Been following Leaf for most of my life. I'm 32 now. My dad always referenced him when talking to us about our attitude and demeanor when playing sports growing up. Always told me n my brother, you can have all the talent in the world, but if your mind isn't right you'll throw it all down the drain. Ive been happy seeing him on tv with his new outlook on life these past couple of years. It's good to see how far he's come. Good mini doc vid Mike. Well done

Ryan Leaf is a great example of every human's ability to fall apart and fall off in any moment. No matter how great you think you are you are vulnerable and can find yourself and this very situation from the smallest thing happening in your life. The worst part is you never know what that thing is that will derail your life. The important thing is realizing when it's happened and picking yourself back up no matter if you can do it on your own or if you need help. Always reach out to people no matter how humiliating it maybe it could be an important part of what changes your life for the better

Most everyone deserves a second chance because we all make mistakes. The people who hit rock bottom and some how scratch their way back have a unique perspective. But far too many never overcome their mistakes unfortunately. I hope his future remains positive!

I think this is the best video I have watched of yours since you came on my radar about 7 or 8 months ago. I don't know if it was the plethora of media clips available or what but I really enjoyed this one. It was good. My only complaint about it is a technical one and that is having your voice clipping the mic at the same level as the media clips. I was watching and then all of sudden your voice was so much louder, I had to reach for the volume control really fast as your commentary was so much louder. Please don't take that too negatively because this was a really enjoyable story and I did not know the back story of Ryan Leaf other than he had been a bust for San Diego and as a backup elsewhere.
Never heard of this guy. I know little about US sports but I'm learning. All I can say is I don't care what he did in his NFL career, overcoming opiate addiction and being a better person is the hardest fight to have. Maximum respect to Ryan Leaf.

But now players have a full blown mental evaluation and support system put in place because now leagues acknowledge how important mental health and leadership is when it comes to recruitment. Ryan stated he had almost no support compared to today’s college draftees.
