I bought this single as a 12 year old when it was first released. There’s a beautiful haunting aspect to it. John, Stevie and Lindsey made a great song ❤️
we had daughters first name picked out before she was born ,then i heard this song on radio one morning. instantly she had her middle name, Holly Maranda ! she's 40 years old now and still her daddy's girl.
I remember hearing this on the radio for the first time....I bought the 45 as soon as it came out. I still have it. I love this just as much in 2019 as I did in 1979.
"There are things that fly in the midnight wind, souls that cry in the midnight wind. And lovers do try in the midnight wind. You and I, in the midnight wind." Magic. Absolute magic from the pen of John Stewart
Droppin' in here after listenin' to Gold - and didn't really recognize this until it got to the chorus...and suddenly I realized I loved this song 40 years ago! And haven't heard it since. Damn...I love musical goosebumps.
Thank heaven for October and November 1979, when Midnight Wind was popular. Personally speaking, they were monumentally phenomenal months. Replace 'Miranda' with Juanita, Roxanne, Terry, whosoever. There's nothing quite like this song.
La primera vez que la escuche tenia 11 años En 1979, nunca mas la volvi a escuchar, Pero la encontre nuevamente hace 1 año Hoy tengo 52 años Es de esas canciones que te traen recuerdos de niñez y te eriza la piel
it's spring 1983,me and my wife were expecting our first child.we wanted a girl.we had her first name picked out about three months before she was born ''Holly''.one morning as i hit the light switch on a the dairy barn [it turned the radio on at the same time] this song was playing, five seconds after i hit the light switch the words ''come on down ''Maranda'' is what i heard. THAT'S WHEN I KNEW WHAT HER MIDDLE NAME WAS GOING TO BE! HOLLY MARANDA OLSON.She'll be 39 may 30 first 2022.
My sons name is Cody, we were inspired by Johns music and magic. He has grown to be a fabulous man and will be 42 this year. We thank John for his everlasting contribution to our life.
Has this anything to do with Tufa lore? It was written and performed years before the series came out . We named our daughter after this song. She is a free spirit that we love very much. What's the JS connection ? He was a member of The Kingston Trio . Dig into it if you want to. I did !!!
Now I don't want to knock anyone who made a comeback in music and give Mr. Stewart all the props he deserves. Having said that, is it me or does he sort of sound like "Mr.Ed?"
I didn’t expect to hear my name in this song 😂 I just came here because I like the song Gold
This is a great song I remember it well. But God on the cover he looks just like Garry Shandling
Exactly 😂
I named a cat Miranda because of this song. Had her 18 years 2003-2020
That's way cool.
I named my daughter miranda because of this song
I bought this single as a 12 year old when it was first released. There’s a beautiful haunting aspect to it. John, Stevie and Lindsey made a great song ❤️
I have that single, too.
Wow, I never knew this was released as a single. My dad had the album. I spun it a bunch.
I knew John and Stevie were on this obviously, but didn't realize Lindsey was also! Dang.
It sounds like a Fleetwood Mac song
That is not Lindsay
John, Lindsey and Stevie. Perfect trio.
Always love Stevies haunting vocals 😊
I'm 49 and still a restless soul in the midnight wind!
I listen to this song and remember the midnight wind that blew during the Summer/Fall of 1979. Memories…
Great all-time album titles- BOMBS AWAY DREAM BABIES!
Now days many of these old songs bring me to tears. This one wasn't around as long as "Gold" so memories of it during that fall of 1979 are precious.
Was looking for Gold and came across Lost Her in the Sun and this one. Add one more fan for John Stewart.
One of the .most beautiful songs ever. I used to cruse all night playing this over and over. Just getting lost and finding myself.
Man this was a great song

Still have mine too.
Stevie makes every song she sings in a magical musical journey. God blessed her for sure.
John Stewart is great singer & guitar player.
Awesome song! Love the mysticalness of song!
Was only 15 when this single was released in 1979. Ironically, the guy I was involved with at the time, just passed away in August 2022.

A little gem, even better than Gold. ♡
Yes, I am hearing this is a great song, Stevie adds the magic to the song.
Ummm...yup !!!!!
Timeless song. Like Gold is too.
Sure wish the estate would release the album on iTunes
I'm named after this song....rest in heaven dad 💔😭😞
1979 was John's breakout year. Great pairing with Stevie Nicks, who did this with many other artists as well.
Bob Welch for one ('Ebony Eyes'). Ironically she and Lindsey joined Fleetwood Mac when he left.
Happy Birthday John 🥳

There's nothing quite like this song.
God, I love this song!
Oh my God what a great song.
Stevie's vocals come out so clearly. I don't remember this though.
it was sorta eclipsed by the single Gold.
I don't remember this either, but I love Gold.
Yep! It's Stevie!
I liked this song better than Gold, but it didn't get much air time.
Me too!
Me too
Agreed, this song was the best IMHO, Lost Her in the Sun second ....
I agree and I'm still furious with TB
It had some airplay on French Radios.. We heard it more than Gold. I rememember that.
So energetic with Buckingham Nicks which is a fantastic album
All I can say is wow
Classic. John Stewart. Stevie Nick's and lindsey Buckingham.
Man..Its Just Magical
Its a "Big Song" from a big time that will never be reproduced. We had so much freedom then.
La primera vez que la escuche tenia 11 años

Pero la encontre nuevamente hace 1 año
Hoy tengo
52 años
Es de esas canciones que te traen recuerdos de niñez y te eriza la piel
Great song!
Great tune -- reminiscent of Jefferson Starship in the mid to late '70s!
I was thinking the same thing.
Stevie Nicks backing vocals. Just supreme ya and Buckingham.
come on down...been so lonely
Had this album, awesome was 25 at the time
One of his best, and Fleetwood Mac, Stevie (and Buffy I think) backing him up...
Buffy?Saint Marie?
@@larciabella Buffy Ford, John's wife
Stevie Nicks ❤️
thank you
John Stewart

It's spelled Miranda.

yep :)
Yes it is
And Lindsay Buckingham - he produced the album. Also here them on the 10 ten single, "Gold"
Yeah, you hear them, too.
I dare say all of Fleetwood Mac is on this.
got to order this cd today!!
all of the things that we are afraid to talk about...a dying species, unworthy of this glorious universe.
I dare say Christine Mcvie on keyboards. Uncredited

so I can see it in your eyes
oh my god
Solid track 🎶🎵🎼❤
Is it the Stivie Nicks voice I hear behind ?
Oh yes!
If you like this checkout Mike Oldfield's "Moonlight Shadow" from live Art in Heaven Berlin Concert with Miriam Stockley!
My namesake according to my parents 😊
Cool, how about Shakespeares The Tempest. Miranda is the main character.
I found this song for his other on the Smokey and the bandit 3 soundtrack
I wish they'd reissue this album. It's not available in the UK.
I hate that none of these can be streamed on Apple Music or tidal
canada's gordon lightfoot--america's john stewart national treasures!!!
Not on Spotify!

I have this made into Karaoke version, so 8 can sing it along with Gold.!! My wife likes Midnight Wind better.!

It's you. John Stewart sounds like John Stewart.
He needed a song writer .
I had midnight wind once, the wife didn't like it
