It’s amazing, this man looks 98, has a physical body of 98, but I’ve never seen a 98-year-old that still speaks and carries himself like he’s 48. Most people at that age can’t even put 2 sentences together or remember who you are. Absolutely amazing.
Betty White was also sharp in the mind too. I took care of a priest that lived to be 101 years and 11 months old. He was born in 1898 and died in 2000! He's existed in the 1800's, 1900's, and saw the turn of the millennium! He took his daily walks up to two weeks before he died. He just stopped eating and died. It was just his time and he had perfect health right up to almost the day of death. It was amazing! We should all be so lucky! My son was born in 1999 and there is a picture of Fr. Joseph (the priest) sitting with my son. It's a pretty cool picture to have.
My great nan managed to live until she was 98. She was remarkably sharp witted but unfortunately, in an old body like you say. She actually declined incredibly fast at the end but she lived a life that many desire and few achieve unless you go out there and live every minute. I can only hope I get to mid 70s let alone mid 90s!

Take a look at the current generation. You can easily leave out the "for a 98 year old" Your statement sticks when you would say: "He looks very energetic" or even: "he is very energetic"
Awe. I had the honor of working with him on a national tour. He did a side fall every night and every night I would catch his chest and help carry him off stage while we all sang and danced. Each night when we got in the wings of the stage, he would thank me. Thank God I never dropped him.
My nephew wrote him several years ago and sent him draws. To my nephew surprise he got a drawing from him signed and saying I love your drawings. He a awesome person
Same here. Watched TDVDS in the early '60s (and still watching it!), loved Mary Poppins...life will not be the same without him. Hope he's here for several more birthdays.
One "movie" in particular from the late 1960s/early1970s may have even saved some lives. He appeared in a film (16 mm, projected in the classroom) shown to all California high school sophomores in a mandatory class appropriately called "State Requirements". In a brief interview, he talks of how wearing a seatbelt gives him feeling of being firmly connected to the car, and recounts an accident on a Los Angeles freeway (the ancient twisty 110 between downtown LA and Pasadena IIRC) which flipped his car and tore the body off the frame (this was in the days before unibody construction, when a car's body was just bolted to a truck-like frame). So he was sitting there afterward, belted into a seat still attached to a frame and four tires... but no car body around him. Everyone here in the comments is wondering about how he's lived to such an old age. Well there's part of your answer.
The bummer about getting older is there's no one left that you grew up with. My mother lived to her 90s and I saw this with her. You have to stay engaged with younger people if you get old.
Saw his 98th Birthday Special on CBS tonight, 2 hours well spent and I think he really enjoyed it!! So did I and I'm sure, millions of others who appreciate the gift of his talent, so graciously shared!
