I already have the A7SII and I'm looking for a second camera that shoots 4k. Sounds like the A6500 might be that camera swing is how you judged them a tie for quality... thanks! If you or anyone had another suggestion, I'd love to hear it.
Nice video, thank you. I've owned and worked with the A7R ii, A7S ii and a6500 at some point. The main thing I'd say is that they are ALL amazing pieces of kit - none of them will disappoint. Pro's / Con's - a6500: amazing price - fantastic slo mo - very useable for photography - cropped sensor equals much lighter and cheaper glass (check out the Sigma 1.4 primes) yet still the same sensor size as the very best cinema cameras (Super 35mm) - very useable low light - best menu of the three - outstanding face tracking autofocus // rubbish viewfinder, small body equals less buttons so more using the menu system (if body size really is an issue get the battery grip) - cropped sensor means 'converting' lens lengths in your head - clients sneer at a supposedly non-pro camera. A7S ii: Never need to buy lights, ever, if you don't want to - BS factor for pro use, all clients have heard of it even though cheaper than A7R ii! - beautifully clean 4k in almost all lighting conditions - full frame so easier to get very wide shots (I never notice any difference in shallow DOF over Super 35mm / cropped sensor but wide is particularly great on gimbals) // autofocus not the greatest - nastiest menu of the three - same photo resolution as the Canon 5D from 2005 - no Super 35mm mode in 4k (needs digital zoom workaround). A7R ii: incredibly detailed photos, crop to a ridiculous amount if you need to or supply clients with monster file sizes - extremely clean in Super 35mm mode, low light comparable performance to A7S ii - good autofocus, not quite at a6500 levels but still very good with some glass - beautifully clean 4k in good light - lower ISO in SLOG // low light can quickly get nasty in full frame - pathetic slo-mo capability past 60fps. My fave? I use the A7R ii these days. There's nothing it can't handle and is the best all-round. Thanks to the Super 35mm crop mode which sorts out the low-light issue it takes on the A7S ii in that regard. I can use for video all the time and for the occasional photography job it's one of the best stills cameras ever made. Gimbal work is great as it's full-frame so very wide - having said that I use the Sigma 16mm 1.4 prime in Super 35mm mode (24mm equiv.) and it looks stunning. I still often look at the a6500 though and wish I still had it and may yet buy again - the slo mo is outstanding and if your clients don't care about BS factor (I literally had one complain outloud that my camera wasn't 'big enough') you should get it; even if you go for one of the bigger ones in time it will always be an outstanding B-camera.
Hi, please could you add both a screen shake and shaking text also could you make it so we can decide how much we can shake the screen or text. It would be an amazing feature to add in Filmora please add this as fast as possible!! Thank you!
Buy a Canon G7x to start off. Its a great vlogging camera at around 500 - 650 dollars. Then I prefer a Canon 80d, or you can buy one of these sony cameras. What ever you prefer
A7sii for video and a6500 for photography stills. Although for more professional video recording both Sony cameras don't really hit the mark, you would need a camera that shoots in 10bit, 12 bit, or raw video with a better video codex.
It was helpful thank you. I want the a7sii but it’s just so damn expensive, plus another grand for Lens. Ugh. I don’t know if I should wait or just get the 6500
Hey :-) This video was helpful but to my mind, you forget something very important and crucial : the autofocus ! I started with a A7SII but I finally add to my set a A6300 because its autofocus is better and faster than the A7SII. On my gimbal I always put the A6300 because of that. Chris from France.
OK filmora. What the fuu! OK. Im going to do my best to keep my cool. But I now need to subscribe to get effects because I already have them?? If it doesn't make sense i'll try to clarify. I am currently editing a UA-cam video. And I was going to use the ruby filter for the video. But a message pops-up saying that I need a subscription. OK. Ii get if you're trying to shut people who crack your system. But why am I being shut down. Last I remember is getting them from your OWN website. So I don't know if it's an error. Or whatever. But I need it fixed.
Awww thanks for this good know could do more videos like this still can’t choose I want both haha I love flimora 😁 I always tell my supporters to get it ❤️
I choose the a7sii because I love the low light video it produces. I am adding the RX 100 V to my sony collection just for vlogging , because in my opinion that is a great run and gun camera and does pretty good in low light.
I want the a7sii more because i already have the a6300 and it's pretty similar to a6500. Need the IBIS, sweet low light, good 1080p quality, also i have fullframe lenses sitting around, so A7sii it is. gotta save for years for that much money haha
Olá, muito bom o vídeo, trabalho com filmagem de eventos e tenho a 6500 e pretendo mudar para a 7sll muito em breve. Seu vídeo foi o que mais ajudou a essa escolha. Muito bom.
I'm trying to get the new update with screen shake i've already commented on your video and contacted you through your website so can you please help me
Hard to listen due to the nervous music playing WHILE you're talking. The info seemed good, but I had to stop watching and skip to the end for a conclusion. :(
I OWNED BOTH THE A6500 AND THE A7SII. THEY BOTH IDENTICAL SHOOTING AT NIGHT. SO I SOLD THE A7SII BECAUSE IT SUCKS FOCUSING ON THE SUBJECT AND DO NOT HAVE CONTINUOS FOCUS AND EYE FOCUS WHICH THE A6500 HAS.
Filmora Video Editor thanks for the videos. The Canon M3 and I plan on getting an M6. The flip up screen and the fact you can plug in an external mic 🎤 works perfect for me. The autofocus and no in body image stabilization is lacking in the M3 but I’ll still take it because of the flip up screen!
Smart MAN..one can pick up and original eos M on eBay for fitty bucks...has that good ole canon color , unlike this a7sii i got a love serious hate relation ship with because of the shitty sony cyan color, asinine menu system made by a crackhead and the awsome low light

Finally someone who answered my question! 6500 for photography that's what I needed to know! Thank you

They already have this feature. Put "Filmora shake effect" into youtube search and you'll find a few tutorials.
Thank you for this, really addressed all the questions I had
What a great video. This is the best comparison video on the two Sony cameras I have ever seen.
Great review but I can't afford either 😓😓😓😓
Yeah thanks God bless you and in India prices are a bit more.. Hope I get a chance to grab them in the near future... Hahahahaha..

Great video Matt, buy the way..what kind of film do they use?? :)
You missed the function of image stabilizer of both camera’s
great review
What camera is used to shoot this video?
Thanks for the great informations :)
Can you tell me how you deal with the slow AF of the A7sii?

Type in a6500 music videos lol those videos look of a higher quality than 10 bit gh5 music videos
Do you know if anyone from filmora is working on a all new transition pack
where is filmora 8.6 ?
It was helpful thank you. I want the a7sii but it’s just so damn expensive, plus another grand for Lens. Ugh. I don’t know if I should wait or just get the 6500
If you haven't bought one yet, the A7sii is at a lower price now of less than $1k. New. That's a tad less than a new a6500.

When is the countdown tutorial coming?
what about autofocus? its it the same on both? Or 6500 is faster?
a6500 has better AF
what about rolling shutter?
I just bought a Sony a6000 and am very disappointed with the bad stabilisation. Excellent and useful review BTW.
Do the a6000 even have IBS? :/
Nope! lol

Which should i get A6500 vs A7RIII (i do run and gun video mainly), i do own a A7s +28mm f2 sony lens
