Being a "California Girl" myself, we have been in many tunes over the years. Used to see Jon and his wife at Masetros Restaurant & Lounge in San Ramon, California.
John Stewart, Sniff 'n' the Tears, Flash in the Pan...at the time all presumably one hit wonders got me through high school....turn it up and break off the knob.
John Stewart made over 30 albums and wrote way over 300 songs. One hit wonder? He wrote "Daydream Believer" (no. 1 for Monkees), "Runnaway Train" (no. 1 for Roseanne Cash), and had 2 other top 40 hits himself. Also Billboard put his album "California Bloodlines" on one of their top 100 lists. He had (and still does) a loyal 'cult' following. I went to 23 of his concerts in the 70s cause I couldn't get enough of his guitar work (in concert he would do long complex guitar solos that never appeared on his albums). He was a total axemaster. How I miss him . . .
@@imoldgreggboosh3467 songwriter for the Kingston Trio in the 60s so obviously not a one hit wonder....he's credited for the guitar riffs in that song even though Lindsay Buckingham also collaborated...sounds a lot like LB
Is this a road or road through a town. I remember when I first heard it. I thought it was a Fleetwood Mac song and the band got back together. I'm 57 was a kid than. Lots of great songs and shows in the 70s. I actually cried on new years eve in 79 because I things was changing and as I look back over the years I seen why our country is in the state that's its in today. Sad really. But over the years we got some great songs to get you through the tough times.

loved this one when it 1st came out & still do. Saw John on Solid Gold performing this song. Never realized Stevie was singing on this. Man, time flies so fast.
priceless, Californian girls are the greatest in the world, each one a song in the making !
beautiful woman who has devoted her life to music....
She sure did .
She has said that is why she never married.
I'm sure their were offers.
I can look and listen to Stevie forever she,s the California girl
I was 12 when this came out... Adore Stevie
I was 13.
@@MusicFan1977 So was I
Was 14.
Flash In The Pan is a name that I haven't heard since high school. Came right back to me though. Wow.
How I miss him . . .
Kingston Trio
@@johnmatanes3135 So? Your point?
@@imoldgreggboosh3467 songwriter for the Kingston Trio in the 60s so obviously not a one hit wonder....he's credited for the guitar riffs in that song even though Lindsay Buckingham also collaborated...sounds a lot like LB
She just can't take a bad picture.
She cant sing a bad song either
But it's John Stewart's song tho@@peteguard3571
I have driven over kanan ca. Singing this song. 😮🇺🇦
@@DavidMoore-co2ze Kanan is a road that connects the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu wih the Ventura (101) Freeway in Agoura. It winds its way through the Santa Monica Mountains and is the route alot of us kids took to go to the beach back in the 70's and 80's.
Next time I am in LA, I am making this drive, listening to this song
Great tune, brings me back to summer 79.
Listening in 2024 Great memories!
I was in high school when this came out . It was a HUGE AM Radio hit here in Chicago (really one of the last ones on WLS).
I was about 9 but I remember it.
That story is soo hetero.
Yes, it was. Grew up listening to WLS.
John Stewart wrote Daydream believer, which was a number one hit for the Monkees in 1967 and a number three hit for Anne Murray in 1979. He also wrote Runaway train, a number one county hit for Roseanne Cash in 1988.
Wow, that's amazing, never knew. I think lots of one hit wonders had songs behind the scenes. Would love to hear him sing daydream believer by the way :D
Brilliant
And a member of The Kingston Trio!
@@jacknewman9256 It's on his 1971 album "The Lonesome Picker Rides Again."
Stevie Nick's is one great vocalist and song writer.
She didn't write this....
I heard this today on my Apple Radio station and I thank God for music algorithms 🙏
People out there , turning their music into gold . Absolutely in the 70’s they were . Writing their own music and singing them. No computers etc make them sound great . Raw pure talent
Haven't heard this song in it's entirety in since it was on the radio. Every once in a while it just pops in my mind for some odd reason. Bever knew who the actual artist was until now. I still hear Stevie Nick's voice. She has true passion for music and you could hear it in the voice. Glad I looked the up the song
Where's John Stewart in the picture show? It's his song after all. lol
It's my version of Where's Waldo. If you take a look at my channel, you will see it features Stevie Nicks, hence the focus. In subsequent Stevie duets (like WheneverI Call You Friend), I have been more even with the photos selected.
The puppet masters want him to "disappear"
One of the best one hit wonders of 1979 but you need the whole story. John Stewart was a member of the Kingston Trio before leaving and going out on his own. I have the original 45 rpm record. Won a contest bet with this info. Great song. Thx for the clip.
I knew that also, Jon had great song writing skills.
I heard this jewel by 1979 , long time ago
To bad no video for this would of liked to see them doing this together Stevie drives me crazy luv her her voice is in forgettable memorable and she ain't to bad lookin either she,s a classy chick
I use to love Stevie nicks, but she is responsible for the demise of Fleetwood Mac. Refusing to do one last lp with Mac,this turning it into Buckingham mcvie lp. She also got Lindsey Buckingham fired from the band. Christine mcvie is dead. My heart breaking 😢 Fleetwood Mac was always my number 1 band. I loved you my whole life, thank you Fleetwood Mac 😢
SHE IS TRUE EARTH GODDESS
Stevie oh Stevie that voice
close your eyes and just listen
Note to all Stevie Nicks is not doing backup. She is a guest star requested to sing along with this song! The compilation of photographs with this song is courtesy of Dean L
Great guitar solo I thought it was done by Lindsey Buckingham but it was actually John playing this!
I loved this song then and love it now. It took me forever to find out, “Yes actually Stevie Nicks did sing on that song!” Lol
Me too! I also love Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks and their mystical sounding rock songs and Stevies mystical like voice as well. Always loved this song, Stevie Nicks, and Fleetwood Mac since i first heard of them all when i was a little child.
Haha, same!
I love John Stewart singing background vocals on this Stevie Nicks hit!
😉🤘
This was John Stewart’s song. I think Lindsey also plays guitar on it.
O plllease
Hahaha
I think you got that backwards
Stevie Nicks = WOWZER!!!
Oh yah Stewart was no fool get Stevie back up vocals , and then the lights go down in a California town
Love driving over Kanaan/Dume road~
32 yrs old and she my favorite got her name tattoo on my chest
Your delusional
Why?
Love this song, hadn't heard it in a long time, just heard it on radio and looked it up here!
Awesome song for Stevie Nicks and John Stewart...guessing 1979...she has a dynamic range and has influenced many...she's a gem ...this song is also a gem
Great song , love the beat ,
Lots of great memories!
Love Stevie Nicks
Miss Nick's could be the the ugliest woman in the world. Which she is definitely not. Had a crush on her voice since I was 13. Her beauty came later. I love Her
Nicks
I agree with you Mark Yac!! For real.....and Stevie is my girl! Love her to pieces but she's not the only one singing this one!!
It was Stevie that made FM a super group, she is one talented lady
Well each member was talented in their own right and compositions. It was Stevie's voice, instantly recognizable even on all the various collaborations with other artists, that set the group apart, her compositions notwithstanding.
Class Of 2021 GOLD
This song calls me to listen and remember. California girls are the greatest in the world. Peace to all my sisters and brothers. God Bless America!!!🇺🇸
Peace to you too from Australia (communist Australia)
Stevie's out there turning vocal's into gold
I think that was turning vocals into coke, wasn't it?
Been Years since I heard this and it comes back quickly and strong !!
Finally found this song thanks r
Stevie Nicks was 10/10 sexy and beautiful for over 30 years, as this photo collage proves! Fans were drawn to Fleetwood Mac by Stevie's beauty, and then stayed because of the great music [including Stevie's vocals].
