As the daughter of a Vietnam veteran this is about the most heartbreaking heavy metal song I've ever heard.. my old man came home in one piece but the PTSD was real.
Johnny is a soldier who was just blown up and injured in war. He is left to being concious and alive, yet unable to communicate with anybody. The doctors are expirementing on him, thus inflecting pain and suffering on him. He is literally inside a shell of himself. Unable to scream stop. Unable to communicate to them that he is in a state of torment. Alone and isolated within himself. He is in a state of hell, left to bear it all on his own.
This is taken from the film “Johnny Got His Gun” War has plunged Army soldier Joe Bonham (Timothy Bottoms) into an unending nightmare. Hit by an artillery shell in World War I, Joe has suffered injuries that have all but erased his humanity: he's lost his sight, speech, hearing and sense of smell. But he still has the ability to think and remember, which, in the end, may be more a curse than a blessing. Trapped in his body, Joe realizes there's only one way out of his misery: death. Can he get a sympathetic nurse to help him? Release date: August 4, 1971 (USA) Director: Dalton Trumbo Screenplay: Dalton Trumbo, Luis Buñuel Music by: Jerry Fielding Adapted from: Johnny Got His Gun Distributed by: Cinemation Industries
So I came to you to watch your Ren reaction… Subscribed.. Still here watching you two hours later 🤦♂️😂. Just love reactors who don’t just stick to one type of music. Your covering most things which is so refreshing. Cheers guys from the UK
The name of this song comes from a line in the book this song and the movie that is used in the video is based on. It says something about how a random guy in any town has a one in a million chance to win the lottery one day and have all their money problems solved. It would be like a dream come true. The same guy in the same town also has a one in a million chance of being sent off to a war where their whole life from that point on becomes a nightmare that you can't wake up from. Sure, that guy is only one in a million, and neither path may be the path that he finds himself down, but there is always going to be that ONE in a million that either gets the life of their dreams or the life of their nightmares.
That wasn't Catholic Vibes. They were singing for the troops they were saying "keep the home fire burning" (we're holding it down at home) "while our hearts our yearning " (we're sad that our loved ones are away fighting )
James (singer/rhythm guitar-writes most of the lyrics & music) and Kirk (lead guitar) were some of the heaviest & fastest thrashers in their day. James wrote the lyrics and music after watching the movies that are shown in this video. Instead of fight to get permission to show parts of the movie in they video, they just bought the rights to the movie. Talk about cutting through red tape! 😂 You want a great experience? Slap on some headphones, lay on your bed in the dark and listen to the albums Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice for All or The Black Album. You'll hear some of the deepest lyrics and hear the most amazing music. James can wring your heart out when it comes to putting humanity's feelings into song.
Reacting Live is actually better, coz they are known for Live performances. 1. For Whom the Bell Tolls live in seattle 89 2. Creeping Death Live in Moscow 3. Master of Puppets Live in Seattle 4. Fade to Blak live in Mosow
The reactor "Frostrazor" was spot on. This song flew way over your head, you had no idea what this was about. Stick to rap and hip-hop. It' simple enough for you to understand.
A few suggestions guys. Get some headphones. You'll hear it better and so will we. Don't blaze so much if you're serious about going somewhere with your channel. Weed causes short attention span issues. When listening to such a huge song, you need to pay attention. You can't do that if you're high.this is one of their biggest songs with lots of meaning and purpose. I usually love your reactions. Wasn't impressed with this one.

The young boy is the the man who got blown up by a landmine. No arms, face, or legs. I couldn't imagine living like that.
now imagine this happening to someone else who went to war so you don't have to.
@@Frostrazor when somebody threatens you, what do you do? Run?

I had 2 marine uncles that served in Vietnam, and a second time volunteered, I have seen the ptsd😢
"Help me Mother, I'm having a nightmare and I can't wake up." Gives me chills no matter how many times I hear it.

No arms, no legs, no speech, no hearing. He's trapped in himself. War is brutal
Good to see a couple of black stoners rocking out to Metallica. Very smart move to look out for very popular songs like this
Not really... dude in the green wasn't digging it. He said AC/DC is better 😂 11:55

DISPOSABLE HEROES
Sigh.
Metal does not mix well with short attention spans. That's why today's hip-hop is only 2-3 minute songs.
You are missing so much without headphones. Its a totally different experience
I agree. They need headphones! They'll hear it better and the audio on our end will be better too
