All the fostering and marriages around country shows that a big alliance was already being forged, in order to take down Aerys II or at least protect themselves. During the previous peace time, all the great lords married their own noblewoman: Rickard Stark to a Stark cousin, his father Edwyle to a Locke, and his father Willam to a Glover, Hoster Tully to a Whent, Jon Arryn to a Royce, then an Arryn, Steffon Baratheon to a Estermont, Mace Tyrell to a Redwyne, etc. They knew war would come soon or later.
Isn’t it funny how viserys doesn’t realize that he isn’t the heir the sons of the first son come before the second born son. Technically aegon would be named king
After Rhaegar died, Aerys literally stripped Aegon and Rhaenys of inheritence and said Viserys was his heir. Aerys didn't trust the dornish at all and believed they conspired to kill Rhaegar, so he didn't want a half-martell inheriting the throne. He was mad.

I wonder if Robert was so angry because he really believed Lyanna had been abducted and raped, or because he knew Lyanna didn't want him and couldn't deal with the blow to his ego.
It was the 1st one he believed that Lyanna had been kidnapped and that the Targaryen's were unruly maniacs that had to be put down. Also the point of this war wouldn't just be a rebellion it would also seem like a rescue mission, which prompt soldiers to join the rebellion.
Yup. I think the show made it pretty clear that Littlefinger had created and spread the lie. Even then he was seeking his revenge against Brandon Stark and company. All events after the duel between Stark and Baelish need not have occured if Brandon had just killed him and got it over with. The lessons of all this are simple: never leave an enemy at your back, and revenge is a dish best served cold, so cold no one even realises it is revenge.
I am sorry Littlefinger was kid when the Rebellion what happen he had NO POWER then. He still nurse his cut by Brandon and he kick out by Cat's father.
A good line for Viserys would've been - "And when I sit upon the Iron Throne, those that rose against my house shall die in the ashes of their own houses"

Gods be good. I cant get enough of the westerosi lore read by the actor/characters themselves. The varys little finger part is great. Why dont they all pitch in to read their chapters and lines for the most epic game of audiobooks ever?😊
Sometimes ya gotta wonder why they bother changing the details for the show's Histories and Lore. Yeah, sometimes it's due to the age differences or fewer characters (like Davos having only one son), so it's understandable. But sometimes there's just absolutely no reason for it. Catelyn and Ned were together for a _fortnight_ before Ned had to get back to the war, not a night. And he was already back at Winterfell with baby Jon Snow when Catelyn arrived there with baby Robb after the war. Why bother changing that? Because it makes it seem more fortuitous if Ned knocked Catelyn up on the first try? Does it make it seem more dramatic if Catelyn is waiting longingly by the window for her man to come home, when she spots him from afar carrying a baby? Tropes.
I agree about changing a fortnight to a night. Seems pointless. But having Ned arrive with baby Jon, rather than Catelyn being the one to arrive, was probably indeed changed because the first option sounded more dramatic, for Ned to arrive with Jon. Btw, I kinda wish the show would at least have given Davos two children. The other one could very well have been kept entirely off screen. It just seems a little cruel to leave him childless.
@@darth856 Well, Davos also (briefly) spoke about his wife as if she was still alive in season 2. And then in all subsequent seasons, even though it was never clearly stated, he seemed to start regarding her as if she was his _late_ wife and had been for awhile. There was never any notion that there was some home for him to get back to one day. It's subtle but it's a very early sign of D&D not not having a solid plan and being all too willing to contradict what they'd already established for the sake of keeping it simple.
@@zardox78 I'll have to take your word for it. The last time I remember them mentioning his wife was in season 3, and it sounded like she was alive at that point at least.

poor stannis he was the mvp of greyjoy rebellion and played a big part in roberts rebeliion holding storms end but still robert and ned get most of the credit
I don’t know about him really playing a big part of Robert’s Rebellion, holding the castle wasn’t completely irrelevant or anything, but it was also very minor. Had Stannis surrendered, Mace simply would’ve sat and held the castle with some hostages and withdrawn upon the arrival of Ned, like normal, or been the one to deliver the final decisive end to the rebellion had Robert died. The Tyrell plan was always to appear to be supporting the crown by facing Robert in the field, then finding an excuse to not get too involved beyond that. They were playing both sides and just seeing who’d win. Didn’t want to commit too far to the war and risk the potential new king nor commit too little and risk Aerys coming down on them. It was a clever move really.
We need a Robert’s Rebellion series from HBO just to see the characters & these Westeros historic scenes brought to life. A young Robert Baratheon on the battlefield with his hammer & stag helmet dueling with prince Rhegar & shattering his ruby crested armor. The Mad King, a young Ned Stark & John Arryn , Ser Arthur Dane “ The Sword of the Morning” , Jamie Lannister earning his “The king slayer” name, Tywin Lannister ordering Gregor Clegane to murder Elia Martell & her children, “The day the smiles died” tournament, the escape of Daenarys & her brother, Davos “ The Onion Knight”…..The Battle of the Trident, The Battle of the Bells, The Seige of Storm’s End …… So much great material at their fingertips !

Rhegar himself was planning on overthrowing his father, but he was planning it too late before the rebellion occurred
It’s crazy how this was probably the most impactful event in the whole series and yet it’s all backstory
He was mad.
stephen kuchler aegon snow wasn’t born. Rheagars children were murdered by clegeane thus making viserys the true heir.
Seven hells, I miss how epic the show was in the early years

For Young Tyrion couldn’t pick because there are few actors with Dwarfism! So for this one just pick a new comer! Find a Little Person from the UK who’s young and looks somewhat like Peter Dinklage
Lol “as far as areys he must’ve been pissing himself” sounds like the words of king Robert😭😭
I wonder if Robert was so angry because he really believed Lyanna had been abducted and raped, or because he knew Lyanna didn't want him and couldn't deal with the blow to his ego.
Jennifer Brewer both
It was the 1st one he believed that Lyanna had been kidnapped and that the Targaryen's were unruly maniacs that had to be put down.
Jennifer Brewer, i think its both
Olenna should narrate the Tyrell part
Musicalfantastic I couldn't agree more! Love QOT.🌹
But she wasn't born a Tyrell, she only married into the family. She's a Redwyne.
@@FlowerTrollSan she was part of the tyrell family at that time anyways
@@Jockeylotforfun I'm a big fan
You know you did something right when you seal the narrative by Tywin Lannister himself.
Oberyn's lore story about his sister Elia was so awesome
"A single thrust was all it took, to end the greatest dynasty the world had ever seen."
That's pretty gnarly not gonna lie!
A good line for Viserys would've been - "And when I sit upon the Iron Throne, those that rose against my house shall die in the ashes of their own houses"
Petyr and Varys fighting is making my day.
I love how you have to piece together the truth by cross-referencing and understanding each persons biases.
They should have made a show out of this.
They probably will
It takes away the mystery of it

Charles Dance as Tywin is such a great casting choice that voice just speaks for itself
8:53 stannis part is the best
I like how Tywin explained it like he was doing good
Targaryen reign wasn't peaceful for 300 years. Not counting the conquest There's the War against the Faithful Militants, Dance of the Dragons and Blackfyre Rebellions
When they say peaceful, they mean relatively speaking. I believe there are some other lore videos whre this is cleared up.
Thats because the narrator is biased
He said stable.
@@sigmalpha_testostronewolf yup margaery says that her father mace beat robert when it was the tarlys

Its often said that one of the inspiration for GOT was the english war of the roses but i would say a more accurate historical comparison would be the first scottish war of independance. Many claimants to many thrones. Politics v unity more plots than fiction
Be a Stannis. Not because it’s cool. Not because it’s the right thing to do.
Be a Stannis, because you’ll be remembered… as awesome as you were. You always had the potential, and you proved it.
I love listening to all the different POVs talking about their viewpoints and where thet stood in regards of Roberts rebellion.Ive always enjoyed these "Histoies&Lore vids.
ROBERTS REBELLION& Animated version of the TARGARYANS CONQUEST are my 1 favourite ones i think
Mark Addy was an epic King, love his voice in this reading.
The two things I want most is a Roberts rebellion series and a dunk and egg series
I love these GoT lore videos.. all these years later I’m still watching.
A mini series on this would be so tremendous, something feels so special about Roberts reign
Mark Addy (Robert) is terrific! It’s hilarious to think that he’s the same actor who played the doofy “Roland” in “A Knight’s Tale.”
Or Fred Flintstone
I love how all of the actors didn't just read the words, completely in character and stayed the course.
Mark Addy made sure it was Robert talking about Robert's rebellion. It's viserys himself talking about the Targaryens.
All of the spirit, bias, and pride still there
The only thing missing is Sean Bean narrating this.
Gods be good. I cant get enough of the westerosi lore read by the actor/characters themselves.
The varys little finger part is great.
Why dont they all pitch in to read their chapters and lines for the most epic game of audiobooks ever?😊
4:32 LMAO the eastereggs(Jaime ruthlessly becoming a King at the early draft of the story) and a foreshawdowing(The mad king's plan to burn the city)
"I saw many things in this world, but never justice. Until Stannis,"
Mark Addy's voice as Robert is amazing
I like how she said Eddard isn't built like that😂
I love Oberyn's voice.
SEVEN HELLS THAT WAS A GLORIOUS DAY
I’d pay any money to watch a show about the rebellion
I wish they'd do an entire video about "King Bread". One mention of him causing a riot in King's Landing then nothing...
King Bread is Azor Ahai.
King Bread just wants to feed the people. King Bread wages no wars, does no harm, and rustles no jimmies.
ALL HAIL KING BREAD
@@thispersonwriting1889 perfect words.
It would’ve been awesome if viserys would’ve been kind to Daenerys. They would of made a great team
Gods he was strong then.
I love how Bobbys recall of rebelion sound like late stage camping in Mount & Blade!
You've got to love Robert Baratheon🤗
How threatening the Martels sound, too bad their threats ended up as nothing in the show
Cat’s part was straight from the books.
A full cast reading of the books is a dream I still cling to but I think this is as close as we'll get
“I’ll show them Fury burns”

I'll be honest, I'd much rather see a prequel series about the rebellion instead of the 'Dance of Dragons'.
HBO was smart. They wanted to avoid the stench of the GoT finale, so they made a series without any of those characters.
I forgot they used to say Tyrell like Tirrell in Season 1 lol.
I really needed to see these, I've never seen them and it helps me work shit out lmao
Pedro Pascal....gods did he deliver that well. I really want to know how Dorne is going to get vengeance in the books. They will make the Lannisters suffer for everything
I love the detail in Petyr Baelish's voice, like he has a problem speaking, a hint at the way he was executed
Roberts voice cracks me up 😂😂 ..."cursed dragonkkkkhingssss"
I wish the Martells had their vengeance
poor stannis he was the mvp of greyjoy rebellion and played a big part in roberts rebeliion holding storms end but still robert and ned get most of the credit
@@brendan9868 clever but dishonourable and cowardly, happy they got wiped out (in the show at least)
I enjoyed every word of this.. masterful writing excellent delivery
Wait so that’s why Davos is called the onion knight? Because he smuggled in onions to feed the baratheons? Actually a really cool fact
We need a Robert’s Rebellion series from HBO just to see the characters & these Westeros historic scenes brought to life. A young Robert Baratheon on the battlefield with his hammer & stag helmet dueling with prince Rhegar & shattering his ruby crested armor. The Mad King, a young Ned Stark & John Arryn , Ser Arthur Dane “ The Sword of the Morning” , Jamie Lannister earning his “The king slayer” name, Tywin Lannister ordering Gregor Clegane to murder Elia Martell & her children, “The day the smiles died” tournament, the escape of Daenarys & her brother, Davos “ The Onion Knight”…..The Battle of the Trident, The Battle of the Bells, The Seige of Storm’s End ……
So much great material at their fingertips !
Jaime's perspective was badass tbh. Damn.
I’m up to Davos and ALL of them so far sound like the actors/actresses of the show! Amazing work!
they are the actors in the show
this is official material found in the dvd's for the show, they are the real actors
I could listen to these lore videos forever
Wilf Scolding is criminally underrated as an actor and voice actor.!
When was he talking?
Such a shame Sean Bean didn’t voice any of these
