I’ve had a rough couple months due to my wife filing for divorce after 18 years in May. Recently, I was in Nashville for three weeks helping my mom sell her house and thankfully I was able to catch you for three shows at the UD. Watching you perform those nights has helped me get through this difficult time and I want to thank you, your band and Cal. You guys are amazing. Also, thanks for signing my guitar and once I get back on my feet, I’ll be hitting you up for a lesson. Thanks!
Love the longer hang. Plenty of time for your stories, news, and a great lesson. Here’s to 100k, being tired, and working your ass off to be the best. Put the pedal to the floor!
Beautiful examples of the pull to resolution. Cartoon scores were a big influence on me and probably a big number of us all that grew up with Sat morning cartoons, some of the best descriptive music to grow up with 🤘🤘✌️🖖
Thanks Guthrie! Love your videos and thanks so much for stopping by in the middle of all the action going on! You deserve it all buddy. Take care and all the best!
Hey Guthrie, your videos have encouraged me and pushed me to explore the different chord shapes on the neck and how to practice them. Thank you so much for you videos and your positive attitude, excitement for guitar and your own push to succeed and grow, I’m super excited for your licks and playing on the king of the hill, I know you’ll absolutely kill it, once again thanks man, you are an inspiration and huge help and I love that tv show!!! I’m almost more excited to hear you on it than the show itself!!!
Your deliberate and intentional playing sets you apart. You aren’t just hoping, you have a plan. Inspiring. No substitute for your hours and hard work. Thanks for teaching that it isn’t magic - it’s dedication.
Sounds like you’ve been working your ass off for a lot of years and it’s exciting to see things going well for you. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your wisdom.
If I can pick up one millisecond of the talent you share in these videos, my guitar playing will increase 100% ! Thank you so much for sharing Love listening to your stories, words of wisdom and anecdotes, mistaking Mc anrow for Art Garfunkel is hilarious 🤣
It’s amazing to hear from those with an actual career in music. There’s a huge difference between the pursuit of musical prowess and the lust for fame. Lessons like this matter and thank you!
ThankQ GT ! Been “pheening” for a video for a couple weeks !!! Excellent points to rave on: sound and video guys, and the disrespect of conversing while playing, etc. Triads rule ! Cheers from Thailand ! 😎🇺🇸🇹🇭🇺🇸⚓️🎸✅☕️🌮🍤🎸🎸🎸😸🤠😎
GT, thank you. These hangs are fun and always illuminating. I feel lucky that while you were so busy, we were out traveling. Didn’t miss anything. Bless you, man, and I hope the traveling circus can get out to California. The guys you’re gluing together are the BEST.
Great episode! Love what you call the "rants". It was like a stream of consciousness caused by your sleep deprivation. "Ole' GT's tired!" Haa! Cracked me up.
Glad you are positively busy and engaged in your craft. Do take time to take care of yourself. Oh yea, I tell folks for every day that folks put Christmas decorations out before Thanksgiving, Santa kills an elf!
Hi Guthrie, just ordered your IN STEREO - Collector's Edition CD 🙌. That´s the least I can do from here to support you fine artists/musicians. Chances might be low but I hope you´ll come sometime to Germany for touring. Would love to visit concerts then. Anyway, I always enjoyed everything you are doing here on your channel. I learned a lot and it´s ,beside your awesome breath-taking playing, very inspiring ALL THE TIME. Please keep on doing it, it means A LOT. Take care, bro 🎸
Totally agree on the noodling it’s like when you’re trying to talk to someone and they won’t look up. They’re just on their phone. I’ll just walk away.
You couldn't be more right about being respectful when conversing with others. 90% of the problems in this world are because we don't listen. It's not hard. And I almost lost it when I saw Christmas trees in Costco before Labor day. You're the best
I grew up on Oahu. Try and drive up to the north shore when you visit Hawaii. Most beautiful spot on the island. Your mind will be blown! Love your Chanel Guthrie and all that you do!
So grateful for everything you share. Don’t feel bad about not posting regularly. If all you did was just go directly to the lesson, I wouldn’t feel as connected to you. Sharing stories and what you’re up to makes this channel more personal. If people wanna get right to the lesson, they can always skip ahead. I know I’ve improved from this channel. Thanks Guthrie.
Great content GT! Very cool hi tech amp stand tip, very hillbilly deluxe! Love the Val Kilmer Doc Holiday character reference- you cats are indeed in your prime
Glad you "checked in". : - ) But more glad that things are going so well for you. We'll be here whenever you can post but no worries if you don't. Cheers bud.
Hey Guthrie! Welcome back. It's great that you've got so much goin on! Congrats man! Busy is good. Great little lesson. Yep, its a hard no for me too on Halloween starting in September. If it's always holiday season they really don't mean much after awhile.
Great lesson man! This is crucial to my development. I can do other things on the guitar, but not this, so I need to study the **** out of the video because I love your music. There's a ton of great advice in this one program that makes total sense. Very enlightening. Thank you GT!! Love you too dude.
Just throwing this out there.. I keep accidently making country chord progressions, licks, etc sound too bluesy versus country. If you did a video on how you think of making "types of sounds". I'd love that. You may have one already. I'm not through all your videos yet. Love it man. All of it. Your playing, your teaching, your style etc. Keep on keeping on brutha!! 🤘
Great stuff Guthrie. I'm going to send this to a student. For homework.😃👍 edit: It was also great to catch up on what you're doing. The musical, and other tuxedo adventures. Luau baby!
Guthrie, I drove through Nashville twice this weekend - once on Friday, and once on Saturday. I was so disappointed that I wasn't able to get there Thursday night for your gig! You must have people coming from all over the world to see you now, thanks to your work on UA-cam.
Great musical content as always but there's always room for a heartfelt rant! Well said with the sound guys Guthrie! Always difficult until you get your own sound guy, even then you have to stick to your guns. Rarely had the noodling thing, but you're spot on, it sucks, just like someone swiping while they're supposed to be listening...
I went through the same thing in the tone cloud for the positive grid spark, yesterday. Found an ambient tone like that and it took me back to the days of my first multi effect the old ART. I was like a kid in a candy store lol.
My dude, ever since we met at the cafe in February and I came to see you guys tear down the house that Monday night and I got to see how they fit a giant Rock God in a real man's human form, I've been enjoying your ride and adventures through these encapsulated story lessons. I get so much out of what your share and I want to give you a serious thanks for that. A hit to the tip jar! Keep up the great Telecasting.
We missed you Guthrie. You are not an effects man Guthrie. A little bit of delay and reverb is all YOU need. They only get in the way of your playing. Love all your vids.
Bro no blow back here about the length of your video, I've been looking forward to your next video since the one prior lol I appreciate the time you take out of your busy schedule to show us lessons to make us better and to understand why these things are important so Thank you again bro for your time and also I totally agree with you about people rushing to celebrate the holidays they just need to slow down and appreciate today. Salud!
Is ALWAYS a good day/time for triads and double stops. :-). Def it’s an help to me when composing a tune or a part. Also helpful to explore the different, “harmonic pull” , of different intervals. Right On Time, Man! 🎉
Great lesson as always GT! Also that’s a very cool scaled down Halo delay. They do sell it now on their website. It’s called the Halo core - but I think the ‘Hillbilly Halo’ has a better ring to it 😁💪
Mr GT, for what it is worth, by applying these concepts and all the others you have shared that are related, i have seen my live, improvisational skills really really improve. Ever so grateful. Hopefully one of these days i will make it to the East Coast and hear you in person. And you are a lucky man, that Keeley pedal is great...maybe they will put it into production, it would likely show up on my pedal board.
In regards to your bringing your variety show to other towns. I can’t help but think of the words of a famous country song. “ We’ll send me down to Tucson and I’ll get the job done.” Come on down . Get it done:)
I’ll be interested to see what you bought. I’ve been wanting to buy a Martin for going on 10 years now. Limited choices here for in person shopping, only store in town now is a guitar center and they keep them in locked hangers.
I did the immersion experience out at your place about 2 years ago. I had a great time but I barely played a note because this stuff was like Latin to me even though I've been playing for 45 years. And even though I have relatively decent chops, I had no idea about what I didn't know. I had just never heard of these concepts. Since that time I have watched a ton of these videos and it's slowly kicking in. I am going to do a Zoom lesson or two real soon and then another immersion. I hope not to embarrass myself next time I come out. Thanks for being patient with me!
I definitely believe in clean sounds, just amp and guitar but I like that Halo and I’d like to buy one and use it just enough. They’re pricey though, gotta save for it. Guthrie, that reminds me of the song on your solo record w/Tom. I need to work on those triads.
Guthrie I found a 65 Pro Reverb, all original, except for a new cap and tube job for sale at my local store. I may have to get that thang. Has original speakers and footswitch.
Even a tired GT still flows all over the neck - lately I’m seeing the triads inside bigger chords then working on trying to be melodic and less predictable - really challenging but it’s good work.
If you thought the end of September was too early for Halloween decorations, I was in Home Depot today, the 3rd of October, and they already had Christmas shit out.
Guthrie who would you recommend to take a vintage Kay guitar to get looked at or set up in Nashville? I have a couple ideas? But, I was wondering if you had any referrals or recommendations? Good luck on the acoustic guitar hunt. There are definitely some gems around town. Keep up the great work! 💯🎶
That Hawaii trip sounds killer. Gotta love hanging with those guys. Get your rest - I'm way behind on your lessons, anyway! Hey what advice for doing last minute fill-in gigs? Keep ears open is number one, I guess. Helene hit the guitaris''s area hard, so I'm filling in tomorrow.
I’ve had a rough couple months due to my wife filing for divorce after 18 years in May.

Just spending my Saturday with GT, having a beer, and appreciating everything.
Incredible teaching and insight! Thank you!
This may be one of my favorite videos from you Guthrie, 100% spot on with entire rant
No matter what its an honor and always learn - we need to hear about life too - it all matters
Love the longer hang. Plenty of time for your stories, news, and a great lesson. Here’s to 100k, being tired, and working your ass off to be the best. Put the pedal to the floor!
Take care of yourself Guthrie…. We love you
Great lesson, Great Rant, Wise Words of Wisdom, Right on!
Ha! Tired or not, you are one heck of a teacher. Great lesson, sir. You are dearly appreciated here, GT. Whenever you post it's always a treat!! 🙏
Outstanding man! Thanks so much to you and your buddies for being a true inspiration. You guys deserve it all!!!
Beautiful examples of the pull to resolution. Cartoon scores were a big influence on me and probably a big number of us all that grew up with Sat morning cartoons, some of the best descriptive music to grow up with 🤘🤘✌️🖖

You don't play tired, Guth. We all love and appreciate you. You've gone so far on the instrument. Keep up the good work. Outstanding.
Your deliberate and intentional playing sets you apart. You aren’t just hoping, you have a plan. Inspiring. No substitute for your hours and hard work. Thanks for teaching that it isn’t magic - it’s dedication.

Your take on amp positioning just made me look at things in a whole new way. Thank you.
The harder you work the luckier you get! Congrats on all the cool stuff happening right now. You deserve it!!
stay safe, love you all . Guitar forever
Some great easy to understand concepts here.
Love the longer vids, love the Knowledge with all that's music, and love the rants. GT, Uncle Larry and Jedd, man y'all are just great human beings.
Great to hear you are keeping so busy!
It’s amazing to hear from those with an actual career in music. There’s a huge difference between the pursuit of musical prowess and the lust for fame. Lessons like this matter and thank you!

Amazing sound!
It´s a pleasure to be here and listen your advices and music!
Thank you! Triad lesson much appreciated as well as gigging tips 🙏
Hey Guthrie, nice seeing you. I all of a sudden stopped receiving notifications about your channel. I hope y’all are good.
Glad you are positively busy and engaged in your craft. Do take time to take care of yourself. Oh yea, I tell folks for every day that folks put Christmas decorations out before Thanksgiving, Santa kills an elf!

Nice gadget gift there and other goodly stuffings... looks like Merry F'n Christmas, came early already!
In stereo ❤been listening to it all week. Great album 💿
Great update GT. I owe you a tour of Austin so consider us for a stop at some point. Happy to help if I can! Keep at it!

Hey Guthrie, great as always
I totally Agree on that last point about rudeness
You're awesome GT!
It was a great lesson for me Guthrie! 35:14 My wife and I will see you for the first time live at the Underdog Nov. 4th.
We missed you Guthrie.
You are not an effects man Guthrie. A little bit of delay and reverb is all YOU need. They only get in the way of your playing. Love all your vids.
Is that the Andy Timmons setting? So beautiful. (The Hillbilly Halo, so cool.)

Hey GT, I gotta tell ya man.. Love Ya like a Brother!! Play On, Brother!!!

Wow great sounds!!
I know how ya feel. My old hood here in Colorado sure has changed
I like to think of myself as not just a cat but a hep cat. Killer stuff.
Nice setting on that Halo. It doesn't over power.
Greetings from Oktoberfest! Rock on GT!
Yea Man - I got one of those simplified versions and sort of thought GT would dig that!
I definitely believe in clean sounds, just amp and guitar but I like that Halo and I’d like to buy one and use it just enough. They’re pricey though, gotta save for it.

SPOT ON with the holiday BS! Exhausting. : )
Hell yeah, Guthrie.
You’re 100% right on the videography dudes. They need to accommodate your setup, not theirs.
I have a standard Halo... nothing else makes the sound of a dual-delay as good as a Halo, even more usefull with an expression pedal.
Thanks. That is helpful info. I'm slowly understanding it, so it's helping. Also, is that a Beatles mini Vox amp behind the Fender?
Welcome back! Get some rest.
Even a tired GT still flows all over the neck - lately I’m seeing the triads inside bigger chords then working on trying to be melodic and less predictable - really challenging but it’s good work.
