Things like their online features being extremely lacking and while still charging a subscription fee screams of old business suits looking at market trends. Nintendo needs a "loud American" who can get in near the ears at the top and isn't constrained by being within the Japanese culture of: "my superior and or senior is not to be questioned".

They had potential with halo but just fumbled so hard, 4 wasn’t bad there was definitely setup there then 5 came and soured everyone’s taste and infinite was alright but single player campaign was a big mistake especially for halo to that no dlc story announced also sucks

The fact that 343 has released like 4 straight Halo games, literally Xboxs flagship franchise, and all of them have been a downgrade yet Microsoft refuses to do anything about it clearly shows that they do not care at all about the quality of what's being produced. Having a million studios worth a trillion dollars won't make up for terrible management. Microsoft could've solved their first party games problem a decade ago by actually managing their existing studios properly.
Nintendo has its own market. And honestly the war between PS and Xbox is so one-sided at this point that I don't think it can even be considered a war right now.
Because people are insecure and want to feel confident about their purchase. Also, competition, which is admittedly good for consumers. With Xbox basically out of the race, Nintendo and Sony doing their own things not really competing with each other, competition is essentially non-existent now. I think console wars CAN be a good thing. Don't get me wrong, a lot of people take it way, WAY to seriously, but competition is good, and the console wars were nothing more than intense competition. With the console wars effectively over (Sony and Nintendo doing their own things not competing with each other and Microsoft dropping the ball constantly), I'm worried that consoles and first party games won't be heavy hitters anymore. I'm just glad that it doesn't seem like Sony or Nintendo are lowering their standards just because the competition is essentially gone, and I REALLY hope Microsoft gets it together and pumps out some true bangers so competition returns.

I thought people complained for years that exclusives were the worst and that we should be able to play any game on any platform. Now that Microsoft has nearly done that (whether intentional or not) they are being punished for not having exclusives. The consoles are virtually the same, like comparing two PCs with similiar hardware, but the Xbox hardware is clocked slightly higher with slightly more storage. The biggest deciding factor should be the software now, as in the UI, stores, and online experience.

Consumers: "Exclusives are bad, I should be able to play games wherever I want" Xbox: "Ok, we'll focus on Gamepass and Cloud so that you can play our games anywhere" PlayStation: "We'll dial back how many Exclusives we release every year" Consumers: "Fuck Microsoft, Fuck PlayStation, they have no games" It doesn't really matter if they dialed back on Exclusives by choice, or by necessity, people still got what they wanted. It's honestly the same with Crossplay. Everyone begged for Crossplay, but when they finally got it everyone complained about certain platforms having different advantages. You just can't please anyone.

I do agree Microsoft owned game studios haven't put out good games in a while opposed to some decent hitters from PlayStation. But its like arguing AMD vs Nvidia on PC, but instead of focusing on the hardware and software (freesync vs gsync) your only focusing on the games they can or can't play, when they should all just play the same games. The only one that has a slight argument is Nintendo since they make most of their games in-house and their hardware can't effectively run most other games.

Reason why series X games look worse than ps5 version is because, games must made first for series S as base standar console then upscale it to series X. Not series X first then scaledown for series S like most xbox fanboy believe. That is wrong! Microsoft themself confirm that series S is standard model and series X is mid gen refresh. For example you cannot make games for ps4 pro first then downscale it for ps4 base model. That is not how it work! So, games that you play on series X are basically series S games witn enhanced resolution and frame rate. Series S/X concept is even worse than xbox one and one x concept. Because developers are forced to release two version of the same games at same time for series S and X. That is spend lot of time and cost more. Not like xbox one and one x era where developers are not forced to release one X version of the games at same time. So developers have more time to optimize the games.
Sony only won cause they made their system quote on quote limited and the fact they lost and Nintendo backed Microsoft’s acquisition also helped them get Activision now that Microsoft has all the studios hopefully they make quality exclusives

only reason to buy a xbox is its cheaper than a pc, and only reason to buy ps5 is the 2 exclusives they have. sony is porting a lot of their exclusives to pc like ratchet and clank, and god of war, so that might not last long either. a lot of recent games are great but there hasn't been any good multiplayer games recently, and some of my most fond memories are playing fortnite and csgo with the boys. I do definitely think gaming is in a bad spot rn.

Microsoft signed a deal with Nintendo to release call of duty for the switch so I could see them making a pivot and dropping a handheld it would probably be trash but it wouldn't surprise me if they did think that handheld gaming will be a big thing in the future I can see a 60fps handheld coming soon

I have a high end pc and bought an Xbox just to couch game. Plus it’s just way less of a hassle than pc. As someone who works all the time and has a family I don’t have time to fuxk around with pc just to play a game

It's important to remember that Phil Spencer was admitting defeat during the acquisition trial for Activision Blizzard. If he looks humble perhaps the judge would be more likely to side with him. Getting a XBO is one of my biggest regret purchases, no exclusives that are worthwhile and no backwards compatibility besides the few you can download on the store.
Essentially yeah. They've dug themselves into such a deep hole they literally can't compete unless they simply force gamers onto their platform by buying every popular IP. This was a situation they could've easily avoided had they just made better games. Kinda dumb that them running Halo, Gears, and all of their other franchises into the ground is somehow turned into an excuse to buy out competitors. Should be more of a reason to prevent them from buying other companies.
I disagree, i think this generation has been pretty good, at least for Sony (not counting Nintendo since thats last gen). Sure, a lot of their good games are also on PS4, but most of the games i have are PS exclusive and I've personally had a blast playing all of them (I count I think 10 PS exclusives I've loved this generation). May or may not seem like a lot, but i work full time and dont have a ton of time to play games, so this amount is perfect for me :)
Microsoft is where IP goes to die. They buy these studios for their existing games and never make new games. Like all the Rareware IP. We got Nuts and Bolts which wasn't even really a Banjo game. They just themed it as a Banjo Game. It could have just as easily been any other characters.

I just never cared for Sonys games and their stance on censorship when even Nintendo won’t censor some games that release on Sony (Doki doki literature club plus for example) just the fact I can take world at war and put it in my series X and play it is amazing and even Sony knows that, why would they do backwards compatibility for PS4 after not caring since the PS2/early PS3 models.
I own all 3 consoles but I find myself on Xbox most and there services. I dont even touch ps+ due to me playing singleplayer games like Spiderman, GoW, etc while I play everything else on Xbox, and then switch for Zelda, used to for pokémon but thats shit now...
even in the US due to the terrible ad campaign selling the console's camera, the ps3 was actually able to slightly surpass the xbox360 by the end of that generation

Tbh, without exclusives, the consoles will die out unless they are vastly cheaper than a PC or fill some kind of niche(would say handheld but now that's being threatened by the likes of Deck and Ally). Tbh, as much as I like the idea that everything should be available on all platforms, I think it'd actually be a negative on the industry. Consoles, even various computer systems back in the 80s-90s have exclusive video games and software or certain features/exclusive content etc that helped forge their identity(current PCs has many exclusives, same with android and IOS phones). Without this, you'll get less innovation and less options(options in my opinion, are good and needed for a healthy market). Basically, my thinking is there are two reasons why the older console generations and old computers(and current Nintendo consoles) were more exciting and felt better, 1 they were/are unique and distinct enough from a generic PC and 2 a big library of exclusive content which when these two points combine produce a brand identity that people can attach onto. Now obviously there are many other factors that go into it, but those two points imo are what makes things like the switch and the older console generations exciting and cool.

Having a million studios worth a trillion dollars won't make up for terrible management. Microsoft could've solved their first party games problem a decade ago by actually managing their existing studios properly.

With the console wars effectively over (Sony and Nintendo doing their own things not competing with each other and Microsoft dropping the ball constantly), I'm worried that consoles and first party games won't be heavy hitters anymore. I'm just glad that it doesn't seem like Sony or Nintendo are lowering their standards just because the competition is essentially gone, and I REALLY hope Microsoft gets it together and pumps out some true bangers so competition returns.

I thought people complained for years that exclusives were the worst and that we should be able to play any game on any platform. Now that Microsoft has nearly done that (whether intentional or not) they are being punished for not having exclusives. The consoles are virtually the same, like comparing two PCs with similiar hardware, but the Xbox hardware is clocked slightly higher with slightly more storage. The biggest deciding factor should be the software now, as in the UI, stores, and online experience.

Consumers: "Exclusives are bad, I should be able to play games wherever I want"
Xbox: "Ok, we'll focus on Gamepass and Cloud so that you can play our games anywhere"

I do agree Microsoft owned game studios haven't put out good games in a while opposed to some decent hitters from PlayStation. But its like arguing AMD vs Nvidia on PC, but instead of focusing on the hardware and software (freesync vs gsync) your only focusing on the games they can or can't play, when they should all just play the same games. The only one that has a slight argument is Nintendo since they make most of their games in-house and their hardware can't effectively run most other games.

Reason why series X games look worse than ps5 version is because, games must made first for series S as base standar console then upscale it to series X. Not series X first then scaledown for series S like most xbox fanboy believe. That is wrong!
Microsoft themself confirm that series S is standard model and series X is mid gen refresh.
For example you cannot make games for ps4 pro first then downscale it for ps4 base model. That is not how it work!
So, games that you play on series X are basically series S games witn enhanced resolution and frame rate.
Series S/X concept is even worse than xbox one and one x concept. Because developers are forced to release two version of the same games at same time for series S and X. That is spend lot of time and cost more.
Not like xbox one and one x era where developers are not forced to release one X version of the games at same time. So developers have more time to optimize the games.
Sony only won cause they made their system quote on quote limited and the fact they lost and Nintendo backed Microsoft’s acquisition also helped them get Activision now that Microsoft has all the studios hopefully they make quality exclusives

only reason to buy a xbox is its cheaper than a pc, and only reason to buy ps5 is the 2 exclusives they have. sony is porting a lot of their exclusives to pc like ratchet and clank, and god of war, so that might not last long either. a lot of recent games are great but there hasn't been any good multiplayer games recently, and some of my most fond memories are playing fortnite and csgo with the boys. I do definitely think gaming is in a bad spot rn.

PlayStation and Xbox are so different now. I have both consoles in my house and I can totally understand why people love the PlayStation 5, but you’ll never get a better backlog of game that are easier to play than Xbox. With the fps boost and auto HDR playing old game is never better.

I disagree, i think this generation has been pretty good, at least for Sony (not counting Nintendo since thats last gen). Sure, a lot of their good games are also on PS4, but most of the games i have are PS exclusive and I've personally had a blast playing all of them (I count I think 10 PS exclusives I've loved this generation). May or may not seem like a lot, but i work full time and dont have a ton of time to play games, so this amount is perfect for me :)

What I don't get about Xbox is that they bought studios but don't use them.
Microsoft is where IP goes to die. They buy these studios for their existing games and never make new games. Like all the Rareware IP. We got Nuts and Bolts which wasn't even really a Banjo game. They just themed it as a Banjo Game. It could have just as easily been any other characters.

I just never cared for Sonys games and their stance on censorship when even Nintendo won’t censor some games that release on Sony (Doki doki literature club plus for example) just the fact I can take world at war and put it in my series X and play it is amazing and even Sony knows that, why would they do backwards compatibility for PS4 after not caring since the PS2/early PS3 models.
I own all 3 consoles but I find myself on Xbox most and there services. I dont even touch ps+ due to me playing singleplayer games like Spiderman, GoW, etc while I play everything else on Xbox, and then switch for Zelda, used to for pokémon but thats shit now...

Consoles, even various computer systems back in the 80s-90s have exclusive video games and software or certain features/exclusive content etc that helped forge their identity(current PCs has many exclusives, same with android and IOS phones). Without this, you'll get less innovation and less options(options in my opinion, are good and needed for a healthy market). Basically, my thinking is there are two reasons why the older console generations and old computers(and current Nintendo consoles) were more exciting and felt better, 1 they were/are unique and distinct enough from a generic PC and 2 a big library of exclusive content which when these two points combine produce a brand identity that people can attach onto. Now obviously there are many other factors that go into it, but those two points imo are what makes things like the switch and the older console generations exciting and cool.
