The Most Radical Pro-Touring 9th Gen F-150 Ever Built

- On this episode, Sean from Innovaspeed shows us everything you need to know that went into building his radical 9th Gen 1995 Ford F-150 commonly referred to as the RoadRaceF150. This video although longer than most is very inspiring to anyone wanting to just dig in and get their hands dirty by doing the job themselves. Sean went into this build with a plan in his head but not much else. Through trials and tribulations Sean persevered and was able to accomplish what you see before you. Like any project or build this one is not 100% finished as there's always something you want to change or improve and this is no different but Sean can race his truck in it's current state as he plans his next mods and hopefully we'll be there to document them when he does.

As a die hard ford guy THANK YOU for not only building one of the baddest OBS trucks ever, you did it with a ford motor. You have my upmost respect for not going the LS route that so many take. Super amazing truck.
Thanks!
Damn!! Homeboy sliding towards that curb in the opening scene!
Yea he can’t drive
@@top-notchfrenchiesofhousto6345 naw he learned that from NFS.
@@top-notchfrenchiesofhousto6345 Because your the next Dale Earnhardt... Its called a power slide.. If he couldn't drive he would have smashed the curb.. if you even watched the video and grasped anything from the truck, you would understand that he. Eeds more downforce to make the truck stick better in corners.. and possibly better coil overs...
Either way this truck is a 1000 times better then factory. And the guy was noce enough to share his tips and knowledge.
So go ride your razor scooter off into the sunset
About 10 years ago I built one of these trucks. Lowered it 3" in the front and 4" in the rear. Used custom I beams in the front with Eibach springs and lowering brackets on the stock rear leafs. I changed most of the bushings to greasable urethane, and used Bilstein shocks and thicker sway bars in front and rear. I had to relocate the mounting points of the rear shock so they would be more upright. Last mod was a custom built and much tighter steering box, and I swear the truck handled better than any Mustang or Camaro I'd ever owned. So for anyone out there thinking about building one of these, you don't have to go as radical as this guy to build a very fun ride. That, said, I'm glad he did go all out because this truck is very cool!!
I wish I was talented enough like you guys to build cool 💩
Cool story bro
what lowering kit did you use?
@@alexm6428 I built the rear leaf spring lowering brackets, and shock relocation brackets myself . Used Dream Beams and Eibach springs in the front. Also used Helwig antisway bars and Edelbrock shocks
This guy's self confidence and positivity is great. To hell with a degree. He's an engineer.
I agree 100%
Thanks! I appreciate that so much!
From a guy that has no clue, there's alot of inspiration in this video. Thanks
YESSSSSS! Count me in as all sorts of on board! That's my OG, a 1995 F-150. And yes, count me in as happy that you were a purest with the powerplant ;)
GM trans......
@@hartle4 actually this has all Ford sensors and is basically a much stronger T5 like you could find in the mustangs.
I still come to watch this video over and over, that is one bad truck!!!
i think this video is what everyone who owns an obs ford needed to see. will definitely be contacting you for more questions on the suspension. great content couldn’t have been better!
Thanks. Reach out to his IG. He’s very good at responding
He says he's not an engineer, but he sounds like an engineer...Awesome truck from Sean, awesome content from you!
Thank you for the kind words
Talking about logic statements and pwm lol. The dude obviously goes deep and is passionate about what he does.
Extremely impressive. Phenomenal description. Love your ingenuity. I have a 93 lighting. Vin #2. Sitting in driveway not running. Needed the inspiration to get back to it. Thanks.
How much you want hahahh
Bro, what you achieved is phenomenal, yeah you lost personal time but look what you created. Congratulations
Such a good video and truck! Thanks Sean, great to see such a hands on build!
Thank you for keeping a sbf in er. Everyone does ls swaps in everything these days it's gotten boring. One of the sickest obs trucks I've seen man good job
The thought crossed my mind, but I have other LS swaps already so this one definitely needed to stay more true to it's roots. Thanks for watching!
my dad had a 92 f150. he died in 96 unexpectedly and we had to sell big blue. i’ve bought blue fords since but this is how i imagined the f150 since we both wanted a lightning. anyways amazing build, love every decision you made!!
Awesome truck. Love to see someone put that kind of love into that model F-150. Looks absolutely amazing and like a blast to drive on straight or curvey roads
I’m a Chevy guy but any car guy has too appreciate this ford. I love it it’s sick
This makes me appreciate my 2003 f150 because there actually is quite a bit of support for lowering and handling on the platform
And now more coming in a few months. 😉
i have a 95 flareside that i got new on my 17th birthday. it has five spd and straight 6. love it. it is my baby.
This concept is amazing! Alot of time and dedication that's for sure. I'm truck guy love to see this kinda work being done. I have old 66 ford would like do something to it like this. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!!
In regards to what you said about fuel economy, I learned in late 90s while researching retrofitting sequential efi onto a Ram Air III 400 Pontiac (Old Accel kit on Torquer II intake, 600hp range) that when you make an engine more efficient (to get more power) if you do it right your fuel economy goes up WITH your power, unlike how back in the day fuel economy wasn't a thought when building a carbed street machine. I just scratch my head when some people still sound surprised about that.
Anyway VERY cool truck! And yes if you'd just LS swapped it I woulda left the video outa boredom haha
Bad ass build and thing looks killer. Thanks for keeping sbf in it
Was thinking about building a 2nd Foxbody but now thinking about building a mid 90's F-150 after this video.
Do it!
Go check his Instagram seems like he's looking at trying to put out a suspension kit
@@ws8061 thanks, I am taking what I've done and making it a kit anyone can install.
More character lays inherent to a hotrod Ford than we'll ever see in a aftermarket rich thing like a Chevvie. Hotrod Fords are a true labor of dedication, skill and talent. Beauty truck. Love it!
Sean will appreciate the kind words.
I'm glad I come across this... I've wanted to build my 93 similar for 2 years, never knew that there was a pro touring following...
It will be about 2 years from now is when I figure I can start my build...
Better late than never
So motivational! I've got a 93 Bronco I daily drive. You've got some crazy engineering behind your build. Well done!!
No joke... I'm dead serious! If this truck is ever up for sale please let me know! I had a Blue 1995 F150 when I was in high school and this truck is everything I wanted my old truck to be but I couldn't afford it as a broke High school student. So please let me know if it ever comes up for sake because I will buy it! Love it! Thank you for this content!
If he ever was to sell it he’d post something on his IG account
It's always for sale if someone had the desire to write a $65k check. Otherwise, I'll keep developing it forever.
If you put it on the laser alignment rack you would probably be surprised in a good way. Nice job
I came for the thumbnail and fell in love but wow what a project, resources and talent can produce nice things
Real motivation for me,am restoring a 1990 ford ranger 2.3l 4cyl xlt from 2020 and I just get it started a couple days ago .I wish all the best for you and your truck.
I literally searched high ram 9th gen f150 so I could see exactly this motor. Thank you. I have a 95 f250 that I want to make a good working truck and the existing "stock swap" 351w wire harness is junk. This truck is everything I wanted to do with mine!
Sean is a good guy too. He’ll take the time to talk and answer any questions. DM him at innovaspeed if you’d like
The Holley EFI system definitely is a game changer and I absolutely love this intake.
@@Innovaspeed Glad to know the Holley setup is awesome! If I don't do the 351w with the Holley Hi-Ram, I'm going to do the new Godzilla 7.3L.
@@andrewwiser3643 built 351w stroker will be a lot cheaper just so ya know.
@@Innovaspeed Oh, I believe it 100%. There is just something about the Godzilla that tickles my fancy. I've got a spare 1972 block that is already .040 over. Maybe I'll use it.
so glad you chose the 95 f150........ they use to be belly button trucks but not no mow.....glad I held onto one of mine all these years as you know......its a one of a kind.
i did the prerunner style on one of mine but ended up selling my other 95 that was going to be the street machine......wish i still had it but kids came along.....
im still working out bugs on mine from the front/back total mods done...... 10+ years on some bugs that are 90% but, not quite done yet....
This is crazy, we discussed this exact truck on Facebook not too long ago and today I came across your UA-cam channel! Love this.
Thanks. I appreciate that
@@315squared4 I do too, had to cut it short last night since it was so late, but I'll finish it today no doubt.
This is amazing. Very Very well done... wow. This thing is perfect and gorgeous.I too have a 1995 f150 with a 5.8/351. It however is a 4x4 and is actually Bright sapphire pearl metallic (Blurple). I love that truck and will forever keep it. My eventual goal is to swap in a 7.3 godzilla and I just might have to control it with all the Holley stuff and rewire the truck with the racepak... thanks to Sean for the idea on that! I want to keep the stock interior so I can preserve the memories that were created in that truck.
Sounds like a fun street truck! Look forward to seeing that. I'm a big fan of Blurple
@@Innovaspeed She is kinda a rarity id say! Factory offroad package xlt with the 5.8. The paint is a one year only code JA
Great person who loves what hes doing thank you for takeing the time out and haveing a real talk about what you do !!!!!
This truck is freaking beautiful
Coolest 9th gen build I think I've seen
Thank you for sharing so much information. This video is an inspiration to all us car / truck guys with builds. I really enjoyed the suspension cam clips. It must have been very helpful in your custom suspension build. Definitely move forward with the aero treatment. Front splitter, rear wing and flat bottom to diffuser. Use 1/4 turn fasteners in the flat bottom build for quick access.
Thanks for the kind words 👍🏼
I concur on the fuel cell being behind the cab. Great tip on the fire extinguisher 🙌
Way awesome truck, I have 4 of that generation. Different body and tonnage. I will joining you on the road to making a road course truck, sure has been my dream for a long time.
Bravo! Trucks aren't exactly my cup of tea, but I have tons of respect for your skills and abilities! Thanks for taking the time to break down the build! I salute you, sir! Keep at it. All of us car (or truck) guys know our projects are never truly finished. But you've done great so far! I can't wait to see future improvements.
He’s already made major body changes
Great truck. Love these obs in any form but yours is definitely special.
Love it! the Bullnose and Bricknose Fords are becoming a VERY popular build here in Florida, mainly because they are the last of affordable classic trucks. You can't even look at a Squarebody Chevy, Dent side Ford or D-150 Truck that's suitable to build much less drive for less 5k where you can go find a 7th, 8th or 9th gen F-150 for $2500 or less and drive it home and drive it while you build it.
Awesome build dude! Very inspiring!
Love it. Amazing story, build, and video.
Exceptionally nice truck/build, not to mention a ton of info in the video, THANK YOU for posting sir!
“Had to build it all to have it all” love it from Gilbert
So glad I found your video, can't wait to work with you on my truck and setup a 3 link. Looking forward to our partnership!
Dude u are nuts!! Such a cool build and love the energy u put into it!!! Nice truck and congratulations on getting it done!! Super awesome vid!!!
Thanks for the kind words
That truck sounds really good!!!
Great truck man! Sorry, but NO TRUE ford guy would EVER mistake a SBF for an LS. No resemblence at all. So glad you stayed true to the original powerplant.
Outstanding build
Dude Bravo!! Its the perfect build
Been following a long time! Love it!
Perfect or not that truck is sick, not going give up on my 99 expedition.
Got a 93 150, I’m 81 disabled vet, building a 347, top loader, taller Yukon gears, Vic front, my last build, grocery gitter with attitude. Your truck is sweet, engine? Sounds Coyote. Going for tangerine pearl with a little black cherry.
My old man built that motor in the factory at that time so cool 🤣 351 Windsor
Cool build.. love you kept it blue oval!!!

@@hartle4 well almost...
this is a bad ass build i've always thought about doing something like this had one of these trucks love the body
Do it! Soon I'll have a full line of parts to make it possible.
This is so good! Such good info and it give me hopes to do all the crazy stuff for my widebody SN95
Thank You
What a amazing job you did on this truck.
Thanks so much!
This is the most bad ass f150 build ever!!!! Thnk u for building this. Im about to head down 'the rabbit hole' myself. Hope u are available for questions. FYI, my truck is an 02 F150 Stepside.
Well I won’t be able too but Sean at Innovaspeed is always down to help with questions and he has his own UA-cam channel as well that explains the build process
Fantastic build!!
Dude awesome build and skills: one of my fav Ford truck body styles. Cherry on top is the efi small block Ford👍
Heart dropped on the opening scene. I thought it was gonn hit the curb.
Yeah, that would’ve sucked and I would’ve felt really bad.
Nice very nice build, it's nice to see a ford truck and rengine together, lots like a lot of fun to drive!!
Great job, love your truck.
I love where the exhausts are exiting ...♥️🤟
Fantastic build, love the attention to detail and you explaining it all 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I agree. A guy commented that It was too much talking but I thought the information Sean was giving was very beneficial and informative
@@315squared4 lots of UA-camrs talk a lot of nonsense sure not this guy, I was hanging on every single word and related to everything he said.
@@lamboferruccio I appreciate that 👍🏼
Thank you for sharing the video it was really informative and I would like if you would keep sharing these videos and they were very educational thanks for your help
Awesome truck!!! I love OBS Fords and actually all Fords for the most part.
Great video! I am building (slowly) a 1990 and this is hugely helpful. Also, confirms that I was right to swap to a 351. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼
Awesome channel I'm loving it!!
Thanks. I appreciated that
Nice OBS Ford. One of my favorite years and still ford powered.
Love everything about this truck and video
Thanks Man 👍🏼
Love the build. Im building your distant red chevy cousin lol. Your build and the C10r were my inspirations.
Seen this truck on a trailer in Phoenix and had to find it on UA-cam! Awesome build!
Thanks. I appreciate that
Small world, that's awesome! Hope to see you at an event.
Love that blue color,I like these older trucks over the new f150s.It really is special seeing a lowered f150 most are lifted with goofy over sized tires and spaced way out.Good job dude ,nice build and video.
Thanks. Appreciate that
well said ima build one very similar looking to this one but led foot grey and black instead of blue
Mad Respect for such a Awesome truck. Hope you continue to work on it to reflect your abilities
He’s already changed it a bunch since we shot it
I'm still just getting started. ;)
Watching this on my lunch break lol I guess I have a problem too! Doing research for LS in my bronco 😂
Haha Perfect
Nice truck man. Was always my dream job to work in a fabrication/ car shop like yours. I should've packed up and moved south or west 20 year's ago now and still regret it all the time as up here in New England those types of garages and shops weren't a thing in the late 90's early 2000's when I was constantly building cool project vehicles for myself and friends.
Edit: I just turned 41 in January and I learned to weld on my 12th bday from my father who was a professional welder amongst other trades like truck driver and mechanic.
It's never too late
What a sweet ford
Beautiful Truck
What an amazing and beautiful truck. I'm building a '92 red F150 single cab short bed now. I've done the Crown Vic front suspension swap and the Crown Vic rear on top of the truck leafs. I'll be running caltracs with the leafs and retaining the CV's Watts link to keep it centered. Hopefully it hooks and rides nice. You're not kidding about the I-beam front being heavy. After dragging the CV front into the shop and the stock front out, I can say at least 100lbs lighter, maybe 200. I'm shooting for ~3800lbs with me in it (my '95 stock scsb is 4200lbs with me). Running gear will be from a 2001 Ford Lightning. Mine won't be anywhere near the level of this, but I'm excited to get it going. That front bumper looks perfect on your truck. I was looking at using a 2010-14 paintable rear bumper with a hidden hitch after shortening the sides for better looks. Again, beautiful build.
Sean and I appreciate the nice comments
You need to take this to Hoonigan Garage dude. This is worthy of being a famous build
I have contacted them, but they don't seem overly interested.
@@Innovaspeed THat's sad honestly, but they prolly have years worth of shit lined up, but imo, this build is just worthy of being vetted in man
Great build. Love the blue
-1999 KMC “Bofa” F150
Thank You
No such thing
DieselDabz710 no such thing as what?
DieselDabz710 if you are referring to the KMC F150, dig up Street Trucks June 2001 cover with it. Only solid black, no graphics cover to this day. Layin frame on 22’s, first ever in the world at the time. Dunlop Tire and KMC wheel and PPG sponsored truck
Great job. Love it
Thanks you
I’m getting ready to do a coyote swap on a 1991 F150 so I’m looking for all the info I can find. Thank you for your video that’s an amazing truck !!!
Im from phx spend half my life on the street why haven’t I seen this Ford crusing ? Clean truck 🛻 great job . You should take it to the Ford truck meets 😎
Tell me where to find them!
Such a nice build, love the color. Only thing it needs is......BOOST!!!!!!! which is a replacement for displacement
Your truck is awesome.
Ford guys breathe it's not an LS motor??? If anybody is a Ford guy then yeah we saw the distributor we didn't panic or anything.🤙
Typical Coyote motor which is Ford's equivalent to GM's LS platform. Still played out..
You're absolutely correct about That, the LS platform is defiantly played out.👍😆
Beautiful truck love it
This just popped up in my feed and I'm glad it did. I had wondered about doing the crown vic swap on one of these trucks but didn't know if it could be done on any of them this new. That had been my plan all along if it could work.
Follow his IG and his UA-cam channel. He’s constantly improving on it. He’s very knowledgeable
Very nice great job. Doing the same with my 2020 f150rcsb xl 5.0 litre 10 speed paddle shifters 4/6 drop helwig bars 20x10 with 305/35/20 tires. Tuned by oz boss 302 intake manifold. 3.55 gears.
I know this is old for you but it's new for me. This truck is gorgeous. I love the mid 80's and mid 90's F-150s. I'm finally starting my first swap. Ls3/6L80 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I want to turn her into a track car. Street/ track. I have my block at the machine shop..
Bro... I'm floored ... This is on exception of digital and what suspension to use exactly what I been dreaming of wanting to do with my hotrod road racing idea for my 93 f150 that is currently my start up business work truck...
That thing is wicked holy shit. It’s close too what I wanna make my 2003 Sierra stepside shorty into,. I love the truck love the story
Thanks. I appreciate that
Your truck gets better mileage than my 5.3 1500 on 33s in the "city" Awesome build.
Ya those small LS motors suck, FUEL.
Cool build. Have followed build since start. Sean is about 7 mi from me as crow flies.
He’s a great fabricator with a great mind. Not too bad of a guy too lol
taco Tuesday is life!!! YESSSSS!!!!
