Thank you so much for your video, you seem like such a great relaxed chill person. Me and my fella are about to adopt our first ever dog, we pick her up on the 25th she's also a greyhound, I'm nervous about toilet training etc. I hope it works out for us. This video made me feel more at ease.
Hello!! Sorry about the delay I have noticed you’ve fired a few questions over on other videos so I’ll get to you on those too! Has your lady doggo arrived yet?? I can’t take too much credit for how pippin has turned out, he has been super easy going from day one (apart from the ‘refusing to leave the house’ bit) so I can’t vouch for all of these tall squirrels to be as sensible as Pippin - but I’m sure yours will turn out brilliant too, they’re so weird but so nice to be around!
@@ABrummieWunders we brought her home yesterday and she's been brilliant, no accidents in the house, no damage just a dream, the only thing is she hates her reflection in the TV, other shiny objects so barks at and growls, hoping she stops doing that.
That's brilliant! How has it been getting it sorted with the current world measures? We got ours very early on so there wasn't too much in place at the time - but we still haven't got round to the 'home visit' bit, haha! hope the month wait goes nice and quick for you - Just uploaded an update on pippins sore paws and how we get around that, keep us in mind if you come across any issues!
@@ABrummieWunders I'm getting her from the greyhounds Trust in Wolverhampton (which it looks like you may have too looking and your doggo's coat in the video?) and they're not doing home visits still at the moment but they're just asking you to provide photos of your property etc. We we're meant to get on the 15th but on the day she was meant to get spayed she came into season and the vet advised they wont do the op for another month so we're having to wait for that to be done before we can get her which is frustrating but complete out of everyone's control! I've just subscribed so I'm sure you'll see me in the comments section again soon :)
Sorry about the delay Louise! I think we were crazy lucky with Pippin - the most stress he's ever shown with us being away is stealing the shoes! He's never destroyed anything in the house, soiled the house whilst we're out and we never had any reports of barking from the neighbours, so all good so far! We try and keep it at a 6 hour maximum on his own, but he can sleep for 10+ hours straight so he has a massive bladder i think :)
Hm, I have a labrador who throws a tantrum if I walk him for under 2 hours, just got back from a 3 hour walk, seems if I get a grey ill have to take a shorter loop, drop the grey off and continue with my lab
Ha! Yeah, I think that’s going to be the best way - pippin has done some long long walks before but the main pain in the arse if that he isn’t a massive fan of drinking water anywhere but in the house so it’s more the worrying that he’s dehydrated that keeps the walks shorter anyway.
@@ABrummieWunders my lab digs in water bowls that aren't his even if he's dehydrated, I wonder if due to their differing personalities they'd even notice each other most of the time
Nice video. Not sure if you have done this already, but if you add tags to your video it will increase the reach of your video. I add as many as I can to my videos and it does seem to help. Just add as many relevant tags as you can such as adopting a Greyhound, greyhound adoption and so on. This will help to grow your viewers quickly. Hope this helps. I had a slow start with my videos, but I am happy to share tips with fellow greyhound owners. Glad you found my videos useful.
Some more tips to get more viewers. I previously closed down all my own social media accounts but I set up a Facebook page for Magnus and joined a bunch of greyhound groups. I also post links to my videos on there. Groups such as iheartgreyhounds, retired greyhound owners, retired greyhound chat. This will also increase your viewer's. All the best with your channel. The more greyhound videos out there the better. More will get adopted that way. I started to make my videos as I could not find many beyond the first day of adoption when we got Magnus. I wanted to learn as much as possible of bringing him home. So I decided to fill in the gaps. I kept making the videos as people would say that they helped them decide to adopt a greyhound. Your videos will no doubt do the same and help persuade others.
@@magnusgreyhound I’m a classic over thinker when it comes to ‘life decisions’ like this - but ultimately, the overthinking is was more stressful than the act of just owning a Greyhound and going with the flow! I spent so long thinking mostly of reasons why I shouldn’t have a dog rather than why I should - turns out living in a flat with no garden isn’t much of a stress at all. Pretty sure they have bigger bladders than us somehow! Thank you so much for all the help and pointers mate, very much appreciated! I’ll have to take the plunge back into the world of social media like you said, I broke out of it all about 2 years ago so it’s a scary concept now haha - atleast it’ll be all dog owners and not random people from the past this time! Thanks again bud
Re: grapes...they have a compound that's toxic to dogs. Chocolate too. Dogs evolved alongside us so they can eat most of what we can eat, but there are some exceptions.
Appreciate the info, thank you!! Such a shame they lost out on grapes - but pippin is very happy with most veg and fruit so far so he’s not missing out too much 🙂
Thank you for sharing this. Recently got a retired greyhound. First couple of weeks were really hard due to seperation anxiety however he has really settled in lately( its now a fight for who can take up the most room on the sofa🤣). Dont think hes read the same manual mind about lazing around as He loves exploring new places. 😊.
I have done another video about greyhound harness options if you dip back into the channel - the Rabbitgoo 3 way harness is brilliant, it essentially has a ‘belt’ that goes just under the rib cage which makes it generally impossible for them to slip out 🙂
Just a few thousand miles away from that one! This video is such a bad representation of Birmingham England though - it snows like that’s probably once every 5/6 years? I miss it now!
Your videos ace, I'm a few days into owning my Greyhound Draig and your advice is really useful. Thanks for making them.

I didnt think you could feel them straight after exercise as risk of bloat, we were always told to wait 1 hour either side.
