I grew up on rock 40+ years ago i.e. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Boston, Van Halen etc but ABBA was definitely a "guilty pleasure" group. They were a hit machine with great voices and harmonies and not a day went by when you didn't hear a song of theirs on the radio. A group like them won't ever exist again.
It was Bjorn who wrote the lyrics while jogging and the tck-a-ch rhythm inspired him. You are so right about the harmonisation between Frida and Agnetha, there will never be anyone the same. Lifetime fan here.
All of ABBA's songs are awesome. Hard to pick a favorite, but one of them for me is I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do. Also, Chiquitita, Waterloo, Mama Mia, Ring Ring, The Winner Takes It All, and The Name Of the Game. Ana Fried had a hit song on her own, after the ABBA breakup, called There's Something Going On. It was recorded under the name Frieda. It was produced by Phil Collins, who also played the drums on it. You should check that one out too. 👍
"Take a chance on me" (1978) is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world, the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen), #3 in Billboard U.S. one of their four Top10 in US : #6 Waterloo (1974) #1 Dancing Queen (1977) #3 Take a chance on me (1978) #8 The winner takes it all (1981) This is one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music (They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end) the blonde singer Agnetha is the lead vocal in the solo verses, her voice is so powerful, in perfect armonies and chorus with the brunette Anni Frid in co-leads vocal (and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance') Agnetha & Anni Frid have fantastic voices and harmonies together Agnetha is soprano Anni Frid is mezzo soprano and together made a 'third voice' the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging, by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt and adapted it to "take a chance, chance, take a chance", so the song was born Although it is a disco europop, it's like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying, addictive if I could give You a suggestion for next reaction, take a review of all "ABBA The Álbum" (release at the same time with "ABBA The Movie" in 1977), is a Masterpiece of versatility in each song, but specialy the hymn "Thank you for the music" or the winner song of the classic Eurovisión Song Contest at UK 1974: "Waterloo" the live perfomanece of ABBA is icónic, I leave you to the reaction: ua-cam.com/video/3FsVeMz1F5c/v-deo.html&feature=share9 ( next year will be the 50th anniversary ) I wish you a greatest week My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South America
I totally agree with this last comment and your commentary as well Dennis!😆Just do me one favor man, “PLEASE” don’t do a reaction to the song “Ring My Bell”🔔🤣 whatever you do you might crack the screen on your TV 📺 trying to sing along!😂But hey,all jokes aside I was totally 💯 in love with Agnetha(the blonde)although it would’ve been very “uncool” to disclose that information if you were a young boy back then but now I’d shout it from the rooftops if I could still get up there🥴😆🤣😂✌️🫶🤟

Best Band Ever
That’s Abba , everyone’s a winner ❤
This is what's sorely missing from music today...an understanding of WTF Melody is!!! This is melody which equals great music in any genre....

Their 2021 song Dont Shut Me Down was nominated for record of the year. You should react to that.
i was there for all of it. LOVE ABBA.

"Take a chance on me" (1978)
is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world,
the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen),
#3 in Billboard U.S.
one of their four Top10 in US :
#6 Waterloo (1974)
#1 Dancing Queen (1977)
#3 Take a chance on me (1978)
#8 The winner takes it all (1981)
This is one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music
(They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end)
the blonde singer Agnetha is the lead vocal in the solo verses, her voice is so powerful,
in perfect armonies and chorus with the brunette Anni Frid in co-leads vocal
(and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance')
Agnetha & Anni Frid have fantastic voices and harmonies together
Agnetha is soprano
Anni Frid is mezzo soprano
and together made a 'third voice'
the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging,
by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt and adapted it to
"take a chance, chance, take a chance",
so the song was born
Although it is a disco europop, it's like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying, addictive
if I could give You a suggestion for next reaction, take a review of all "ABBA The Álbum"
(release at the same time with "ABBA The Movie" in 1977),
is a Masterpiece of versatility in each song,
but specialy the hymn
"Thank you for the music"
or the winner song of the classic Eurovisión Song Contest at UK 1974: "Waterloo"
the live perfomanece of ABBA is icónic, I leave you to the reaction:
ua-cam.com/video/3FsVeMz1F5c/v-deo.html&feature=share9
( next year will be the 50th anniversary )
I wish you a greatest week
