You should (obviously) check out their previous album. I myself want to listen to both back to back, because they use similar or sometimes identical vocal samples, and I wonder to what extent this one is meant as a continuation. Also, they have 4 "Phoenix" songs by now (one of them includes two parts, for some reason), and they say that each one is meant to be a representation of their overall style and their understanding of music in general at the moment of writing the song. And the music video for Phoenix IV: Levitation is this huge montage of around a 100 movies that were used as inspiration.
8:34, i think a lot of the reason people say it's so scary is because of the atmosphere. I believe the story or parts of the story revolve around a dream one of the producers had, so that's basically how the movie came to be
It's a really good movie with amazing atmosphere, I just don't find it that scary. Maybe because I'm desensitized to horror or even that movie in particular since I've seen it a bunch of times
Aric Improta is the probably the most creative drummer ever. Chops, pocket, and ingenuity. His video Blur lights in the videodrome is 40 minutes of things you've never heard or at the very least in that way. He uses alot of sample pad in his drumming to add melody to rhythm. I do think calling this the greatest instrumental album ever is a stretch but it's subjective. One of my personal favorites is Meridian by The Helix Nebula.
I'll get to it, I just don't have the time lately. Been busy with school and work and life. I haven't had a couple hours free to record an album video in a while but once mid-may hits I'll have way more free time
Answer: YES
My AOTY so far
no
FUCK YES
You hit the nail on the head with that sinister comparison to the album art
Thank you for always bringing up cool new (to me) stuff.
That's the goal! I love sharing underrated bands
Might genuinely be the greatest instrumental album I have heard in my life, been obsessed since I found them, ungodly amounts of talent
The nana nana nana rhythm is in 8 gates from the start, so fucking genius oh my god
Yeah

That's pretty cool! Their previous album is already on my Patreon poll

Definitely up there as one of the best at least. Also I highly recommend The Black by Imminence; the ending to that song is beautifully haunting
