You know the 1.9 combat update is justify due to the AXE damage is buff so if they "added the gamerule" the "axe" will be the most op weapon on the game even enchanting it with sharpness 5 it can damage to 17-18.5 damage with sharpness 5 on axe with out enchantment total damage is 9-10.5 damage so is justify to "not added the gamerule" but am not a fan nor a hater am just an average player who play minecraft for fan and etc
except for community servers, which to this day, is still seperated between servers that are stuck at 1.8 and servers that has updated to 1.9 or later.
yes, for me, the combat isn't that important. but i know that it's for others. But i think that we can all agree that newer version are great because there are more features. So, nearly everybody would be happy with that game rule
No it doesn't... You can't even find wood to build a boat, not to mention the only loot Pirate Steve can find is stone, and he can't mine it because he had no wood/pickaxe...
It pissed off pretty much everyone at the time, adding an end goal to an endless sandbox game was a retarded idea and they didn't even implement it well
Well to be fair... what kind of a fricking rose was that? Do you see solitary roses growing on the ground? No? It's because they don't freaking exist! I still think they should've kept the texture though.
I agree/disagree with you on the beta 1.8 update. It makes sense that when you run, you lose hunger instead of when you take damage, you lose hunger. But I do agree with you on the terrain generation. The update took away the unique terrain generation
@@-TheUnkownUser The magic can't come back, the enormous damage beta 1.8 did still lasts. The many 'small' changes that also came with beta 1.8 (new lightning system, sounds, hunger, ui, new textures etc) is what made the update so bad. Everything that made Minecraft, Minecraft was simply changed or removed. It was like a bad reforged game of Minecraft.
@@DJ_Lode I've been playing since 1.6, so I have played with the OG pvp system. However, both the original, and the 1.9 combat systems needed improvement. I believe that the "1.15" combat system could fix many issues that both 1.9 and Original combat systems had.
As someone that plays single player alot, i think the 1.9 update was fine, makes me feel like im actually fighting and not just spamming a button. Its most likely a problem for people for PVP servers
PVP guys usually stay on 1.8.9 servers. but its a shame they need to use a 4 year old version of the game to play how they like it. a simple gamerule would we welcome. as for me i enjoy the 1.9 system and id hate to see it go
+David I thats because its already hard to play PE, and PvP? thats already hard enough for all of us, its only the clickspam easy to gain skill thing that needed to be removed, and PE's public servers are not like Hypixel, Mineplex and shotbow, also in PE i found out when the host of the server logs out, everyone else dies, it sucks enough i dont play it anymore, and the app is no longer available to those who got it before the bedrock PE came out, PE is full of complaints for most, its the worst, PE was still in alpha long after release 1.0 in the computer version, its hard for the developers to manage, and its worse
the oof sound sounded too similar to the roblox oof sound, so minecraft changed it, proving the 2 games are buddies :D ok more proof, theres a splash screen in minecraft saying "Roblox is kinda fun!" proving once again roblox and minecraft are buddies, the 2 games started small but grew big, like most games out there :D
Spencer Huyck They did the same thing on the title screen with Terreria and a few other games. I think someone just liked those games or they said that because they are slightly similar to Minecraft since they are sandbox games.
I'm kinda confused why people hate the new combat mechanics. I mean, yeah, it is certainly worse for pvp, but i honestly think that it makes pve more interesting, because you can't just spam the button, but you actually need to focus.
The problem is the combat doesn't really reward you in any significant way for being patient, it just kind of makes it harder. If they could fix that someway, the combat system would be god-tier.
My favorite updates: 10. 1.5 Redstone update 9. 1.6 Horse update 8. 1.10 Frostburn Update 7. 1.11 Exploration Update 6. 1.12 World of color update 5. 1.8 Bountiful update 4. 1.4.2 Update *3. 1.9 **-Combat-** update ( anything but the new cooldown, and i love the new boss fight )* *_2 & 1 spot: Tie between 1.14 Village and Pillage and 1.13 Update Aquatic ( Builder haven :D )_*
it ruined the game for the OG players, spamming left click over and over again is more fun that waiting 10 seconds to hit again, seriously Steve is 2m tall so I'd expect him to swing a sword like a gladiator! When did you start playing minecraft
@@chronicsnail6675 it takes a little over half a second to swing again moron, not 10 seconds, also it balances strength potion effect to not virtually instantly kill people by how fast you can swing, there is skill involved now
@I'm Self Aware that's your vision of minecraft, mine is that is à sandbox where everyone have his own experience and vision of the game, differents gameplays ect
I actually like the 1.9 combat system in single-player. However, I always have preferred the old way for multiplayer and servers. I guess a gamerule would be really nice.
I'm actually in the middle between; '1.9 sucks!' and '1.9 is more realistic' 1.9 makes for a better survival mode, and 1.7/8 are better for online pvp.
I really like the shields and tipped arrows and the elytra but like really? Cooldowns are annoying 90% of the time. Remember when you could just run at a creeper with an iron sword and kill it in three quick slashes? That's gone now. Now 'cuz of cooldowns combat is really slow and boring, before it was fastpaced and you had to ready all you reflexes, now you just walk around until your weapon charges and miss, cuz' the other person is also walking around trying to dodge your attacks. Like you can say it's more realistic but for me, it's okay for survival but terrible for hardcore and pvp. And now..... CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT HOW A WOODEN AXE DEALS THE SAME DAMAGE AS A DIAMOND SWORD?! Seriously, a stone axe deals two more damage than a diamond sword!? You can say 'But the recharge time is slower and it can hit only a single entity instead of multiple' but that doesn't change much in 1v1 and if you are fighting multiple players then you almost never hit more than one at a time. In summary: Mojang add a gamerule that removes the cooldowns and puts the damage of axes back to normal.
@@studiodogy1452 Yes, the axes are certainly in requirement of a nerf, and the cooldowns are irritating and should have an option to be disabled, but other than that, I rather like it.
@@oritimesthree Yeah, 100% mojang has to nerf the axes and could possibly add the cooldown gamerule, but this HUGE combat update aside i actualy liked 1.9. The end, shulkers and everything else was great.... exept the combat.
To be honest Notch ruined the game before he stopped working on it, he clearly wanted to stop working on it but he needed it to be “finished” before then. Minecraft’s direction has been really bad until super recently though as well, 1.13 is probably the best update we’ve seen since Beta 1.7/1.8
Um, there's a vast difference between complaining about changes to a game and criticising parts of a game that are broken or legitimately unfun. Constructive criticism is an important part of helping a game improve and be as enjoyable as possible.
+Envious .Lk im about 400% sure I said in the video that I'm a little unbiased on this one. I'm only really mad that there's no gamerule for it, considering there is for SOOOOOO many things. I literally said that in the video.
+NIGHTMARE_ERR 623 - in my opinion, 1.10 was rushed out to quickly, and doesnt have anywhere near asmuch features /dev time as 1.6-1.9... and thats its main problem.
reason why 1.10 was so short is because they don't want to keep anyone waiting because 1.9 took like a year or two to come out so they want to munch a different small updates to just form into massave update the even said if you don't like the small updates then just wait till 1.14 or 15 comes out and stick with 1.9 for now
If this video were made more recently, I would’ve liked to see 1.13, since it completely ruined the entire command format. Seriously it wasn’t that hard to understand some of the commands before and they tried to make it “better”, but they made it harder for everyone who already knew commands, as well as really simple commands, like making /gamemode c now /gamemode creative. Seriously the worst decision I’ve ever seen in the game, because not only is it annoying, but they also ruined pretty much every single minecraft map ever created, since all good maps use lots of commands, and none of the commands work anymore. Even some of the mini games on realms don’t work anymore, because not all of them have been updated to 1.13. There wasn’t a point to changing the command format at ALL, and if they wanted to, they could have at least made the old format still work so you could either do the new format OR the old format. They were already changing it, so it wouldn’t have been that hard to keep the old format, as well. As someone who uses commands all the time and makes maps, this really annoyed me when they released the update. I just want my commands back.
Thank you! I seriously don't get why we can't have the shortened commands still work. The new system is fine for people who are still learning, but there's literally no reason to remove the old format too, like, what the heck. R.I.P adventure maps, minigames, boss spawners...
Edgemando Alternatives to commands? Not really. If you’re on a server, then you can have external coding or plugins, but on something like an adventure map, it’s usually better to stick with vanilla. Also, I know it was an ocean update, but the commands were an even bigger change in my opinion than the oceans, since they basically ruined ALL adventure maps ever created. I’m getting used to the new system, but it’s still kinda annoying. I think it’s kind of cool that they added life to the barren oceans, but I still feel a little annoyed. Maybe once all the bugs are sorted out it will be better
Never mind that phantoms actually became super annoying for vanilla servers... Imo phantoms ended up being a failure but can't really blame mojang for that as much as the community for not thinking about it at all, sure, it's mechanics are different, but not in a good way.

"spam clicking" trust me, 1.8 pvp is more advanced than 1.9+... also, it's a block game and not many people quit until now, me and 40k+ players still play on 1.8/1.7, people who quit just got bored of playing the same version for years without mojang listening to us, the players. 1.9 just takes ages, is very boring and I did try it a few times with friends, but I never liked it and I never will.
@@wyattevans1536 bedrock edition doesn't have half the things from java. No hypixel, no sword blocking, no plugins and much more. I've played it a few times, only good thing abt it is cross compatibility.
Deprescion 1. We don’t need sword blocking shields are way better. 2. You don’t need that stuff to play minecraft. And 3. Both versions have pros and cons
It's pretty easy to disable the item delay, even if it's not a gamerule. I threw together a quick and dirty (and I do mean quick and dirty) fix that removes it, just to prove a point. This post will get flagged as spam if I post a link, so I'll just say it's pastebin code "mPBdYgeG". Drop any tool or weapon for it to be given 1.8-style attack speed, and some lore saying it's been fixed.
I like the combat update, you need timing your attacks instead of just mashing, this gives you the need for thinking good your next attack which can cost you a death, but if you do well for me is more satisfactory and rewarding than again, just mash the click
no. Sure, you gotta smash the mouse button, but its not as simple as that. Some people practiced on smashing the mouse button quicker and it was way funner. Just think about it in skywars, someone jumps on you, and you guys both hit each other waiting for the cooldown and strike again until someone dies. If it was default added on to all servers, I might as well punched people off the map because I couldn’t get it done with the sword. I do agree on it is way funner in survival mode but it has changed multiplayer and the pvp community. If you dont PVP, you wouldn’t understand.
@no. Idiot.. Strafing w tapping combos rodding block clutches ender pearl clutches you clearly do pvp once a year you know NOTHING LMAO just stfu and play on your garbage update you suck at pvp and you will never get good if you "move your mouse and smash it" you are pathetic Nerd.. Smh
Point 4 is basically just "combat update bad because I don't like it". The combat update was brilliant, the weapon cool down actually bought skill to minecrafts pvp and pve
Draken Garfinkel I posted once on the Minecraft Forums suggesting to remove the stone ore and listed reasons similar to you: They cover up other ores and blocks, they are redundant because of the original stone block, they clutter the inventory when strip-mining, and they also don't look good against normal stone (Andesite looks too similar, granite doesn't look good next to the gray stone, and diorite's role is being used by Nether Quartz). However, everyone hated the idea and responded with the typical responses such as "Just get a mod and remove them" or "Ignore them" or "You're wrong they look fine."
This command brings back old combat "spaming" mechanics. /replaceitem entity @p slot.armor.head minecraft:shield 1 0 {AttributeModifiers:[{AttributeName:"generic.attackSpeed",Name:generic.attackSpeed,Amount:99999999,Operation:0,UUIDMost:90498,UUIDLeast:161150}]} Use in command block You will get a shield (on your head :) ) that simply make your attack speed super high (nearly instant). IMPORTANT: USE IN 1.11 OR HIGHER
IMO weapon cooldown is great bc it makes combat more realistic. in real life, you can't just attack something twice in a millisecond with the same strength. although the times are a bit longer than I wanted, I had always had a problem with the spamming attacks.
Yeah, same. And also because Minecraft's netcode is far from perfect, the click-spamming system created some really frustrating situations where the enemy could hit you but not vice-versa. And while that's still the case, you can't get locked at a disadvantageous range anymore.
Thesk8guy Yeahhhh... A sand box about a semi-realistic world where you explore realistic caves and landscape... definitely not realistic at all... Also, It's my opinion. As in, OPINION. *OPINION*. Get it? The way someone feels? You can disagree without cursing at me in a derogatory implying tone.
Personally, i prefer the new combat. The old one required good fps, a good mouse, and having to injure your fingers. The new one is a lot more chill and doesn't require amazing equipment.
Well, the veterans and smart people of Minecraft are too pro and the idea of cooldown for them is like moving super slow. I understand them even if I'm bad at pvp. Hi from Lockedchestia!
More like more fucking annoying. I'm fine with upping the difficulty, but it should be optional. If I don't want to have weapon cool down then I should have the option to disable it.
The combat update might have been ok for survival gameplay but for competitive pvp it just doesn't work. It made pvp way too slow and, contrary to popular opinion, less skilled. For people who says that 1.9 pvp requires more skills than 1.7, w tapping combined with block hitting is way harder to time correctly than the weapon cool down and shield. Not to mention 1.9 made the fishing rod (very difficult to master) completely useless in pvp (except when running away). It is also harder to aim in 1.7 because there are more hits being done in the same amount of time so you have to target the opponent more consistently while getting knocked around. Also for people who says 1.7 pvp is just about who can click faster, clicking fast only give you a slight advantage of taking less knockback since the game decelerates you whenever your hitting something and because you can register your hits little bit faster after the hit cooldown (minor but still existed before 1.9) gets reset. A player like Meezoid who normal click is still better than most jitter clicking players. This proves than better aim and w tapping timing is more important than click speed.
4:35 ant venom: “1.0 Minecraft release in 2011 had a bad enderdragon fight and it took until 1.9 to get fixed, TWO years later” me: counting my fingers “ uh 1.9 didn’t come out in 2013 it came out in 2016 it came out five years later not two”
With 1.9, I think Mojang realized that the original combat system was to easy, in that, any fight came down to "how fast can you spam the mouse?" Too many of us got comfy with the old system and expected it to stay. I was originally upset, but then saw that it forced me to actually be tactical, and less reckless in my fighting style, and to use critical and sprint hits. However, having a gamerule to turn on/off weapon cool-down timers is a good idea. It's probably hard, as a game developer, when you see a change that needs to be made, and then receive nothing but complaints about it. I think we all need to do less complaining about a game, that doesn't belong to us, and simply enjoy it for what it is. Sure, we should give feedback to the creators, but whining about it continually is just wrong.
"False. You needed to use techniques that were only learned through skill, e.g rodding, bridging, and FnS." Which is basically just mindless fast finger transisition. "PvP was based off of keystrokes and speed, not fucking using your big ass shield making what should be a 5 minute fight an hour long." Lol, 1 hour long? seriously? When i pvp with my friend using OP armor it only takes about 7 minutes or so. Making the fight more meaningful instead of grindy. the only thing you have to know is when to block and when to hit." Which is also the old combat flaw.
The old pvp wasn't only spam clicking, you had to aim, strafe, wtap, blockhit and use a bunch more strategies. You're saying that as if it was that easy to spam click. 1.9 pvp is easy for everyone and I don't understand why people think it takes skill when you just click, block, wait, click, block, wait. 7 minutes for a fight is too long.
I agree that the Auto jump is an useless addition for older gamers that are used to playing computer games. But, this is a great addition to smaller kids that aren't used to pressing many buttons at once, or have too small hands to reach all the buttons. It makes sense that it's on by default because smaller kids may not understand how to configure the settings.
Err... I kind of view having auto-jump on by default as the same folly as Zelda: Ocarina of Time's having Z targeting 'toggle' by default. The "correct" setting is 'hold'. The "correct" setting is 'autojump off'. By having it set to the incorrect setting, you're doing more harm than good, as new players will play the game for quite some time thinking "I guess this is just how it is in this game", then once they find out how to switch it to the correct setting, they have to unlearn a fuckton of absolutely horrible habits, burned into their muscle memory. I love that it's an option. But having it "on" by default is not harmless. Come to think of it... If a kid can't handle something as complex as "spacebar jumps", how are they gonna manage an inventory? How are they gonna get stuff on their hotbar? How are they even going to switch items to items on their hotbar? How are they gonna craft a pickaxe? How are they going to survive a night? How are they even going to visualize "WASD" as sort of "arrow keys" for the purposes of walking around? If they can't handle this simple task, then them successfully playing the game could only possibly be coming from the direct supervision of a parent or older sibling or something. At which point? THEY can turn it on for the child themselves.
@chromaberry Err... Look, chromaberry, believe me when I say that I sincerely don't want to disparage non-gamers from the gaming community (good on you for introducing people to gaming, btw, especially via a game like Minecraft), but if your father is truly incapable of learning to grasp the concept of jumping and how it's used within a few minutes of explanation and repetition, then he really doesn't have any business playing Minecraft, and I'm not saying it like, "Oh man! What an idiot! He doesn't deserve to play Minecraft", rather what I mean is... like... how, literally, is he gonna cut down a tree? How is he gonna craft a pickaxe? How's he gonna search for coal? Place torches? Survive a night? Build/dig out a long-term shelter? If you can't do these things, you can't play Minecraft. How's he gonna... Do any of the stuff that someone has to be doing to technically even be considered to be going through the act of "playing Minecraft".
yeah yeah pre 1.9 combat mechanics with shields totally a great idea definitely not overpowered man I think you PVP shits don't need to play this game before actually thinking
Everyone was super mad about the new combat mechanics *YEAH BECAUSE I PLAY MINECRAFT FOR ITS AWARD WINNING RPG COMBAT SYSTEM* This isn't Dark Souls. Quit complaining.
Yup hah, is called Mine Craft, you Mine and Craft, not do PVP Online with others, you can but it's still a creativity based game. Be like saying GTA V doesn't allow you to build your own house in Online hah, so it's automatically sh*t...
@@HiMrBob It takes less than 5 seconds to 'master' that 'always fun' combat system you speak so highly of because it's literally just spam-clicking the mouse. Any idiot can do that. I don't see how you could possibly miss the Carpal-tunnel-simulator that is old Minecraft combat unless you are a massive hipster that likes inferior things out of principle.
I can't say it enough, how much I LOVE the 1.9 combat update. Seriously. Before it, combat involved an extremely minimal amount of strategy. Whoever clicked the fastest, would essentially win. With the miniscule hit cooldown, this means people who just spam their left click won't be the better fighters, it will be those who use that small time to jump, get some crits in, and reposition their mouse.
I think that it was better with more biomes because it is way more adventurous as very many different resources, mobs and loot. I think it's more realistic and sensible that you cna die of hunger and it Heals you because in real life tioi dont heal because euou eat, ut take smore time and that is represented at the hunger bar. It also makes killing pigs and cows worth it and more meaningful and useful in some way. The ender fight: it is not pathetic really, is it, because coding is very, very complicated and even if an entire comanny owkedd on it it cna take a very long time.
***** Yeah, that was a bit of a problem. I think if we just had some bigger islands, like a couple kilos wide at least, then it would have been a bit better. Islands and other world features in general I feel needed to be bigger, like rivers and lakes, rather than a massive world change (which I still enjoy, but in an actually fun to play in sort of way)
Or have have some type of "Large Ocean" biome or replace regular sized oceans with "Sea" and then name big oceans "Ocean". that way you would know if it was big or not. and obviously, i would have "Large Ocean" Or the new "Ocean" be pretty rare, that way you don't hit them very often.
A buddy had a server for Roleplay, and the world spawn was on a small island, I had to travel around 15k blocks to find a suitable location to replace the world spawn to. Don't get me wrong, I do like the Giant Oceans, but the world spawn formula could detect a better place to spawn you in at; rather why is it not an option. Additionally, there are some worlds where I spawned 30 blocks underwater, drowning before reaching the top when creating the world, great programming there mojang.
that's actually a very interesting point ant-i personally love the new combat system for the reason that Bunnyboy Carrot said, but i do think that what you said ant is a very valid argument.
Agreed, it was so simple, HOW DO YOU CHANGE SOMETHING THATS SO SIMPLE GOD DAMMIT NOW IM STUCK IN 1.7.10 (i dont mind that actually I love that version to death.)
+The Real Deal Right, everything needs to be simple!!! God forbid you make it something a three year old can't understand and that actually requires skill.
1.9+ had some great features, and I would love to be able to use them, but I refuse to downgrade to the version that adds cooldowns. At the very least there should be an option to disable it.
ant im not saying your wrong but 1.9 combat : it adds more skill to fighting in the game rather then just spaming the button / the servers can modify weapons cooldown speed 1.10 Auto jump : people who are not able to jump in minecraft because of physical problems can use it just turn it off
Well, 1.8 and under was just who could hit each other with a diamond sword faster. 1.9 made a choice: do you want a faster swinging sword with AOE, a slow swinging axe with high damage or a shovel somewhere in the middle.
Old combat was an eating contest. The guy who can eat more enchanted apples wins. Auto jump helps a lot with mining when u have a diagonal hole 100 blocks deep. It moves so much quicker on stairs with auto jump on.
uhm if i am waayyyyyyyyyyyyy better at aiming, strafing, and clicking than u, how are u going to hit me back, i can drain all of ur gaps before you even drained like two of mines
+Tigon it is an option and auto-jump is one of the best things to happen to MC PC because it makes it so you don't have to press space all the time except for when you're doing parkour
One thing to note about b1.8, all damage from the player was reduced by 1. This increased the time to kill pretty considerably, especially with enchants.
Before watching the video - Me: please don't include 1.9 EDIT: Ok, so he did include it. I don't think it's bad at all. And he has no point because it's already possible to turn it off using attribute modifiers, or plugins on servers.
Same. I also lived without them for ±3 years But now I can't anymore. Same with the internet. People have lived without it for 1000's of years. But now most people can't.
^ Also I edited the comment after watching the video. Still I think 1.9 was one of the best updates (together with 1.8, and 1.5, and probably updates before that but I only played since 1.4) I started to enjoy PvP because of the 1.9 update.
There are huge mistakes that have or are implemented into Minecraft. We need to voice outrage if Mojang is going to take ANY criticism/consumer opinions.
Justin Nguyen Did you not know how outraged the minecraft community got at Mojang for the 1.9 combat update, some people literally made death threats to the Mojang team, and what did Mojang do? Nothing. So I very highly doubt that this video will make any impact to Mojang.

Well the good thing is most PvP servers are 1.8 so there's no cooldown
FANTASTIC FHARLOW but most of them closed
I'm actually in the middle between; '1.9 sucks!' and '1.9 is more realistic'
1.9 makes for a better survival mode, and 1.7/8 are better for online pvp.
Realistic doesn't always equal more fun. In the case of 1.9, it doesn't.
@@flyisgame I never said it was fun for everyone. I just find myself using 1.9-1.13 more often than anything else.

Ant isn't trying to push Mojang to change these things. The video is more so made as entertainment.
So you`re someone who thinks change is always good then.
Um, there's a vast difference between complaining about changes to a game and criticising parts of a game that are broken or legitimately unfun. Constructive criticism is an important part of helping a game improve and be as enjoyable as possible.
That's absurd.
Well, I do have to agree with the automatic LAN server from 1.3, that's pretty stupid. Everything else though is bullsh*t.
Werent you the one who loveddd 1.9 so much before it came out and said people were just afraid of change??
+Envious .Lk im about 400% sure I said in the video that I'm a little unbiased on this one. I'm only really mad that there's no gamerule for it, considering there is for SOOOOOO many things. I literally said that in the video.
Not a gamerule, but it's pretty easy to make with command blocks.
what do you mean 1.10 is bad 1.10 is better than 1.9
+NIGHTMARE_ERR 623 - in my opinion, 1.10 was rushed out to quickly, and doesnt have anywhere near asmuch features /dev time as 1.6-1.9... and thats its main problem.
reason why 1.10 was so short is because they don't want to keep anyone waiting because 1.9 took like a year or two to come out so they want to munch a different small updates to just form into massave update the even said if you don't like the small updates then just wait till 1.14 or 15 comes out and stick with 1.9 for now
If this video were made more recently, I would’ve liked to see 1.13, since it completely ruined the entire command format.
Yeah... Since I’m a map creator, it’s even more annoying

Yeah, same. And also because Minecraft's netcode is far from perfect, the click-spamming system created some really frustrating situations where the enemy could hit you but not vice-versa. And while that's still the case, you can't get locked at a disadvantageous range anymore.
True, but is Minecraft really supposed to be realistic in any way?

You guys must suck at pvp lol
spamming was laughing now you wouldnt laugh BTW you a new player i can tell
yeah!
4:35 ant venom: “1.0 Minecraft release in 2011 had a bad enderdragon fight and it took until 1.9 to get fixed, TWO years later”
me: counting my fingers “ uh 1.9 didn’t come out in 2013 it came out in 2016 it came out five years later not two”
I was confused too
With 1.9, I think Mojang realized that the original combat system was to easy, in that, any fight came down to "how fast can you spam the mouse?" Too many of us got comfy with the old system and expected it to stay.
Poggin The Dwarf I agree with you in every way
"False. You needed to use techniques that were only learned through skill, e.g rodding, bridging, and FnS."
Which is basically just mindless fast finger transisition.
"PvP was based off of keystrokes and speed, not fucking using your big ass shield making what should be a 5 minute fight an hour long."
Lol, 1 hour long? seriously? When i pvp with my friend using OP armor it only takes about 7 minutes or so. Making the fight more meaningful instead of grindy.
the only thing you have to know is when to block and when to hit."
Which is also the old combat flaw.
You don't win by just clicking fastee
The old pvp wasn't only spam clicking, you had to aim, strafe, wtap, blockhit and use a bunch more strategies. You're saying that as if it was that easy to spam click. 1.9 pvp is easy for everyone and I don't understand why people think it takes skill when you just click, block, wait, click, block, wait. 7 minutes for a fight is too long.
Random Blade u need to time ur blockhit, wtap more than fucking 1.9
7 min for a fight either way is still long
a fight last 5 minute at max for me
I agree that the Auto jump is an useless addition for older gamers that are used to playing computer games.
5 year olds can reach all the buttons without any difficulty.
Ok I understand that there should a game rule but I think the 1.9 combat was needed
yep :)
FINALLY PEOPLE IN THIS COMMENT SECTION UNDERSTANDS WHAT HE HIS TRYING TO SAY

Unbelievable! A person that actually thinks instead of blurting out butthurt crap.
"Look at this pig, i can't hit it at all!" Proceeds to hit and kill the pig with no problems whatsoever
1.3 was awesome. It didn't add much, but it added many little things that changed minecraft forever.
1.3 added a billion good features and a billion bugs
1.9 was awesome too
+Ultra Luigi yeah
1.9 ruined minecraft for me
same
Combat update:
- Outer Space + End Cities = great
- Elytra = good
- Shield = awesome
- *New* Combat Mechanics = Horrible
On Minecraft PE they added everything from 1.9 , except for the Combat mechanics 😋
@@funplayer05.1 you lucky little bud
yeah yeah pre 1.9 combat mechanics with shields totally a great idea definitely not overpowered man I think you PVP shits don't need to play this game before actually thinking
Everyone was super mad about the new combat mechanics
*YEAH BECAUSE I PLAY MINECRAFT FOR ITS AWARD WINNING RPG COMBAT SYSTEM*
This isn't Dark Souls. Quit complaining.
Yup hah, is called Mine Craft, you Mine and Craft, not do PVP Online with others, you can but it's still a creativity based game.
Be like saying GTA V doesn't allow you to build your own house in Online hah, so it's automatically sh*t...
@@HiMrBob
It takes less than 5 seconds to 'master' that 'always fun' combat system you speak so highly of because it's literally just spam-clicking the mouse.
With the miniscule hit cooldown, this means people who just spam their left click won't be the better fighters, it will be those who use that small time to jump, get some crits in, and reposition their mouse.
pvp players is not pro players
Is just noobs hate cooldown In 1.9
What's the problem with cooldown, for example, it's better than S*HTY 1.8 combat
A lot hated it at the time, at least most of them grew up and retrained for modern combat
I personally think that beta 1.8 was the best update, and by far its my favourite
yep.. best
beta 1.8 was so broken
Beta 1.7 was great.
That update came out the day my pc broke and i couldn't play minecraft anymore
my fav one was 1.8 too I think but not because of the hunger system. It was because of the addition of endermans
The ender fight: it is not pathetic really, is it, because coding is very, very complicated and even if an entire comanny owkedd on it it cna take a very long time.
bro youre like 7 you dont know anything about coding

I liked infinite oceans. I liked having continents separated by ocean.
+WorcestershireySauce the problem is we didn't have continents. We had Hawaii's outer islands in between atlantic ocean sized oceans.
In 2018 1.13 update aquatic the just removed the whole tab autocorrect and destroyed the whole chat
2:15 Is my mind dirty or...
NONONONONO NOOOOO
Bruh
Oh sh*t
The cooldown is fucking genius. It stops the game from being a clickfest and so it adds a bit of strategy.
I would agree if the cooldown was ONLY triggered on a hit. It sucks to miss and have to wait, especially with mobs.
***** Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks for replying!
that's actually a very interesting point ant-i personally love the new combat system for the reason that Bunnyboy Carrot said, but i do think that what you said ant is a very valid argument.
+AntVenom That's part of the strategy IMO. Timing is key.
No way imo it's just annoying and makes things sluggish
I hate the new combat system.. I hate it so much ._.
Agreed, it was so simple, HOW DO YOU CHANGE SOMETHING THATS SO SIMPLE
GOD DAMMIT NOW IM STUCK IN 1.7.10
(i dont mind that actually I love that version to death.)
+The Real Deal Right, everything needs to be simple!!! God forbid you make it something a three year old can't understand and that actually requires skill.
1.9+ had some great features, and I would love to be able to use them, but I refuse to downgrade to the version that adds cooldowns. At the very least there should be an option to disable it.
git gud
Filip Me too
ant im not saying your wrong but
1.9 combat : it adds more skill to fighting in the game rather then just spaming the button / the servers can modify weapons cooldown speed
1.10 Auto jump : people who are not able to jump in minecraft because of physical problems can use it just turn it off
Someone's on my side
... yay
Ant is WRONG. But I agree still.
How can people say 1.9 has more skill? It is slower paced, unlike 1.8 which requires speed, and skill
Well, 1.8 and under was just who could hit each other with a diamond sword faster. 1.9 made a choice: do you want a faster swinging sword with AOE, a slow swinging axe with high damage or a shovel somewhere in the middle.
7:52 thats a lie, i like it

Old combat was an eating contest. The guy who can eat more enchanted apples wins.
Auto jump helps a lot with mining when u have a diagonal hole 100 blocks deep. It moves so much quicker on stairs with auto jump on.
uhm
if i am waayyyyyyyyyyyyy better at aiming, strafing, and clicking than u, how are u going to hit me back, i can drain all of ur gaps before you even drained like two of mines
And if i got more apples than you, i dont even need sword.
sure?
+DageLV You have obviously never player a proper minecraft PvP
Chara Orrrrr most players just spam clicked until the enemy was dead, which isn't realistic combat at all, which is why Mojang got rid of it.
Alternative title: Antvenom gets mad at minecraft.
what about the removal of minecraft lite
I still have minecraft lite on my old ipad. lol

I've died 100 million times playing games with auto jump...
Then disable it, sounds easy enough to me.
I hate auto jump...my friend plays with it on so i forget to turn it of after she leaves...
East Coast Multimedia every time you join a server or single player game you have to enable it. It doesn’t save which is annoying
New combat... i sorta like it
but not auto jump
It's good you can easily kill kill aura users
i think auto jump should be an option, but not a default setting!
+Tigon it is an option and auto-jump is one of the best things to happen to MC PC because it makes it so you don't have to press space all the time except for when you're doing parkour
+ibraheem but it makes it more realistic
One thing to note about b1.8, all damage from the player was reduced by 1. This increased the time to kill pretty considerably, especially with enchants.
Some people: 1.9 Update is bad an totally useless
Your mouse that just stop breaking because you stopped spam clicking: Am I a joke to you?
Actually spam clicking was bad because weapons break faster, it was always better to wait 1 second before next attack
Before watching the video - Me: please don't include 1.9
EDIT: Ok, so he did include it. I don't think it's bad at all. And he has no point because it's already possible to turn it off using attribute modifiers, or plugins on servers.
Ew 1.9 and 1.10
What's wrong with them.
They're awesome. I can't live without them!
Same. I also lived without them for ±3 years
But now I can't anymore.
Same with the internet. People have lived without it for 1000's of years. But now most people can't.
Yeah, they're great updates
^
Also I edited the comment after watching the video.
Still I think 1.9 was one of the best updates (together with 1.8, and 1.5, and probably updates before that but I only played since 1.4)
I started to enjoy PvP because of the 1.9 update.
This rant video had like no point.. sorry ant but what was the purpose of this video?
There are huge mistakes that have or are implemented into Minecraft. We need to voice outrage if Mojang is going to take ANY criticism/consumer opinions.
IKR
The purpose of the video was for Ant to explain what he thinks are the worst minecraft updates. It's in the title and the description.
Because it's interesting
Justin Nguyen Did you not know how outraged the minecraft community got at Mojang for the 1.9 combat update, some people literally made death threats to the Mojang team, and what did Mojang do? Nothing. So I very highly doubt that this video will make any impact to Mojang.
So, I'm basically one of the rare to really enjoy what happened to combat in 1.9 and thinks it's perfect since then ?
Ykario same
Yep
1.9 > before
Agrees
am i the only one who loves 1.9+ pvp and hates 1.8- pvp
I love the new combat, much more fair and skillbased :D
nope ^^^
_people saying "noone likes it" you're absolutely wrong_
Yep I love that update. It would make pvp servers a lot more fun and you would require more skill to play
Nope.
I'm fine with it for singleplayer, but it just doesn't fit with pvp at all.
when you get mad, you sound like phineas from phineas and ferb
The only thing I hate about combat update is that it didn't came out in the indev versions.
good joke
There was a lot of snapshots, what do you mean?
