I'm waiting on delivery of my table and have been surfing around for tricks. The canvas thing is new to me - thanks. I've got some tips for you too. I've got cad/cam background just not fusion. If you're designing something with symmetry like the UA-cam button, just draw one side and mirror it to the other. Also, your construction line for spelling out UA-cam could have been an offset from the bottom of the button. Basically, just copy/mirror existing geometry when you can rather than redrawing the same things over and over.

I'm new to your channel. I just joined today. I'm looking for a large plasma table that cut out the thickest metal possible. Can you suggest what to buy? Thanks! Love your sense of humor!!
Thanks for the sub! Im not an expert by any means but i would check out Langmuirs XR tables. Its 4x8 and you can get the larger Hyperthem plasma cutter to cut heavier gauge steel.
I’ve made it to alcoholic welder UA-cam. Was just a matter of time, I suppose. The ASMR of you throating those Keystones is a nice touch. Who doesn’t love that stomach-churning sound blasting right into the AirPods?
I ordered it with the plasma cutter which is ok for light stuff. Also got it with the torch controller just because they recommended it. I would recommend getting the machine torch for it. I recently got one and i really like it. Hopefully that helps
Its a Baileigh sd-255 dual drum sander. I thought it would work a lot better than it does, but i still have to clean up the edges with the die grinder. So i rarely use it. Theres just no good way to clean up the dross and sharp edges efficiently.
Thats as thick as ive cut with it. I believe it cuts thicker steel. I have a cheap 30 gallon husky air compressor with an amazon air dryer. I ha be another video where i talk about all the equipment.
Thanks. Fun. Subscribed! I have the same table. Also bought two welding tables joined together. Langmuir rocks. I'm using the Harbor Freight Plasma I got on sale. Works great. Would you mind detailing the air drying system you set up? I need to add that to my set-up. Cheers.
Ill have to check that out. Ive just gotten used to making them from scratch. Ive noticed when i converted them in the past it creates a ton of fixed points on curved lines or circles. Where its not actually a curved line, its just a bunch of small straight lines.
How did you get your firecontrol to hook up to fusion because I can't find firecontrol in the library of the post. And when I look local it's not in there either so I can't save to use firecontrol
Its been a while since i did it. I know it is a little tricky. I remember moving the post process file into fusions somehow. I would recommend watching the tutorials on langmuirs sight. Thats how i got through it.
Hey question, I'm in the I.B.E.W. LU 728 Would make a sign for me and how much would it cost and what size would you make. Thank you Daren from south east Florida
I certainly can make one for you. They are 24” diameter. I sell them for $100 plus shipping. They are the old version of the bug with 15 bolts fyi. It filled the sign out better than the new version of 10 bolts. Shipping can be kind of pricey. Let me know what you want to do. Spicerdesignsllc@gmail.com
Not to sure on that. Ive hooked up water jets before at my day job as an electrician. It seems like there is a lot more moving parts with a water jet and im not sure if they cut as fast. But dont take my word for it. Sorry im not much help on that one.
I'm just now trying to learn more about cnc plasma tables but I used to run a large waterjet at my old job and they have a LOT of maintenance requirements and the invoices I seen were very expensive because most people don't realize that it isn't just water that's used but also a fine ground garnet with the high pressure water is what cuts the material..that garnet fills the tub up and must be removed and that's exspensive also ...I believe laser cutting is the best but very costly to get into and plasma seems to be the best way to get started for me atleast.... main point is waterjet cutting has alot of hidden costs associated with it
Waterjet will generally have cleaner cuts with smaller kerf (width of the cut) and almost zero draft (plasma will leave a slight angle from top of cut to bottom). Waterjet also introduces zero heat to the parts so warping and property changes like hardening or softening at the edge of the cut don't occur. But a waterjet machine takes up alot of space, is expensive to operate (as some have mentioned), and price wise start 15 to 20x more expensive than this little plasma table.
Water jet can cut through just about any material, greater thickness, and cuts cleaner. The water jet is much more expensive than the plasma table though so unless you need the extra performance, the plasma table is just fine.
Awesome videos thanks for the tips and tricks. I think you said 14g for the small signs. What are the typical gauges and types of steel you use for signs?
There is a torch hight controller that requires the z axis. It maintains the same cut gap if the steel is warped or starts to warp during the cut process.
When you say im going to export to post process , you open the window (g1-g2) , My question is how do i find my fire control machine. , how did you make it appear ?
Its a little tricky. Once you get it set up once you wont have to do it again. The steps are a little different between a mac and windows. I used the support tab on langmuirs website. They have a bunch of videos on how to set up the post process.
WARNING: Pronunciation Announcement. "Fill-It" is the typical pronunciation of the Fillet tool. I did learn something about plasma table cutting - nice stuff. Make more!
I could not tell, did you program any lead in, lead out in that file? I just got my Cut60DN today that I am going to put on my 30X30 Longmill CNC. Do you really need lead in?
Ya i have lead in. I think you def need it with a plasma machine. Otherwise youll see the initial pierce in the design. I usually do a .1 lead in minimum
Thanks. Hopefully it was helpful. Ill have some more videos like this coming up. I agree Budweiser is awful . But keystone is good stuff. Thanks for the comment!
Great vid I definitely got something from watching it! I do have a question or two..... First any regrets on the razorweld plasma aside from limiting to cutting thin stuff and if so what will you get to replace it someday? Secondly my biggest question!!!! That local 697 sign is very clean as in you have some thin areas that seemed to have cut very nice which brings me to the question are you using standard consumables and or what tip sizes are you using as this is new to me? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the comment. I don't have any regrets on the razor weld. It was plug and play for the table, and at the time I was starting out with a new machine I knew nothing about. I would definitely say its an entry level machine but that's what I wanted. Its definitely not the best plasma cutter but I've cut up to 3/16 with it no problem. Anything bigger than that im not really equip to handle. I guess it all depends on your intentions with the machine. I am running standard consumables. Ive cut some pretty thin sections in some designs and haven't had an issue. Hopefully that answered your questions. thanks
How wide were your bridges (I’ve always called them “tabs” for some reason)? How thin can you make those with that cutter? I’m used to designing signs for laser cutting, but the laser belongs to my day job. Thinking about getting something like this to keep from being a middle man.
I don't use Fusion 360, I use Autodesk Inventor for all my designs, I can export a dxf from a surface or flat patterns, will Fire Control on the Plasma accept .dxf and then I can program in the lead ins and lead outs from the plasma controller side of things?
@@adventurefilms no, the gcode needs to be created in the cad software. There may be another way that i dont know about. But Fire Control wont open a dxf.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC Interesting. I have been creating designs that require plate/sheet to be burned, plasma'd, laser cut, or water jetted, for 15 years, and the shops always ask me for a .dxf file, I'd be very surprised in the Langmuir software can't import a dxf file? We are looking at buying a table, but I don't want to have to switch my workflow from Inventor to F360 to do it :-(
@@SpicerDesignsLLC I just bought a 5x10 set up with tube cutter accessory. The employee I bought it to run it I no longer employ as of last week. So now I need to learn how to use it or hire someone who can.
@@klappy803 i havent. Its pretty minimal for the amount i use it. I usually do a couple cuts a week. So maybe 30 minutes of usage. Would be interesting to know for heavier use.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC It sure would. Every so often I kick around the idea of some light fabrication/creation. I would think that especially as a start up part time shop and in order to calculate profit per hour, that it would be crucial to know how much the electricity to run the machine for an hour would cost.
Its minimal. Just a 30 gallon single phase compressor, 240 volt single phase 30 amp feed for plasma cutter. similar to a welder. Not sure an exact price for electrical. I don't even notice it on the bill. Obviously depends on usage too. I have some other videos where I talk more about the requirements and specs. Hopefully that helps
what type of air dryer do you use for your cutter. also, did you have any issues with langmuir technical support after purchasing the table. i've heard that once you buy the machine, they're difficult to get ahold of for help and that the only help is from the forums. is that true?
I just have a cheap air dryer off amazon. The razorweld has one built in too. Sometimes the customer support refers you to the forum. Theyre ok but there is a lot of info in the forums and they respond quick.
@@jamesdufrene3572 its definitely an entry level machine in my opinion. Ive had issues with mine but in a way it forced me to learn everything about the machine. Now when i have a problem i know exactly what it is. Its been a good machine for me. It does everything i need and the price is right. Anything you get will have kinks. A lot of the guys that get these are beginners too. I was one of them. So a lot of the issues are likely operator error.
Last time i bought steel was 2 months ago. Was $115 for 16 gauge. I stocked up and got better pricing. I also get cut offs for scrap price right from the roll mill. Im sure it when up i was just trying to use easy even numbers for the video.

Hello New Subscriber, I have the Pro i make signs, monograms steel and aluminum fabrication parts for race cars and motorcycles machine runs almost everyday without any problems i use Fusion,Inkscape for design work and Sheetcam post process and Fusion post process.I find that F360 isn't text friendly but works ok but i just learned somethhing from your video is bridging the letters am I missing something is there a tool for that on F360.
Sounds like your running a nice shop and making some cool stuff. Im not an expert with CAD by any means. I just work with Fusion 360. I tried Inkscape to create vector files but I didn't like all the points it creates for curved lines. So I usually just trace everything from scratch with the CAD tools. As far as the bridges, there are no tools to make them that I know of. I add them all in manually. I use the text on path all the time though. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@@SpicerDesignsLLC How do you do them manually? I draw them manually in inkscape by using the rectangle tool make to the size I need then align it on the letter and then difference it out.But can't that to work in F360. Thanks
No where now. I stocked up the last order a couple months ago at about $115 a sheet. I do have a deal where I get cut off right from the roll mill for dirt cheap. I might adjust that thumbnail. just trying to use even numbers for the title.

Why is the Z-axis necessary? Wouldn't it be possible to manually set a specific distance? Is it required for the program?
There is a torch hight controller that requires the z axis. It maintains the same cut gap if the steel is warped or starts to warp during the cut process.
brought to you by keystone beer
I wish. Maybe one day
Question, where would you recommend I learn CAD?
I would recommend Lars Christensen youtube channel. Thats were i learned. He pretty good at explaining the steps.

Thanks for the reply. I went to the website and figured it out. You and the keystone girl are the best
Glad to hear you got it figured out. It can be a little tricky
Im IBEW L.U. 130. Nice video.
WARNING: Pronunciation Announcement.
"Fill-It" is the typical pronunciation of the Fillet tool.
I did learn something about plasma table cutting - nice stuff. Make more!
Ill get it right next time. Glad you enjoyed it
@@SpicerDesignsLLC Rock on!
Good detail step by step. that beer must be awful, kinda like Budweiser
Thanks. Hopefully it was helpful. Ill have some more videos like this coming up. I agree Budweiser is awful . But keystone is good stuff. Thanks for the comment!
I would love to know where you are getting that sheet plate 12 ga4x8 is running about $340 a sheet around Martinsburg wv
I just bought a 4x8x 14ga sheet of mild steel for $108. I know 12 ga is more. $340 seems high.
Everything around here is high it’s crazy 4x8x1/4” $667 last one o bought for a customer and he about flipped!! Keep the great videos coming
Hopefully that answered your questions. thanks
@@SpicerDesignsLLC yes thanks much!
Its way faster to find an svg file and convert that to a dxf and will bring in your drawing to make your tool path.
On but how did you do the bridges
I have a font video where i show how to make the bridges. Its a newer video on our page.
I like the IBEW sign. Can you make CWA Local 4217 ?
Im sure i could do it. If you want to email me the logo I can get you some pricing
You in Nashville now?
About an hour south of Bloomington. Pretty close to french lick. We go to dinner there quite a bit.
How wide were your bridges (I’ve always called them “tabs” for some reason)? How thin can you make those with that cutter? I’m used to designing signs for laser cutting, but the laser belongs to my day job. Thinking about getting something like this to keep from being a middle man.
laser machines are nice. I wish I had one. I wouldn't go anything less than an 1/8 wide on the bridges with the plasma machine.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC that's not bad. Thanks!
We are looking at buying a table, but I don't want to have to switch my workflow from Inventor to F360 to do it :-(
Awesome video! What are your opinions on the crossfire vs crossfire pro? You find the extra size of the table worth it?
I would definitely go with the pro. That extra space gives you way more options.
What size laptop are you using
I just use a macbook air for everything. Not sure what the memory is on it.
I hope this makes it so i can use my new machine
Whats that? Are you unable to use it?
@@SpicerDesignsLLC I just bought a 5x10 set up with tube cutter accessory. The employee I bought it to run it I no longer employ as of last week. So now I need to learn how to use it or hire someone who can.
@@RaceMentally i gotcha. Well i have a few videos that might help you out. They are somewhat specific to my machine. But good luck with everything.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC thanks I’m watching them. 🙏🏼
Excuse me if I missed it, but have you figured out what the input cost is to operate your table for an hour?
I have not. Are you talking overhead to run the machine ?
@@SpicerDesignsLLC Yes.
Garden markers $10 each or 3 for $45??? ill take 3 individual ones for $30 please. great video, some really helpful advice.
Your former electrician I have a welder that is 220 with a 110 cord on it what size wire can I use for it?
Did you see the welding outlet video i made? That video might answer your question. Its hard to say what size without any details of the welder.
Cool
What’s the electricity cost to operate?
@@SpicerDesignsLLC man, i want to take the plunge but after reading the forums and all of the problems people are having, I'm very hesitant.
Where are you buying a sheet of 16 gauge for $100 at the current price of steel in April 2022?
Last time i bought steel was 2 months ago. Was $115 for 16 gauge. I stocked up and got better pricing. I also get cut offs for scrap price right from the roll mill. Im sure it when up i was just trying to use easy even numbers for the video.
I’m building my self a plasma table, I have been trying to learn the CAD it Certainly is a challenge
I recommend Lars Christianson for sure. It gets easier and easier as you go. Im no expert but feel free to reach out if you have any questions. You can email me too if its easier for you.
Great video, very useful! Thank you!
just an fyi, pronunciation for an engineering style fillet = fil-it, not fil-eh.
does it support other software besides fire control? do you see any reason to use anything besides fire control ? Thanks Im new to CNC
I believe its only fire control. Its works well and dont see any reason to use anything else. I think the smaller machine uses different software.
16 dollars
$15
I'll take it but my bid is -$2 you gotta pay me
Hello New Subscriber,
I have the Pro i make signs, monograms steel and aluminum fabrication parts for race cars and motorcycles machine runs almost everyday without any problems i use Fusion,Inkscape for design work and Sheetcam post process and Fusion post process.I find that F360 isn't text friendly but works ok but i just learned somethhing from your video is bridging the letters am I missing something is there a tool for that on F360.
Thanks
@@deanpurks7474 I just use the line tool, then I use the trim tool to remove the lines I don't want.
Where do you Buy a Good Sheet of Metal For $100 Dollars
No where now. I stocked up the last order a couple months ago at about $115 a sheet. I do have a deal where I get cut off right from the roll mill for dirt cheap. I might adjust that thumbnail. just trying to use even numbers for the title.
Funny thing they don’t want to correlate with your UA-cam channel ! I asked if they’d distribute to Australia ! Their response was we are not at all interested in in that 🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Im now affiliated with them. That was when i had about 500 subs.
1 for ten dollars or 3 for 45$ do you get many takers for 3?
Yes
Do you sell the garden markers for $20? Otherwise 3 for $45 doesn't seem right.
3 for 45 is t right. I made a mistake. Its been addressed about 76 times in the comments. Should have been 3 for 20-25
I wish a 4x8 sheet of 14 gauge cost $100...twice that here. And that was a month ago...prices going up.
It was 115 last i bought steel. I might change that thumbnail cause it keeps rising.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC Well, I'm up in Alaska...so we get hosed on raw material prices
$141 here in Kansas 😂
