Great update! I’m 38 years old, have 3 kids, a wife, and a job. We are mainly home bodies and when we do go out, we don’t go to sketchy areas. The #1 defensive tool we have is situational awareness hands down! If I’m out and I sense even a fist fight is about to break out I get the hell out of that situation! I’m not in my teens and 20’s anymore and my eyesight is starting to wear, so I’m not really trying long shots anyway. I also have a brain injury and I notice that after I shoot larger calibers a lot my head starts hurting and I start getting a little disoriented. And that’s with ear protection. 8 rounds of .22lr with no recoil and less sound that leads to less disorientation is definitely a positive! I can shoot .22lr all day and feel great when I leave the range and I know I didn’t blow hundreds of dollars worth of ammo. I do carry a 9mm semi auto from time to time if I know I’m going into a sketchy area or big city, but those times are few and far between. Other than that it’s always a S&W 442 .38 special for me. People don’t think about defensive shooting legality issues either. These 17+1 pistols, etc. are great, but at the end of the day if you’re shooting more than 5-10 rounds in a defensive scenario you better have a top tier lawyer because you’re probably on your way to prison. Not to mention it’s gonna look pretty suspect to a jury if you have a “high capacity” pistol, especially with optics, light, etc. compared to a revolver. Like I said, I currently EDC a S&W 442 .38 special and I LOVE that revolver! 5 rounds of .38 plus a speed strip in the pocket is more than enough for my grocery trips! But I’m not getting any younger. I could definitely see myself moving to the .22lr revolver for EDC in the future and I definitely wouldn’t feel undergunned!
You won’t regret the switch. I have switched most my guns to 22LR and I’m thankful I did. I have a lot more ammo and a lot more $ in my pocket. We are also able to train a LOT more since the switch. Great points here. 😊
I've been carrying this same gun since 2019, and it's my favorite gun. I'm 73 years old and have carried a gun most ,my life since was a teen gang member in a bad neighborhood in an inner city slum. Got out and had a life, but swear by having some protection in my pocket. From the mid 1980's I carried a pair of NAA mini revolvers in .22lr. In April of 1988, and Memorial Day morning in 2017, just after dawn at a deserted highway rest area, a little .22 in the pocket saved my butt. In 1988 one warning shot was enough to send the would be attacker running off, and in 2017 the presence of it being pulled from a pocket was enough to send the would be car jacket running off. I guess nobody wants to be shot with even an itty bitty .22! In 2019 I bought the Ruger LCR and so far in over 4,000 rounds, not even a dud round. Ultra reliable and accurate, and with speed strips quick to reload. And it goes in a pocket holster.
There's a rabbit hole that every single man who has ever wondered what they needed to do to protect their loved ones can fall down.. most people don't fall all the way down, but more than you'd expect go farther than they need. I really appreciate that you're thoughtful and practical. Having anything even to return fire might change the situation - doesn't really matter the caliber. If someone believes they're going to handle a .22 let them Those guys who believe that they'll be in a military situation should honestly join the military.. or if you need to be prepared for 5 men with overwhelming force well perhaps take some zoloft and reassess. Great video.
Most sh-it talkers don't even carry. They can sure talk some sh-it though. Like I said in your last video, This is one of my favorite revolvers. It runs like a watch, and with that Federal Punch your showing, your good to go. Check out "Demonstrated Concepts LLC" and the title of the video titled "Dicken distance (40yd) gel test. LCR22 Federal Punch"... Its a very short video showing the penetration of that punch at 40 yards into gelatin with multiple layers of denim is 12"to 13". Amazing. I'm only looking at less than 10 feet, so 40 yards (120 feet) is off the chain. Great job on the second video. We think alike.
Rhett has some fantastic videos! He’s one of the folk that helped me decide on this LCR. Exactly, I’m hoping at the very least the video will help people do their own research and go down their own rabbit hole. Thank you for the words and I appreciate your support!
Your videos really changed my thinking and I realized I’m not Rambo no sense in repeating everything for me. These two videos genius I’m a convert.22LR
I switched over to 22LR as my #1 Go-to caliber for carry and home defense. I carry a 9 shot Taurus stainless revolver with a 4” barrel. I train a LOT more and am able to stock up on thousands of rounds to keep shooting even when the shelves run dry. (Coming soon!) also, it’s easier to shoot and be more effective with. Great video! Thanks for sharing. The LCR 22 is my next purchase 😊
Dude thank you for understanding. Right? I can shoot my carry ammo and not break the bank, it’s light and follow up shots are a breeze. I’m not claiming it works for everyone but to completely dismiss it is absolutely ignorant.
Shrouded hammer revolver is awesome for colder weather. Throw it in your jacket pocket and you can shoot right through it without worrying about hammer or slide getting caught. Very limited chance of cylinder getting caught up in fabric. If the threat is up close, a shrouded hammer revolver is an excellent choice. Here in FL, I rarely carry a revolver (of any type) just because the thinner G43X MOS or Ruger LCP in a pocket holster) conceals better. But it's always an option. And I would have no problem carrying a .22LR because I know I can put shots exactly where they need to be and if that's what I have available to carry or it's the best option at the time/place, then that's what I am carrying.
You have a fantastic thought process. You and I think alike. I never post anything online but I felt compelled to say "you do great videos" Stay safe, and keep doing what you're doing.
Don't let the haters bother you When someone starts pestering me about carrying a 22, I tell them it's my ear, nose, and throat gun 😂 One of the advantages of that little 22, as per Rhett Neumeyer, is due to the low recoil, live practice is not as important as it is with a higher caliber That means if it's raining like hell I don't have to go to my friend's property and be drenched and miserable trying to practice in the rain LOL At the end of the day proficiency with your firearm is more important than what caliber it is
I train with a Ruger 22/45 10-round mag and the volume of training can be 200 - 300 rounds per outing. My 9mm is way too expensive to shoot in high volume. My carry 9mm is the Glock 43. I very rarely carry, generally if carrying is a good idea, staying home is a better plan. EXCELLENT VIDEO! Thanks again. 😎👍
Man we are on the exact same page. I've been carrying this same gun for years now and am extremely passionate about it for many reasons, all of which you've stated. Thanks 👊🏻
Regarding the sights hitting low, just buy an extra front sight and then file the old one down to bring up your POI. That's one of the nice things about the LCR. The removable front sight lets you do some stuff that you wouldn't do with fixed sights. I actually have a Hamre Forge grip on my NAA 22 short and they really are excellent. Mine had to be fitted before they would go on the gun and when I sent an email to Hamre Forge to ask about it, they replied in literally 10 minutes. They even assured me that even if I modify the grips and still couldn't make it work, they would refund me. A lot of other companies would refuse to refund you if you started filing on their grips. I highly recommend Hamre Forge as a company, they are run by good people and their products are excellent.
Great vid. I used to carry the 22lr which worked well for me. At some point I decided to carry the ruger LCR 22mag for more punch. I am not looking for a major shoot out I just want to say "get away from me" and both of these make that statement if needed. Thanks again for the video.
This was a good companion to your first video. I like that holster and will check them out. For years I've carried one LCR in a front mounted 'fanny pack' by Gun Gear, and often a 2nd identically set up LCR in a Galco sheepskin lined ankle holster. My 'dress' clothes holster is a _Smart Carry_ . Very good for deep carry or inside running pants or shorts.
Another great vid on the use of a 22lr for a concealed carry gun I have a whole safe full of guns and the ruger lcr in 22lr with fed punch is my go to gun my old hips and back cannot take the weight of bigger guns any more Im only going to save me and my wife not the rest of the world it will do the job if needed
Big fan of the Hamre Forge grips. I usually run the non hook panel since it’s in an Enigma 99% of the time. But the grip shape reminds me a lot of the Boresight P365 and Glock mods and I love it. Good video!
Don't sweat carrying .22lr...a lot of the folks chastising you about it are the same folks who left their 9mm in the car, or at home...our current carry is .25acp, and we hear the same spiel...we have carried .22lr, always in a revolver...small holes are still holes, and nobody enjoys getting new ones...carry on...
Excellent video 👍. The speed loader i use for my Ruger LCR.22 LR, and found the fastest and easiest, is the Speed Beez Loader. It is fast, I've timed myself within 3 seconds, all 8 rounds in revolver. Thanks again.
@@KnifeNinjaEDC they are definitely. What I carry daily is my speed loader with the 8 rounds in a small leather case with a Paracord tied to the end, that makes it easier access in case needed. Also what I built was the loading block with a drill. I made a stencil and marked each round tip and drilled precisely, it has 4 loading sections, that I use at shooting range for easier loading during live fire. The block probably cost $25 on speed beez website, but why pay for one when its easy to make one, thanks 👍
@KnifeNinjaEDC Tony, well presented. I may have missed it- Where did you find that 500 round package of punch? I can find the 50 round boxes but I haven’t had any luck finding the 500 round package. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work.
I used ammoseek dot com and found the best deal. Got 1000 rounds total and I think it averaged $0.17 or 18 cents a round. Perhaps lower after shipping.
As I haven’t personally run 22wmr I didn’t. I try to not speak on things I have not personally experienced as that would be more be crossing into hyperbole territory if that would be the correct term. From MY research into it I chose 22lr. Listening and watching folks like Rhett Neumayer, Chuck Haggard, and folks who are way more experienced than I also convinced me. Sure I could assume things since I know a bit about 22mag from what I’ve heard but I’d assume folks can do a little research. Positives I assume: a little more velocity and oomph in the caliber. Cons: a few less rounds, much louder, availability and cost per round. Being able to shoot it to become as proficient as I can was a big factor for me. I can buy LR almost as low as 2 cents a round vs at the minimum of 17 cents a round, I get waaay more practice with LR. But that situation can be different for everyone and my main message is if someone takes self defense seriously that they evaluate their situation as best they can and choose accordingly. And it’s been super fun going down the rabbit hole! Thank you and stay safe!
Why is it that Ruger and other companies can make the 22LR in an 8 shot? But will only make the 22 Magnum in a six shot? I would like an 8 shot 22 Magnum. Taurus makes one in the 942 model in 8 shot but it is not hammer-less. So its a no deal for me.

8 shots in chest, .22 plenty of firepower. Reliable, easy to shoot, cheaper ammo. Thanks for posting.

A real world gun for real world protectors. You and your wife stay safe and Merry Christmas
If you haven't found them yet, check out 5 star firearms speedloaders for the 8 shot .22lr.
I’ll check them out!
Times are hard and some folks have 22lr for this reason. I understand...train hard like your life depends on it.
@TonyKim another great video. Happy to hear the hamre forge grips are still a favorite
It’s been working great and I don’t feel a need for a different grip. Def keeping them on. Thank you!
Thanks for another great video Tony I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas!
I really appreciate the kind words and support! You as well, we had a very good Christmas and man I haven’t felt this good in awhile. Stay safe 🙏

Appreciate it!
Excellent information thanks👍👍👍👍
The Uppercut is not recommended for revolvers if I remember correctly.
Yeah the tests I’ve seen so far in it have been underwhelming. Punch it is
I have not seen the 1st video but will go look at it now. Did you mention why not go with the .22 mag vs. the .22 lr?

More practice=more skill. Practice and carry what you like. You're not police or a soldier.
They all make a holes. The more holes, the more holes the better. Like the AMX card, don't leave home without it.
Exactly. Shot placement and penetration
I carry a LCPII 22 - Have listen to more than a few carry videos - threat reduction is the goal not just 'stopping' the person making the assault.
Absolutely. People keep trying to tell us that the police and military don’t carry 22lr. Well yeah but we’re not the police 😂

Hmm not really sure. That is a good question
The S&W 351c is a 22 Magnum J-Frame with a 7 round capacity. Not quite 8, but better than 6.
What grip did you swap it to?
Hamre Forge grips. He just released version 2!
How much it cost
You can easily check current prices online 👍
What you so scared of?
JOKE GUN. GET REAL.
