This series is addicting. Nothing beats the good ole' test of time Chevy vs Ford saga.
I agree, I have been following this series and look forward to the final shootout
Every time I see the vids from this Chanel I think it is from the 90s
This is from 08 so its fairly old
Feels like im watchin stacey davids "trucks" show again...
(Edit.. 3 days later..
2 minutes after i made this comment i noticed the "TRUCKS" on the back wall haha)
No wonder why it feels like im watching that show
Tyler Cooper 2010
Lol lowkey me too 😂
Man the 1sgtGen Lightning has aged really well. I'd love to have one!
Did this to a 95 ranger with hand tools. On our backs. It was fun being young 🤣
This was part of my childhood I remember when Stacy Dave was host and this is what got me into the automotive world as a kid to this day
I can’t stop watching this series! I wanna see how they turn out!!
Break The Bricks Down
Ford wins
This is a few years old and yes Ford won
Thx for the spoiler...ass

timothy twogood thank you!!!
Back when you could pack your bearings lol
You guys make everything look like a walk in the park. I spent 4 hours changing a thermostat in my Chevy impala last week. The damn thing is behind the header
Automotive engineers should have to be a mechanic before they are allowed to engineer anything.
A fully stocked shop with lifts and pneumatic tools makes for easy work
@@bmstylee no mr bill... These american companies shouldnt design things to nickel and dime you to death while they make billions..
Most people would have to have that done at a dealership.. Which means if they design it to be in a stupid spot that takes a tech 4 hours to change... Thats 4 hours you have to pay them to do it.. and they know that..
They know fully well they could of made it a 15 min job but they would never make any money. Cause you could buy a $10 part and do it your self for free. Instead of paying a dealership $95 an hour plus parts..
You want good engineered vehicles that are well designed and eay to work on.. You buy old german or old japanese vehicles...
Theyre engineered like tanks and is why lots of them are still around on the road..
And is also why japanese cars last 3x longer then american ones
@@thegreatwhitenorth8754 true. The only downside is finding parts that don't cost more than the old foreign car. Even stuff that seams like it should be cheap is absurdly expensive.
If you put headers on ur impala you shouldnt have a problem changing a thermostat.
Damn I love these trucks!! I can’t wait for the race haha it’s going to be fun! Keep it up guys highly addictive content for American muscle fans out here.
Damn that's super awesome Lightning! The first gen F150 Lightning's are the best looking muscle trucks!
Nothing will ever beat that voice over!
One of the requirements to be on this show is you always have to talk like your in a slim jim commercial
OH YEAH!
@@eizzle78 ha ha...yeah, or duff man
Loomis YES! Duffman! But then they’d have to start talking in the third person.
🤣😂
Put it on BLAST! "SLIM JIM... SNAP INTO EM!" LOL
These trucks look great. I love this series
It’s so refreshing to see someone building a Ford there are more Ford truck owners than any other brand with many high-performance parts yet everyone seems to build GM I don’t really understand that but thank you for restoring an icon truck
Gm is cheeper to build than a ford or a dodge thats why
Love this series can't wait to see a drag race
@@philtripe free country, free speech. preachy
I bet I checked UA-cam 4 times this week waiting for this episode. Hooked
Finally something on here that is not an LS swap, good ole fashion horsepower. Can't wait to see how they turn out.
Its also nice seeing something other then a mustang. Camaro or a corvette...
I dont even go to car shows anymore cause thats all you see.. Its boring as hell just like the ls swaps
Really like this show!
You are living the dream my friend
These shows really had us thinking we could do frame off resto's and complete engine rebuilds in our driveway with a drill and few wrenches...the only reason i watched TNN, Speed channel, and spike back in the day
Went the video start I said.. hmm looks like a 15 years old quality... but... I am still here ... cant stop wicthing till the end
That red lighting would be a really good first car 😉
"Troca"
It's like a competition of how fast can they assemble it. Plus every thing is put together dry.
Luv kiilin time at work with this and the kittykat build
I have a 96 f150 I inherited from my grandfather bone stock nothing is ever been done to this truck except for tuneups and it's a long bed but it has a rear sway bar from the factory
Usually the higher trims did, I’ve seen a couple with a rear sway bar.
CHEVY RULES!!!
I loved the music from this show
Need to add a late 90s dodge dakota R/T to the mix.
@Joshingya uh oh. Shots fired.
Why the Dakota can't keep up with even a horse and buggy
Chris Lesemann yes they can 😂 they were fast back in the day! They lit up good and easy
Blue 99 r/t rc in my garage. Still runs great.
bigtx77 they were quick!!!
Traction bars look sweet.
The EBC slotted and dimpled rotors are amazing but their green pads are definitely street pads. Even if your F-150 isn't a track monster, if you want better stopping power for these heavy trucks use Hawk pads instead.
the twin I beam also carried over to every econoline thru 2014 and the cab and chassis up till today.
Thanks guys
Really glad they kept the stock wheels
Hell yea, Ford Nation
Oh man, shout out to Lightningrodder RIP. That was a hell of a forum.
I'm working on turning a '99 F150 king cab into a lightning clone they never made. I like the drop they did, not too much not too little
That lightning... Ive been drawing and dreaming of a truck built like this since I was a kid. I turn 30 in 2 goddamn days, my 95 f150 4x4 is long gone, but when I get another, I'm doing this to it. Same stuff, just in a 302-powered 4wd XLT.
Happy birthday
@@BIGGIEDEVIL Thank you! :D
Y’all dropped all this money on new parts and you didn’t spring the $25 for new fasteners?
Good point, but as already stated I guess they didn’t have a good sponsor. I thought they had Moog though.
And junkyard coil springs lol
Addco sway bars are the original diameter but are solid and stiffer than oem yet are soft enough to allow full articulation on trucks for off road...i use the addco with oem brackets for the front (the Addco ones both eventually broke) and Hellwig for the rear sway on my 03 Taco
That Ford lightning is gonna be a great truck 👌

I remember Found On Russian Dump
At the end of last episode, you sprayed the WD40 across your shop floor... Be sure to avoid stepping in that area🤘
Crown Vic front suspension swap 👌 for the SVT
Need to add a 1991 Syclone to the mix.
Looks like you guys need a wheel alignment 😂
Did I just see grade 5 bolts on those rear spring hangers? They should be grade 8 unless you want to take out a crowd sometime with no warning.
Every truck you touch gets lowered and a ride package to make it handle like sports car, trucks were meant to sit high.
WanSolve ...correction: 4 wheel drive trucks were meant to sit up off of the ground, 2 wheel drive trucks need to be dropped as far as they can go, with a pumped up motor under the hood....
My wife's traverse has those Bridgestones
EGGINFOOLS 😭
those old I beams sure did sag though @ 4:28 you can clearly see the bend...i found a good shop back in the day that would heat the entire beam and re arch them back to straight even though it says not to right on the beam but boy what a difference it makes for a regular driver type of truck
You Sir are a moron, the I-beams are forged steel they can stand Hell. Regarding your "...i found a good shop back in the day that would heat the entire beam and re arch them back to straight even though it says....." Sadly you are clueless.
I know this series is some years back where can I get some thicker sway bars I have a 92 flareside single cab that's has the same lowering kit.
Regular f150s do have a rear sway bar. But it's on extended cabs.
I’ve never wanted a 1st gen lightening so badly
I wish I had budget like these guys.....
in part 1 of this series they specifically said "We both wanted trucks as close to stock as possible" by now, each of these trucks has had twice if not 4-times their actual market value dumped into them in _bolt-on performance parts..._ I feel like I'm watching memoirs from two Technical high school auto shop students in the second half of their senior year being filmed by the AV Club dork so he gets rides to school for the rest of the year...
Ah the good old days, when a turbo sbf making 4-500ish hp was respectable. It was a simpler time.
most people can't handle 250 hp let alone 400-500.
remember watching these when I was young like wow that didn't look like to much work....then u realize when your older that each truck go about 10-20k worth of upgrades and work lol
Why would you replace the front suspension, rotors and pads and not replace the calipers?
Have you thought about adding a spacer to the back wheels bring them out more to match the front. I think that'll make it looks a little better also
But that era of vehicle, thats how people had the tires... That was cool back then..
Just like if i were to build a 2002 escalade.. It would have spinners and tvs everywhere and lambo doors lol
What’s the part number on the sway bar kit
What’s the part number of them Bilstein shocks.I just lower mine and use DJM shocks but there no good
My 2008 F250 2WD still has twin I-Beams in the front. They last forever
will be in good shape! dude needs to change his main line
So do the traction bars correct the pinion angle after lowering it or what did you do about that?
I did this djm kit to my lightning but used caltracs and it sits higher than before could it be the shock i put it the opposite way you guys did
I’m curious as to how long the coldside to throttle body piping is lol
Lol way too long. I’m sure it’s still a decent gain, didn’t make a lot of sense with all that room under the hood though.
to really show the work you guys do you should do before and after performance by the numbers. eight mile, quarter mile, figure 8, skid pad, maybe even a road course
Got bad news for you. Buy some Ruby-Red Slippers click your heels together and repeat: should do before and after performance by the numbers. eight mile, quarter mile, figure 8, skid pad, maybe even a road course
you forgot silicone lubricant for those polyurethane bushings
I'm doing a 1996 F-150 extended cab project and I'm going name it lightning with attitude don't have a 6.8 V10 in it 308 gear positraction
correction the TTB was used up until 2014 in the E-series van
My vote goes to boost. A little biased maybe. Let’s see that Chevy get the hairdryer next
Kinda makes you wonder what the budget was for each truck.
When Ryan talks, it's like he's almost yelling. Pretty weird.
👍
great show guys .. i am curious to know if the lowering job effects the trucks payload hauling capabilities ??
It shouldn't - unless they went with a lighter spring - most have the same weight carrying ability
Not significantly.
Huh.. Those rear shocks looked like they were stock length.. Did I miss something??
Are the radius arm holes supposed to be that big? They looked like there was a ton of slop
A re powder coat to those stock rims would be a lot better and gave a new modern look...
Hey you installed the rear shocks upside down.
So no Intercooler???? Nice
Only problem I have so far is that they did not grease the urethane bushings when they put them in. That thing is going to squeak like crazy.
barrie livingston these come pre greased
Anybody know where to buy new front spindles for these F-150 trucks?
Stop dragging it out!!! Get the damn trucks on the strip already!!!!!!!!!!
This series reminds me of Donut’s High/Low show
My tundra already has billstien shocks
I got a xmas add ti.e.for a tree lol
Bridgestone dualer alenza on the tires the ford had
When does the Lightning go up for sale?
13:27 I have a 1991 F 150 special edition extended cab and it does have a factory rear sway bar I guess that it's because it's a special edition with all options added to it since new but it does have a sway bar and its not a lightning
Gerardo Mendoza I have an 88 F-150 single cab xlt lariat and it also has a sway bar in the rear.
@@carlosdeanda3682 👍
That was a bad piece of info on his part. Most of them did.
I have a 92 short bed regular cab 2wd that has a factory rear sway bar also.
Not enough negative front camber on the dropped Lightning front suspension. It looks like it actually has positive front camber.
Ford still has Twin I Beam on 2wd 250 & 350 models if you can find a 2wd one
Hey powernation you guys should do a OXR episode of a dodge ramcharger
I have a Ford F-150 1993 like damn I want someone to tune up my engine block like that
Y'all should do the ram ss/t
Ohyea alot people Don t like dodge but it's faster all 3 trucks looks good tho
@bigtx77 yea the old magnum did sound good
The question I have is Why did you install the Bilstein shock "Upside Down"????
DitzyDoo it doesn't matter which direction they go, you can even put them sideways
@@alexcorona yes, but the dust boots tend to collect and hold water when their inverted. plus it jus looks wrong.
Look how easy the 454 is to work on and then look at the Ford lighting
Could the traction bars be installed on a bronco?
Nick David....why would anyone want to install traction bars on a 4wheel drive rig? I've got a 74 Bronco and I don't see where it'd be an advantage to have traction bars underneath my rig.....
That kit works as well with 1996 f150 longbed?
The lightning has a different suspension setup, so hard to say.
I need more info on the Mickey Thompson wheels…
I swear this is a rerun from over 10 years ago. I know I've seen this series before on tv!
Rustic Shine you are correct these are re-runs. But I enjoy watching them
If this was a re run. I wish they would just put them all on here so I dont have to wait every week
@@coryshade2673 definitely a rerun. It even says 2010 2011 at the end credits!
Ill take the black SS please, but needs some meats on those wheels.
I would love to see a rolling tally of the parts cost and the number of hours to get an idea of what a project like this would cost.
More then what the trucks are worth the heads , cam and efi setup is a easy $5000 on the 454ss , I would imagine at least $10,000 total per truck
@@simbanugz2906 probably somewhere in that area. It's a toy not a daily driver so it's a luxury that people will spend discretionary income on.
Simba Nugz yeah I was thinking probably even more than that
Wild Bill oh I get that and have no problem with it. They are probably fun toys as well. I wouldn’t expect them to be cost effective or some sort of good investment. I was just wondering how much of the cost was for the truck purchase and how much additional it took to complete the project.
