My top city-based tours (sorry for the long text):
12. London Loop: Out of all the city tracks, this is the one that feels like the most generic. Other than having to avoid a few Chain Chomps, the layout is simple and nothing exciting other than a long shortcut one can do. Honestly the most forgettable and boring of all.
11. Paris Promenade: Although it was good at the beginning, I think it's a track that hasn't aged well. The fact that his first two laps are the same route,In addition to having the problems of Wave 1 (its terrible models and textures not updated from Mario Kart Tour), makes it a very weak track. Still, the music is fine, and its third spin was a huge surprise when I first played it, but apart from that, I don't think I'll touch it again.
10. Los Angeles Lapes: Although it is not the first circuit to be set (in part) in the beach area, the fact that it is combined with the city gives it a certain air of freshness, along with the area where the machines that hinder the passage are located. Even so, its layout is somewhat boring, making it a track comparable to the London Loop in terms of its originality (i mean, generic). I think its most striking section is the music, being a good remix of the original (although it's a pity that the "Bah" aren't there).
9. Amsterdam Drift: It is one of the few circuits that has sections in different areas, such as a route in a water channel or a field of flowers, which is appreciated and makes it interesting. Despite this, there are sections that are corridors that are very closed (like the last corners of turn 3) that slows down the gameplay, his music is forgettable, and his graphic section does not help, having a grass that looks like plasticine. Still, it's better than the last three circuits.
8. New York Minute: I remember when I played this circuit as soon as Mario Kart Tour came out, and the truth is that it left a good impression on me. I like the fact that it's set in a city with references to Donkey Kong and New Donk City, even though it's technically a New York set (no matter how obvious it is). The circuit is interesting, although to some extent it becomes flat, and it has music that, although not the best, is decent.
7. Tokyo Blur: Although it is a basic track with three flat variants, it is certainly one that I enjoy every time I play it. It is one of the few that manage to convey a feeling that you are on the site, that is, Tokyo, and that is helped by the big-band music that accompanies it. His references to Japanese culture (such as Hayibayashi) makes it a good track to play, even though it suffers from almost the same issues as some of the other Wave 1 tracks (like flag templates, which have no animation).
6. Bangkok Rush: Even without being the best, the truth is that a good track with different routes, but just as entertaining. Its environment conveys a journey that is helped by its references, which also serve as routes or shortcuts. Without a doubt, the best is his music, which surpasses Tokyo Blur, since it transmits even more the sense of the trip together with the adrenaline of the track. The few sins I find is that they removed the Piranha Plants that shoot ink, but from there on out, it's a very good circuit.
5. Singapore Speedway: For sure if it weren't for Yoshi's Island, Singapore Speedway would be the best track in Wave 4. It is entertaining from start to finish, with original sections (laps 1 and 3) that make you want to enjoy the circuit more, although lap 2 falters, making the route of this tour somewhat flat, but it is a minor detail, that with his great music, that is forgotten.
4. Berlin Byways: The truth is that I argue with myself about which is the best track in Wave 3 (if Wii Maple Treeway, DS Peach Gardens, Merry Mountain or 3DS Rainbow Road), because with the exception of the London Loop, the choice of tracks is extremely, very good, and of course the Berlin Byways belongs to the best. Although the theme of a highway is one already seen in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, such as N64 Toad's Turnpike or DS Shroom Ridge, what makes the Berlin Byways fun is its hectic route, where vehicles are a constant danger (making it more enjoyable than the other tracks mentioned) which is accompanied by great electronic music, which makes it more chaotic. It is even better enjoyed in 200cc. Although, honestly, I did not expect to see a reference to the Berlin wall.
3. Sydney Sprint: As I remember the first time I played this track in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (when Wave 2 arrived, and me with all the hype), since, as soon as the song started playing, it was a total wonder for me. Seriously, I could only stay talking about the music, because of how bright it is, but I will also talk about its other sections. With Wave 2, it was a great upgrade in every way, after what Wave 1 was (even having good tracks), like its models, textures, fun, and of course, its music (which I clarify that it was the only thing that kept the first one). Sydney Sprint takes that, and takes it far, with a route that is both fun and interesting at every turn, and makes the concept of a circuit more attractive. And of course, his music, which made me fall in love with this track, and even made me want to dance, due to its catchy rhythm. Although, just when I thought this would be my favorite real city track of all, Wave 5 changed my mind, and made me realize a detail that distances it from perfection, I say it in Athens Dash. Still saying that, Sydney Sprint is the best track of Wave 2 (yeah, above DS Waluigi Pinball although it is also GOAT) and one of the best courses the Booster Course Pass has offered.
2. Athens Dash: It won't be my most favourite, but I do consider it to be the most original real city track of all, as well as being one of the most entertaining of all the DLC, along with other tracks. Although the Sydney Sprint is a tremendous track, there is one thing where it can lack (not drastically) and it is in the variability of obstacles and tricks, where Athens Dash surpasses. It has multiple routes in each lap that you can choose, many strategic areas to take advantage of the race, great references to Greek culture, and music that feels appropriate to the theme, which makes it great (though not as flashy as Sydney Sprint which is what beats this track). With that being said, Athens Dash is one of my favorite tracks.
1. Vancouver Velocity: Finally we come to the track, which I consider the most beautiful, not only for its aesthetics, but also for its music and originality (in this sense, along with Athens Dash). I remember when I played its variant 1 in Mario Kart Tour, I said that if it makes it to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, this circuit will break it. What can I say? Each section makes its walk beautiful and chaotic at the same time, with very striking parts such as the bridge, where it makes great use of antigravity (something that I really appreciate), the park you walk to (which is actually the reverse version of Vancouver Velocity 2 in Mario Kart Tour), the stadium where you have to avoid the Shy Guys, and the tunnel along with the corridor you walk through. And my goodness, his music is unbelievably excellent, with a very catchy rhythm, and It reflects very well the aesthetic of the night in Vancouver.
What makes it even more great to me (from personal experience) is that really reminded me a lot of the trip I took with my mother and brother to Pucón, Temuco, Chile (which is the country where I live), which that although it is not the city present in the game, Vancouver Velocity has an aesthetic and an atmosphere that was very familiar to the beautiful area of my country (either for its active, clean and beautiful city, its striking forests, its tourist areas such as the Villarrica volcano, among others), which I highly recommend visiting it if one day you are in Chile, just as I hope that Canada is one of the countries that I must visit.
With all of that put together, Vancouver Velocity It's my favorite track, not only from the DLC, but also one of the best tracks in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and one of the best in the Mario Kart franchise.

12: Tour Paris Promenade, two laps of this track are the same, and for me that's not good for a city track
11: Tour Tokyo Blur, very simple layout but I like the music
10: Tour Amsterdam Drift, for me, it feels the same every lap, and the music is not so good
9: Tour New York Minute, laps 1 and 2 feel very similar
8: Tour Los Angeles Laps, where are the bahs? The oil field is so confusing is mirror mode
7: Tour London Loop, I like this track, but it's not at the level of the remaining city tracks
6: Tour Vancouver Velocity, the route is just wrong
5: Tour Berlin Byways, why is 2nd lap so long? It just makes the 3rd lap so short and repetitive
4: Tour Sidney Sprint, a very fun track to play, but the route is just awful
3: Tour Bangkok Rush, is a very unique track, but some thing about it's tour version are gone
2: Tour Singapore Speedway, it would be perfect if the 2nd lap wasn't so short
1: Tour Athens Dash, everything about this track is perfect
Here's my ranking :
12th : Berlin Biway
Aside for having no real stand out location, Berlin biway is maybe the only trap I think is uncomfortable to drive on. I especially don't like the straightaway at the beginning, and the metro part. Plus I know it's Berlin but god is the atmosphere boring and the wall part is really bad taste.
11th : Tokyo Blur
While I find most of the city tracks to be a bit too long, this one is too short and really has nothing memorable in it in term of atmosphere, landmark or track design, it feels like a city version of mariokart stadium. It doesn't drive badly but has nothing that stands out.
10th : Sidney sprint
While I like the bridge that you take both way with the obstacles becoming ramps, it's the only thing I can even recall of this track, the rest is boring and not really fun to drive on. I think it's a bit symptomatic of the city track to have one or two good layout ideas with very boring segments of straight road in between.
9th New York minute :
Despite having nothing to really stand out, I find new york minute quite pleasant to drive on. Sadly it's one of those tracks with an entirely superior version in Vancouver velocity, having a similar but improved atmosphere and much more memorable layout. To bad new york minute (also hth is this NYC ?)
8th : Paris Promenade
Yet again a completely idealistic version of Paris that took a smaller french town and just put the Eiffel tower in the middle. As a track I find the line surprisingly comfortable to take for a city track and there is a decent amount of choice in pathing, but it's still a very simple track all things considered.
7th : Athens Dash
Yes it really stands out from the other tour track but in the grand scheme of Mariokart track theme, we've seen things more out there. The map really suffers from the booster pack lacklustre visuals and while the layout is really diverse non of the part feel fully exploited or individually interesting. I like the glider on lap 3 though, but that's the only thing I think stands out in it.
6th : Amsterdam Drift
Amsterdam is the textbook exemple of a city track with one excellent lap with nothing else to speak of. The underwater section on lap 2 is fantastic and really show how to make an interesting section with water, but lap 1 and 3 makes you want to sleep and everytime we leave the city proper I want to tear my eyes apart. Wasted potential.
5th : Bangkok rush
Here we start seeing some of the better city tracks. While we still have the usual randomly awkward turn and useless transitioning sections, bangkok still manage to offer some unic and memorable parts, as well as a generally interesting layout. The beginning with the boats, as well as the parking garage are relatively good sections, and the part of the road where you chose between the top and bottom part is really a standout, especially on lap 3.
4rth : LA laps
While LA may offer us what's probably the ugliest starting location in the serie with a view on what are probably the least polygon used on a building of the history of Nintendo, the tracks begins strong with what's probably the best first lap of all the city tracks. The beach part is a real stand out and they managed to make the generic road section connecting it to the stadium be much less annoying than in the other tracks. The oil part is interesting although a bit out of place. What makes it not the best city track outside of the questionable visual quality is just how underwhelming the end of each lap and lap 3 is. You were so close LA.
3rd : London Loop
While it doesn't have as many stand out part and may not depict the scale of the city very well, london is still one of the best city track to actually drive on, with a simple but excellent layout. The part with the chainchomp offer some very exiting shortcuts, and the parts around the Thames are very nice. May not be the most impressive track but a sleeper pick for sure.
2nd : Vancouver Velocity
While I had this one in first for quite some times, I've tamed my enthusiasm a little bit since then. While the beginning with the giant blue structure that probably has a name is very good looking and memorable, and the first bridge leads to interesting shortcuts, I find the last track to be quite a bit weaker. Don't get it wrong it's still the second best city track, I love the shortcut in the part and the layout is good, but it just let me down a bit past the great first impression.
1rst : singapour speedway
Here's in my opinion the track that is not only the most fun to drive on, but also offers the most interesting, unic and innovative layouts in the game. It starts off pretty well with the pool on the roof on the first turn already foreshadowing the verticality of the track, and give us a nice view with a very good steep glider section on the way down. Second lap takes a slightly different path and lead us a but below with a second glider section that keeps the track fresh and distrinct. But what really makes this track is that unlike for LA and Vancouver, we finally have a track that doesn't fall flat at the 3rd lap, and in fact manage to make it the best in the course. Starting of strong with a conveyor belt section in the iconic Singapourean gardens, it follow up right after with one of the best and most varied glider section in mariokart 8, and finish with a nice, although more generic "asian market" with more cramped layout. The overall consistency and stand out elements make it the best city track for me.
With wave 6 in mind now, where would you put Rome Avanti and Madrid Drive?

D 14: Tokyo blur. Super boring layout that makes me wanna go to sleep. It dosnt look apealing due to it being wave 1 and the water looks horrible and it does a bad job to feel anything like tokyo.
C- 13: london loop. Just overall boring with alot of just road. I dont feel anything when playing this track and i persenoly never liked tracks with fog in the backround as it just makes the backround all boring, i get that london has a lot of fog i know but that dosnt mean i like it. I do like the chain chomps on lap 3 tho.
C 12: La laps. This is another just boring one with multiple straight roads and i find the colors to be not so appealing. Yea the beach is cool but you race through it once the rest is just kinda blring turns qnd straight roads. Oh and i cant forget about the oil field... becuese americans do love there oil i guess... not only is it a weird decision to go throuh an oil feld but i also find the gameplay of it to be just kinda mediocer, i do like the glider ramp tho. L laps dosnt really look alot like la to me too.
C 11: berlin byways. Im sorry i just dont se anything in this one the cars are cool but thats about it. The layout is kinda weird some times and its just kinda boring with nothing but ROADS i like it more than la tho as atleast it dosnt have many straight aways so cool i guess. The music is a banger tho.
C+ 10: paris promenade. While it does feel alot like paris i find the gameplay to just be kinda okey and thats it. Yea i dont got alot on this one i like the glider i guess... sure. Paris promenade is kinde interchangeble with new york minute but i think i like new york minute a little bit more.
B- 9: new york minute. Ah new york minute the over hated one. The layouts is decent it looks cool its very vibrant and feels alot like new york. The variety is ok you go drive through central park wich is cool, there is a cool bus a man hole spewing water and a cool area with a red carpet (and dont know what the area is called). And overall its a pretty good track. I hear alot of hate over it but i never understand the complains it has way more stuff than tokyo and la, yea it got some mediocre turn here and there but not enought to ruin the track in my opinion.
B 8: amsterdam drift. Amsterdam drift is cool it got a nice seting the water part is fun i looks and feels like amsterdam. Its amsterdam drift☝️. Yea thats it, its the middle of the pack i like the upcoming tracks more and its not like its that great or anything so its here in 8 place in B tier.
B+ 7: rome avanti. Rome avanti is easily one of the most peaceful and beutifull city tracks in term of astetics the layout can be kinda weird sometimes but still fun the cololseum is always fun to drive through and the glider and rocky wrenches are a lot of fun. Just a fun track thats almost an A- but not quite there.
B+ 6: vancouver velocity. Honestly kinda overated. Yes its beutiful the colours, the backround, the music so on and so fourth, but the gameplay it self arguably the most important part eh its like decent i guess. Dont give me wrong the bridge part is cool and lots of fun including the ice ring but the rest ummmmmmmm yea sure its alright, kinda straight here and there with some alright turns but yea its fine. Beuty isnt everything im sorry. Its good tho dont give me wrong i like vancouver velocity.
A- 5: madrid drive. Originaly i had madrid drive in c tier as i though it was kinda boring but you know what, maybe i treated it a little to harchly. The layout is actually pretty good and it got alot of veraity including a museum an outside market place a section of a mall and a football stadium. Its just alot of fun. But my one big complain is that the astetic is kinda boring, yea it looks like madrid but madrid isnt the most unike city anyways so yea.
A- 4: 🗿sydney sprint. Sydney sprint is 🗿the track most people can agree 🗿with being pretty great. Its a good🗿 layout, there is a 🗿cool theme park, 🗿MOAI🗿 and fun out of place ramps🗿 in the middle of the road (they are weird but 🗿i dont care its fun). Its not my favorite🗿 city track as it🗿 got some few boring parts with just road and no cool senary. But the track 🗿is still great.
A- 3: bangkok rush. Okey shut up and listen. This track is very underated. Yes alot of it is just road but man is the layout just so much fun and the astetic is very cool it really looks like bangkok unlike tokyo blur. + it does have some cool parts like the river with the boats and the part with the bouncy parasol things, so much fun.
A 2: athens dash. and now for the best european track out of the insane amount of them.
Athens dash a very unike city track as it dosnt really feel like a city track. You drive through some genarick roads like the others instead you drive through mountains and old greckic ruins. Athens is easily one of the coolest capital cities in real in my opinion and this track really does it justice. The layout itself isnt always perfect but i still like it quite a bit.
S 1: singapore speedway. Wow suprise i bet no one sawit coming. I shouldnt even have to explain. Great gameplay with tons of variety gorgious colours and astetics. Its singapore speedway easily the best city track. In my opinion
