant positive, loveing influence in my life. I need her as much if not more than she needs me. Cats are very independent. My cat also is a indoor cat/she doesn't go outside & she is content & happy & I buy cat toys to get her exercising.😺
Amazing! I don't have a service dog, just a regular little pomchi that I got a year after having a motorcycle accident. I was awake for it all up until surgery/ies and developed ptsd ( what I thought only war veterans experienced). My dog will wake up from sleeping if I start to have a panic attack or feel my anxiety rising and will do just this, walk all over me, wag her tail, even will start licking my eyes before tears start. Her distraction has worked better than any anxiety/depression medication I've been on, even faster than larazapam. Dogs truly are amazing animals!!
+Brad Steeg - she is a pretty amazing dog... She can do suicide intervention. and a few other amazing things... ua-cam.com/video/Ypx1M7F1WHA/v-deo.html
That is...... beyond amazing. Such a good service dog, such a lovely man. Thank you for showing this and thank you for staying alive♡ I don't know why but my heart felt all weird when watching this. Veterans with PTSD and their animals do an amazing job just staying grounded and in the moment. You deserve all the affection from that dog, I wish you the best always. Sometimes I feel like I would need a suicide dog.... but I'm not a veteran. I have great respect for you and everybody out there suffering. Hugs!!!!
a very emotional video to watch. she's such a good girl and you handle her great. with all that energy she seems pretty young.. 1-3 years old here perhaps? it's nice to see people that aren't war vets get PTSD dogs as well. i've honestly been wishing i had one for almost a year now.
They are a wonderful tool for all people that have PTSD not just veterans. Not a fix all but another way to address potential problems. Dogs, cats and other pets. PTSD victims have reported themselves calmer when watching fish in a fish tank just swimming.
+Alpha Mike Thank you very much... She is train for many more things for instance suicide intervention. Please take some time and watch my other videos...
I am happy to see this. Anger issues are among some of my biggest problems with PTSD. I hope once my disability comes through for that and some other things that I am able to get a service dog. Especially if that dog could help me wean off of the anxiety meds.
Thank you for sharing. I agree and respect that. our deceased 3y/o pup helped my autistic sibling calm down each time she got aggitated or had a meltdown. now my sibling developed anxiety after losing the pup last month. dogs are a real miracle
thanks i am currently putting together a legal action against cmh of st Clair county Michigan for violation of my husbands rights and his s/d for ptsd and after years of collecting money they tossed my husband and his s/d out of the building by a non trained rehab desk lady who made up her mind our federally registered s/d was just a pet even when he was provided to us by the st Clair co sheriffs dept for my husbands service....thank you so much for winning our case god bless you and your great k9
Thank you for your video. I'm trying to train my puppy. I have ptsd, functional neurological disorder, and pseudo seizures. People can be really mean to conditions that they don't understand. I've been hurt by so called professionals during my PTSD and seizures. Maybe having a service dog might give me more respect. So thank you for sharing your video. It helps me out with ideas in training my dog.
Les Landry I will definitely seek out more videos of that great k-9 you have. I've always been impressed with work dogs and yours provides an invaluable service. What's it's name, if you don't mind me asking?
Awesome, great job! Our Basset Hound does the same thing if someone raises their voice or talks sternly. He is very aware in the change of someone’s tone. He’s not a service dog but he’s very smart!
I have schizoaffective bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder with psychotic features,PTSD,OCD,GAD,and an ED. I'm struggling so much and my family struggles to understand and see the pain I feel. I've ended up in the hospital (inpatient) 5 times in less than a year and outpatient. I've been through 3 traumas and severe bullying. I have attempted several times even times they weren't around to see or find out. I've been going down hill more and more since I was in second grade when I purposely broke my ankle because I was so sad and angry. But no one knew I did it no one noticed my pain back then. They only noticed once I was in 9th grade when it got really bad and I attempted and someone called 911. They yelled at me and more times after this whenever I attempt or self harm. The pain has always been there it just took me trying to end my life for them to notice or me dying from anorexia or seeing the physical scars. -
They don't care until they are forced to and even then they brush it off and act like its nothing. They don't even try to understand. My mom sometimes tries but she fails by brushing it off afterwards. The whole point I was saying is that I'm having a really hard time and I have been for a while but it's progressively getting worse. I feel like a service dog would help me so much but my mom keeps saying no. I emailed my psychiatrist but she's on vacation rn so she won't reply for a while. My mom says she will say no even if the PSD helps or saves me the answer is no. But I'm still hoping she will change her mind. The only thing keeping me here is the hope I can get one and talking about service dogs otherwise there's nothing for me to really live for. I felt like if I had one it could help me recover and along with that I would have a reason to live. Service dogs are my happiness it's all I have.
Sounds like we have some things in common. Animals really do help, and I hope you get your service dog. I don't know what I would do without my little dog.
I have PTSD and have been looking into training the french bulldog puppy I just bought. I still know little about it but this video is fantastic. Thank you for sharing this with us!
I tried getting one of these dogs for myself. Two things held me back one the cost and two no one willing to help me out. They said I have way to many issues and problems and that there was no one who could help me. So every day and night I suffer but still manage in the grace of God.
I was unaware until today about PTSD service dogs specific tasks. I thought the government would give them a dog just to cheer them up (which makes sense to any dog lover). I've seen a couple other videos, but watching this one and hearing the dog start to jog in as soon as he becomes agitated and says "I don't care" is so cool. I didn't know they're trained to sense human emotions and discourage panic attacks. Unbelievable what these animals are capable of. So brilliant, and I don't have PTSD, but I'd imagine very successful too.
I have other videos of my dog doing other task. She is anger intervention, anxiety intervention, distress intervention, facial depression recognition and intervention and even suicide intervention. I am also epileptic and she is seizure detection, seizure alert and seizure response. She will activate my medic alarm if I have a seizure. She is a pretty amazing doggy...
I also have a service dog but i feel sorry for him because he gets really scared of me when my PTSD symptoms kicks in and I start to rage... My dog actually runs in a different room and hide from me. And I feel so bad because I never realize it in that moment
Blessings to those providing this service to our Vets. They deserve our help & love& dogs are a natural! ALL Vets are my extended family. I was a military wife for 20yrs (both daughters served), was a Psych Counselor & worked for Depts of Army & Navy. I now permanently live in the mountains of the AMAZON JUNGLE. Vets with PTSD can be CURED here with Ayahuasca. They can stop treating symptoms - it''s not a psych problem its a soul & spirit problem. Read about it here: Ayahuasca. By Nick Polizzi, Guest writer for Wake Up World. Let's heal PTSD and end the suffering & suicides. A serious Vet can contact me & we can work together to help get Vets here for CURES.
As someone who volunteers as a puppy trainer/handler for future guide dogs for the blind, it's great to see these dogs do so much more than typically considered service. True service dogs are trained to do much more than assist; how they conduct themselves in public with other dogs; and perform with focus in a high stress situation is the difference from a real service dog and a fake one. The fake service dogs should be called out for what they are: dangerous to real service dogs and those who truely need them. It's obvious that this dog is well trained along with his/her handler.
Here is another video of Annie...

Dogs are the most incredible creatures, with the purest, most loving hearts! All they want is love, and to give love back.

Hello.... She has saved my life many times...
Les Landry
I get it. I suffer with depression, and my dogs have saved my life too.
I'm sure she thinks she can lick or "bite" away the pain and it's soooo cute 😢💖💕
She purrs all the time while doing this.
I am happy your cat works for you.. :)
Les Landry I would LOVE to know how you trained your own dog to respond this way.
I look up to you sooo much and always come to your channel when feeling down.
You inspire me so much. ♡♡♡
I have less experience with dogs but I would love to get one.
I'm autistic and suffer dissociative episodes due to childhood trauma but I can't get a service dog. At least not now.
But in the future I would love to own a dog and train it this way.
Animals are the only creatures that calm me down and "speak my language" if you get me.

Les R. Landry and remind me you are from UA-cam...

Wonderful, as a vet i'm happy to see this
+foxfire1112 Thank you and thank you very much for your service...
Thank you for your service, and god bless.
Thank you, but I am not a Vet...
My PTSD is caused by severe child abuse.
Angel with a fur coat.
Yes.... she has saved my life many times.
Angel with eight nipples.
And frito feet
"Alright, how do we help treat PTSD in our soldiers?"
"Have we tried dogs?"
"Sounds good."
And it was.
I believe the only way is with service dogs and group therapy as long as the discussion is positive.
BUT I AM NOT A DOCTOR...
Yeah, good luck getting one.

It’s not hard to get a dog….
This is really interesting because I have an 8 year old female german shepherd called Bella who does something very similar. I went through a period a while ago when I had noisy neighbours. Sometimes I feel like I would need a suicide dog.... but I'm not a veteran. I have great respect for you and everybody out there suffering.
Hugs!!!!
+Valorie mad Thank you...

wow this is fantastic and you are a beautiful couple of friends XD!!hugs to both!
Thank you...
a very emotional video to watch. she's such a good girl and you handle her great. with all that energy she seems pretty young.. 1-3 years old here perhaps?
it's nice to see people that aren't war vets get PTSD dogs as well. i've honestly been wishing i had one for almost a year now.
she was around 16 months old here...
Dogs are fricken awesome. How amazing that they can help in this way. Thank you for sharing that.
+Shelley Thompson - thank you.
They are a wonderful tool for all people that have PTSD not just veterans. Not a fix all but another way to address potential problems. Dogs, cats and other pets. PTSD victims have reported themselves calmer when watching fish in a fish tank just swimming.
Yes...
I have epilepsy too and I know I would be dead if it was not from her..
Amazing! I need to look into this thank you.I WISH YOU THE BEST BROTHER!
Especially if that dog could help me wean off of the anxiety meds.
i shared your video on twitter Les, i am glad that your companion is able to bring some relief to what you go thru
+Mario Mackinnon, thank you very much...
youre welcome sir, be well
That is a beautiful dog and well-trained that you have there good job on the video and it's nice to see how the training actually works out
Thank you very much...
I like how they just run up and draw the person's attention. Super good boy.
Thank you for sharing. I agree and respect that. our deceased 3y/o pup helped my autistic sibling calm down each time she got aggitated or had a meltdown. now my sibling developed anxiety after losing the pup last month. dogs are a real miracle
+Mavisha Taj - I hope you can find another puppy for her.
thanks i am currently putting together a legal action against cmh of st Clair county Michigan for violation of my husbands rights and his s/d for ptsd and after years of collecting money they tossed my husband and his s/d out of the building by a non trained rehab desk lady who made up her mind our federally registered s/d was just a pet even when he was provided to us by the st Clair co sheriffs dept for my husbands service....thank you so much for winning our case god bless you and your great k9
Thank you for sharing, You have a special companion with you, More Dog Bones!!!!
Thank you....
Thanks for the video. Animals are amazing.
Thank you very much...
+Jessica c Thank you...
Annie is also a seizure detection, alert and response dog. Please check out my seizure training videos..
Beautiful dog , and impressive training.
Thank you....
Please feel free to view my other videos where they show her activating my medic alarm...
Les Landry I will definitely seek out more videos of that great k-9 you have. I've always been impressed with work dogs and yours provides an invaluable service. What's it's name, if you don't mind me asking?
Her name is Annie...
She is named after a friend of mine that lost her life to cancer.
Les Landry Thank you, she's is a beautiful dog. I'm sorry to here about your friend.
dl moore Thank you...
This is great stuff. Thank you for your service.
+jerry hello Thank you very much...
Awesome, great job! Our Basset Hound does the same thing if someone raises their voice or talks sternly. He is very aware in the change of someone’s tone. He’s not a service dog but he’s very smart!
beautiful dog, and thank you for you're service to this nation, this country can never properly repay you're sacrifices.
Thank you, I am not a Veteran...
My PTSD is child-abuse related.
Les Landry regardless, you still seem like a good dude, take it easy and keep you're spirit up.
Jeremy Key Thank you very much...
I don't know what I would do without my little dog.
all I kept saying out loud, while watching ur vids of u and annie was "WOW...WOW...WOW"
Thank you I appreciate it God bless you
I have PTSD and have been looking into training the french bulldog puppy I just bought. I still know little about it but this video is fantastic. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank you, and this video may help you...

I have ptsd too and my dog helps me so much. She does it from instinct.
I always think my dogs are my angels. I don't know where I would be without them.
Thank you...
I tried getting one of these dogs for myself. Two things held me back one the cost and two no one willing to help me out. They said I have way to many issues and problems and that there was no one who could help me. So every day and night I suffer but still manage in the grace of God.
Hopefully, you can get a puppy and let it help you...
Dogs are amazing!
Thank you. I shared it on our website.

Wonderfully done !
Lucinda Gaskill Thank you...
Wow! That's amazing!
Thank you...
Great job!
Thank you...
Wow i need this dog for my anger issues :/
Great video!!! Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you very much...
Nice! I hooe you feel better soon
Thank you...

Thank you....
Please check out many of more videos I have of her.
