Yea and that was just one of the run of the mill pop songs that we took for granted back then. Like they were going to keep coming and getting better. By the late 70s analogue was sounding so damn good.

It's a fair point but if you look at my channel, it's fairly Stevie-dominated/focused. I was highlighting her contribution to the song, because I love her voice. That said, most of the YT videos for the song that I have seen do not seem to have pictures of John Stewart, usually just lyrics. I may have to do a John Stewart video at some point.

@@markyac I know that he was also in the Kingston trio But Buckingham played lead and Nick's did back up vocals on that album and they had Nick's background vocals loud so you could clearly hear her Stewart knew putting these two on this album would give him a hit and it did I don't understand how he got Buckingham and Nick's to work on that album together seen there was some bad blood between them at the time This album was after the rumors album I also think Mick Fleetwood Made a guest appearance on this album I could be wrong but you had Stewart lead Vocals guitars Lindsey Buckingham guitars Stevie Nick's background vocals I don't know who played bass or who played drums But I'm not knocking John Stewart at all he actually made a smart move adding Buckingham and Nick's to this album Gold was the biggest tune on it and you can hear Buckingham's lead guitar and Nick's voice on it and yes Stewart also played some lead guitar on the album too as well as lead vocals sorry I rambled but I just wanted to let you know about these sessions I don't know everything and you probably know more about Mr Stewart but I figure I would tell you what I know anyways Have A Great Day Sir

ONE BIG ANSWER: GREED! Instead of a president, we now elect a Financial Leader... someone to decide how our tax dollars are to be wasted! Prices began to skyrocket in the late 70s and 1980s, bacause workers wanted paid more, investors wanted more return on the money and CEOs were suddenly being paid MILLIONS of dollars per year!
.... Instead of putting the USA First in everything, our tax dollars began going overseas! Foreign Workers began pouring into the US and senring 95% of their earningd home, instead of spending it Here! That's why the US Dollar is now the world's main currency!
.... GREED sent millions of good paying US Jobs to countries where workers are paid in pennies! I remember how sad I felt when I saw a photo of "The LAST U.S. Made Television", at the Zenith Electronics plant! The US now has few "true manufacturing" jobs that don't involve the harvesting of our Natural Resources! We now cut our trees and send the lumber to other countries to be made into furniture, which is sold back to us! HOW can it be cheaper to send lumber around the world, than to make furniture here? The same ideal applies to metals, glass and plastics! These and others ideals have changed our country and not for the better!
..... Immorality has been a mainstream issue for several decades! Remembering when you couldn't say "Damn" on TV? Now you can say nearly anything you want, EXCEPT for "God snd Jesus"! I often see movie scenes where those two words are bleeped or silenced! We WORRY about offending those whom hate us.... how stupid is that?
.... Let's BUY U.S. and bring our jobs home! Let's worry more about us, instead of the poor people of Country X! Let's stop bleeding our economy by allowing Billions to be sent overseas every year! Let's stop the flood of illegals, pouring across our border and stop supporting those that are here already! Let's make the USA Number One on our list again!

@@jamesbaird8574 This was well after Stevie was established. It came out after the white Fleetwood Mac album and Rumours in the same year as Tusk (1979). Unless you are talking outside of Fleetwood Mac. Even then, Walter Egan's Magnet and Steel with Stevie was a hit prior to this song. It does predate her solo albums though.

Wow...listening to these great songs during the pandemic, always loved this tune! Stevie's vocals added so much on this. So many good memories. Used to play it down in California when it came out. A friend of mine's band did a cover of it as well and had added an extended jam in the middle. Decided to add it to our version too-Am-F for awhile (ha ha) , just nice and tasteful in the beginning and built it into a nice climax. The audiences always seemed to dig it and it didn't detract from the song.

John Stewart made over 30 albums and wrote way over 300 songs. One hit wonder? He wrote "Daydream Believer" (no. 1 for Monkees), "Runnaway Train" (no. 1 for Roseanne Cash), and had 2 other top 40 hits himself. Also Billboard put his album "California Bloodlines" on one of their top 100 lists.
He had (and still does) a loyal 'cult' following. I went to 23 of his concerts in the 70s cause I couldn't get enough of his guitar work (in concert he would do long complex guitar solos that never appeared on his albums). He was a total axemaster.
      How I miss him . . .

Lots of great songs and shows in the 70s. I actually cried on new years eve in 79 because I things was changing and as I look back over the years I seen why our country is in the state that's its in today. Sad really.
