So just researched & found out that, when X-men rights were with Fox, MS Marvel was gonna start off as a mutant in the comics, but then FOX STUDIOS would also have the rights to live action Kamala Khan so they made her a part of Inhumans ! Same with Knull (Symbiot GOD).! MCU will have to make a deal with Sony in the future cause Knull has Venom & Spidey connections ! That’s why we didn’t see Knull reference in Thor Love & Thunder!!
Inhumans will be part of secret invasion series as shown in Secret Invasion comics !

Thank you Eric, for pouring scorn on the vacuous, asinine argument that is "wokeism", & all the deep-seated insecurities associated with it.😊 Imagine being privileged enough to say that Ms Marvel is pretty much the only superhero show that doesn't cater to you & your specific demographic.... To be in that racial/gender/cultural category where to be endlessly represented is so commonplace, that its regularity causes those very people to take it for granted; & in some cases to resent & whine about the efforts to redress the balance. Pure clownery!😉

I think it's already been mentioned, but when creating the character of Kamala Khan in the comics the creators originally wanted her to be a mutant. However, this was during the time when Fox owned the licensing but now that it's back at Marvel they made her a mutant as was originally envisioned. I welcome this! Can't wait to see what comes next!

I somehow think this is incorrect. Fox had movie and television rights to X-men characters. Not mutants. Certainly had nothing to do with the comics as Fox had no pull there at all, same goes for merchandising. Pretty sure Fox tried to sue Marvel once over the use of the word mutant in show title..."Mutant X". They settled, and didn't use the word to describe anything in the MCU going further which was honestly a preemptive fail safe against litigation. Still, nothing to do with the comics.

@@my5head dude.... if you actually question how things make sense in the MCU, then you'll have to question everything and that makes the classic MCU phase 3 movies an easy target. How the heck does the time travel in Endgame make sense anyway? Sloppy, convenient plot device. Once you watch Loki, that time travel falls apart. Coming back in time to previous point creates split timelines by its nature, and as we've seen in Loki, these are not closed loops in time. What happens in the past actually affects the future, so how the heck is Cap. back to the same timeline as an old man? That would imply a closed loop, which is not how time travel seems to work in the MCU. We are in the multiverse, which means everything is possible, including realities where Deadpool is a mutant and Ms marvel as well. I love mutants and the X-Men but I honestly don't care about these changes. Again, this is a multiverse, every single possibility actually exists. Because it's not like in comics it doesn't mean it's wrong.

Kamala getting her suit from her mother and getting her hero name from her father are two of the best scenes I've seen in the MCU. I mean there's other scenes from other projects that I've enjoyed but those two scenes between Kamala and her parents did something to me. Seems like in the post credit scene the bangle was sending out a signal like a beacon just like the ten rings in Shang-Chi. Maybe Carol Danvers was in space on a mission and she found the second bangle which resulted in them swapping places. Since they swapped places the bangles gotta be the Nega/Quantum-Bands....hopefully Kamala didn't teleport to a Kree-Skrull War or the Negative Zone! Bruno telling Kamala he found a MUTATION and the XMEN'97 theme playing gave me chills. But Kamala can still be Inhuman, Inhumans have mutations too. It was probably just teasing that mutants and the X-Men are coming soon. What would be funny af in THE MARVELS movie is if after Kamala and Carol switched places....they switched powers too! The bangles are definitely Kree technology.

The idea I took away was that Kamala inherited the Clandestine ability to use the noor, but that normally only works in the noor dimension. Her mutant power is being able to connect to the noor in our dimension as well, and her X-gene was dormant until the bangle activated it. Since aliens can have the X-gene too in the comics (Thanos is a mutant Eternal), maybe that's what the bangle is--some kind of Kree tech designed to activate the X-gene?
I think Kamran has the power through a slightly different way--his mom absorbed the portal and sent it to him, so now the portal is inside him, and he's using it to connect to the noor dimension and sort of pull noor energy out of there.

Small Theory: Since they explained earlier in the series that Kamala is able to access the Noor energy due to her mixed Clandestine and Human lineage, the bangle could be the catalyst that activated the mutant gene (calling it this for now as the X-gene is not yet name dropped on any MCU content), giving her the ability to mold and harness the Noor energy on Earth.
Now this doesn't fully explain Kamran's ability (which is messy in it of itself), but Najma could've been the catalyst, giving her limited Noor access to Kamran, together with his limited access could've opened the access a bit more to give him the ability to also mold Noor, but much more unstable.

The word catalyst there is definitely the key to me. There has to be something that triggers a big part of population starting to evolve. I’ve been thinking maybe it’s people who were snapped because they indirectly interacted with infinity stones. Maybe mutants start to pop up all across the galaxy or maybe there’s something in the human genome that is triggered by interacting with infinity stones - like what happens with the maximoffs and Carol.
Just like the transporter in Star Trek they referenced maybe the “copy” that comes back has slightly different genes.

This show was such a treat. I lost my mind when they played the X-MEN THEME when Bruno talked about Kamala possibly being a mutant!
My favorite scene was probably that final one with her dad when he called her “Ms. Marvel” because it felt so natural. The parts with the family is where I think this show really shined. The writing was phenomenal. Their focus on faith and family was so great! This show is so clever and refreshing!
A lot of people talk about how this phase has been aimless, like there doesn’t seem to be a waypoint for everything. I disagree. I saw an interview where somebody said all of this is just a reaction to what happened in Endgame. They basically have to reset everything so they could introduce new characters WHILE setting up the Multiverse and Mutants. I think they’ve done really well. I feel like Shan Chi, Eternals, and this show will somehow lead to an explanation of what is going on. I’m hoping that something is announced at Comic Con that basically makes us go “YUP, that’s it. That’s what we have been leading to.” Kevin Feige also said we would see the next big bad/overarching theme soon.
So we shall see! I’m really excited!

I just took her mutation as a key to the door. Her family is descended from the Noor, who have that power. Her mutation is a key that unlocked the door to those powers, that's all it is. The other 3 people in her family who are also directly descended from the same Noor don't have the mutation, so cant access that same power with the bangle.
From a writing perspective, the X-gene has always been a catch all, easy way to introduce a new character with powers without having to come up with lengthy/contrived reasons they have powers. Need a new hero? where'd their powers come from? x-gene bam. Doesnt matter what the gene does, it opens portals in cyclops eyes and allows jubilee to detonate matter on an atomic level, kamala's gene lets her tap into the noor.
they also said in episode 2 (i think) that the bangle just turned her powers on and the the light comes from inside her, not the bangle.

    • @umairbutt1355

I agree, but it is still a bit messy. So her x-gene is a door, the bangle is also sort of a door to the noor. So can she access the noor without the bangle (like Kamran can) or does she need the combo of bangle + x-gene.
I guess this just needs to be explained a bit more, which sucks because the series has now ended. They really needed one more episode. For example what they could have done is show her eventually using the noor without the bangle - the bangle just activated the x-gene.

Hopefully to clear up the mutant stuff for Eric: None of Kamala's lineage or her sibling has the ability to use Noor powers. Meaning her heritage has nothing to do with the power. When Kamala puts on the bangle we are told that it unlocks (activates her X-gene) her internal powers. We also never see the Clandestines use Noor powers so that ability is unique in Kamala being a mutant.
Kamran on the other hand is a little more confusing to me. More than likely he is also a mutant but I am unaware how his power was unlocked.

When his powers activate in the alley and he falls to his knees, you can hear the echo of her saying his name when she forced her powers on him. There seems to be a Noor ability activated close to death, Aisha bringing Kamala through time with a phrase and Kamran’s mother saying his name to send her power to him- but it might also convey their will as well. Aisha’s will to see her daughter saved brought Kamala to do it. If Kamrans mother willed for more than just to keep him safe, either for him to open the veil or get revenge or something, then maybe his powers activated because of that and not his genealogy. He had some Noor energy, probably half, and then got hers as well.

I usually agree with Eric but I look at the mutation thing much differently. Ever since Disney bought Fox we’ve been wondering how the x-men would be introduced into the MCU. The clean answer is through the multiverse. This reveal tells us something different is planned and there will be people with the mutant gene on earth 616.
Yes, it’s not as clean but do we really want them to take the easy way out? It’s their job to make it work and I’m intrigued to see them try to pull it off.
I don’t think this means that Kamala is a big part of the x-men one day. Bruno found out about her mutation by accident and her response indicates that she won’t be inclined to identify as a mutant just like she doesn’t identify as a clandestine. It may not factor too much into her powers for all we know, the important part of the reveal for me is that the gene exists on our world.

Seems like in the post credit scene Kamala's bangle was sending out a signal like a beacon like the ten rings in Shang-Chi. Maybe Carol Danvers was in space on a mission and found the second bangle which resulted in them swapping places. Since the there are two bangles they have to be the Nega-Bands/Quantum-Bands....hopefully Kamala didn't teleport to a Kree-Skrull War or the Negative Zone. The bangles are definitely Kree technology. What would be funny af in THE MARVELS movie that once Kamala and Carol switched places, they switched powers too! Normally mutation occurs during puberty, but it can also be jump-start through high levels of stress or other emotions, as well as through exposure to radiation. If the bangle works as a form of cosmic radiation, it could have kicked her mutant gene into high gear. This would mean that her family may or may not also possess the mutant gene, but they're all dormant, and possibly undetectable.

So in SHIELD, the terrigen mist was separate from the protective casing of the "stone". Touching the casing turned a normal human to stone but would spare someone with Inhuman genes. Contact with the mist was what triggered the metamorphosis, but it wasn't necessarily harmful to humans.
The Inhumans in Afterlife had to replicate the terrigen crystals but their version had impurities from the stone for *some reason* (they had to break it open or something, so the particles got mixed). So it was basically both things merged into one, and the crystal itself and its copies had particles of the stone and would both kill humans and metamorphose Inhumans.
Later when the crystals went into the ocean, seemingly the particles got separated from the terrigen, and the fishies ate it, then the fishies got turned into fish oil, and it was safe for humans but triggered the change in Inhumans.

ignoring the comics completely, I still don't think her power origin is too confusing.
    - Her great grandmother was clandestine and could use the bangle, but not to access the noor.
    - Her grandmother was born 1/2 human with no x-gene and could not use the bangle.
    - Her mother is even more human and also could not.
    - Kamala was born with the x-gene and equipping the bangle activated it (this was stated explicitly by Bruno in an earlier episode, but without yet knowing it was connected to a mutation).
    - Her mutation is allowing her to access the noor energy from outside their dimension, which clandestines normally cannot.
    Seems straightforward enough.

They may be altering what mutants are going forward. To distinguish the future of the MCU from the old xmen movie. It did feel out of left field but I have faith they will tie it together. Maybe I'm the mcu mutations have to be triggered. Like with Wade Wilson. That could open things up for Carol Danvers, quicksilver and scarlet witch all being mutants. That could be how they justify the fact that mutants aren't yet seen in the universe. I mean if kids like Scott summers were developing deadly powers at puberty you'd think iron man would have known about it. I'm closing the holes myself here but I'll wait to see before I judge. I enjoyed this show much more than I expected. Middle aged white dude stoked to see inclusive representation. She has a possibly Kree bangle that activated her powers.

From making kamala a mutant(which was actually the original intention) to Black Bolt’s death in Multiverse of madness I’m now convinced it’s all Kevin fegie’s giant middle finger to Ike Perlmutter and his Inhumans agenda. For those that don’t know when kamala was created she part of this larger push to make the Inhuamans “a thing” which also why they were pushed in AoS. Basically he turned them into Walmart X-men since they didn’t have the film rights and that went about as well as you expect(that inhumans show basically killed their reputation). Thankfully with the Disney-Fox merger the FF and X-men film rights are back with marvel. So technically… it’s all a course correction.
It’s also ironic that the one thing inhumans had over x-men was the game thrones interpersonal politics. Yet read any modern x-men comic(basically anything post House of X set in in this new Krakoa era right now) it has that in spades. Eric getting caught up on the mutation thing was absolutely hilarious to me, I definitely got caught up on it too when I watched and for him to want to talk about it more when the other 3 had moved on to other topics resonated with me so much and I was crying with laughter. I also had the same reaction about the Clandestines having no patience earlier in the series so I feel fulfilled that he brought those things up too.
Something I thought y'all would bring up that wasn't mentioned is how it was said previously there are 2 'bangles' and my current running theory is that the 2nd 'bangle' was composed of the Ten Rings from Shang-Chi, also the 'Noor' dimension could be part of the Multiverse and **puts on tin foil hat** maybe it's the same place that the Ta Lo village people came from because they could also seemingly wield magic that was enabled by the rings.
As much as Eric brought up points that I myself made while watching, I still feel my answer to the poll is more-so optimistic. I haven't personally seen the X-men movies particularly but ofcourse I know of some like Xavier, Wolverine etc. I agree with Aaron I want Marvel to somewhat create their own X-men lore movie/series and I don't think what we've seen here is enough to substantiate the origin of that, so I'm excited if that is what they could do.

    Two theories:
Not sure how the MCU will handle the different types of mutation. According to the FoxMCU, the X-gene is handed down from the Father. So if we follow that, she’s half Djinn on her Mother’s side and was given the X-gene from her Father’s side. The gene skipped her brother.
Second theory: Kamala was given an M-gene from her Father. The M-gene is activated by radioactivity. The bracelet was the catalyst. The light from the Noor could give off some type of CMBR. You could adapt this to Wanda, Carol and Monica. Wanda and Carol whose M-gene was activated from the infinity stones (gamma radiation) and Monica’s mutation was activated by the CMBR given off by the Hex.

Her mutant powers are likely Embiggen, notice that Kamran can't Embiggen and only use the Noor. Ms. Marvel is using the Noor on top of the Embiggen, which likely the bracelet/Noor is acting like the Terrigen Mists would have and unlocked her mutant gene. She has two different powers ultimately, Embiggen and Noor, which are separated powers.
Also you have to remember that Inhumans are Mutants too, their powers are just unlocked using Terrigen Mists/Kree. Mutants is just as Ms. Marvel puts it, "another label", they aren't overly special as mutants populate Marvel insanely high.
Also, Ms. Marvel isn't the first mutant, Spider-Man is, sure he wasn't born with the mutant gene, but he is still a mutated human and a mutant, and in reality you could probably argue that Scarlet Witch is the first mutant, because she gained her mutation/powers from the Reality Stone with Quicksilver getting them from the Scepter. All of these people likely just have a mutation gene that allows for these things to trigger compared to another person getting it done to them. For instance, what if Captain America got experimented on by the scepter? Would he get Quicksilver's speed? Or did Quicksilver only get it because he happened to have a mutated gene?
The MCU aren't the comics, you gotta separate them, there are already tons of differences already.

If they go with this it means they can have their cake and eat it too.
So they can have some mutants that have been around for a long time but maybe they are on the rarer side, then they can say mutants were discovered recently as more people's genes are being activated due to all odd energies happening on earth. People effected by Wanda like Pulsar, people effected by being snapped, people effected by celestial energy.

Really most Marvel characters are some type of mutant in reality.
It also helps that Ms. Marvel was originally intended to be a mutant anyway, but it was changed to her being an Inhuman. I mean hell Inhumans are just Kree Mutants, they do have a mutant gene after all, and X-Men are more Eternals/Natural Evolution mutant gene. At the end of the day, mutant is just a broad ass term in Marvel that it doesn't really matter how its used, X-Men or not.

I don't feel that Embiggen is a separate power. In the scene when she stands up after she "Embiggens," it looks to me like her actual limbs inside the Noor, exactly where they normally are, while the Noor creates the Embiggened shape (possibly based on what she imagines when she says the word, since I think as she gets a handle on the powers she can make them be exactly what she said in episode 2: "An idea come to life.")

@@dezzconnor8360 Which is fair, they may not even be separate powers, but even then, its pretty clear that she has a mutant gene that was activated by the bangle, but I think the idea is more that her and Kamran's powers are very different. You can argue that they just use them differently, but even then, her stretchy powers/ideas come to life is very unique to her in comparison to just straight 'hard light constructs', in reality she is a live action Armor/Hisako Ichiki with the ability to stretch her 'exoskeleton' than she is a Ms. Marvel. You could argue that her ability to envelop herself in the Noor and use it the way she does it the mutant gene affecting the Noor, ie: her mutant ability is literally to manipulate hard light into ideas, whereas Kamran can more just manipulate hard light as a by product, but can't form it into necessarily the ideas or exoskeleton than Ms. Marvel can, or maybe he can and he too has a mutant gene.
Either way, I think its pretty tame to call her mutant when she was originally meant to be one anyway and they're trying to separate her more from Mr. Fantastic after all. I doubt they'd have ever added Armor into the MCU, so its a neat idea to combine the two ideas in a lot of ways. Ms. Marvel was Mr. Fantastic combined with Ant Man originally anyway.

If they say mutation and play that theme, i dont see how thats confusing. There is litterally nothing else thst could mean. People are confusing themsrlves by not accepting what is being told.
