Hummingbirds are amazing! First, they are so tiny and cute! Second, they are so incredibly fast that its mind boggling! How they developed that speed is beyond me! I saw a Hummingbird twice up close! The first time I heard this buzzing noise and got scared thinking it was a huge bumblebee or flying insect! I didn’t know what it was at first. Then it dawned on me it was a Hummingbird! And he was going from flower to flower on this bush that was close to where I parked! I wish I could have recorded it but I didn’t have my cellphone within reach so I sat in my car with the window open just watching it for about 5 minutes! And I thought, what an amazing Bird! How did evolution or Mother Nature create such a creature that moves that fast? I was flabbergasted watching this tiny bird fly and dart around! Just an Amazing experience!
We lived in Tucson AZ for 15 years, and there are always several species around to enjoy. At the ASDM I learned how to make clear - no dye - nectar. Fill you feeder, and sit back and watch the drama. Beautiful birds, and very territorial, and aggressive. I was "warned" away from a feeder I was hanging 😺 By a tiny bird no bigger than my thumb! Priceless.
I really love birds, I hope our generations can still see the beauty of natural birds like we do now, hoping that human consciousness to look after them is higher
New Atlantis The hummingbird is soo amazing God's beautiful creature for us humans to enjoy soo pretty and awesome and interesting. Thanks for the video God bless.
Greetings from Central coast California!! We recently began to regularly provide sugar water for the local Hummingbirds. They come to our home everyday. We use four cups of clean water and mix in one cup of granulated sugar. These creatures eat eat and eat. My daughters love to watch them as they buzz around and chase eat other away. as they are territorial to the 10th power. One time my oldest daughter said she saw 3 of them in a row....of course chasing each other away. My only regret is that we didnt start feeding them sooner. They bring extra joy in my family. Amazing creatures!!!
just sit REALLY still by the feeder and put your finger right under the little flower on the feeder, Keep it there and eventually they will perch on it, just be still and quiet. I have had hummingbirds sit on my hand. I just takes patience. I love them, little flying jewels
I love hummingbirds. I put one feeder out every Spring and they come back every year. They seen to bring more every time they come back. I enjoy looking at them. They sit on my plants or the rail next to me they have gotten so tame that in the mornings they be perched on the rails waiting for a fill up. Its so cute. They're gone now. I'll be waiting for them next year.
Humming bird don't fly away, fly away. The sweetness of your necture has drawn me like a fly. I just love you, love you, love you. Don't even know the reason why.
Thanks SO much for quoting the lines to that beautiful Seals & Croft’s song I’d forgotten about for way too long...looked it up and played it right after I finished watching this video - was always one of my favorites from so long ago. Yet another reason to miss the 70’s.....☺️🎶
Plant some hummingbirds plants that they like in your garden, for Bees and Butterflies, and they all will come visiting you. Avoid any Pestizides and Herbizids though.
This reminds me so much of my cousin Dorothy Lancester's home in San Jose Costa Rica, when I visited in 1977; her house was an old fashioned single storey, wooden , if I recall right, Victorian house, which when built had probably been been well out of town. Then she was surrounded by houses; but her garden was a treat; she was an orchid grower, of repute; and the garden lived for flowers and, so for hummingbirds
I use clear sugar water. I put a fishing bobber to see level. Once I just hung up the feeder. I stepped back about a foot. In came a bird. it feed on the far side first. As it feed. It kept leaning over and looking at me. it did this about 6 times. The it flew to me. it stopped about 2 inches from my nose. it hoovered and but 15 seconds. Then it flew around to my left ear. Then it returned to my nose. It then flew around to my right ear. Again returned to my nose. it did exactly the same thing again. Then it returned to the feeder. Again it landed on the far side from me. Then it looked around on the left side at me. it feed. Then it looked around on the right side at me. Then it flew away. My smile was a mile wide.
Marry Ellen Have had the same thing happen! It was a female Ruby Throated. She soon would sit next to my hand and feed....then rest, checking me out the whole time. Once had a male wash himself in the water of a hose I was holding...he flew to the base of the water flow....at the ground....placed his belly in the spray...and then flew along the spray up to my hand which held the nozzle. He did this three times, while I stood watching , still as a statue, in amazement. His belly was clean and shiny! He then flew straight upward, doing the 360 degree Hummerscan around me....and flew away. He left that day for the South. I figured he said “thanks” as he headed off until next year. Love these birds....feisty and friendly and bring sunshine into the lives of those who commune with them.
Still amazed that these are real birds after all these years. Everything about them feels like it's made up, but there was one that loved my mom's hibiscus when we would put it in the backyard for the summer. You see them move and equate their flight with things like dragonflies, but they have more in common with Eagles than insects. That's why nature will always remain fascinating.

I am watching a ruby throated hummer...He showed up with Phoenix hitting 96 degrees...sad ....He probably will not make it tonight...We are 39 degrees going down to 28...with a wind chill decreasing...that lower...He is one of our returning birds...He buzzed our front window until he got our attention...frantically....Either he migrated too early or was lifted “off course” by the warm up drafts...... to our mountainous “rim”.... above the salt river....It will be a miracle if this solitary bird “makes it”.....Wild cats have been known to sit...on the heater stacks on the roofs along the “rim”...A photographer in the Payson Roundup captured one such cat sleeping on top of a covered vent pipe on such a rooftop and it made the front page some ten years ago!.....
We used to live on 20 acres and we had four different types of Woodpeckers,at least a dozen Hummingbirds, and one huge Barn Owl that scared the hell out of us. One night driving down our road into our property the Owl flew right at our car and his or her wing span looked as wide as our car. We just about jumped out of the car.Scary until we realized what it was. Hummingbirds are a wonder to watch as they move right, left,up,down and sometimes straight at you and stop an inch or less from your face. Just beautiful.

Amazing to see these miniture powerhouses in flight. But why oh why the unnecessary and intrusive music throughout the video!? I'd much rather listen to the sound of those little wings and the other ambient sounds of nature.
There is a reason all nature videos have separate sound tracks. The cameras can zoom miles into what they are looking at but there is no sound zoom technology. Most sounds you ever hear on wildlife shows are separately recorded sounds that make sense to what you are seeing since rarely they are able to film wildlife close enough to record it at a loud enough quality for viewing pleasure. I wished I could hear the birds too.
