Carla Makes Falafel-Spiced Tomatoes & Chickpeas on Flatbread | From the Test Kitchen | Bon Appétit
honestly, I watch all of these for the personalities more than the food. love feeling like part of the test kitchen.
adolfo Desi - that’s a really good point!
adolfo Desi completely agree
We have the serious claire
Silly yet down to earth brad
The sassy camera man vinny
The sweet molly
The charming andy
And last but not least
The sincere and motherly carla.
Her face when she learned she could add more oil to the chickpeas. Delightful.
Also my powder/soda remembering trick; powder puffs, soda spreads.
2 years later and I just saw this trick, and it's AMAZING.
Erin Howett what oil trick? I watched the whole video and missed it?!
"Juicy mess! Eat this in your bathing suit!" She's so freakin' cute 🍅
Started with getting dress up in the intro, ended up in your bathing suit in the outro.
Love you Madelynn ❤
You know... Carla is what I imagine Louise Belcher would be like all grown up and a chef.
Carla teaching us tomato consent!
She's also saying how spreadable the garbanzos are though, so still heavily into objectification. I'm getting mixed messages.
Mix your messages thoroughly.
Ask and ye shall receive...sometimes.
"THREE tablespoons! I thought it was one!!"
ugh. I love you Carla
That intro made me want to cook this for a boyfriend I don't even have
i can fill your gap
more like hole
Damn. Was really hopeful that these comments wouldn't be creepy. Be better, guys.
I can be your bf and then I can awesomely eat the food Carla inspired you to make!
Jason Brown am i creepy? Just a ordinary guy that's single that likes cooking. I mean c'mon she really asked for the creepy comments. What mine isn't.
#1 lesson learned today: don't fat-shame your tomatoes.
Carla has this uniquely subtle cheery charisma that is just so charming, we love you!!!!
Always ask the tomato before you squeeze it
consent is important
Carla and Claire 2020
Everyone get's selfmade twinkys and burgers
Claire is gone.
2:54 Andy's face when sumac was as addressed 😂 Hes been a sumac snob forever
Carla is very eloquent, keep em coming Ba.
I wish a girl would talk to me the way Carla talks about tomatoes
Pete & Pete woah I just made the same comment about a boy. Let’s meet up and talk sexy tomatoes. Hit me up 🤙🏻
@squeaky_green on Instagram
Johanna Perez you got snap lol
It would be funny if you two fell in love and got married
Benedick's Cumberbitch and have little cherry tomatoes.....
Pete & Pete that reads creepier than it probably sounded in your head
She SOLD me with that opening description
Queen of comparing flatbread to prom
no thanks, and also tomatoes to porn.
I mean, if you've ever had fresh naan...Is she wrong? Lol.
So I started watching BA for Brad not gonna lie. But over the last few months I've grown to enjoy Claire, Carla, and Brad videos and I'm excited to watch new people. Just thought I'd say good job everyone.
I swear I fall more in love with Carla with every video I watch. She is the best!
I'm a simple person. I see Carla, I click.
Steven Steiner your profile pic said it all
That whole introduction tho
werd
I'm weak in the knees for Carla
Tony Kirumba same
“That last day of camp” lol😂 this is the content I come back for!
i love carla. this dish wouldn't be normally something i'd go after but she made it look super delicious and simple to make
Carla is adorable. i don't even cook but i watch because BA hosts have such warmth and are hilarious. Meanwhile learning to appreciate cooking.. Thanks Carla and all BA hosts.
Hi Carla! I grew up in Detroit eating what my mom would call, a" toasted tomato sandwich" and I still eat then now! thanks for the video and I must say you are my favorite BA chef!!
I realllllly appreciate this channel. Very entertaining and informative. Lobe the personalities of the cooks. Don’t change a thing.
2:53 feels like an important moment in the BATK Sumac Obsession Debate that runs through half of the Brad-Andy interactions
I was eating fast food while watching this. There were some parts where I zoned out because I've never heard some of these ingredients but I kept watching anyway because Carla somehow makes my crappy meal more delightful.
Her descriptions, analogies and metaphors are spot on. She needs to write food poetry 4reallllll
The tip on how to remember the difference btw baking powder and baking soda is a blessing. Lol
I love the presentation of this whole video with the beginning and the music and the way everything fit together and the way it looked...you inspire me to want to cook and create my own Falafel-Spiced Tomatoes & Chickpeas on Flatbread and cook so many of the other things you put on this channel! Thank you!
Those purple tomatoes are gorgeous (and delicious)! I grew them, or a similar variety (mine are called Cherokee Purple) and they are seriously some of the prettiest tomatoes, heck one of the prettiest foods, I've ever seen.
Talk to me about that knife! I have never seen somebody cut a tomato so smoothly.
Alisaishere you need a sharper knife. That's it! Promise.
I agree, tomatoes with salt and mayonnaise on bread (though untoasted and as a sandwich for me) is wonderfully delicious, and this recipe looks like an amazing upgrade. I can’t wait to try it.
When I was little and home sick from school I would spend all day watching Food Network. I’ve always loved food network and no one could convince me there was anything better. I have officially found something better than Food Network.
I love how poetic Carla is about food.
I could watch and listen to Carla cook all day long. She is quickly becoming my favorite chef on this channel.
Carla’s perfect way to have a tomato just gave me the most “Harriet the Spy” flashbacks. I love it.
I can’t wait to try this! I think Carla is hysterical. I always get excited when I see she’s cooking something!
I made this last night and it was fabulous.............so much so that I'm making them again tonight! Love the flatbread recipe.........love that i discovered this channel and the great Ba staff.
Every video I watch with Carla makes me feel like I’ve just gotten a warm hug.
Carla is everything. Tomatoes are everything.
I just need to send some love your way. I think all of you guys in the BA kitchen are amazing. Your personalities are infectious, your narration while cooking is engaging, and the guys behind the camera are wrapping all this up in a hilarious yet instructive unit. With all the fun that's being had, you guys still exude professionalism which holds all of this in place. You're not only inspiring people to cook and enjoy and love the process of it but you're also motivating us to be as warm and and as simply kind-hearted as you are. Thank you for making the world a better place on so many levels !!
I love Carla so much, her attitude is really inspiring to me because it makes cooking seem so much less intimidating and more fun
Carla, YOU have the power! More Carla, please.
Drop a slice of fresh mozzarella on top and send me one 😂
Feel like crumbled feta would work better
Try em both and led us know lol
yikesss
Midnight Cravings you can customize this however you want but I guess the yoghurt already provides enough dairy-flavour in this :)
....Or if you’re a dairyholic I’d add burrata
matty matheson has a gun to the cameraman's head, telling them to use cholula or else
Adam Karbowski 😂😂😂
Adam Karbowski 😂🤣😂
I love Carla! I love how she teaches me new tidbits along the way--I had no idea I shouldn't put tomatoes in the fridge! And she's got a great sense of humor!
I love all the ba chefs so much and they all have such different personalities and it really comes thru while explaining how they cook. Carla and Claire are definitely some of my fav to watch but everyone's equally amazing and I can binge these videos all day ❤️❤️
Carla is just the sweetest lady and could make the simplest recipe seem decadent. I love you gal keep that good content coming!!
This is so heavenly! Love tomatoes and bread..
I love how Carla's description of her perfect way to eat tomatoes is essentially the only food that Harriette wants to eat in Harriette the Spy and gets side eye from her Mom the whole movie.
why do i always come back here when im high jesus cuz im high again and im back here again MAYBE i should try this recipe HMHMHM
jela delapena literally me rn 😭
Sumac isn't traditional in falafel but I have seen it topped on hummus (sometimes) :)
"Just when you"re beginning to think pretty well of people, you run across someone who puts sugar on sliced tomatoes." - Will Cuppy Thank you Carla for a spiicy, savory way to enjoy the fruit of the gods.
Carla has become one of my absolute favorites. She's just the best. Great video!
Awkward prom pic with a plump tomato date-the pinnacle of adolescence, amazing
This is the perfect flatbread. Thanks for incorporating some meat free recipes!
That looks delicious! And Carla's little saying throughout were hysterical.. I especially like "I'm doing another one. Can't be stopped"
My heart soared when they mashed the chickpeas with a fork instead of the fancy tool that they almost definitely have in that kitchen.
I have to say how much I adore each of the BA hosts, and their indviduality. Love Carla and I enjoy her spots.
I always use dill as the only herb in tzatziki (or cacık if you’re turkish). I used to be a real snob and only use fresh dill, which by the way wilts really quickly, but found out that you can’t really taste a difference if it’s fresh or dried. So now I just buy dried dill by the bucket (like 1 liter, ca. a quart I think in American terms). What can I say I love middle eastern yoghurt sauce!
i love carla so much plsssss more recipies with carla
I really love that she pronounces herbs the way I do, I learned it by reading and always thought everyone pronounced it as her-b-z
Carla is simply the best!
Carla is the mom everybody wants
I want more Carla!!! I seriously love her so much she’s my fav
"not shilling, not sponsored" excellent side-eye at munchies cholulapalooza 10/10
Carla never fails to entertain while teaching. Thanks Carla!
That tomato spice blend dries down niecely and so I keep it on hand to a quick version of this. Just tomato on cream cheese, yoghurt, or hummus with the spice.
This looks so yummy here in the dead of winter with good tomatoes forever away...
i love carla's personality
This was really cool, thanks team! And the tomato 😍
Carla whispering to the tomato. This woman is the best.
Made this yesterday as part of July 4 feast, and it was AMAZING!
I hate tomatoes but Carla made this look so appetizing 😩😩
Take your tomatoes out to dinner! Love it. Thanks. Yummy!
Carla has definite fun mom or fun aunt energy
Baking soda will also leven but at a higher temperature. This is why it's great for putting out grease/oil.
Just in case you need even heat. 😉
I love everyone on this channel and they’re all so charismatic, but Carla is just so perfect! I think I like her more than Brad, and I really like Brad!!
Carla gives me life! I always enjoy her videos .
Carla sexualizing a tomato, my god.
best Carla opener yet
legion999 hot
She likes her tomatoes thicc.... Shes a chef of the people.
That purple tomato was thick as hell tho
I love Carla more and more with every video. Don't @ me.
I can't remember the last time I ate any kind of tomato that had any real flavor to it, even the farmer's market ones where I live, never mind store bought.
I love Carla LOL! "Eat this in your bathing suit" LOL!
I love watching Carla cook - it's so relaxing!
This speaks to me in so many ways.
I really really enjoy these BA videos. Thanks very much, please don't stop.
Hi! Claire in the background.
also Andy's butt
team Claire
I made this tonight -- SO GOOD. I absolutely loved it.
I did make a kinda... crucial mistake. I bought Vanilla flavored yogurt instead of plain... oops. The flatbread was still great -- the yogurt mixture was so-so from it. Still a killer dish. Gonna make it again! :D
I love this chef! She's so funny and has so much personality I love her!
I love Carla. Brad used to be my favourite, but now Carla is.
Sumac grows wild here in the US. I know it grows around me in CT, so it doesn't have to be solely a Middle Eastern spice as I am sure the Native Americans used it in different ways. It is also good in teas and home made energy drinks.
During the summer, everyday after camp I would come home and eat the tomatoes on toast with mayo and salt, so delicious
I made this for brunch last weekend. It came out great. Super delicious with end of season juicy tomatoes. Thanks for another great video Carla. I can't believe how good this flatbread was. :)
Watching all those American cooks with their beautiful tomatoes while living in an northern European area is basically self-torture
i cant believe i initially started watching this channel for brad, but stayed for carla
Just did the tomatoes + seasoning and it was amazing. Next time I'll do the whole thing when I get the ingredients
BA killing it with the amazing test kitchen staff. Love every one of em!
Nice recipe.
we stan a tomato-loving queen !!!
