This is wonderful..we haven't seen a picture of Darlene, or any interview with her in decades..she still looks and sounds terrific,at 72 years of age. We loved her when she was in the Mickey Mouse Club 55 years ago; we enjoy seeing this very short appearance, and interview with her now~!.

It is nice to see the "kids" as they look now. I enjoyed watching the show all the time as a kid. Now 50+ years later this brings back such wonderful memories. Thank you Mouseketeers for all of the good memories!

Wonderful to see Darlene Gillespie again! She was easily the most talented of the original nine red team Mouseketeers. I was so in love with her when the show debuted, in a six year old kind of way, of course!
I liked her father's serenade of Dolly Porter (Wasn't that her name?) about her buckwheat cakes. I didn't see the MMC until reruns about 10 years later, so by that time Buddy Ebsen was in first run as Jed Clampett on The Beverly HIllbillies.

I do. Unlike pretty much all of my friends who were in love with Annette, my dream girl (literally...dreamed about her on a regular basis) was Darlene. The one thing that sticks in my mind about Corky and White Shadow was a song about hush puppies. Thanks for the question.

Bobby has ALWAYS been my Favorite. He was my first celebrity crush. I ran to watch( reruns) of the MICKEY MOUSE CLUB. I Love it. Yes I'm a woman and my ex husband wouldn't let me name our son Robert ( Bobby) but I did get Robert as his middle name. I think my ex husband was alittle jealous of Bobby Burgess. LOL
I have a wonderful friend who was a mouskateer but due to security I can't say who it is, but this person lives in the same state I do. Big big fan of the MMC!!!! I'm also a retired WDW Cast Member ...I was a French language interpreter/Guest Service....

I grew up as the show was starting to go into reruns but I really enjoyed the show and wished that it would be able to be seen on tv again it would really be great to see the show from the past and see all the great skits and dance and singing numbers as well . I hope that someone out there sees this and is able to fulfill the request . the show must run again and never stop . todays shows are full of violence and it is time for real good fun shows to come back like the mickey mouse club .
After all Walt did by promoting Annette over Darlene, it was quite civilized of Darlene to refer to Walt as 'generous'. She really had more talent than any of the other Mouseketeers and it's sad that she never got the promotion Annette did. It is great to see her again!
+Firefighter horseman Darlene was my favorite Mouseketeer - and Tommy was my fave of the boys. I used to have my late darling aunt braid my hair like Darlene's - and this was in the '70s! I had no idea the Mouseketeers were all grown up by then lol!
Margaret Tudor In our memories people stay the same. I think Walt picked the right person in Jimmy Dodd to be the head Mouseketeer because it seems that some of his goodness has rubbed off on all these kids.

It is with regret that I just learned by a fluke when I was looking through Mickey Mouse videos and then the internet that Karen Pendelton died, Oct 6, 2019 of a heart attack. She was in a serious car accident in her twenties and was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. She went on, in spite of her disability to have a very productive life.
Darlene was my favorite, along with Nancy Abbate and Margene Storey. Doreen was certainly the sexiest, and Tommy, with that lovely speaking voice, was the hottest guy. It's great to see them! It's really nice of Bobby, Sherri and Cubby to mention Jimmy Dodd and Roy Williams, the leaders who clearly loved the children.
A simpler time, when people uplifted each other, when good behaviour was the norm & rude stuck up people were not tolerated. I can imagine that some of the other Mouseketeers may have been jealous of Annettes popularity, but out of respect for Jimmy & Mr Disney the show came first, unlike todays "stars" in their own eyes
They were out there at the time. Those problem Mouseketeers simply did NOT survive very long, thanks to the adults running MMC. Now a days, too many adults just want to be friends with kids.
They look better today then they did for the 2005 reunion oddly enough. Sherry was only there for the second season but had a long list of film and t.v credits afterwards. Having signed her the producers didn't seem to know what to do with her and never gave her many opportunities. She was the same age as Karen so that was partially the reason why. Having two cute ten year old girls on the same show proved superfluous. Shame because I think she was more talented than Karen. What did Pendelton do after the Mickey Mouse Club? Answer- Nothing!
??? Quite obviously, Walt did what was best for the MMC show. It was NEVER about the most talented. Just like with AGT where it is all about the votes. Walt had his own system, which kept the MMC on ABC for 4 seasons.
Well there were only a couple dozen mouseketeers and maybe there weren't that many black viewers, maybe mo black kids auditioned. Have you read why there weren't? Whatever the reason, you van never judge the past by the present. You can certainly LEARN from it and evolve and improve. Buy you can't judge if you weren't there.

I am 25 now and I watched reruns of mmc when I was a kid. I remember having a huge crush on Darlene she was sight for sore eyes!!
