Hiya, everyone! Just a wee update - I really want to make a video about how Lenny has been over the past couple of years. I'll have some time off after I sit my veterinary boards exam in April. He's currently doing well but had a long stay in hospital due developing a septic joint. He's still a bright, happy, hungry boy and he never fails to make us laugh every day. I hope to see you soon, Billie
Lovely Lenny, lovely pair of dogs. Love[d] my greyhounds/greyluchers. And you are right, they do make you laugh and smile everyday. Enjoy Lenny and his little friend. 40mph couch potatoes are the best! Best regards
@@frozencanuck6764could be a comfort thing. Muzzles usually aren't necessary for greyhounds once they become a family pet because they are usually very gentle. But when they're racing they need muzzles so they get used to that and because they are a very sensitive breed that doesn't handle changes in routine well he might feel more comfortable with it on while on a walk. He definitely looks quite comfortable with it on in these clips.
i don't think ppl realize how now you're more confident with showing your face. i'm really proud of you and i'm proud because you have a big heart and you decided to adopt this dog! good luck 💖
I watched a greyhound video a couple of weeks ago and now these are popping up in my feed. They seem like a great breed. I would consider taking one in, but I already have two adopted dogs. That's the most I can provide for. Great job for adopting Lenny. He's very sweet and it's clear you will give him a great home.
I have owned greyhounds, they are the easiest dogs to look after, very affectionate. They sleep a lot, big couch potatoes! Wonderful dogs, never regretted it, loved every minute that I had my boys. Don’t hesitate if you are thinking about it❤❤❤
My wife and I have adopted ex racer Greyhounds for almost 20 years and was lucky enough to adopt a whoops puppy, racing pupps are very expensive. Racers know nothing but the runs they live in,dirt for floors and a few handlers that work them. They almost universally love affection though if you go to the farms. Grey's zooming are a great experience in your living room, just pull your legs up to save the tailwhips. They love to talk and howl with reason. Always gravitate to the couch, neat to hear Lenny felt comfortable on yours the second night. They can play rough with the other dogs ,they are so fast, you just have to control it when necessary. Lenny is a beautiful white with spots, never have I seen that much white.
I can tell you a big part of the reason he made quick progress... he's found a family who sees the best in him and is giving him the love he deserves. None of this happens by accident. I hope they are both doing well!
Rescue greyhounds are just the most wonderful! We saved our Molly girl back in December and it’s been so rewarding watching her grow and develop her personality. Best of luck to you all in giving Lenny his forever home!
Had retired dog from Wimbledon in the seventies, and one from Hove in 2005, absolutely 💯 legendary pets,I'd recommend to all nice guys to re-home,they deserve the very best,as do all dogs, but I adore the greyhound.xx
My son adopted a retired racehound too. It took her a month or two to be acquainted with humans. Lian likes people, places, and getting petted. Lian loves attention. Good luck.
Wow Billie you have all my respect! I too often see people mindlessly get a dog without knowing the first thing about raising one, but you have so much knowledge about how to train a dog WITH issues. It makes me so happy that Finch and Lenny now have a happy, loving and caring home with you and Jack! Give them some cuddles from me :)
Aww this video made me so happy! Greyhounds are one of my favorite breeds, so I always love to see them, and it's clear how much you guys care and love him already. This is so sweet and I hope to see more of both Finch and Lenny in the future!
Oh my, your boy looks just like our dog. He sadly passed away at the age of 13 just a couple of weeks ago and seeing this video almost made me cry. I miss him so so much. Cherish every moment you get to spend with him. I’d give anything to have my boy back with me.
We have had rescue dogs and fosters my entire adult life, including a retired racer! Thank you for the honest and open video regarding the adoption of “pre-owned” fur babies and how they acclimate. Both of your babies are so cute and look very happy. ❤️
Beautiful, what some people don't realise is that retired Greyhounds are very curious and are let free when retire... Lost my boy Cecil 2 years ago (retired and 3rd time rescue after abandonment)... he was 13.5 years old, RIP sweetheart.

Gorgeous! That’s very similar to my own experience. I adopted a rescue, seven years ago. He‘s a Parson Russell Terrier, who was abandoned in France, and obviously, he‘s from a hunting line. Fortunately, I didn’t know anything about that, when I first got him, I simply fell in love with him, and love wins, even if things get pretty challenging. He‘s a people’s dog, but very insecure when it comes to meeting other dogs, which often led to barking or jumping at them, and it took me a while until I realized, that actually, he‘s scared of them, especially when they are taller than him. Going on walks with the same two females was a game changer. He made friends with them, was so much calmer, apparently he felt protected, having them around. So once I discovered that he had a soft spot for a collie type of females, I embarked on looking for a companion for him. We went to see several rescues, until we found one, he instantly bonded with. She is the complete opposite: Not a people’s dog at all, very scared of humans, but pretty easy around other dogs. She was returned three times from people who wanted to adopt her, especially because she’s difficult with smaller kids. Mr Terrier brought her out of her shell, while she managed to calm him down a bit in the house. Being a Canaan dog, she needs plenty of „quiet now“ in the house. We‘ve had her for almost four years now, and while I didn’t need a second dog for my personal happiness, my first dog absolutely did. Life is often easier, when you’re not alone, be you a human or a dog 😉 I really enjoyed your video, I could listen to you forever. Regards from Germany
Three years ago I got a dog and he was this stray dog they found in Mexico. We named him Joey and have loved him since. He had baaad separation anxiety. We went on this trip for 2 weeks and he pooed all over the rug we had(we did leave someone to take care of him). He would bark at everyone. But, he's better now and not like that any more. This past summer he has treated me more as an equal and I have a special bond with him now😁🐶

Thanks for the video, these dog adoption videos are my current addiction so I appreciate the longer one to satiate my need for the unique good feels they give you. Off topic, out of all the people I’ve ever seen with dyed hair, yours is the most perfectly suited colour. If you said you were born with pink hair, I wouldn’t be surprised lol. It looks excellent. All the best to you guys and your doggos for the future 👍
Congratulations on your new fur baby! We adopted our retired racer last March. She is a beautiful wonderful love bug. Her name is Rainy and she had been racing in Daytona Beach Florida. I wish you many many greyt years with Lenny!
I adopted a pit bull a few years ago and it’s so exciting but a lot of work! He’s so happy and healthy now, much better than being left at the shelter of course :) Wishing you luck with your new dog!
I can’t believe that the first family returned him after the first week because he was a little stubborn and stopped at shops?? Since beginning of February we have a rescue dog from Romania and the first month he would stop every time when we passed pedestrians (We think he was looking for his foster mummy). He also had really bad diarrhea at the beginning due the stress of adjusting to a new home. But now after this first month he was not doing any of this anymore at all. The dog first needs to adjust to it‘s new home, it can take a while.
Greyhounds do their own thing- leave music on - that will help with separation anxiety-he’s been abandoned twice in his mind-so time will also help- and yes greys very athletic- so don’t leave anything in his sight!
Hey Billie! It's so incredible seeing your big heart for dogs. I was so happy seeing your video, because I like people who can express their happiness naturally. And that's what I love about your vids and your character. You are giving me strength. I am struggling finding myself at the moment, but seeing you shows me a way to be more like I want to be. Thanks for that!
What you said about having 2 dogs is like having 1 is 100% true!! When we got our kitten Oliver almost a year ago, it was a bit of a challenge to have him fit in with our other cat Onyx (rip sweetie), but when we got cat 3 (Oscar), it was actually pretty easy and absolutely goes along with what you mentioned. Also Lenny is absolutely precious 🥺 you're doing so good with training him so far :DD
Its sad that he was just found and placed in a regular rescue. We have 3 and they many times have to learn stairs, other dogs, separation anxiety, and being a dog. They are completely different than other dogs. Time and patience helps. Our greys stop all the time and are very inquisitive. They are also very sensitive to feelings, emotions, and the temperament of their people. I'm glad the other family returned him, THEY were the wrong fit for Lenny. I'm more afraid that other dogs are more worrisome to my greys than the other way around. How's Lenny doing today? My icon image is Raven, one of our greys.
Hi there! Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment! I agree, it’s too bad that he couldn’t spend time in a greyhound-specific rescue first. Teaching him stairs was quite the conundrum! And yes, his previous owners were definitely the wrong fit for him. He needed far more patience and hands-on work. He is doing fantastic, now. Thank you for asking. I’m saving up for a new camera so that I can make an update video so I’ll let you know when I post it ☺️
No need for fancy training regiemes all you have to do is be consistant begin with five minutes then a few days later say 10 minutes until you reach two hours then he is used to you leaving and actually looses his sense of timing. Its like getting a new puppy home with the diffrence that he is full grown. I recomend warm coats for winter and for spring and Autum and a warm fleece for spring and a rain coat for when it rains.Sighthounds like greyhounds only have one layer of hair and no body fat which means that cold goes straight into muscles and organs.
I live in N Ireland and have 3 sight hounds all rescued, if you saw what was done to them you'd understand why they've got issues, its beyond your imagination what terrible way they're treated, Lenny is a lucky dog to be alive, its disgusting.
You seem to be very aware and interested in dealing with whatever abnormalities you may encounter with a greyhound. Lenny is very lucky to have had you, and Finch to help him adjust.
Adorable greyhound! This showed up in my UA-cam recs (given my watch history lol) and I’d love to know how he’s doing. They can take time to acclimate for sure. One of mine is almost 11 and his stubbornness never went away completely 🙈 Hope you are well! Exam season is definitely tough!
God, he’s beautiful! 1) leave a radio on a dog relaxation channel 2) leave him a shirt with your scent on it. This helped my Whippet a ton when I left.
He is beautiful I have had two greyhounds and will get another one next week My 2nd greyhound Winstin passed away 6 weeks ago at 13 years old. My 1st greyhound Maxmillion passed away 7 years ago at 14.5 years old. Maxi would never stand to be left at home so I would have to get dressed outside. Winstin loved the attention although he did not panic when I would leave. Both of them were freaked out over stairs and they never were good with tiled floors as they would lose their footing I have not stoppied crying over Max and now Winstin
Ahhhh Lenny, we love you so much! I'm living vicariously through you guys, I've wanted to rescue an ex-racer for so long but it's impossible because I also have cats 😂
I adored my off-the-track grey. He was very sweet, loving, and goofy. It would be wonderful to have another, but we have since moved to a farm and there are too many hazardous places that would rip through such thin skin. Then, there’s no way to contain a grey here; too many fenceless areas on nine acres!
How long does he have to be muzzled outside? I would like weekly updates 😊. You seem like the perfect person to take him in. You guys are awesome. We’re you ever worried by his size since you are smaller yourself? (As you’ve stated in other videos) what would he do if not muzzled in public is it something he was taught in racing? Also if he raced and is a puppy wow how young do they race them at?
I think he is supposed to be muzzled, in public, indefinitely. However, over the next few months, I'll keep a close eye on his behaviour and possibly re-assess/have a conversation with a behaviourist at my uni. He will 100% never be off-lead AND off-muzzle in public. For example, if we take him to an off-lead dog park, I would have his muzzle on. The fear is that he would harm a cat (he doesn't look at small hairy dogs the way that he looks at squirrels and cats but I still need to be extra cautious in the early stages). The racers are taught to obsess over and chase a "lure" that resembles a small furry critter. When he plays with toys that are similar to a lure, like the rug in our bedroom lol, he mimics killing it. His size doesn't startle me, actually! I grew up with rescues that weighed more than him (and had worse leash training) and I'm quite confident in my ability to manage dogs. They're not supposed to start racing before they are one-year old... we're unsure if he ever raced! He is quite young. But he definitely knows what a lure is!
Awww hi Billie! I’m so happy for you! Greyhounds are so cute and wholesome, and a little silly if you watched Jenna marbles 😜 besides that I’m so happy for you! Bringing a new member into the family can be stressful, exciting, and very special! So congrats!!! I hope Lenny loves his new home with babey Finch you and Jack! ❤️Edit: 7:59 I’m dead he is so cute! I love when dogs are sleepy and still wanna know what’s goin on but wanna see you 🥺
What a great, helpful video, thank you so much 😊 you're a great dog mom, I can tell.....I also have to tell you that I LOVE your hair! Perfection! Blessings to you and yours 🙏
We adopted an 11 year old whippet, he was a bag of bones, very frightened, and non responsive, really gentle old guy. 2 years along and he now wags his tail and has opened up to us, very loving. The only thing that hasn't changed is his desire for food. All good, he has had a hard life and now he is a part of our family, he is fed and walked and loved.
I've noticd that a lot of greyhounds are kept muzzled, and that puzzles me. They're not vicious dogs by nature. They hardly ever even bark. Why the muzzle?
Hi there! You're right, Lenny isn't vicious in the slightest. But because he is a sighthound, he has a very high prey drive. This is exacerbated by him being an ex-racer. And so, if he were to cross paths with a cat, by accident, he would do his best to kill it. Same goes for small furries and birds. Trust me, he barks incessantly if he sees a squirrel :) EDIT: TLDR; The muzzle is for the safety of what he considers to be prey
@@BillieJane Yeah - I have a crossed Whippet/Lurcher - like an oversized Whippet (almost the size of a Greyhound), and he's tempramentally very similar. We got him as a 4-month puppy, and he's coming up for 5 years now. He has chased cats a few times, but he has never caught one - and honestly, I don't think he'd know what to do if he did catch one. He used to chase birds, but he has realised now that they can do something he can't, and he doesn't bother any more. He has also chased deer on three occasions, and on one occasion, I saw that for quite some distance (a quarter mile) he was faster, then it started to open the gap again. He was a black dot in the distance, but he came trotting back again. The others have thankfully always got away through hedges by some sort of magic, where he couldn't follow. His recall is not anywhere as good as some dogs, but he's never far away - up to 50 yards, maybe - and when called, he comes back - but in his own time. We have a cat as well - quite a nasty piece of work, it is, and the dog is _very_ wary of it. If ever there's a territorial contention, the dog _always_ backs down. He has never worn a muzzle.
@@DownhillAllTheWay It's important to consider the context of Lenny being an ex-racer. He spent a couple of years spending his only time outside of his kennel chasing a small fluffy lure that he was allowed to tear up if he caught it. And he's 100% greyhound. The muzzle is purely for the safety of animals around him. I hope that makes sense :3
I love Lenny so much, i hope you make another video about your dogs (no pressure of course) I was very excited when i saw you uploaded again so hopefully you will continue uploading!
My Mum and I had a Lurcher (Greyhound x Collie) for almost nine years and a Greyhound for almost a decade. They were off lead hundreds of times over the years in non enclosed areas without incident and there were no requirements to muzzle them (again no incidents as both had excellent bite inhibition). We now have another Greyhound (who we adopted on the 24th of September of this year) and she does not need a muzzle either. We are still working on getting her to the point of being off lead in non enclosed areas. I also know of plenty other Greyhounds who can be off lead and unmuzzled. I am sick of adoption groups/rescues who insist on all Greyhounds needing to be leashed and muzzled in public (and they seem to be more prevalent in the US and Canada - we are in the UK) . It is grossly unfair to the dogs and it sad that will be required of beautiful and mild mannered Lenny for the rest of his life.
I'm rescuing a galgo after my whippet boy had to be put down because of cancer and internal bleeding, and rn I'm binge watching people talking about galgos and greyhounds
I'd recommend buying him a kong toy and putting something for him to snack on inside! To destract him instantly from the fact you're gone for long periods of time! You're doing much better than most pet parents when it comes to seperation anxiety! Goregous man, hope you guys the best of luck with your new baby!
@@BillieJane he may simple not like the peanut butter, which would be surprising seeing as most dogs go nuts for it. You're progress so far is amazing, especially for a racing greyhound, you guys really lucked out with him being younger. If the peanut butter doesn't seem to be working, I'd suggest trying to feed his actual meals through the kong or brain toys! Brain toys will definitely destract him. And the feeding the meals through the kongs, if kibble of course mixed with wet food just in case the dry isn't as interesting, though he may love his dry kibble enough to not care too much. You're a veterinariary student, I'm sure you'll know what's best for your babies! So good luck, you might have to experiment a lot with him! Looking forward to the next stream whenever it may be
we’ve also tried squeeze cheese - he’s interested in it until one of us leaves. note that both of us have yet to leave... that’s how bad it is. he screams when one of us is still here (very strange, even for separation anxiety) his separation anxiety is one of the worst cases i’ve ever come across in years of clinical experience 😣 but according to literature, distraction via foraging toys only works for mild cases (so I wasn’t expecting it to be my miracle cure and was ready to counter-condition him for months 😂)

And that's what I love about your vids and your character. You are giving me strength. I am struggling finding myself at the moment, but seeing you shows me a way to be more like I want to be. Thanks for that!
This is absolutely precious ❤!! I love their sweet relationship! What a priceless blessing 🙌
You and jack are such good dog parents! I'm so happy everything is working out! He's adorable
aww thank you!! we really appreciate it 🥰
What you said about having 2 dogs is like having 1 is 100% true!!
What a beautiful greyhound! My first dog was a borzoi, so sighthounds are really special to me. They will chase anything that moves, though.
He seems so sweet! I love the interactions between finch and Lenny
Lenny is so cute! I think that it's so amazing that you guys adopted! Hope you have fun. I wish you luck on many moments with Lenny!
We have had 3 Greyhounds... love them.... LENNY is amazing!! By the way.... Love the COTTON Candy Hair!! GO GREYHOUNDS
Do they go with you on your runs and bikeing trips?
I live in N Ireland and have 3 sight hounds all rescued, if you saw what was done to them you'd understand why they've got issues, its beyond your imagination what terrible way they're treated, Lenny is a lucky dog to be alive, its disgusting.
You seem to be very aware and interested in dealing with whatever abnormalities you may encounter with a greyhound. Lenny is very lucky to have had you, and Finch to help him adjust.
Thank you for respecting Lenny’s individual issues and personality!! You are an angel - just what Lenny deserves❤
Wow! Wonderful video Billie! You're so good at story telling and it was so informative!
I'd love to see more vids of them, updates etc
aww thank you! that's so kind of you to say! and i'll be sure to update ya on his progress
Thank you so much for giving him love.
God, he’s beautiful! 1) leave a radio on a dog relaxation channel 2) leave him a shirt with your scent on it. This helped my Whippet a ton when I left.
Great video I've had 2 rescue greyhounds wonderful pets.
Finch and Lenny are a great team. Looking forward to udates.
Beautiful story x
I'm living vicariously through you guys, I've wanted to rescue an ex-racer for so long but it's impossible because I also have cats 😂
oof... yeah... lenny was QUITE keen to stare down a cat at the vet the other day :o
Absolutely beautiful. ❤️
i’m so happy you made this video☺️it is so inspirational💕and yes please more puppy videos🥳🥳🥳
Aww what a cute dog! I love animals so I'm super happy you gave this little guy a home!
Thanks for your video. Very informative and I adore your love for the two gorgeous dogs.
Lenny is so cute! and all the "direct quotations" from them- lol I died
Soooo cute! Your home looks so cosy and homely!
this is so cute! finch seems so happy to have a brother 🥰
she adores him
How long does he have to be muzzled outside?
Your doggies are adorable, what a wonderful family..
THESE DOGS ARE SO WONDERFUL!
Awww he’s such a cutie! I would absolutely love to see more videos of them both!
Lenny is such a sweetie! Congrats on your new family member 😊
Hi Billie! Lenny is so handsome! I cant wait to see updates! So glad he’s in an amazing home!
He’s beautiful I haven’t seen an all white one! We adopted one 6 months ago although our guy never hit the track, it’s been a journey lol 😊 good luck!
Trust me, he barks incessantly if he sees a squirrel :)
EDIT: TLDR; The muzzle is for the safety of what he considers to be prey
@@BillieJane Yes. Your explanation entirely makes sense. My answer was just chat between two people with similar dogs. It wasn't a criticism.
I love Lenny so much, i hope you make another video about your dogs (no pressure of course) I was very excited when i saw you uploaded again so hopefully you will continue uploading!
of course! I could talk about my dogs for hours on end 😂
the way his ears flop when he walks :o so adorable
WHY IS HE SO CUTEE?!!?!? I love him billie! he seems like a very sweet dog :). Cant wait to see and hear more about him
My Mum and I had a Lurcher (Greyhound x Collie) for almost nine years and a Greyhound for almost a decade. It is grossly unfair to the dogs and it sad that will be required of beautiful and mild mannered Lenny for the rest of his life.
this video warmed my heart!!! lenny is so adorable 😊
I'm rescuing a galgo after my whippet boy had to be put down because of cancer and internal bleeding, and rn I'm binge watching people talking about galgos and greyhounds
Wow, first time to your channel. Absolutely love, love the hair.
Congratulations! Such a cutie!
I got familiarized with Greyhounds and Iggys watching Jenna Marbles videos 😄
I'd recommend buying him a kong toy and putting something for him to snack on inside! To destract him instantly from the fact you're gone for long periods of time! You're doing much better than most pet parents when it comes to seperation anxiety! Goregous man, hope you guys the best of luck with your new baby!
he has a chew toy that we put peanut butter in for only when one of us leaves. but unfortunately, it doesn’t work for him 😣
@@BillieJane he may simple not like the peanut butter, which would be surprising seeing as most dogs go nuts for it. Looking forward to the next stream whenever it may be
we’ve also tried squeeze cheese - he’s interested in it until one of us leaves. note that both of us have yet to leave... that’s how bad it is. he screams when one of us is still here (very strange, even for separation anxiety) his separation anxiety is one of the worst cases i’ve ever come across in years of clinical experience 😣 but according to literature, distraction via foraging toys only works for mild cases (so I wasn’t expecting it to be my miracle cure and was ready to counter-condition him for months 😂)
billie i remember when you found bones and you scared the crap out of finch lol
He looks so cute and playful, hope u had a good day billie ♥️
I've been having a lovely day, Norah. I hope you have, as well
This video made me so happy, I love your dogs so much and I’d love to see more videos like this they r so fun to watch💕💜
