Why is everyone so obsessed with a man cooking lunch for his wife? He's a cook, so he cooks. It's nothing personal, but he's probably better at it than her and people like Chris can be a pain to cook for when you don't meet their standards. I guess they arranged their cooking-terms to everone's best liking. My father cooked for my mom and me too, though not daily. Cooking and eating together just got a bit lost in today's family life, perhaps.

"In the afternoon light of a Sunday night when you're feeling Optimistic and positive about the world" ... we have totally opposite sundays, my friend.
That looked legit. Looks just like you said, a really good base that you can take wherever you like depending on what your taste is. I've been getting more into eating chickpeas a lot lately. They're super versatile. For dinner I've been smashing them into a paste and then mixing in black beans, onion, and diced carrot --> then make patties out of it to fry up and but on a bed of mixed greens. It's definitely really convenient to prep a pot of chickpeas to quickly make a lunch from for the whole week.

Chris, good inspiration! When I soak my chickpeas overnight, with a pinch of baking soda and a tablespoon of salt, they always cook in about 20 minutes--NOT 1 hour or more. For eggs, I steam mine for 8.5 minutes for a runny yolk and 9 minutes for a jammy yolk. A 10 minute boil/simmer gives me hard yolks with a grey ring (I get my eggs same day as laid from a neighbor). We live at 800 ft elevation, so at sea level, your times should be less, but in Denver, the time is more. Thanks for the vid!
I love how Chris' passion for food just shines through here. You can really see that he spends a lot of time thinking about food and creating things that are not only tasty but also healthy and satisfying :-)
Try rehydrating the powders before adding them to your recipes, it helps the flavor bloom. It won't be as good as fresh, but you don't need to throw out your spices.
Does the store have the queezy bottles of garlic where you live? that stuff might have a bit of preservatives or whatever in it but it is so much easier than dealing with whole cloves.

IKR! and that intro for Clair's cookie ice cream ep. made my gaydar go crazy
And 2 kids! 🤔 I found his instagram. Lol
HEY NOW! It's 2019... His wife could be currently known as Carol, but at one time was known as Darrell. My point is... you never know, lol. Also, you and Chris' wife just have something in common now! Don't lose hope just yet, adjacentbrown12.
I’m so happy Chris is feeling optimistic and positive about the world on a Sunday night. As for me- I’ll be in my bed crying about waking up tomorrow morning to go into work 😭😂😂
Chris is innovative and patient enough to carry his own show. I'd watch it. His palate is legendary, his explanations of food texture + combos unequalled.
Weirdly, this is quite a good start for the year -even with a recipe so horrible has radiccios (honestly, who likes those)-

A mention to The Great British Bakeoff: YAAAAAAS!
"Um, actually.." he repeated the heretical name 'British Baking Show' rather than the one, true Great British Bake Off but he got close enough.
"Is it vegan? Boom! It's vegan!" *Has eggs on it, thus not vegan* hahah. Great episode just a funny part :)
I think he meant the dressing, not the salad.
The comment I was looking for
yeah he definitely meant the dressing. but take off the eggs.. BOOM vegan salad
Bemusing buttermilk or sour cream for the dressing makes it not vegan as well- both are derived from milk products
they're vegan eggs.
I love chickpeas so I'm genuinely so grateful for this episode! (also really appreciate the gbbo references)
More Chris, this gon be gud.
Please feature Amiel more too!
Yes pleasee
I feel like everybody overlooks Amiel and it makes me sad..
I still cook with onion and garlic powder 😔
Same. Even if I put a bunch of fresh onion and garlic in something, sometimes it feels like it needs more.
Try rehydrating the powders before adding them to your recipes, it helps the flavor bloom. It won't be as good as fresh, but you don't need to throw out your spices.
Garlic powder is legit! Rehydrate it and let the ALLICIN flow. It's a different flavor from regular garlic but it's so good.
meeeee toooo; when needed.
Does the store have the queezy bottles of garlic where you live? that stuff might have a bit of preservatives or whatever in it but it is so much easier than dealing with whole cloves.
How adorable is Chris's laugh? 🥺 I think I just fell in love with him 🙈❤️
This is like those master classes...thank you so much! One suggestion...if you could leave the little caption pop-ups up just a couple seconds longer, that would be appreciated.
Ok, the lemon peel idea is GENIUS!!! I make hummus all the time and I never thought of adding lemon or onions to when boiling the chickpeas. Just tried it and it's AMAZING. Thanks BA!, Chris, you're wonderful!
Please, please, please make this a series!!!! We need this kind of weekly meal prep in our lives! 😍
