- I decided to follow my Greyhound, Tosh on her 6th birthday May 9th 2023!
Hi, I’m Steph! A DIYer, author, and podcast host. I live in Tallahassee, FL with my adopted greyhound, Tosh. She is a retired racer adopted from Greyhounds as Pets in Jacksonville, FL.
I adopted Tosh in 2020, and she was born 2017.
My first greyhound, Mac, passed away in Jan 2023. The names Mac & Tosh were a reference to my favorite computer, the Macintosh.
Every greyhound is different and I am just sharing my experience with my greyhounds. This is for entertainment purposes.

Cuute. My grey also just turned 6 Sunday. Unfortunately I had to work overtime and couldn't spoil her fully.

What an absolutely beautiful greyhound lassie you have!! Greyhounds are so soulful and sweet and despite their tall stature they are so nimble and elegant. Tosh is the best good girl and deserves all the treats!!

I have a male brindle ex-racer greyhound. He does exactly the same things. We go for 2 0.75 or 1 mile walks. He sleeps/lounges around the house and sleeps at the door outside of my room. Best dog ever!

Ah…happy birthday Tosh!! 🎈🍰💕 Better late than never. I give my greyhound a party every year and he loves it. I’ve had up to 25 dogs (I invite my fellow apartment tenants and have bagels/coffee/water and dog treats!!). Striker is now 13 years. I have had him only 2 yrs 4 mos. So beautiful. We’ve got two boys. Has anyone else noticed that kind of lip and tongue smacking they do when they’re happy to see you? Not the teeth chattering, I know about that. It’s very subtle and took me ages to pick up on it, but I noticed Tosh doing it here and have always found it curious and unique.
She looks just like my boy Sancho, same age too. I wonder if they’re litter mates?

I've heard that these dogs are real couch potatoes. My spirit greyhound is in Heaven having the ball
of her life. I've told her that she needs to keep an eye on all my other Pekingnese dogs. (Also, couch
potatoes).

How amazingly different (and serene) than my GSD+Dutch cross. He does not do anything by himself, always after me. This video would be like recording my shadow. That watching the squirrel part, for example, would be me watching if he is going to break the window. Meeting with other dogs peacefully? 👹 Enjoy your wonderful Greyhound.

Greyhounds are great. I've had some and they're all the same. Mega Olympian athletes one hour per day and laaaaaaaid back for the other 23. I wouldn't want to take one to a pet store though. They have terrible social anxiety and the panting and dehydration can get pretty bad.

She gets a snack, then decides to deal with a more pressing problem: a nap.
My dad's greyhound does the exact same thing with his ears when he is interested in something. I like to call it "yellow alert".
Thank you for sharing this! It’s strange how much joy a simple video can bring… I currently have 2 ex racers brindle and a black. Lovely seeing Tosh with the fawn male (the fawns are stunningly beautiful). Do they run together?
They run a little bit. Tosh doesn't run as much as my first greyhound did, but they run a little bit at the dog park. Mostly sleep all day 😆
I’m looking forward to having a sight hound where I can give wayyyy more treats and them not gain weight. My current dog I have to really watch. I ended up getting my girl fat. And on top of that I was FAT SHAMED . :(. But I adjusted her health and did more open space running. Still, even with that, I have to watch what she eats. Currently she is perfect.
Poeple should not fat shame even towards animals. Some breeds put on weight more easily such as basset hound, pit bulls and even labs. ❤
Awesome stuff. I have always adored greyhounds and my goal is to rescue one when the time is right, i.e, a bigger flat/house.
I always find it strange that regardless of how well treated greyhounds are, and even ones that have never been raced, still have the inbred compulsive nature towards small fluffy animals 😊.
Just FYI my sister and brother-in-law have always been able to teach their rescue greyhounds to manage stairs so don’t wait for a flat house!
@@christinestewart9374did the same with my lurcher(whippet/saluki cross) stairs are a doddle for her now.

I have had 2 Greys and we only have one left and she's almost 11. UGH! I absolutely adore this breed and wish I could have 50 of them. I've had many different breeds of dogs in my life but they are my favorite! There is just something so unique and precious about them...they are a bit needy and high-maintenance but worth every single minute of disruption and cost. When we take them into Lowe's and Home Depot, the customers usually always ask, "Omg, is that really a Greyhound?" We say, "Yes!" They'll say, "We've never seen one in real life. They are so beautiful." We get this comment all the time and I think it's so cute.
