I was listening to "Hippie Radio" here in Nashville last week and this song came on and It's been in my head ever since. Even in the middle of the night when I have to get up and pee, this song is going through my head while I'm peeing. This kind of thing happens with me. I get obsessed with a certain song and it stays on my mind for weeks at a time. Last summer it was "Help Me" by Joni Mitchell that I heard on the radio one day last June. I immediately went on UA-cam and found some videos of Joni doing "Help Me" and everyday for several months, I had to get on the tube and watch Joni do it. I just got past that obsession, and now here is John Stewart getting me obsessed with "Gold."
This song was part of the soundtrack of my childhood and you nailed it's spirit spot on. I clicked like in the first 3 or four images. Thank you for posting.
I hit the road in 1979, and I heard this song on the radio when I traveled cross-country. Thank you so much, it brought back some good memories from this California Girl!
One of the greatest late 1970s songs. I admit to being a pothead and druggie at the time this song was often played during my foolish episodes. Am not justifying my behavior at the time, but this song evokes memories of a time in my life when I had fewer worries and responsibilities. Plus my Mom was alive at the time, and I miss her dearly.
I was today years old when I learned that this wasn't a Fleetwood Mac song. Today I am 63 years old. I must also admit that before today I'd never even heard of John Stewart (the musician, not the comedian).
Cool thing is I heard this song while getting gas. And pulled into the gas station right at 2:55. It was a cool moment in life and I write this as I am about to shower too. This song hits real right now. Also Stevie Nicks in the background was pretty awesome.
This song makes me wish my BMW was a convertible because this is the type of song that you have blaring from the car stereo on a warm summers evening as your cruising through LA and Hollywood! And yes "California girls are the greatest in the world" I know, I'm one of them! =)
Was reading an article about Stewart, and it stated that he stopped performing this song. I guess it wasn't cool with the music people he was hanging around . Sometimes, a musician's ego gets in the way of a good song. My opinion this is a good song. Shalom

Just got reintroduced to this song today..I love this song...hadn't heard it in 20 or so years..I had no idea Fleetwood Mac members helped out..but now I know why I loved it..I LOVE Fleetwood Mac..always have..Stevie singing..Lindsey on guitar..Oh yeah..BTW the Solid Gold version is freakin HOT!..
harley Johnson. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks hadn't met Mick Fleetwood by then.
@@edwardmiller3110: Actually they had met Mick by then. The Fleetwood Mac LP "Tusk" was released probably near the time of "Gold." Lindsey and Stevie would have been in Fleetwood Mac about five years by then.
Thank you for posting.
its . . . (it's = it is)
I hit the road in 1979, and I heard this song on the radio when I traveled cross-country.
God bless you.
We all navigate our path.
Damn Right! I miss the 70s and pets and people so much!
Remember listening to this in my buddy's van as we were heading for Salisbury Beach Massachusetts summer of '79 !!!
boy, I remember playing that 45rpm over and over again...lol
Hi Jmm8899 very cool post about this 45rpm I had the 45rpm single as well!!!! from South Louisiana.
The album was given to me... on an 8-track.
Yes sir
@@PanamaCityLive awesome from Fox Creek Alberta Canada
I was today years old when I learned that this wasn't a Fleetwood Mac song. Today I am 63 years old. I must also admit that before today I'd never even heard of John Stewart (the musician, not the comedian).
Was living in LA when this song was out. It, more than any song of that period, always takes me back there. Hauntingly cool.
Great song I like the music in this song brings back memories of my past
Cool thing is I heard this song while getting gas. And pulled into the gas station right at 2:55. It was a cool moment in life and I write this as I am about to shower too. This song hits real right now. Also Stevie Nicks in the background was pretty awesome.
I remember when this song came out on the radio back in the 70s
This song makes me wish my BMW was a convertible because this is the type of song that you have blaring from the car stereo on a warm summers evening as your cruising through LA and Hollywood! And yes "California girls are the greatest in the world" I know, I'm one of them! =)
Pennsylvania & Midwest women are great too, plus Central new york, I know a few up here
Was reading an article about Stewart, and it stated that he stopped performing this song. I guess it wasn't cool with the music people he was hanging around . Sometimes, a musician's ego gets in the way of a good song. My opinion this is a good song. Shalom
This is when music was music❤
I remember driveing accross the country from Phila Pa on Pacific high way along the coast lesson to this song took all the way too San Fan great trip
Haven't heard this in a long time. I remember why this is such an epic song 💯❤️

SweetManilaRose, or whoever, thanks for this video! I remember when this first was a hit, at the time I didn’t know who John Stewart was. Former member of the Kingston Trio, a wonderful musician! RIP, John Stewart, we thank you!
There's people out there turning music into gold........

Ahh, summer of 1979. Just got my drivers license and remember driving through the small California town rocking to this tune.
