Been a lifelong, unapologetic ABBA fan (I'm 54) If you want more suggestions- my favorite is The Name of the Game. Some serious, some fun, a great video. Thanks for the reactions.
My husband and I had almost all ABBA music played at our wedding reception back in 1997. It was awesome, with a lot of dancing. :) (Edit to add): I remember the first time I heard this song. I was around 12, and was sitting in the backseat of our family's green Thunderbird, coming back from fishing with my dad and his best friend. We were just coming down the road to our house. As soon as I heard it, I was mesmerized and asked my dad to turn the volume up. Then I made dad and Major Root stay in the car until the song finished. I was hooked on ABBA at that point, and received my very first ABBA record from mom and dad that following Christmas. I am now 48 and still have that record sitting in the cabinet of our family room. :)
I grew up on ABBA. Really like the genuine joy you seem to have listening to their music, it makes me re-appreciate the magic of their sound. Their music from around this period could be so joyful, really wonderful! They were really diverse though, depending on which period you listen from. Their last album ‘The Visitors’ was quite a departure (and a few non albums tracks after that) but absolutely stunning in a different way. The Day Before You Came is one of my favourites, pure melancholy but so fantastic! I encourage you to source everything they did, including the unreleased demos. Theirs hardly a blotch on their repertoire!
One of the best selling and most talented bands ever. The song writing, harmonizing, production... I recommend their "darker" stuff, 'cause this is a band with a special history. Try out "Knowing me, knowing you" and "The winner takes it all". I really respect your choice of reactions. Thank you!
Love Abba, they are like a guilty pleasure because you don't hear a lot of people admit they like them. But I feel like they got even bigger after the 80s especially with the movies Muriel's Wedding and Mama Mia
The Legends that are ABBA have left an indelible mark in music history. They were and still are giants of pop music. Often copied but never equalled. To think there are new songs from them to be released next year is simply amazing. From the few people who have heard them, they are as good as anything they've written before.
Yes another GREAT ABBA song..my 2nd favorite or maybe tied for #1 with Lay All Your Love On Me....you can't be down and here this song...it's so uplifting and Frida is really getting down dancing.
They got buried under the "Disco Sucks" backlash, but ABBA wasn't really "disco", it was just great pop music. Their musicality got lost in the era, and I say that as someone who hated disco -- and therefore ABBA -- but seeing them now - without the blinders of "contemporary issues" (which died around 1983) -, I can finally appreciate how amazingly talented they were. As writers(Benni)/lyricists(Björn) and performers (Agnetha [pronounced Anyetta - roughly] and Anni Frid [Frida]) - the B ,B, A, A of ABBA
It is really special to see a young man like yourself appreciate music like ABBA. We took this for granted when they first emerged because there was an abundance of talent back in the seventies. As time goes by I realise that it was a privilege to hear this kind of music first hand. Great post!!
You keep on doing what you're doing, and loving what you're loving, no matter what anyone says. And there's no shame in loving Abba, anyway. They were the masterclass in how to write perfect pop music back in the 'seventies and 'eighties. There's even ABBA the movie, if you ever get around to it.
Thanks for having the appreciation for all these classic songs! Another good one to check out is "Next Time I Fall" by Peter Cetera and Amy Grant. It's a mid 80's ballad that made it to #1 for good reason! (And since we're on Abba here, Peter Cetera also did a duet with Agnetha Fältskog called "I Wasn't the One Who Said Goodbye")
Do Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) - Madonna sampled this for Hung Up (she's only the second artist to sample an ABBA song, the first were the Fugees); old songs makes more sense because you will get more people listening to songs they never heard that deserve attention
There is so much to react to from ABBA. Their last album, The Visitors, was almost overlooked and is their most underrated album. The title track is a really brilliant political song and much darker than pretty much anything they released. Definitely worth a listen.
Now check out Erasure's version of this song. Back in 1991 they released an ep of Abba songs, this one included, but they also did a cheeky take on this video too.
In case anyone doesn't know just how big ABBA was...they sold 380 million records and earned 1.5 Billion dollars during their career and of course are still making millions from the royalties of their music being used in plays and movies as well as radio and TV "airplay". In the beginning nobody wanted them...until everybody wanted them! Check out their documentaries.
If you haven't researched them yet .... You'll find they was #1 band for along time over many countries. But here in the US only 1 #1 song ( dancing Queen) Another interesting fact is the band was actually couples. They married and the girls had a off stage "feud" but once on stage they didn't show any thing but talant
So many artists and so much music with so little time. The mid 70s was just very busy w/ lots of good music. Abba, Little River Band, Electric Light Orchestra, The Bee Gees are just a few of the great sounds. If you get a chance you might want to look for Wolfman Jack on youtube. You don't have to post it on a reaction video. The man was a very popular dj throughout the 70s and 80s. His view was the world is serious enough, so therefore his show and presentation of music was comical and entertaining.
Ignore the trolls. I grew up on Abba and still love them. They are timeless. If you haven't already done so, watch the movie "Mama Mia". Keep posting young man!😊
Sadly, not really true. Only Agnetha struggled a bit with English at times. And still does. The others were very fluent, and even Agnetha coped most of the time. Watch their interviews from the 70s and you’ll see.
Another band around this time there was another group called Boney M, they are more reggie. Whenever I hear Abba I think of them. When I was little my mother and I would clean the house to these two bands blaring.
Bjorn came up with the rhythm to this while running. Once I heard him say that it made perfect sense. He said it matches the pattern his feet were making.
My favorit abba tracks! You have to listen to Abba- when I kissed the teacher Abba - voulez-vous Abba - lay all your love on me Abba - Chiquita Abba - one of us Abba - I have a dream Abba- the name of the game Abba - our last summer
I like how you keep explaining on your channel that you're going to keep reacting to ABBA. I'm totally the same way with singers/groups that I stumble upon. ABBA has always been my favorite group. Each member has something that can't be replaced or duplicated. Benny and Bjorn went on to write the musical Chess with Tim Rice the year after ABBA stopped recording. They wrote a huge hit titled "I Know Him So Well" by Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson. The song is great and the ABBA elements are still there but without Agnetha and Frida singing it it just isnt the same. I recommend you listen to "I Know Him So Well" to further experience the talents of Benny and Bjorn..only without the girls. Disclaimer: Elaine and Barbara are amazing singers so I hope I dont anger anyone reading this.
JB. I’m an early subscriber and a forever fan. So, I’m asking you to do me a favor with a reaction on a female artist (rocker) from the 70s. Please review Susie Quatro’s “You Mama Won’t Like Me” from 1975. It bears up well after all these years. You’ll LOVE it!
Abba were able to come up with good, original melodies, not thew standard rock/pop material. They were not afraid to be silly, either, and put out a few duds here and there. The Piper, Soldiers, and, of course, The Winner Takes it All are worth a listen. I Do I Do I Do is like old German beer hall music. Most of the world loved Abba but Americans considered them uncool at the time.
When I was was a kid in the '70s I liked ABBA and it wasn't cool to do so. But they've got great songs, and the critics are just to weak to stand up and admit it.
You are late lol my year of birth is 1980 and I grew up listening to Abba with my sister one of the lead singer Agnetha was in Jesus Christ superstar which is were my interest started I got a playlist up of some of their best songs ....... ABBA's the shirt! Listen to " if it wasn't for the nights"

@Cobb Knobbler Indeed, ora awesome... but Sinead O'Connor made the best cover of that song I ever heard, sometimes I even like it more than the original (I know, it seems very sacrilegious to me too, but trust me)

They were a world wide phenomenon. People of all ages, we're talkin' from real little kids to older folks would go to their shows. These two women's voices blended so well together and they could lay it down live. True talent. One of the biggest world wide bands of all time
You are on the correct path brother. The classics are the way to go, modern music is generally poor. Also, there are sooo much amazing songs and artists still to discover. What you have already discovered is only the tip of the iceberg.
In the 70's I was a long haired rocker kid, rock and heavy metal, ABBA was a chick band to be made fun of, fast forward 35 years later I explored ABBA and was shocked at how many songs I remembered and how great this band is, as we get older scenes and styles can be crossed without fear of getting your teeth knocked out LOL. Then I find out that a large proportion of my rock and metal gods are also big fans of ABBA. I am in a good plce now hehehe.
I love most of their songs - think they actually did a song called “Thankyou for the music” 🤓 Great reaction... can see ur genuine and ur definitely down that rabbit hole haha 😂
They ARE amazing! Glad you found enjoyment in them... I know plenty of metalheads Who secretly listened to them, top, lol
Most of the hardest mofos in the 1970s had a hidden Abba record collection.
they are a guilty pleasure lol
Butch Brewer , that's true, im from the Philippines.
So true! Even Lemmy from Motorhead loved ABBA...may he rest in peace.
ABBA and Carpenters. Two that always had to be kept a secret amount metalheads and rockers. Silly because they are both amazing.
Haa. So true!

ABBA are one heck of a group. Very high level of musicality, musicianship and professionalism.
Their entire catalogue is quality.
Since you’re on the ABBA train you gotta out Fernando , & Waterloo in the list. All their songs are great! Welcome to the 70’s. 💋💕
Julie Ford Fernando!! I haven't thought of that in years!
Your family is so on target with their recommendations!

Hello everybody from Russia.Moscow. My favorite song "One of us" and many many others. ABBA my love .
ABBA was unbelievable!!! Loved them!!!

If you think about how a lot of singers dress now in videos, it's so sweet seeing them dance around in their thick winter sweaters and boots🙂
ABBA songs are very difficult to sing the way their voicez harmonised together it is very hard to do, I love them 💞
I love your unfiltered reaction. This is one of the reasons I watch your videos.
"The Way Old Friends Do" by ABBA.
I love your reaction when they dance. You made me smile!! Please keep your channel going. You're great because you are genuine.

Music made by musicians with talent. No autotune or looping.
I remember listening to the 8 track tape of Abba and trying to learn the male part of this song when I was like 7 years old!!!
Frida the Dancing Queen ❤
So talented. They recorded many songs in different languages, including English, without speaking the languages.
Along with the bee gees, abba was one of the most influential groups ever in terms of song writing and musical production.
I love the way you react to your videos. You really get into the music 👍👍👍👍👍
If you haven't researched them yet .... You'll find they was #1 band for along time over many countries. But here in the US only 1 #1 song ( dancing Queen)

Another great classic Funeral for a friend by Elton John.
U should watch “Mamma Mia” the musical/movie with Merle Streep in it. It has a great number of their hits in it & it is very comedic.
so glad that you are exploring all types of music James. you should try some Boney M - Rasputin
WELCOME ABOARD .
When they first began to sing in America, they couldln't speak English ( they're Swedish ) so they had to learn the words phonetically.
Sadly, not really true. Only Agnetha struggled a bit with English at times. And still does. The others were very fluent, and even Agnetha coped most of the time. Watch their interviews from the 70s and you’ll see.
Another group with A Lot of Funk and Groove is Kool and the Gang:)

Love Boney M. Their version of Rivers of Babylon is superb.
Ra-ra-rasputin, Russia's greatest love machine.
Please check out Abbacadabra. They were 90's Eurodance group covering ABBA songs.
Bjorn came up with the rhythm to this while running. Once I heard him say that it made perfect sense. He said it matches the pattern his feet were making.
No accident they won Eurovision song contest!!!

I definitely didn't appreciate ABBA as much as they deserved back in the day. They certainly have aged well.
Try the name of the game, my favourite Abba song.

Please react to Fernando and SOS. Both are by Abba and the songs are amazing
When I was younger in the mid to late eighties I didn't like Fernando but now it's one of my favorites.

@Cobb Knobbler Indeed, ora awesome... but Sinead O'Connor made the best cover of that song I ever heard, sometimes I even like it more than the original (I know, it seems very sacrilegious to me too, but trust me)
Another great ABBA song! Don't pay attention to the IDIOTS! Keep on doing what you are doing!
Love it. Try "Dancing Queen"
According to my phone, I watched it🙃
ABSOLUTELY!
ABBA was a constant vinyl at my Ma's best friend's house. I'd be in the front room grooving around with my child self and they'd be in the back playing Yahtzee with the Budweiser and Marlboros.
We were all having fun.
I really appreciate your sincerity and openness. Keep making this pretty hard world better.
PS: I second "SOS" by ABBA, it is my most favorite song by them.
SOS is like Prog Pop
Yep, I will third it. One of my faves.
Sex Pistols's Glenn Matlock was a huge fan of this song. "Submission" is somehow based on it.
Please react to ''Thank you for the music''
