Travis, how did you come up with the FisOfHex moniker.More importantly,I have heard from more than a few sources that Bumblebee snails will eat Vermitide snails (sp?).Never tried it myself wrasses must have killed any I have ever had or?Stay well and enjoy life my friend.Bret
Travis with all your experience are you able to know which corals can be next to each other and know when to frag down large colonies before they start to shade themselves out and go bad from base up?. You have years of experience, and documentation you can probably develop a database of who can be put next to whom.
Agreed on staying away from the encrusting montis, after having to start over on my 125 I'm giving more thought on coral that spread out across the rock, and zoas aren't really an option now that we have a bannerfish as it'll possibly eat them. Our tank is still a FOWLR but will be adding coral soon. I hate vermetid snails, they're half the reason I started our tank over, impossible to get rid of them once the rock is completely infested with them. Ended up getting rid of all the coral, dried out the rock in the sun, cured it, then done a permanent aquascape like I always wanted. We lost a lot, but in the long run will gain so much more.
Hey man! I have been watching your channel for at least a year now, and it has been really helpful to my learning process about keeping reef tanks. I am getting my first saltwater tank set up over these next few months ill be getting things slowly set up. I got a good deal on a tank and now I am going to be building a stand and sump system. I am so excited! :)
Meagan Brink hay I’m so glad you have done your research before u buy a tank this will stand u in a great path to success and just by the preparation u have endured u will be in the top 25% of happy saltwater reefers I guarantee
I really feel you on this video. As much as I love some of my corals I just cannot do some of them in my new build. I'm a bit more forgiving though. I will take my cabbage leather and my flower anemone. I have had them for 21 years. Two of the first corals I ever bought and they have moved across the state and been in 9 systems.
Have you done a coral placement video? It would be helpful to know your opinion on how far corals should be apart and depending on growth patterns and light/flow demands, whats a good place on the rock to glue the frag... stuff like that.
I think you might have a problem with zoanthids when your SPS frags are small, however if your acropora colony is reaching a fist-size I can't imagine zoanthids crawling up the coral.

Nice vid Travis
What are those green corals? :O
Pyramid base rocks and tripod shelf rock platforms?.
Any way to give a quick run down of some of the fish in the tank? I see a lot of different tangs, but the fish in there are just beautiful.
my favourite tank is the 40 gallon

Thanks for the info man!

Well in my 20 gallon aquarium palythoa are controlled by aiptasia X because they are anemon after all. I'm pretty sure it would work on zoantus too.

Massive zoa colonies are bad when you have pinkie sized frags, giant tangs are bad when your tank is to small for them; genius.
You can use a Dremmel under water?
Can you please give us a picture of this all regret things in vid.. not all we know that..
Couldn't you use the aiptasia x with the needle and kill the zoas around those acros?
What’s the dimensions of the tank for the 1000 gallon build
It you want to get rid of your Zoa's, Regal Angelfish, love them and they like eating Zoa's.
What camera u use travis 😁😁😁
I mean...just surround all panes of glass with XR30s...boom! No more shading
Great video and look at how the system looks currently. I see blue is still teasing the Foxface...lol
I know this video is a bit older. I guess you decide not to move and not to set-up a 1000 gallon?
Not yet. Once I buy a new house it will be in the works depending on layout
@FishOfHex thank you for the response. Enjoy the channel. Keep going please.
Will you keep it even with the new build in the future
🙏🤘

Who is building the new tank for you?
No LPS, man, a tank with no movement besides fish sounds kinda stale.
I hope everyone knows this video is fake news. That’s really a 55g Petco tank!
