Once I had the honor of saving a trapped hummingbird in my house. I had to catch him with my bare hands so I wouldn't hurt him. It was the most marvelous experience I've ever had. The details on his structure, the iridescence and bright colors of his feathers, the intense heart beating feeling through my fingers. They are absolutely beautiful that close, even so that words are not enough to describe.
That wasn't just any date! It was their 2 day anniversary. To an insect, they were basically celebrating being together 50 years. She was his everything. His soul mate. And she was taken from him too soon. RIP insects wife. We will remember you fondly. She was a lover of fine wines and long flights along the tree.
Ted Ed have outdone themselves in this beautiful video. Filled with beautiful animation, a hilarious meme reference (3:08), and of course really interesting information.
the art style in this video is very simple yet has a strong meaning to every character, the personality. And this actually helps in understanding the concept better. Love the art style hoping to see it in the future videos
Hummingbirds' metabolic rate is so fast, because of having to flap their wings so much, that they are eight hours away from starving to death at any given moment (when they are awake)
Ever since I saw a Hummingbird come to my backyard, I've been super impressed with these innocent cute birds. I bought a feeder and now more come for feeding and fly away and zip so fast. I think they have a nest up about 20ft up a tree and come by daily. Lovely creatures
As always love the animation, but the final line on this video about them being the messenger of the Aztec god of war, and that strength can come in small sizes... Top notch writing right there.
My mom's favorite. Overly Sarcastic Productions: But there is a ray of sunshine in all this. If you're an Aztec warrior and end up dead, you get to turn into a hummingbird. Ah, that's cute.
My husband and I started putting hummingbird feeders out in 2019. We are obsessed with these little miracles! So much fun. For anyone wanting to start, a big piece of advice is change the nectar frequently in the summer months, and get an ant moat so the ants don't go in and spoil the nectar.
The way the hummingbirds were duelling is now one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a Ted-Ed video.

THIS is how you do educational videos right, goofy visuals and a serious narrator and script.
Its amazing how many other channels do it backwards
You should check out the channel that makes True Facts. THAT is hilarious
Serious voices over silly stuff is funny. Like imagine Attenborough reading a Sam O Nella script.

But there’s a reason why they’re so low tier in Outside. I know that they are extremely fast, but their stamina is SOOOOO quickly emptied.
