Yep, truly tragic. Not only that, but later on, Caraxes and Vhagar would spend more time together under Daemon and Laena (and I imagine Laena and her mother flew together as well, before her marriage to Daemon, so that means Vhagar also flew with Meleys as well). So in the end, Vhagar ends up killing her 2 younger Companions.
Exactly my sentiments as well. When you look at the series and you see all of the dragons in the first or second eps getting along. They're not growling at each other. Not going for each other's throats. Nothing. Everything was peaceful amongst all the Targaryens. It's the blood of the dragon. The whole family is out of balance now. So of course the dragons are going to be at each other's throats as well. Such a sad thing. 😔
@@thalmoragent9344I didn’t even think about that. Outside of Vermithor and Silverwing we don’t get to see the bond between dragons all that much. Would give a whole new dimension to the magical creatures.

@@WorldOfWesteros that's what I enjoyed so much About this video... it clearly shows to the view how the seeds of the Dance were sewn ... How the precedent was set that no woman would should ever inherit the iron throne..
Daemon should have been betrothed to Viserys’ daughter from the very beginning, and the histories would have been completely different. The dance would have been avoided all together. Daemons kids both sat the Iron Throne but the way they got there was a painful thing for House Targaryen that they never recovered from.
Hindsight is 20/20. You have to think about why Viserys kept Otto as his hand. Westeros loved Jaehaerys, so imagine how much trust and respect he would’ve lost if he removed the man his father trusted so much. Viserys made the right decision in that moment to make sure the realm stayed at peace.
The Reign of King Jaehaerys is like, the dream of any Monarch, or even peasant. Granted, there's a few tragedies involved, in regards to personal family matters. But politically, handled like a champ.
THe only thing i can think to really criticize hims for is allowing the succession crisis to happen in the first place. He was a political savvy king, so must have foreseen damage a succession crisis could do. The Great Council was seen as a president, but Jaehaerys should have put something written in laws regarding how succession works and not leave to interpretation from two sides with clear bias
@@WorldOfWesteros I agree with this, actually. You make a very valid point. Once the Great Council had made their decision, he should've enacted that decision as essentially law. Basically saying something on the lines of; "In regards to inheritance of the Iron Throne, Male Primogeniture is the basis on which Westerosi Succession shall be based upon. Unless there are no other male options, be it by death, disputed heritage (potential bastard), or disinheritance, a woman cannot inherit the Iron Throne above her male family members. However, shall there be a case in which the firstborn son of the Lord or King in question be deemed unfit to rule, a Council of Petitions may be heard for the favor of a male member further down the line of succession" So, by the time of Viserys' reign, he'd have no choice but to name Aegon II the heir. Now, if Aegon II still wasn't down with being King, he could request to cite this Law to the Small Council, and abdicate his position to his younger brother Aemond. Which, in all honesty, may have been the best possible outcome for the sake of House Targaryen and a truly decent reign over Westeros if I do say so myself. Your thoughts?
I think this is a case of George having to fit the narrative of fire and blood retroactively around what was already established about the dance of the dragons. If he had Jaehaerys make succestion clear in laws after 101, the narrative of the dance of the dragons just would not work. It makes sense for jaehaerys character to have made male primogeniture law after naming Baelon and later 101, but it doesn't make sense for what was already set up for the dance. The biggest factor the green use to there favor when crowing aegon ii is the ruling of the great council of 101 as it sets male Primogeniture as the precedent. But precedent is not the same as law and without that law the dance was inevitable and at the whim of Viserys Targaryen, who's word is law at this point without a pre-established law. therefore we end up with the black and greens who in my view both have some very strong points when it comes to their claims to the throne. So you need that oversight by Jaehaerys to allow the story to function. At the end of the day, i think Jaehaerys thought setting the precedent was enough and could not predict the situation with Aemma Arryn's death and Vissy T remarrying opening the door to a succession crisis
@@WorldOfWesteros Agreed on all accounts, I suppose it would make sense to have Jaehaerys essentially believe that "yeah, this precedence has been set so, there we go, all settled", without technically making it law. So yeah, in order for the Dance to have happened with the rival parties both having strong claims, then a set Succession Law would've undermined that narrative. Or I guess, it would've made it less of a civil war and more so just Rhaenyra starting a Rebellion, cause if the law was set for Male Primogeniture then she and Viserys wouldn't have had as much a leg to stand on, and so there's less nuance cause then you'd have a strong argument that the Greens were following the actual law, and so the Dance isn't as muddled and nuanced. Kind of takes the fun out of the topic of a Civil War, in terms of writing
