30:30 - the best moment of any 100 mile video. When your wife hugged you, the emotion was so clear. Thank you for sharing that. Honestly not sure how you weren’t crying since I had tears in my eyes! 😁 Love the video, Chad. You are such a hero! Truly appreciate you and your energy. My mantra from now on will be a quote from this video: “Tomorrow I won’t regret not finishing.”
I nearly had tears in my eyes a few times at that moment and aid station. Really contemplated to drop but I'm so happy I didn't! Such a huge accomplishment that's hard to put into words and describe to others, I'm happy that I could share a part of that journey in this video. As always, thank you so much for your kind words!
Was coming to say the same thing. 30:30 is what I sent to my person saying thank you. Bawling to her plea to remind you what the past and future you wanted her to say in that moment. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video and race Chad, so nice to see all the support you got and also that you didn't stop at 90miles. I like you how you said it, 'you won't regret finishing it tomorrow' I'm a bit late watching :D
Congratulations Chad ! What an adventure and interesting course. Reminds me a bit of a mix between Zion ultras and Tushar - really cool! And that first sunrise (or sunset, can't recall) wow! Hope you are recovering well!
Appreciate you watching the video! It was a pretty incredible journey for sure. I'm recovering quite well. My legs have never gotten very sore and my feet are recovering (first time really getting blisters during a race).
Great job! The video really shows the beauty of this course. You were always so upbeat even when you hit your lows. It's very inspiring to watch. My husband and I ran this course but did the 50 miles. It was our first and oddly won't be the last! It truly was the hardest thing I've done. Again, congratulations, you did amazing !!!
Appreciate the comment! Congratulations on your 50 miler as well! That's pretty awesome! And even more special that you and your husband ran it. Did you stick together the entire time? This was my first but not last 100 miler!
@SeeChadRun yes my husband and I ran it together ! Coming from Wisconsin, I was a tad nervous with how I was going to do with the elevation gain... but overall, we finished midpack... I set a goal, and that was to survive the UTE 50... so we did that... I kept telling myself why would I ever do this again... here I am now thinking it might be fun to do another one... but again, congrats! Your video was amazing!
You picked a serious race for your first 100. Fantastic performance, Chad. You looked ready to drop before the end. Well done for powering through 💪🏃♂️
Thank you my friend! I thought about dropping but my family rallied around me and I'm so happy that I kept going. I even ran a couple miles and a few sections here and there during the last 10 miles!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and it was my pleasure to share the experience. Words can't describe the experience so hopefully the video does better 🙂 Thanks for giving it a watch!
I was finally able to watch this video- CONGRATS Chad!!! That looks like a brutal race to tackle for your first hundred miler, and you crushed it. Loved how you were able to push through the lows to get it done and finish so strong. Congrats again!
Thank you so much Jason! It makes me happy that you watched the video. Like you said, it was a brutal race and yet a large part of me says I would totally do it again. Already thinking about my next 100 miler 😁
Congrats Chad! That’s an epic accomplishment, especially with that much vert in your first 100. The fact that your brother ran an ultra just to help you is pretty epic too. It looked like a beautiful course. I’d love to run out there some time, just not for that far 😁
It was absolutely beautiful! And yes, so amazing of my brother to run so many miles with me and also to have the support of my family at a couple aid stations. They really helped lift my spirits. Appreciate you watching the video and for the comment and support!
The work you put to make it done, wow!! So good you got to see the family to add the extra boost and motivation to get you until the finish line. Amazing scenery. Congrats Chad!
I appreciate it! It was so good to have and see the family there. It was fun to see how excited the kids were to see me at various aid stations and to have my wife support me the way that she did makes her a superhero. Thanks for checking out the video!
Very impressive! I found you channel a handful of months ago and am loving it. I'm also a Colorado runner. I'm running my first ultra (trail 50k) in three weeks and I'm nervous as anything. My training has been good with all weeks over the past 2-3 months having 30 miles or more. This last month I've really been pushing it with 35-44 miles each week and 3-6kft of vert. I'll have a total mileage of 44 this week, including my 21 mile trail run planned tomorrow morning.
Sounds like you'll have a successful 50k! What race are you doing? I'm glad you found the channel and are enjoying it. It's fun to share journeys like this with everyone.
@@SeeChadRun I'm doing the Red Feather Trail Jamboree 50k. Yeah man, keep it up. Maybe I'll see you out running. I run mainly on the trails in Boulder County.
@Outdoors2theMax Red feathers is a great race! I have a video of the inaugural 50k that I ran a couple years back. I'm also planning to run the 50 miler next year. Best of luck and enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/Ee8f1uV5U3I/v-deo.html
Hey Chad this was an awesome video! Loved how much of the La Sals you caught on camera and it made me realize how little of the area I've seen. Definitely moving this race up on my to do list. Also, congrats again on your race! It's been fun following your progress :)
Amazing! I came to the race this year to get some exposure to what a 100 miler looks like and I'm so impressed with your accomplishment here. I'm planning on finishing it next year!
Just sat down to watch. What a great run! Congratulations on persevering and completing your first 100! It was fun seeing your family out there supporting you and giving you a boost when you needed it. The spectacular views had to have helped a bit. You continue to be an inspiration to many. I’m honored to have shared some trail time with you as you prepared for this race. Now wear that buckle and flaunt it when you can because you earned it! Well done!
Thank you! A tough race with absolutely beautiful scenery. I'm glad this one was my first despite its difficulties. Appreciate you for watching the video!
Thank you so much! There was a moment where I doubted if I could finish but it's amazing what a little rest, some mountain dew, and a good quesadilla will do for you. 😆 I'm so happy with what I've accomplished!
Thank you Chris! I'll be sharing a couple more races this year as well as the continued shoe and gear reviews. Thanks for giving the video a watch! This was an amazing race and experience.
Fantastic! I found your channel via your interview on Buckle Up and you were talking about prep and training for this race, so it's so nice to have a window into the big day (and a half-ish). So inspiring, you dug deep and got it done. 🙌 Subbed for life. I'll keep checking in while I work on my own goals. Peace! 🤙
First, Big congrats on a huge milestone! What an awesome accomplishment! I kept wanting to make a comment about an amazing part of the course, but it just kept being sick. lol. What a route! Also, what did you think of the BD Distance pack? I love those things. They fit me like a glove.
The pack worked great. I wish it had a little more room on the front of the pack to hold a couple more gels, but it fit me well, has great storage for poles, and allowed me to carry a couple extra things for the night section without feeling like my pack was overloaded. Rumor has it that they are coming out with a slightly updated pack later this year so I'm hoping to get my hands on one. Appreciate you for checking out the video!!!
@@SeeChadRun Yeah, they keep making minor tweaks. I have one of each of the current iterations. The old one is nice because you can fit a 3L bladder. The newer one actually has more up front storage than the older one did. That being said, I did carry an extra fanny pack for Cocodona, so I could have more things accessible without needing to take the pack off.
I didn't do a lot of night running but have done a lot of early morning headlight running. The night section was one of those big unknowns but having a pacer during the night was huge! My brother kept me engaged, mindful, and motivated.
I ran in the Topo MTN Racer 3 trail shoes. They actually worked great until about mile 70 when I developed a blister under the balls of my feet (first my right foot then later my left). Perhaps having a shoe with a little more underfoot protection would have been useful. Looking at the shoes after the run, I can tell the midsole took a beating but otherwise it's a great shoe!
Killer video! This was set to be my first 100, but I severed my plantaris tendon and got a bad medial gastrocnemius tear on 7/21 /24 at Utah’s Spartan races!! Goal post shifted, but I’m back to running now! Tonight was day 13 of my streak, but my comeback story start 7/22/24!!
I'm glad you asked! I was running in the Topo MTN Racer 3 trail shoes, T8 Sherpa shorts with their Commandos underwear, Path Projects Wadi LS hoodie, Black Diamond Distance 8 pack, Salomon carbon poles, and Ciele hat and Goodr OG sunglasses. All the gear worked great except next time I'll choose a shoe with just a little more underfoot protection (or rock plate).
I would say so. There are less than 100 participants between both the 100 and 50 milers. Despite it being lesser known, the race director does a great job and it's a worthy race.
@@SeeChadRun oh wow! It did look like there weren’t that many runners but that’s still surprising! No wonder they were able to give you a bunch of stats of how you did afterwards, and why they were grateful you chose them for your first 100.. now that I think about it, doing a race like theirs does seem like the most ideal for one’s effort on a first 100 compared to others like Leadville where you risk DNF from the strict cutoffs
