That's very harmful for a dog actually
in moderation, yes go ahead and give them all your love. buy them toys and treats. but over-feeding is a major issue, and puts them at great harm. being obsessive about them & invading their space is not good. moderation is key!
@@HL-vt9ep spoiling a kid, a dog or anyone else is another form of abuse that invalidates their ability to function. You have to _stabilise_ the abused one, not put it through another form of abuse for your own enjoyment. I feel like if you don't know the boundary - you are not ready to rescue. (However, the dog in the video may have OCD, but I talk in general)

Don't forget their wouldn't be greyhounds or other running dogs, if it wasn't for chasing rabbits, that's why they are breed. I agree the running sports are ridiculous and in that format should be forbidden. But a greyhound is about running just like a whipped and other breeds. Don't use that running as sport but as fun. Easy as that. They love to run.
@jichu I think the same, its fine to let greyhounds race they love running. They deserve and need love more though, if they went home after the race with their family and were loved then the racing is fine its the treatment after the race that needs to change.

I've an old couch in my study and one time my dog was refusing to sit on it, kept barking at me to get my attention. I finally gave in and started searching the couch and found a small piece of paper wedged between the cushions. Once I took it away she jumped on it. If that is not being a diva, I don't know what is.

I just rescued a greyhound that was abused horribly by a woman and her young daughter. It took three months for Honey to sleep in my bed or get around me but now she’s a diva too 💕

I just lost my greyhound Honey a couple weeks ago after 17 years of being inseparable, went with me everywhere, the store, vacation, doggy ice cream parlor, daily park, doggie summer camp…and I’ll never love another girl the way I loved her :(

My sister had a rescued greyhound for years. Ci was a couch potato apart from two short walks with zoomies daily. After my sister had cancer, then more cancer Ci was her unconditional best friend. Alas it got to a point she had to be rehomed as a seneir citizen dog & went to live with a boy with a disability. After one visit my sister knew it was the right decision. They went everywhere together, Ci sat listening to the boy read her books & was so well behaved she gets to go to school some days to listen to other children read & get lots of pats & hugs.
That dog is a GAP. A Greyhound Australian Princess.

I had a dog like her. We called her Vanilla. She had also been rescued and still had the scars of being stabbed with knives by the previous assholes who had her. She was very calm and reserved, but she was very loving and would sometimes get hyper and play a bit. I remember the first time she ever barked. Gave my mother and I a heart attack. Just this loud, sudden 'BOOO!' that echoed through the house. She wanted treats.
I just love her two front teeth! They are so different than any other dog I've ever seen. LOL

Sean Alexander thank you 🙏 100 % agree they are born to have a job and run and she makes it seem like they are they most beat things they are perfectly fine and many love what they do and those that don’t are In retirement people need to educate before they share things that they don’t fully know to the world 🤷♀️

Every Sunday, I get a tall dark roast and a spinach feta wrap in the drive thru and, I guess they know us pretty well! The barista always asks, "oh, do you also need a puppacino?" Everyone loves greyhound Sal!

I have a greyhound too!! Except he's scared to walk on wood and HATES bubbles because he's also scared of those. He raced for 4 years. Now he lounges around all day😁. He chatters all the time and loves to snuggle. He has his own fan and won't lay down unless his fan is turned on😂. He's an amazing dog. I also love their big noses😂😄

Greyhounds ( and whippets) are the sweetest dogs. They love lounging, snuggling, gamboling. I’ve seen my older whip boy do the chattering thing too.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for rescuing an ex racer.Their lives are a complete misery,they are just a commodity for the owners to make money.Their welfare is just incidental,and many suffer long time trauma once they are no longer earning money .

given that hunting hounds have spent 10s of thousands of years in very close contact with humans (more so than most other types of dogs), it's an utter tragedy to think that most racing greyhounds are kennelled for 20+ hours a day
so, izaac, i think my reply would be that greyhounds - especially - deserve a family social life

The Rock I've owned 5 dogs in my life (so far), they ranged from 75-110lbs. While i do prefer larger dogs, i realize that they're not for everyone.

Salty just loves the interaction- she didn't get any attention when abused by former owner, so now she is soaking attention in.
My dad once told me that Greyhounds are used for racing and they get put down at about the age of 2 so I think it's very important for these dogs to get rescued. Also, Salty is the cutest💟💟💟💟
Your dad is wrong. Greyhounds usually race until they are 4 to 5 years old before they are retired and go to adoption groups to be adopted. They are not put down. They have a 98% adoption rate, more than any other breed in the world. Every greyhound gets a good home when their racing is over. A lot of the owners keep their greyhounds. They are the best kept dog breed in America.
That goes for America. Check out what happens to them in Ireland.
Ireland cares for their greyhounds also, but there are some bad owners that just don't care. But a lot of Irish greyhounds get adopted or even sent here to the USA for racing and adoption. I adopted a greyhound from Ireland about 10 years ago. She raced here before I adopted her. So all Irish greyhounds are not put down.
I fostered 18 Irish Greyhounds and adopted one of them. I am still working daily with the Greyhound Rescue, though I paused fostering due to my current work schedule. Yes, the situation in Ireland improved over the past few years thanks to many organisations who take care of the Greyhounds but there are still thousands of them dying each year. Way too many...

I have adopted an ex racer greyhound. He is 4 years old now and he has me in stitches in the things he does. He is very good with children and loves water. Greyhounds are remarkable dogs and make great pets.
