Yeah, Chad! What a great run! I love me a nice little LSD as well! 😂 the inversion layers with the dog was picture perfect! Great choice of trails for a 50k. It was good to see it all in your video after you mentioned it on our last Horsetooth run. A perfect last long run.
Awesome 😎 Glad you liked the video! I'll also run a 20 mile lollipop route from Coyote Ridge to part of Horsetooth and back. It's wonderful to have these trails so close to home.
Such a joy watching this. My injury is starting to give some progress so I can explore all those trails. This video helped me on a deep level. God love you and yours my friend!!!
Thank you my friend! I always appreciate you checking out my videos. It was energizing to say hi to all the hikers and have brief-fun conversations with them.
Love the toad, the goose family and the spider (web)… wish you a great race in the La Sal Mountains. Sure you did your homework man. Excited to see great footage afterwards. Have fun out there. Keep on
Awesome video! I enjoyed seeing that area again. I was a student at CSU for several years (a long time ago, ha) and lived in FC year-round. I loved hiking in the Horsetooth area and also in Poudre Canyon, such as Greyrock Trail. I'm still on the struggle bus with aging and chronic health issues but slowly making my way back to running. Thanks for the inspiration!
Nice, beautiful area! I'm doing the same thing this Sunday in Dolly Sods, WV. Although 50k is my end goal and not prep for anything. I'm looking forward to it but I'm also anxious as it'll be the furthest I've ever run. I'll be very slow, but better slow than not doing it.
Beautiful run! I’ve just began exploring trails in central California, and plan to run my first ultra next year. I have some marathons planned, but can’t wait to hit the trails! Love your videos! Excellent content!
Thank you my friend! What Ultra are you eyeing? With a couple marathons under your belt, I think you'll do great! Running on the trails is such a fun experience and it's great to be able to explore all kinds of areas. Cheers!
@@SeeChadRun thx! I’ll try to run a starter 25k trail run as part of my training block for Big Sur Marathon next April. We have BLM land at an old army training base in our area that hold trail events. It’s not too technical, but descent elevation to help with upcoming Big Sur and San Francisco marathons🤙
Great run Chad, I'm going to borrow the parts of that I haven't ran yet. Love watching and recognizing the trail, something I could never have done 18 months ago. Oh, the Path Projects hoodie looks pretty nice. Their shorts and liners are the best I've tried. Good luck in Utah! Sounds like a great challenge!
Thank you so much! I was pleased with this route and it was fun to explore new areas on the east side of the reservoir that I hadn't previously ran, and connect it all together in a big epic loop!
@darrintaylor8653 I'll be staying an extra night after the race and then driving home. My whole family's coming out so my wife can drive the car if needed as well, and my parents and brother are coming as well. My brother will be pacing me the last part of the race and my parents will entertain the kiddos with games in the RV and jeeping 🙂 All my other races, I just drove home afterwards 😆
That was a beautiful run! While I’m a fan of the reviews, these runventures are easily my favourite. The Wadi shirt looks really good. I have a Patagonia Sun shirt that’s been seeing a lot of time on me lately. Great accessory! Question: with the BR pack seeing more time, any longer term thoughts on how it rates vs the Salomon?
I appreciate you and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Overall, I like the Salomon ADV Skin packs more but find myself opting for the Black Diamond pack because I knew it would do well with the extra water in the back, it has the trekking pole sleeves which is simply convenient, and I can carry quite a bit more stuff when needed (which also makes it a great day pack).
@@SeeChadRun that makes perfect sense. My wife drinks a lot more than I do so I stitched an attachment point into the AdvSkin for a 1.5L bladder. There is actually a through point on the top of the shoulder (with only a tiny hole needing to be cut). As always, thanks for the inspiration, Chad!
Chad I’m in awe. What an amazing video and textbook lesson for anyone serious about taking up trail running. Run stop walk hike and never miss a moment to appreciate your surroundings. Fantastic and thanks so much for sharing with us. Chad I told you recently that I’ll soon be launching my own UA-cam channel and it would be great if sometime I could call you via zoom for an interview, would that be something you’d be willing to do? If so then maybe we could swap emails and start to plan ?
That could be a lot of fun! I feel like there's a lot going on in my life but if timing works out, I'd be happy to be a featured! Of course, I'll share the video too ;-) My email can be found in the About/More section on my UA-cam Channel Page. You can also message me on Instagram/Facebook. Cheers!
I ran the 33 miles simply because that was what the route ended up being based on what I wanted to run (what trails I wanted to explore) and because I wanted something longer than 20 miles, so why not a 50k+. Conveniently, as you mentioned it does break up the 100 miles into 3 parts, and this run simulated the middle part in my mind because I was already running on tired legs. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
There is a small fee if parking in State Park, but I started at a city park and then ran in so I didn't have to pay anything. The two soft flasks are the HydraPak Ultra Speed 500ml. Thanks for checking out the video!

Yah! It really was great and I'm still riding that LSD high 😂
So cool, I've done home to horsetooth n towers and home but not around the whole thing yet. Very cool.

You're so kind and I'm glad your injury is showing progress! One of these days will get together for a run.
This was great! Your stoke at seeing the other folks on the trail was awesome. Fantastic content!

Did you plan to run 33.5 miles so that you could break up the 100 miler into 3 parts in your mind? This was a really enjoyable video. Thanks.

Any chance you have a GPX link for this route?
I think you can get the GPX from my Strava run: strava.app.link/30ZCHYyPnMb
Running in that trail is free?
Is that 500ml soft flask?

Beautiful scenery through the woods, spectacular views of the mountains, gorgeous and vibrant colors...lucky you. And, also, good job.
Thank you so much! I definitely feel blessed to have these trails so close to home.
