@@angrjams7683 Im cautiosly excited. Hope to see Bungie have a fun take on the extraction shooter genre in a way that makes it more approachable, but doesn't kill all the depth like DMZ does. Bungie does gameplay very well so I am hoping to see a very fun take, but also who knows. It could suck :D
To me, Xbox started going downhill in 2010 with the release of the Kinect. Microsoft turned their backs on their core audience and then chose to double down with the botched announcement of the Xbox One. This planted them firmly at the bottom of the pile when it came to gaming reputation. Around the middle of the 2010s, Microsoft gave up on matching Sony and Nintendo for console sales and integrated with PC. A good move to make their games more accessible, but they didn't back this up with solid new IPs. Coming up to today, Microsoft arguably hasn't had a new killer app since Gears of War. They insist on pushing game pass and buying up developers without putting in the hard work and substance into their exclusives. All told, Xbox just feels hollow nowadays, lacking identity and soul.
@@Generationalwealth94 I wish Microsoft and Bethesda luck on that one. Between the failure of Redfall and the critical downturn of Fallout 76, both companies need a big blockbuster. Let's see how Starfield turns out next month.
@@Sneaky_racoon_sly True, I was just kidding, PS got better exclusives by a wide margin. Not only amazing games like Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War (2018) but also their sequels. There's just no way Microsoft can compete. I still hope Starfield is everything that's hyped up to be, both for gamers sake but also for the Xbox. Sony has been kicking their asses left and right in the games department and it's almost unfair at this point lol
🤣Gears on War was a stupid soulless series from the beginning. With pumped-up men, wretched animation, lack of a sane plot, and boring mechanics. Microsoft has never been able to make games, and they are very far from the Japanese depth and elegance. I think going to Game Pass was the right decision. MICROSOFT IS a boring corporation, without a soul, but it has a lot of money and resources, this is its strength. But the complete lack of creativity, and the soul of the artist in the games. Why compete with a competitor in his field when you can enhance your strengths? Microsoft did the right thing.🤗
A truly baffling presentation. They told me how it could watch TV... on my TV. Which can already watch TV. They spent more time talking about American sports that only apply to the USA and Wheel of Fortune than they did about games. It was like it was directed by The Onion.
Starfield is going to suck, and at this point there is no one to blame but these idiots that pre-order AAA games. The entire reason that pre-orders existed in the first place was so that GameStop could reserve a physical copy for you and you didn't run the risk of the game selling out. At this point with video games being all digital, there is literally no reason to pre-order a game.
No year in gaming will ever top 2007. Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Orange Box, Mario Galaxy, Crysis, CoD4, Metroid Prime 3, Assassin's Creed, R&C Tools of Destruction, Uncharted and Rock Band just to name a few
I really hope this Xbox showcase knocks it out of the park, cuz damn you're 100% right. Xbox lost their way so badly in many ways, it's so unfortunate. Once they changed the Xbox 360 boot animation for when the Kinect launched, that is where it started. I play across all the platforms, and it really sucks to see where Xbox is now. I know it's bad when one of my reasons I support stuff like for example, Atlus releasing Persona for the first time on Xbox, is out of pity (aside from loving Atlus games and how weird it is to see more on Xbox lmao). Good to see third party support getting better, even if some are doomed to sell poorly, but I really wanna see strong first party games again. Nearly everything they push out now looks so uninteresting, with few exceptions that they consider not as important for some reason. Just like you said, Hi-Fi Rush!
as netflix is on downfall, interesting to see how game pass will fair... it has pros and cons but I heard it aint very sustainable business model for game studio viewpoint perhaps. this perspective is why x360 generation felt magical.... I couldnt care less of hardware, as long as interesting games like atlus portfolio came coming, not to mention first time lot of playstation exclusive jrpgs despite xbox being very marginal in japan at that time.
@@alexandee00717 I think the quality of xbox is boring nowadays Xbox 360 and OG xbox crushing the time period of 2013 -2023 . It is extreme boring these days I only play COD and EA FC because it is boring on my xbox for over a decade , I really think it has become so boring that you no longer look forward to anything because there is nothing, such a first Gears of War experience that you will never get again in this way, the path that Xbox has taken
There was a time back in the late part of the 6th gen when I would visit friends who had an original Xbox (I was more of a PS2/GC guy) and had tons of fun with an exclusive library of games that were not only good, but gave a whole different vibe to what I was used to, similar to what the Dreamcast did in 1999. They kept that ball rolling nicely until the middle of the 7th gen when it just stopped. I still wonder why they lost trust in the winning formula that had been building up Ws for them since the og Xbox and forced themselves to try other stuff.
I know the Xbox was popular amidst western developers because Nintendo and Sony were failing to provide good English documentation of their consoles, so Maybe Nintendo and Sony stepped up their game? IDK
they saw the absurd success of the Wii and started trying to copy it with Kinect. from then on its felt like they’re always trying too hard to innovate the nature of gaming instead of just making good games
That’s so out of context, quit rage baiting for the sake of UA-cam likes. The games that lost its exclusivity was solely selected because those 4 titles didn’t feel as if it should’ve been exclusive as the Xbox dev team & Phil Spencer said in their interview about this situation. Not to mention the games they selected were at its peak value in the Xbox market and Microsoft wanted to expand its horizons on players by giving it out to other consoles. Stop hating because Microsoft is doing a something small to bring gamers together.
Man you nailed this video. It kills me that I constantly get called a Pony for criticizing MS for these same reasons. Man I just want good games regardless of platform!
Even in that Xbox is doing bad(meaning you getting called a Pony). Xbox fans have become just bitter name callers. Sure all consoles have their share of toxic fans but now our days it seems Xbox has just mostly that. A few days ago i was looking for some Xbox news UA-camrs to see some Xbox news, all i found was bitter children not really talking about their console and games but just spewing poison against that other console and any person that wrote anything on twitter that annoyed them or something. When turning to PlayStation news, the first videos i found was just some excited guys about new Playstation updates and coming games. Many of them didn't even bother with what Xbox was doing let along call out twister comments of an Xbox fan or anything. Just channels with Plasystation news and upcoming games etc. Maybe there are some man children PlayStation creators there, probably there are but they weren't the first thing i found and nether were the prevalent thing. Same with Nintendo just creators excited about next Switch and recommending great Switch games or talking about some bad port on their console etc. With Xbox though is just a circle-jerk of "pony" name-calling and bitterness. Even the fan media of Xbox makes you not want to be part of Xbox.
You still are a pony. Most of the xbox games I play aren't exclusive, because most games aren't exclusive, and are much better than exclusives. It just seems your making an excuse to say PS is better.
@@bearpoop720 I'm not making an excuse to Say PS is better. I'm stating that Xbox is far worse than they used to be. Didn't even say a thing about PS. That's great that you're enjoying a ton of games that aren't exclusive. I too enjoy a ton of 3rd party games. That doesn't make Xbox games any better! I want to see XBOX make really good XBOX games like they used to.
The ps3 online wasn't bad at all. Worked great although didn't have party chat 😢. But it was free and made people have to talk to other people. And cuz it was free, it was a wild wild west on there. The things u could say. But ya it was only like a year and the online was working good and was free to play
Yeah its such a shame that xbox has gone downhill but even though I'm mostly a PlayStation guy, I love the Xbox 360 because it has awesome games with best graphics, the controller design is comfortable and smooth, I love the startup sound and UI, and it has backwards compatibility meaning that you can play any original xbox games on the 360, and speaking of backward compatibility you can even play any 360 games on the Xbox one or series X/S. I really wish that ps4 and 5 has backwards compatible so you can play any ps1, 2, or 3 games.
I bought my first ps4 in 2017, then downloaded horizon zero dawn, then I got stuck for 5 mins until I pressed r3, then I got absolutely hooked, no, I loved horizon… 5 years later and I bought HFW, and the dlc in 2023, Horizon is my fav franchise, Astro bot is the 2nd…
As a sworn xbox loyalist from my teen years I think you hit alot of good points here. I was one of the people who fell out in the xbone gen. I think one thing you failed to mention was WHY they were so gung-ho about the Kinect, it sold VERY well and the shareholders assumed this is what people wanted more of and they MISSED. Also how xbox initially soured consumers with the ALWAYS ONLINE and no TRADING concepts. (At the time no one was ready for, but funny how now in order to get ya gamepass you are essentially renting and need that online connection) Xbox has lost its way, something die hard fans can't admit. The xbox console is dead, now its a Microsoft service akin to spotify. Which is convenient, but the fact you never really own anything just doesn't sit well with me personally. We'll see how this ecosystem of gaming they are going for is really the benefit of people who enjoy games or just a facade for market control
Facts. I’m a diehard Xbox fan but these recent generations let me down big time. My series x just sits in my living room gathering dust. To say I’m extremely disappointed is an understatement.
They own Bethesda and Blizzard, how tf are they dead? All the next IPs from Bethesda will be exclusive to xbox, and more on the way with CoD and the like. The next couple of years are gonna be pretty big for xbox.
This isn't only a xbox problem. I have owned every playstation except for ps5. I see little to no reason to buy one. We have a software problem in the industry atm.
I wont be surprised when Microsoft discontinues Xbox all together and go cloud based /w gamepass. I like Xbox games, but it seems the only thing they put out that I like is Age of Empires 4 and the definitive editions. + now that they've bought Activation Blizzard hopefully they can breathe life into blizzards dead games. I've never played playstation games, but right now they've been putting out games I've been interested in buying off steam.
I think the problem is the lack of exclusive IPs that they have, Sony and Nintendo have awesome exclusives. (Some of Sony's IPs are coming to Steam, which is awesome)
A lot of Microsoft’s big studios also don’t have the best reputation. Like 343 and Bethesda for example don’t have a good track record. PlayStation and Nentindo have quality IP’s because their studios are good and actually put care into their games. I know Sony and Nentindo are scummy, but the studios they own are solid.
I love my Series X as a peice if hardware, but I'm seriously losing faith in XB to deliver the quality I grew up with 😕. Whiffing Infinite so hard is so frustrating to me. Halo is literally the only reason I purchased the XBO and XBSX instead of a PS or Nintendo console
I think Xbox hardware is the best out of the bunch, I really struggle to see the point of me keeping PS, but then I remember I have a solid PC that can play all xbox "exclusives" since they dont just publish to Xbox anymore.
No brand is delivering quality anymore. Sony is milking the same franchises over and over. Microsoft is dropping the ball year after year and Nintendo is just Nintendo. Pc indie gaming is where it's at rn. Battlebit is amazing so are a bunch of other small games like project zomboid
@@unclehowdy409 i swear Nintendo has coin in their office that they flip that decides weather they make another 9/10 single player masterpiece or another 3.5/10 unfinsihed game i swear
I do hope Microsoft competes with Xbox like they did with the 360. It put Sony on its toes to push to become what it is today. My big fear now is game pass which like any streaming service is not sustainable especially if devs don’t want to put in game pass because of low $$. Even Microsoft knw its almost capped with subscribers and isn’t growing as much anymore. They need to support an ecosystem like console and exclusive games to attract and really that’s it. It’s like releasing something good quality is harder than game pass lol
Game pass feels more like a digital blockbuster.... rent a game to see if it's any good without shelling out full price. They need to put out some W's cuz' I honestly don't see the appeal of paying $15 a month.
Problem is that making quality games isn’t ‘profitable’ for them unless it’s full of shitty micro transactions, aka all the slop that HAS been released as of late. Hi-Fi rush is like the lone needle in a haystack of turds and they ruined Halo’s reputation for cash grabs.
@@maxmikester8185And it doesn’t seem like it’s going to get better as they are buying crappy big studios like Bethesda and Activision+Blizzard whose golden days are long gone. Most of the big studios Microsoft has bought are more interested in making cash grabs than passionate games.
@@alyasVictorio brands can always have a new flagship IP. For Sony during PS3 and early PS4 era, it used to be Uncharted. Now it’s the Spider-Man games. During PS1 era it was Crash Bandicoot. During the PS2 era it was Ratchet and Clank. This often happens because companies often milk once specific IP until people get bored (unless you are Nintendo). So they need to constantly come up with an IP that is associated with their brand. Even Nintendo did this with Splatoon. Xbox has failed to do this and they have relied too much on Forza and Halo. There is no single Microsoft published game on Xbox that actually showcases what their console is capable of. Sony on the other hand makes games that play to their console’s strengths and you can see that when you play those games.
It keeps getting worse even as someone who really doesn’t like using Xbox this is just sad (For context Xbox closed several studios including the one that made hi-fi rush)
Im a PlayStation guy and ive always thought Halo was incredibly overrated (though i loved 4) and associated Xbox with Bro-shooters with protagonists the size of refrigerators... and thats it. But you cannot deny what MS brought to the table with the Original Xbox (and the 360) and Xbox live. I really hope they fully get back on their feet.
@@gregorymirabella1423Idk about that. I didn’t grow up with the games so I have no nostalgia for them and I played the first two a couple years ago and really enjoyed them. I also played some reach with a few friends and enjoyed that too. Couldn’t get into 3 as much though
I was a ps1/ps2 kid growing up and eventually playing online games on the ps2 shortly after it came out, to leaving ps3 behind for 360 with friends, but just recently went back to ps5 due to just better games (imo), they are both great consoles but the games just aint there any more
Yeah pretty much same... ps1 was awesome and PS2 was insane at that time. It was like a cultural phenomenon. But I skipped ps3 n got 360. 2 360s actually for both tvs. N it was awesome... then they lost they're way. I like Phil but if this gen doesn't turn it around big time he's gotta go imo.
Similar situation, but Xbox series X looks tempting. For those playing shooter games, Forza Horizon series, or want to save more money it has it's market. Still picked PS5 for the single player story games. Spiderman, GOW, and many others.
@@akin242002PlayStation + with those 20 games seems so good especially if gamepass core has 25 games every half a year it changes.. and also ps5 only upside to Xbox series x is literally just exclusives then again Xbox also has exclusives
Xbox series X and S literally made things worse for Microsoft. The S was just supposed to the disc-less version of the X but they literally downgraded the specs instead. They're not making interesting exclusives anymore (since Xbox one) and think buying big game studios will change the trend. Their software specs overall usually don't handle big games as expected.
@@jonightwing901Tell me one thing the PS5 does better. Release shitty cinematic games? The specs are inferior to the Series X in all regards, and they make it hell to replace your worn out controller battery
@@bearpoop720Neither are better. Their exclusives are on PC and you’re literally treated worse when playing on THEIR platform. For example, you have to pay for PS Plus to even get past the title screen in Helldivers 2. Meanwhile, PC players can play the game online for free. If all consoles had the same exact games, what’s stopping people from just buying Nintendo since they’re the cheapest. I could understand a console war between diehard fans but at this point both sides are just grasping at straws when it comes to which console is better. There’s literally nothing to 1up about except the PS5 being a better media player, and the PS3 does a way better job at that.
Biggest kicker to Xbox is that every single exclusive is on pc. Why would anyone buy an Xbox when any established adult has a PC already. Spend the money on upgrading that computer and the consoles with actual exclusives.
Brother Microsoft is a software company first, do you really blame them. I don't even see them continuing making gaming hardware in the near future. Gamepass is their future, they'll make more money, and have a farther reach.
Master chief collection flopping in the way it did was my own personal breaking point with Xbox. I sold my Xbox one and bought a ps4 the next year after halo 5 also failed to meet my expectations. I was so excited for the console and brand after their e3 2014 show and most of those titles I wanted were either cancelled or grossly underperformed. It wasn’t don mattrick, or Kinect, or even the competition that caused the fall from grace, it was an inability to deliver what fans want. Quality games.
I didn't by an XB1 untill the Halo 5 limited console came out. I didn't even buy a 360 when it came out, luckily my little brother snagged a elite 360 before halo 3 came out. I didn't by my second Xbox (halo 4 limited console 2012)untill about 11 years after I bought my og xbox in 2001.

The big money keeps going into sequels and because they are sequels there’s a limited new experience involved. The golden age for me was the Xbox 360 years 2007 to 2012.
Really well written video that articulates a lot of what's wrong in the current era. I think it's great that Xbox has decided to make games more available to more people across more platforms and devices, but it's come at the cost of the Xbox brand and really taking first party seriously to truly be competitive. It's hard not to feel a sense of complacency (they do have more money than god so it's not necessarily life or death for MS.) There's a certain wisdom to Xbox deciding to pivot to focus on their strength, which has historically been services, rather than butt heads with PlayStation who is so far ahead that at this point, it's practically moot anyway. But again, it feels like they've left their core constituency behind in pursuit of growing Game Pass subs. Game Pass is a great service, but there's a problem when its finest offerings are often third-party games already available elsewhere. They've opened the floodgates of industry consolidation with all their acquisitions, which I think is only going to hurt gaming in the long run, but we haven't even seen this bear much fruit for Xbox anyway. It's a really soulless and cynical way of addressing their poor games portfolio, when they have the resources to open brand new studios with new talent who could create new things to rival or surpass experiences like Halo and define our times now. It's a real bummer and it's hard not to feel like I am constantly missing out on games that skip the platform, third party or otherwise. I stuck with Xbox because I built my digital library in its ecosystem and I've invested so much over well over a decade at this point. But I suspect I'd be much happier on other platforms.
Hey but always there's a chance to get a decent PC or go to the PS5 side and enjoy some exclusives there that you never played, for me , my old PC and PS5 let me enjoy the short time I have left to dedicate to gaming and I hope Microsoft push harder and make more triple A games so it's gets competitive with Sony, they need competition so us consumers get the best out of both

In my opinion Xbox buying studios seems to ruin them. Because when these studios are owned by a giant company like Xbox they don’t even have to try because “daddy microsoft will pay our bills we don’t have to try as long as something gets made”

Even the layout was the best.. now on Xbox one it’s just doesn’t have the type of feeling it once had and moving on to Xbox series X/s it’s like the same thing basically expect w a few new animations/sounds.. even the games are so lacking to me with being unbroken release day. I just wish Microsoft had that feeling again.
it all happaned with the xbox one. they went from focusing on video games to making a vcr box. a streaming box for movies and tv and videos. and not making good exclusives anymore. they just give up. they need to stick with ips and take community feedback
You might have missed a bit of controversy around the xbox one. Back when i was on the 360 the xbox one was revealed not able to play used games for a "performance or graphics boost" but most of my friends on the system knew what they were trying to do. Stop the resale of used games. This intern made me switch to pc instead since the first sale doctrine is like a thing that everything should be a part of. Come to think of it i remember Sony taking a jab at Microsoft in a PS4 skit. Even though they never implemented the DRM they never recovered publicly from that.
The industry has changed over the years ,these days it seems like there's no multiplayer game that doesn't have battle pass and mtx.I blame mostly EA but players are in the same boat. The golden days of xbox and xbox360 will be forever remembered.
To me , the problem is the focus with "late teen games" I need simple beautiful fun to play in family. Not headache, a week of getting used to and 200h playthrough openworld, filled with crap because they were rushed to finished the game.. so I will stick with nintendo.
As a capitalist i recommend that Xbox has to evolve to survive or we might see SEGA 2.0 destiny. Here are 9 things that would really help: 1) Future Xbox exclusives have to remain exclusive on Xbox for a bare minimum of 1 year before porting it to PC. This way it gives the devs. time to patch up & fix bugs before porting decent ports for PC instead of wasting time on all ends to fix their mess. 2) Acquire more Japanese studios so that Asian market gets on board with Xbox ( platinum games, Grasshopper Manufacture / SUDA51, SNK, SEGA ) 3) Open up developer studios, that their main job would be to remake or remaster or reboot classic Xbox IP's such as: Blinx, Brute Force, Bloodwake, Azurik, Crimson Skies, Mechassault etc. 4) Strike a deal with Nintendo to remake classic Rare ltd. original IP's from SNES & Nintendo 64 era. Split the costs of development & profits 50/50, and have them released on future Xbox & Nintendo consoles simultaneously 5) Offer Nintendo, OG Xbox for their virtual console program on their e-shop and split the costs & profits 50/50 6) Hire competent quality control, based on skills and not on diversity & equity 7) Microsoft besides their operating system, need to open up to another market. Either as electronics manufacturer like SONY or as entertainment business like Apple. Whatever they would choose make it in sync with Xbox and Windows OS & sell it as "better experience, together with our other products" 8) Get Bill Gates out of World Health Organization, United Nations & Economic Forum and get that man back to focus on Microsoft, and bring him back as THE figurehead of Microsoft & Xbox where he jumps over chairs and hangs around with The Rock 9) Host regular events across the globe for more exposure: e-sports, charity, electronic innovations expos etc.
Bro, console market is too small for Microsoft. That’s why with all their money, they’re doing a half ass job. They’re next business strategy is to become the Netflix of gaming which is another stupid strategy.
But they decided to give up on the hardware entirely and instead make money through their games, in the gaming market. Sacrificing hundreds of billions of dollars but effectively locking down almost the entire gaming industry afterwards.
As an Xbox fan, you basically nailed it. I've been thinking about switching over and buying ps5 games only. I do feel a strong sense of true next gen with the ps5.
I switched from Playstation to Xbox this generation. Xbox has more backwards compatibility options than playstation, and despite playstation bringing their A game to their current gen stuff more consistently, being able to revisit older gen games on current hardware is a huge selling point to me.
What about the Xbox PC app. If Microsoft was at all taking this seriously, they'd make that damn thing work. The new update managed to lose my games folder and constantly wants the Gaming Services app to install. Its an unusable mess and nobody seems to know how to fix it or seems to care. Loads of people are having this problem and its still yet to be fixed. Its been like this for two months now.
The only thing that stopping me from getting both a playstation five and a Xbox Series S or X Is the stupid subscription service? I don't want to pay $300 a year for Xbox live and PlayStation plus. That's why I chose PlayStation 5 only.
I remember being a PlayStation fan back on the 7th gen most people I knew in middle school were Xbox fans and the heat we got was brutal. Xbox had better online features, better games and exclusive deals. Halo 3 was the reason I almost decided to get an Xbox when it first came out, but at end I stood with PlayStation which I’m still glad

Xbox isn’t much once you realize all of the major releases are trash. They’ve more invested in gamepass than game quality. Depending on third party release quality is lame.
Microsoft focusing on chasing microtransactions and live services and trying to beat out CoD for the holiday rush is what happened to Xbox. Microsoft has forgotten how to make finished, enjoyable games.
Once the quarterly profits of the gaming industry became larger than those of the movie industry, there was no turning back. The old AAA business model (that we all love and miss) became unacceptable for the 5 or 6 billionaire boomers who don't like videogames, but rule the gaming industry. Fortunately that only applies to the American's AAA gaming industry. Indie and Japanese games still deliver.
I got an OG Xbox Christmas of 2001 because my mom bought me it instead of the PS2 I asked for. And I couldn't have been happier with it. Halo CE was obviously a really big part of it as well as Halo 2, but OG Xbox is still to me the best time Xbox has had when it comes to game offerings. Obv the Xbox 360 had Halo 3, CoD 4, Reach, and a whoel slew of otehr great games, bu tOG Xbox was at a unique time where experimentation by bigger devs was rampant and we got to see a whole lot of cool stuff that frankly is lacking today. Mechassault, JSRF, Defender 2001, Psychonauts, Republic Commando, KOTOR , Battlefront, and Phantom Crash are just a few titles and IP's that really made OG Xbox stand out to me (partially because SEGA gave up on the console wars and put alot of their stuff on Xbox) as my favorite period of gaming of all time.
Most people who prefer Xbox, had it as their first console. I'm so sorry for you all that Xbox is in the state it's in today. Look up Bill Gates' quote for why Microsoft entered the gaming business. It sheds light on why Microsoft's philosophy is so bad and why it doesn't serve gamers in a good way
Really hope Starfield succeeds and break this trend. My coworker is a huge Xbox fan and I think this will take him out of gaming for good if it ends up flopping.
What Happened To Xbox? The Enforcement team banning players for playing xbox 360 games offline and getting achievements. Guess they hate it when you get achievements offline.
Yup. I made the switch from xbox 360 to Playstation 4 precidely because of the games. There were just more options on Playstation. Broke my heart to do it, but I have no regrets. There are very few Xbox exclusive games (if any) that I have been wanting to play....
Honestly out of all the things I’d like most number 1 obviously is more/great exclusive games and i understand most people have mostly gone digital but it would be great if you could just use the disc once to install and then put it away and only need it again if you needed to reinstall, I’m sure it would have been very easy for Xbox to implement that.
People do not want to admit but Gamepass is a big problem as to why the Xbox output has been so underwhelming. The focus of Xbox is to sell subscriptions, not good games, an entirely different business model than Sony and Nintendo. Sure they might occasionally get a great game but it's not something you should have high hopes for. The first and only time an exclusive sold me a system was KOTOR in 2003. That game was just that dang good. OG XBOX ended up being my favorite console of that generation.

@@Psx806 God of war ragnarok performed excellently last game awards, but that's not the point I'm trying to make. I'm a tad confused how they plan to go from here.
@@Paprika_Real4 well either way you look at it we need new contenders in the field ps Xbox and Nintendo all their crap is getting old. It’s lost it’s luster.
I can see Xbox becoming a brand associated with their first party titles and Game Pass and no longer associated with a console. They might become the new Sega and focus on software only - and MS has always been about software. There has been a massive push in software (Activision being the latest one) but no push in hardware. It’s almost like they don’t care about selling Xbox consoles anymore and have realised consoles are expensive to design, make, store, market and distribute whereas games don’t have all these issues especially when digital sales are higher than physical. I can definitely see this happening.
What happened to Xbox? Two words...Phil Spencer. Sat in on a meeting with him during the 360s days and it was obvious just how out of touch he was with the audience.
its crazy because I felt like the xbox took alot of inspiration from the dreamcast, and now Microsoft seems to be taking inspiration from Sega and turning itself into a software company again lol
The weird thing is that they technically don't need to do Xbox stuff in order to make money. The also have a good monopoly on the PC market... because they started as a Pc maker... I think if things keep getting worse for Xbox... they might have no choice but to stick with Pc again...
Boring to bad exclusives that are always going on PC, nonstop Game Pass advertisements, and buying studios just to not put them to use and build up exclusives is what is killing Xbox
I used to want to skip school and work to place the newest game to try and and get ahead of my friends and now I could care less and would rather wait 6 months after the new game launches just for them to hopefully have most of the bugs fixed.
Let's face it, consoles (BOTH SONY AND MICROSOFT) are DYING.FACT! Most PS4 owners have NOT upgraded and do NOT plan to.(FIRM FACT!) PS owners DON'T want to play anymore updated versions of older games. Millions of gamers got tired of playing the same old tired single player RPGs on Sony that got boring REALLY QUICK. Millions of gamers are tired of streaming older games on Playstation without real backwards compatibility. FACT. Only Nintendo will be standing in a few years. P.laystation IS dying (YES DYING!) and GamePass WILL put consoles out of business the same way Netflix put Blockbuster out of business! FACTS. PS5 is a waste of money at this point. I sold mine a few months ago for a Switch that I can play both on television and on the go, with far better exclusives than any of Sony's and I haven't looked back. Sony picked a lousy time to charge $500 when it was released during the pandemic and nowadays people aren't wasting their money with inflation so high. Until Sony drops the PS5 price by half, less people will upgrade which means third party titles will continue to be made on BOTH the Xbox One and the PS4 until the current consoles come down in price. THAT A FACT! That's why PC gaming will eventually put console gaming out of business. Sad but true!
@@awesomecoolguy6515 You should space that out more. I think it's important to note that many people, like myself, haven't upgraded because we don't want to, but because of the horrible economy and how they were scalped and impossible to find for the first 2 years. However, regardless, PC gaming is the highest it has ever been. I can see Xbox dying but not really PlayStation, as some of us enjoy the control scheme and having physical media. PS4 sold really well and if we weren't in a great depression and the PS5 wasn't sabotaged for 2 full years+chip shortage, I bet it would've sold at least like 20 to 30 million more by now. Again, however, every exclusive has been coming to PS4 as well. With some notable exceptions like Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth(fantastic games). I'm so fucking tired of all the remakes, so that is a true point. I don't mind PS2 remakes, as they become different games, but shit like the Until Dawn or Last of Us remake or the idiots clamoring for a Bloodborne remake are a hinderance on the industry. Nothing on the PS3, LET ALONE PS4 need a remake and I'm so sick of seeing these slightly better looking remakes. Genuine waste of money and talent. I don't know much of anyone who is tired of the Sony "RPGs", despite my disdain for them(I just watch them as movies instead of paying lol). I don't think PlayStation is going anywhere. The only reason Microsoft is supporting Game Pass is because they have only made 1 good game this generation(studio got canned) and nobody is going to buy an Xbox unless they are ignorant or don't care about the industry. PlayStation doesn't NEED game pass because they have become the default "real" console. Many Japanese devs will keep developing for PlayStation primarily, with PC being ported afterward. Square Enix, Sega, Capcom, all of them develop primarily for the PS5, and then port it after the bulk of development is done. The only real platforms I can see in 10 years is the PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo. It helps that Xbox has been sabotaging themselves with the most convoluted consoles ever. There's like 3 different Xbox Series(dumbed name ever) and only one of them is actually good. Meanwhile, PlayStation actually knows what their doing by making PS, PS Slim, and PS Pro. Also, you shouldn't say "that's a fact" for speculation. More and more games, especially this year, are shifting away from old gen. Of course, shovelware like Call of Duty and Madden will be available everywhere, because they aren't real games. They exist not to be art but product. The entire purpose is to sell as much as possible, so it doesn't make sense for them to develop PS5 exclusive games when they wouldn't dare push it to its limits like FF16 would.

They have Starfield tho which you'll never be able to play on PS 😎😎

🤣Gears on War was a stupid soulless series from the beginning. With pumped-up men, wretched animation, lack of a sane plot, and boring mechanics.

(At the time no one was ready for, but funny how now in order to get ya gamepass you are essentially renting and need that online connection)

A lot of Microsoft’s big studios also don’t have the best reputation. Like 343 and Bethesda for example don’t have a good track record. There's a certain wisdom to Xbox deciding to pivot to focus on their strength, which has historically been services, rather than butt heads with PlayStation who is so far ahead that at this point, it's practically moot anyway.
Hey but always there's a chance to get a decent PC or go to the PS5 side and enjoy some exclusives there that you never played, for me , my old PC and PS5 let me enjoy the short time I have left to dedicate to gaming and I hope Microsoft push harder and make more triple A games so it's gets competitive with Sony, they need competition so us consumers get the best out of both

why does one choose Xbox over Playstation or Nintendo?
I bought an xbox one s only because it was a 4k player and $189 back in 2019 and I wanted to play Killer Instinct. Everything else is pretty much elsewhere.
They killed Halo after they showed Bungie the door. That's when it was easy to choose which console to buy on day one.

I might sound like a broken record but back then on Xbox 360 was such a charm for its era. So many great games came out and the menu start up was a memorable experience never left you at all. Even the layout was the best.. now on Xbox one it’s just doesn’t have the type of feeling it once had and moving on to Xbox series X/s it’s like the same thing basically expect w a few new animations/sounds.. even the games are so lacking to me with being unbroken release day. The only few games I enjoy was forza horizon and halo mmc but most of the time I mostly on gamepass playing older game titles from 360 or just try new games out mostly indie games. I just wish Microsoft had that feeling again.
I really enjoy Railway Empires 2. It's very chill & laidback.
Exactly how I feel an I play old games for the memories since new ones aren’t fun
it all happaned with the xbox one. they went from focusing on video games to making a vcr box. a streaming box for movies and tv and videos. and not making good exclusives anymore. they just give up. they need to stick with ips and take community feedback
Xbox itself killed xbox
Halo 2 was amazing!! I also loved how you could store music and listen as you play. Ahhh the good ol days

Xbox just keeps failing. 😅
I went from xbox back to PS once they started putting ads on the 360 home screen. They sold out their customers. They deserve to fail
It’s a damn shame the Xbox brand has been garbage ever since the first gen :’(
To me , the problem is the focus with "late teen games" I need simple beautiful fun to play in family. Not headache, a week of getting used to and 200h playthrough openworld, filled with crap because they were rushed to finished the game.. so I will stick with nintendo.
As a capitalist i recommend that Xbox has to evolve to survive or we might see SEGA 2.0 destiny. Here are 9 things that would really help:
1) Future Xbox exclusives have to remain exclusive on Xbox for a bare minimum of 1 year before porting it to PC. This way it gives the devs. time to patch up & fix bugs before porting decent ports for PC instead of wasting time on all ends to fix their mess.
2) Acquire more Japanese studios so that Asian market gets on board with Xbox ( platinum games, Grasshopper Manufacture / SUDA51, SNK, SEGA )
3) Open up developer studios, that their main job would be to remake or remaster or reboot classic Xbox IP's such as: Blinx, Brute Force, Bloodwake, Azurik, Crimson Skies, Mechassault etc.
4) Strike a deal with Nintendo to remake classic Rare ltd. original IP's from SNES & Nintendo 64 era. Split the costs of development & profits 50/50, and have them released on future Xbox & Nintendo consoles simultaneously
5) Offer Nintendo, OG Xbox for their virtual console program on their e-shop and split the costs & profits 50/50
6) Hire competent quality control, based on skills and not on diversity & equity
7) Microsoft besides their operating system, need to open up to another market. Either as electronics manufacturer like SONY or as entertainment business like Apple. Whatever they would choose make it in sync with Xbox and Windows OS & sell it as "better experience, together with our other products"
8) Get Bill Gates out of World Health Organization, United Nations & Economic Forum and get that man back to focus on Microsoft, and bring him back as THE figurehead of Microsoft & Xbox where he jumps over chairs and hangs around with The Rock
9) Host regular events across the globe for more exposure: e-sports, charity, electronic innovations expos etc.
"capitalist" lol
Bro, console market is too small for Microsoft. That’s why with all their money, they’re doing a half ass job. They’re next business strategy is to become the Netflix of gaming which is another stupid strategy.
But they decided to give up on the hardware entirely and instead make money through their games, in the gaming market. Sacrificing hundreds of billions of dollars but effectively locking down almost the entire gaming industry afterwards.
As an Xbox fan, you basically nailed it.
I've been thinking about switching over and buying ps5 games only.
I do feel a strong sense of true next gen with the ps5.
I never owned a playstation, but now that they're adding their exclusives to pc finally. I can't wait till some of them go on sale on steam.

+ the ps3 was $600. I never had a xbox or playstation. I mainly stuck with Nintendo consoles & handhelds. Right now I have Xbox One X, but it came free with my 4k tv when I bought it. I hardly use my xbox other than watching 4k movies. I was considering buying a playstation 4 or 5, but now that they're putting their exclusives on pc I have little incentive to buy one now. I remember kids in class arguing all day everyday about which was better ps3 or xbox 360 it was really annoying back then. + the constant shit talk about who would beat who's ass in a 1v1 on cod, halo, or fighting game.

Here in asia back in the mid 2000s Xbox sold over 5k units only 😬
Xbox isn’t much once you realize all of the major releases are trash. They’ve more invested in gamepass than game quality. Depending on third party release quality is lame.
Ill never get rid of my og Xbox or 360, those game me some of my favorite gaming memories ever.
Problem is without good new Halo game, so do Xbox's existence in the first place? 🤷
You know, Xbox without Halo = XBozo
Microsoft focusing on chasing microtransactions and live services and trying to beat out CoD for the holiday rush is what happened to Xbox. Microsoft has forgotten how to make finished, enjoyable games.
Once the quarterly profits of the gaming industry became larger than those of the movie industry, there was no turning back. The old AAA business model (that we all love and miss) became unacceptable for the 5 or 6 billionaire boomers who don't like videogames, but rule the gaming industry.
Fortunately that only applies to the American's AAA gaming industry. Indie and Japanese games still deliver.
I’m fine with Xbox but Wii sports is the best game of that era

Great vid! Hopefully the Xbox showcase in A few days is one long time fans can be excited about for the weeks to come.
xbox and playstation are both equally good and bad imo
People do not want to admit but Gamepass is a big problem as to why the Xbox output has been so underwhelming. The focus of Xbox is to sell subscriptions, not good games, an entirely different business model than Sony and Nintendo. Sure they might occasionally get a great game but it's not something you should have high hopes for. Knowing Bethesda and after all the delays, Starfield is going down the same road as Cyberpunk 2077. Generate hype, lie and then sell the garbage product... rinse and repeat.

Crazy that Xbox has been bad longer than it has been good.
