Thanks this was very helpful as I have just installed my first skimmer and was having awful trouble until I took the cap of the air intake.. now working like a dream
@majestic aquariums, mate im using the g216 .. and i dont really have any room to run the drain hose from the cup into a coke bottle etc, im thinking of just plugging the hole with silicone and emptying the cup as required this wouldnt really have any bad effects as you dont have to use the drain hose right ?, also its in sump so if it overflows no harm done really right ? as it will just go back into the display tank
If you use these in a sump what depth do they like to sit at. From the look of this, when the elbows are removed, anywhere close to that. Would make it ideal for a deep sump in that case?
Good advice, as instructions are unless that came with it, couple off questions I keep getting mirco bubbles from outlet ports as I'm hanging unit on back off tank also my taps are almost fully closed does that matter? Tank is an 200ltr
David Owen Good advice, thanks as instructions are unless that came with it, yep couple off questions I keep getting mirco bubbles from outlet ports as I'm hanging unit on back off tank I suggest having the skimmer on a timer so it is off while you are likely to be viewing the tank. I would mainly have it on at night also my taps are almost fully closed does that matter? not if the unit is totally white with bubbles Tank is an 200ltr feel free to email me a video of it running to review
Hey mate, great video. Does the outake valves with sponge filter need to be immersed in water? I prefer not to fill my tank level so high as its hanging off the back at the moment. thanks!
Hi, I notice your using the skimmer without the filter sponges. Is that OK to do? Mine seems to be kicking out micro bubbles atm and was wondering if removing them may benefit as it seems quite excessive, or would you recommend leaving them on during break in period.
I have a fish and corals Aquarium 90 gallon. I had my Aquarium up and running for over 7 years now without a protein skimmer. What benefits will I get if I added a protein skimmer now in my sump area?
Thankyou for this review. Do you think a protein skimmer would help clear bacteria out of the water? I am trying to get rid of cyano that forms a cap on my substrate which I have been removing with a net by scraping the sand but it comes back within 2 weeks again.
Well new protein skimmers need to cycle so put it in tank let it run for a day over flowing and for you’re pump you don’t have it on all the way.. the (bottom) of the pump has the suction cups are not for the bottom of the tank it’s to suck onto the side of the wall of the tank it’s a hang on the back filter it’s not long enough to sit on bottom and when you have the pump sitting side ways you don’t get that bubbles that escape the pump
Took about a week for my skimmer to break in, once it did it's been working flawlessly.
Finally a video what I'm looking for.
How model this skimmer?
Thanks this was very helpful as I have just installed my first skimmer and was having awful trouble until I took the cap of the air intake.. now working like a dream
Haha, exact same thing, before that it was just filling with waterm couldn't figure it out!
I got this same skimmer and its bubbling out the top of the unit. I took the lid off it just pushes it off.
This the BOYU SKIMMER INTERNO DT-2524?
How is it this silent? Mine is super loud

To help with micro bubbles try tilting the outlets outwards

best if the sponge is on

The sponges are what stops/prevents the micro bubbles

Is the skimmer normally noisy? The pump is pulsing and the bubble in the skimmer is also noisy.
A little
