    I loved the front brakes squeaking on a new tundra as it came to a stop.

    no oil is worth a crap at 10k specially on a gdi n turbo engine. notice blackstone always wants you to push the oil services farther hmmmm interesting.

    At my 29k analysis, silver had increased to 4 ppm. Where are these soldered joints? Isn't everything cast and press fit??
    My 34k sample is pending. Thanks for the report!

      @LivingwithCable  Місяць тому +1

      The only thing I could think it would come from is the solder from the oil coolers when they are made. It's interesting to me. I just wouldn't think that would still be happening at this point.

    Mobil one is an average oil, wouldn’t go more then 5000 miles between oil changes. After switching from Mobil 1 to Penzoil ultra platinum. My 2021 titan XD, and Mercedes Benz GLC 300 run so much smoother and quieter.

    The bearing failures are due to a Design Flaw (that’s what’s coming out) not debris. The debris was never confirmed and was just a guess. Car Guy Online has several videos with Real Tundra Engine Data that goes into detail. Mark my words, the 2024’s will also be included in the recall..

    • @LivingwithCable
      @LivingwithCable  Місяць тому +1

      I would think if it was a design issue, every engine would be blowing. I have definitely pushed my engine a good bit towing trailers. I will definitely have to check out Car Guy Online!

    • @spinfish1434
      @spinfish1434 Місяць тому +3

      @@LivingwithCable It’s possible every engine will blow. Toyota is doing this in stages to keep up. They have to keep selling trucks and they want 24’s sold before they include them in the recall. It will take years to fix this if they even can? Resale value has fallen through the floor..

    • @LivingwithCable
      @LivingwithCable  Місяць тому

      Yeah resale has come down a good bit. Just for giggles, I ran the numbers again on Carmax. June they offered $47,000. Their offer yesterday was $42,200. It's definitely a interesting situation

      @@LivingwithCable It’s a Hot Potato that’s losing more value every month.. Get rid of it sooner rather then later before it drops any further. Cut your loses and look for the newest lowest mileage 20-21 you can find..Who wants to deal with all the headaches, issues down the road especially some dealer replacing an engine.

    • @LivingwithCable
      @LivingwithCable  Місяць тому +3

      @spinfish1434 I am gonna stick with it. So far, it has been a great truck. I may regret it later but I think I will regret it more getting rid of it.

    Always go with the next heaviest oil from what the manufacture recommends, exam. 0w20 go with 5w20 or 5w30.
    Never use any kind of blend oil. Another thing, if you have to perform MORE and expensive maintenance on it
    because it's turbo, your wasting money on any benefits for the money saving benefits that you wanted for what
    you bought it for.

    What oil and filter brand are you using?

    • @LivingwithCable
      @LivingwithCable  Місяць тому

      I don't know for sure the oil filter brand but the oil is Mobil One. This is what my dealership uses. I have been letting them change it for now since I have service plan.

    Silicon is most likely do to silicone polymer which is soluble in the oil. It's from gaskets and used as an antifoam additive. Very unlikely its dirt. If silver is from bearing material, OH BOY did the engineers at Toyota ever screw up. I just lost a turbo at 16,000 miles. Waste gate .

    • @LivingwithCable
      @LivingwithCable  Місяць тому

      Oh man, I thought the turbo issue with waste gates were solved! Sorry you are having issues! I am really curious about the silver, I just would think it wouldn't be from soldering at this point.

    • @wburtney5154
      @wburtney5154 Місяць тому +1

      @@LivingwithCable The dealer said both turbos should be replaced but Toyota will only replace the one with the error codes. He said don't be surprised if error codes pop up on the starboard turbo.

    • @LivingwithCable
      @LivingwithCable  Місяць тому

      @wburtney5154 you would think with all the trouble they have to go through to change the one out, they would go ahead and change the other one!

      I think Silicon is basically sand. And Silicone is a plastic/rubber material. 2 entirely different things that are not related. But I am an engineering college dropout 😂

    How many electronics that has solder are in the engine?

    • @LivingwithCable
      @LivingwithCable  Місяць тому +1

      I think they were mainly referring the solder joints on the oil coolers. I honestly don't know

    5W30.... 0W20 in a turbo engine is a no go. I don't care what the manufacturers say. They spec a thin oil due to CAFE standards.

  • @joshlaubach8166
    @joshlaubach8166 Місяць тому +2

    You also shouldn’t go to 5000 miles on an oil change it’s a bit too much I don’t care what they recommend.

      The days of turbo timers are long gone. Those turbos run cooler and can continue to cool if needed after you turn off the vehicle.

    With all due respect, I think you said you only have almost 5000 miles? There should be no such thing as a decent report. It should always be above average up until the point you hit about 25,000 miles.
