I remember meeting Annette Funicello at a free concert in my neighborhood across from my high school. . when there was intermission I tried to go to say hello and a guard stopped me and she said it is ok let him come over and she was so sweet and kind and very genuine and one of a kind and I spoke with her for a little bit and then after the show we spoke more and had tea and it was so nice you will never find a person like Annette Funicello she was so loyal and kind and I sing some of her songs and they brighten my day .thank you Annette for being you and god bless you always and forever .thank you for posting this

***** WOW, what a story and thanks for sharing! I agree with you 100% about Annette!!!! She was the MOST TALENTED of all the Mouseketeers and was also a VERY underrated singer! All of her movies----especially the beach party ones----were clean and fun entertainment that will live on for generations to come. And while I am VERY sad that she lived the last 24+ years suffering with her disease and has passed one, I am also at peace knowing that she will never suffer again. And I know that she would want us to be happy in life and cherish the good times when we have them because what happened to her could happen to any of us!!!

I would have loved to have met her. I know one thing now judging from what you wrote. She was a real class act.

I'm jealous. I wish I could've met her. I smile every time I watch her or hear one of her songs. She's one of my all time favorite actresses.

janey kingy I met Frankie backstage after a show with Annette in 1989 and he was VERY friendly and even posed with me in a photo. What a great guy but sadly, I did not get a photo with Annette since the two of them had to quickly leave but it was still a wonderful moment in my life. And I can only wonder how Frankie felt when he found out that Annette had died almost two years ago now. I am sure he was devastated beyond words but maybe also felt relieved in knowing that Annette's years of suffering were over forever like I am sure all of us fans felt, too.

He was one of those "Frankie's" and "Bobby's" that came along when Elvis was in the Army and always got ridiculed for their lame songs and attempt to cash in on the "idol" craze. But, you know Frankie Avalon always had class. I liked the guy. I think he was a down to earth good representation of the era. He didn't sing as good as Bobby Rydell or Bobby Vee -- but, at least he didn't try to look like Elvis the way Fabian did. For a guy who is 77 -- he looks pretty damn good.

What a classy way he talked of her, but then thats the way we were raised back then. Go met Mom and Dad and go for Pizza what a great date. Used that formula myself back then.

I just want to say that Frankie has been like a good spoke person for Annette. He always speaks well of her and puts Annette in a high light. Annette I hope realized that. But, she , in my opinion was a narcissist. I know she is gone, but I did see that in her.

What a pity that Walt Disney never allowed any black kids to be Mouseketeers, so that they too could feel "as welcome as can be". What a good and deep and profound change that might have had on the world, how mournful that such an opportunity was lost.
