9:30 the maelstrom colossus's also got trample as they are also golems which i think is a pretty cool synergy
It's really neat how Thoralf just casually saved Andrea from killing himself with a bad munitions target.
One of the absolute best videos Ive seen in a while. Thoralf and Mengu thats a great combo, some of my favourite players!

oh wow, great match! I never thought of the synergy between Maul Splicer and Maelstrom Colossus!
And that Fangreen Marauder just puts Affinity on check!
I have to admit, I did scream at Thoralf for not attacking and just passing, but that's because I never thought Affinity could just, draw itself out of their deck.
10:00 looks like they didn't think about that synergy either. The Maelstrom Colossus should have dealt trample damage there... sigh

You can tell they're both pros by the way they tap their cards on the table after drawing them, and the way they shuffle the cards in their hands the entire length of the video.

At @28:50, why did two of Thoralf's golems die? They all have first strike and are 3/3s, so would have applied 6 damage to the enforcer and angler before they had a chance to attack them back.
They have trample (from the Maul Splicer that created them), not first strike. The guys were talking about first strike as a joke, indeed specifically mentioning the card Blade Splicer, the white member of the Splicer cycle that makes a 3/3 golem and gives all golems first strike.

Not all storn cards are banned in Pauper! Weather The Storm is legal, and used in my favorite deck, Turbo Fog.

4:07 am I missing something? I feel like he underpaid 1 mana there. Crop-rotation is G and activation of map is (2). He has two lands, neither of which is a bounce land so how did he pay 3 mana?
Crop rotation puts a land on the battlefield. The second mana for the map is from that.
love to see the pauper, but if im not mistaken one of them was playing uncommons? are some legal?
Some cards get shifted from one rarity to another when printed in new sets. As long as something was once printed at common, it's pauper legal :)

The tokens don't go in the cemetery so they shouldn't trigger the marauders, don't they?
From the rules: "111.7 A token that’s in a zone other than the battlefield ceases to exist. This is a state-based action; see rule 704. (Note that if a token changes zones, applicable triggered abilities will trigger before the token ceases to exist.). " They go to the graveyard then as a state-based action they cease to exist, it does trigger the marauder.

I am so confused on how Thoralf got the mana in the 1st game to cast the Maelstorm Colossus so quickly
3 of the 4 lands he has are the tron land, they have an ability where if you control all three, power plant and mine tap for 2 and tower taps for 3 totalling 7 mana between them + 1 extra from his other land to get a turn 3 8 drop

10:00 Andrea takes 14 there and dies. Golems have trample which includes the Maelstrom colossi
If your creature dies in combat, the excess damage is still dealt to the defending player. However, if it is destroyed another way before it has dealt combat damage to the blocking creatures, no damage can be dealt at all.
@@kendrickvickers2610 702.19d: "If an attacking creature with trample or trample over planeswalkers is blocked, but there are no creatures blocking it when damage is assigned, its damage is assigned to the defending player and/or planeswalker as though all blocking creatures have been assigned lethal damage."
That said, the guys wound up playing this one correctly, because Andrea ended up shooting the Maul Splicer when he sacked his blocking Frogmite to the Makeshift Munitions (when the Maul Splicer died, all of Toffel's golems lost trample, including the Maelstrom Colossi). He only did that because of an overly helpful recommendation from Toffel, though, so it really sounds like it was a case of stumbling upon the correct answer by accident. :)
Why affinity lost in second game ? I didnt get
He had 2 cards left in the deck, which means 2 draw steps, the other guy had a repeatable effect that would've made all of his creatures do 0 damage for 2 turns and in magic when your library is empty and you go to draw a card you lose the game, so he just conceded because it was impossible to win.
