kune kune pig,Guine pig,Juliana pig, which kind of mini pig is better?
I thought this would dissuade me from getting a little piglet but seeing him run around like that makes me love pigs even more
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Guys, as someone who has got a “mini pig” and ended up raising a 300lb monster for 16 years please make sure it is indeed a “mini pig”
It's like how super dwarf reticulated pythons max out at 9 ft. Now, a 9-ft snake is not exactly teensy, but it qualifies as miniature when its regular-sized relatives are 20+ feet long.
Is in really a monster?
@@lizziebkennedy7505 I guess it depends on how snuggly it was. A grumpy 300 lbs mini pig might be a monster.
Then again, a snuggly 300 lb pig that demands to sleep in your bed and hang out in your lap might also be a monster.
This helped out a lot I was gonna make the decision to buy one and i was simply not gonna be ready for them to be that big. Now I’ll prepare a big space for them and not rush it ❤️
He's definitely gotten bigger than we expected. But we have plenty of space for him and he lives outside. Thanks for watching!
They are lots of work.
They are not that big. Mine is smaller than cocker spaniel dog
@@emeldacarlos2052How is your piggy doing? How old is your piggy now how much does it weigh? How much is it eating now? Ty
I don’t think he wants to be weighed! 😂. That’s exactly I feel when I have to get weighed!! Lol !
😂😂😂
The first time I saw a mini pig and wanted one, I was led to believe it would be a small pet. A lot of people have been told the same thing and found out later their pig grew to over 100 pounds. I am glad that Willow Ridge is showing you the real truth. They are good people. At the time I wanted a mini pig it would have been a wrong choice once it grew so big as, at that time, I didn't have the land I do now. I was in rentals. I thought I would be able to carry the pig around Everday but not true.
There is always plan B--for Bacon. Get your mini pig, enjoy the little guy while he's cute and small, then when it gets big, enjoy the bacon, ham, and pork chops. You can give him a good, happy, fulfilling life, until it comes time for that one bad day. You probably don't even needed a specific mini pig for this, as a regular one will work just as well.
My daughter and I sat watching absolutely glued to the screen. Your farm is amazing. So jealous. You all look so happy!
Much love from Yorkshire
Hey Neal! Thank you for the kind words! And thank you for watching! Hello from Texas! 🤠 👋
Memphis: Dogs tower over me and the humans pick me up like a doll but I'm STILL TOO BIG?!
🤣🤣🤣
My personal experience raising lots and visiting lots of mini pigs, HEALTHY SMALL mini pig adults (5+ years old) weigh under 100 lbs, usually not less than 60 (seen very few exceptions, my smallest 5 year old boy is just over 60 lbs). Healthy Medium mini pig adults are in the 100+ lb range (my biggest is 150 lbs, over 6 years old, I can barely lift her which I used to do all the time to long distance travel with her). Large adult mini pigs are 200+++ lbs. Yes, some do get over 300 lbs if they have larger genetics and or are over fed to poor health. Never starve your mini pig to poor health either! They have a healthy weight range, and the look varies by body type, genetics. Some have big pot bellies and some don't.
Thank you for sharing! That is great information!
@@WillowRidgeAcres Nice video!

That little girl must have so much fun out there! As a kid I got to visit farms like this maybe a couple times but what a treat to be able to live around those cute animals like that! I had a friend who recently gave me a 1 week old pig I’m absolutely in love with her she has been extremely clingy to the point where she screams if try to walk away from her but if I let her get a little nap in on my chest she will be fine
They can be very affectionate and clingy just like dogs! That’s adorable! What’s her name? How’s she doing now?

Hallo, how is your pig doing now?
1 week old? Are you sure?
When I got mine I let him loose in the yard to graze, little did I know how fast they are when they’re small. I chased him for 5 miles around my yard
Deceptively fast! 🐖 💨
So many people loves Memphis 🐖 God bless you and keep safe😇
Thank you for watching Mikhaela! God bless! 🙏
Very informative. As an auxiliary anecdote, my grandparents got a potbelly pig as a house pet that they trained to use a litter box. He would come and go as he pleased, and would frequently go up and down the stairs- that is, until he got so big that one day he went down the stairs and he could not physically get back up. He was a bit over two hundred pounds. Perhaps potbellies were bred to be a little heavier back in the 90s, or perhaps my grandparents were just mislead by the breeder. In either case you have to be ready for anything if you want a pig as a pet, even ready to re-home the pig, because the upkeep and their temperament and size can get exhausting.
The good boy at 5:39 is the MVP
I have 2 mini pigs and they’re a year and a half old. Got them both same time from the same mother. They both weigh about 25-30 pounds each. They’re definitely growing slowly but surely
Our Memphis is definitely quite a bit bigger than that. But he basically spends all day foraging for grubs and food outside. So he eats a lot. Thanks for watching Alex!
Are they getting enough food?
Those poor babies definitely sound malnourished, breaks my heart seeing a piggy not being fed the proper diet in order to keep them small 😢
@@meganmccampbepl1321 we take very good care of our pigs and we do feed them properly. We have actual mini pigs. They’re not mixed with pot belly or anything they’re 100% Juliana pigs. We paid a lot for them and they’re live inside with us. They stay small! If you don’t know anything about them then don’t assume we’re mistreating them. They’re very happy and always get taken care of.

How much do you think our mini pig Memphis weighs? Take a guess! No cheating by fast forwarding! 😁🐖 🐷
65 lbs
84 lbs

This was painful to watch.. did no one have the basic sense to close the gate?.. or was running the pig on a stressful chase with the dogs supposed to make for a “cute” video?
Poor Memphis probably heard of all the bacon stories. He was screaming bloody murder!😂
so relaxing to watch!
Thanks a lot man! I’m definitely getting one for a house pet! We live in tn and have 12 acres for it to play on. I believe with a strict diet you can control the weight a bit but as long as you don’t hold food back till the point it shows ribs they’re healthy
True. Memphis free ranges on our property so he eats quite a bit in bugs and weeds all day. Thanks for watching!
@@WillowRidgeAcres happy pig!
Holding back food from an animal to keep him smaller seems wrong to me.
Because it is.
Omg! I thought it was just our mini pigs that scream 😱 like we're gonna killed them... we just want to to adore there cuteness that's all... we kinda gave up on trying to hold them didn't want the neighbors to think we're abusing them
Oh yeah they scream so loud!
This pig loves to join track & field huh 😂 but I loved watching this videos

Lol keeping a pig as an indoor pet, I gotta respect anyone that does that!

To have legs that short that pig is fast 😂
When you didnt close the gate the second time he went in there I laughed. Nothing like pig wrangling
Haha! Yeah definitely should have closed the gate! Thanks for watching!
What a beautiful family
Thank you! ❤️
I just busted out laughing hearing all that screaming.
That's where that saying "squealing like a stuck pig" comes from lol
@@WillowRidgeAcres we actually have 8 potbellies here, and 5 of them are 6 months old. They make the same kind of noises when we catch them. I bet the neighbors wonder what the heck is happening over here. Lol! But it seems that all the screaming stops if you hold them by their back legs.
Pigs when kept in a proper environment, would put many many humans to shame.
I’ve had a lot of random animals iguanas, parrots, ducks, chickens, chameleons, snakes, goats, and so on but all my friends say I have a problem because I live in the city but it’s because I always feel so bad because a lot of the animals I’ve had are because they were being sold for food, or they were living with a friend but weren’t in good condition, I found some while driving, or people just trust me to take care of them and rehome them.
Thank you for being such a caring and compassionate person! And thank you for watching!
Cool farm!
Thank you!
Pigs are actually fast AF
He's not that big, and he's adorable!
Thank you for watching! Do you have pigs? 😁
@@WillowRidgeAcres I wish ;( i love them to bits and have come to learn over the past few years how intelligent, sweet, affectionate, adorable and amazing they are!
@@inoutdoor4211 They certainly are intelligent. They do many things that remind me of dogs.
He is to say big. Mini pigs are supposed to only get to 50 pounds. That pig is overweight and it’s as bad as starving.
I live in waller Tx. i wish a farm like yours. I have just a big back yard and i got two sheep and coming soon some ducklings probably i could add a mini pig and in another area i got two dogs but my bullterrier killed a sheep in the past already, i don’t know why he’s so sweet but he has hunter instinct definitely.
Thanks for watching Raul! I'm sorry to hear about your bullterrier not doing well with the livestock. Not all dogs do well with livestock. That's one of the things that make Great Pyrenees so special.
Getting 2 tomorrow!!!

I had a Vietnamese potbelly.. he was awesome.
Thanks for watching!
Holy Cow!!!!!!
He's a big pig! 🐽
Whatever size, they are adorable. I was raised on a hog farm and my Dad treated them so gentle- they were like pets. It always bothered me when he took them to ‘market’ 🙁
Good dogs
Love the farm... Close the gate next time so you don't chase him so much.. but very entertaining to watch..😂
Yes, honest mistake. Got distracted by trying to film the whole thing. 😅
I think this is hilarious we have pigs to Ha Hah Hah Hah
Thanks for watching DeAnna! ❤️
we raised 500 hogs all the time, market weight for a domestic hog is 210# , sows and boars can get pretty heavy but pot bellys arent supposed to weigh that much!!
Thank you for the advice!
Hahaha he exercised you guys
A regular sized pig can be like 700lb.
So the size diffesnce is tremendous.
People have to understand, a mini elephant, is still gonna be huge, but compared to an elephant its small. A mini pig at 75lb is litterally 10% of the size of a full grown regular pig. Thats mini in my book.
Do you leave his pin open? Does he leave the other animals alone?
they are deceptively strong and heavy. My female is about the same size and she ran through a fish net that I tried to catch her with.
HA HA!.. So fun to watch.. AND letting me know we are not alone... We raise Kune Kune and Juliana's. We sell them for pets and also meat purposes. The ones for pets I handle a ton and bring them into the house, harness, and handling. And for sure educate people that call wanting that cute "mini pig".. Which can weight up to 300LBS to be in the mini category.. Ours weigh in about 100LBS males a bit more. PIGS are so darn fun, frustrating, cute, entertaining and tasty ;). Memphis is adorable !
We love having Memphis on our little farm! Thank you for watching!

Good guess! Closer than I was. Thank you for watching! We love the Arms Family Homestead channel!
Have you eaten of though about eating him? They look like it would be lean meat, tender. What is the difference between pigs and mini pigs for meat
Yeah I'm not sure if he'd be good for eating. He's big, but not that big.
Where I'm from we have mini pigs that are much smaller than this, fully grown adults grows up to 5 to 10 kgs max.
But I've only seen black ones, I think there are no white ones on this particular ones.
Our Memphis got very big!
Goat and dogs came by to check on their chubbster when he started squealing.
Haha! The chubbster! 😂
My mini pig is 2 years old hes 70lbs perfect weight for his body been the same size since about 1
I wish Memphis stayed 70lbs!

Considering how heavy I’m used to pigs getting, I definitely consider 100lb
100 percent!

I changed my mind, I don’t want the mini pig anymore😿
Ah man! They really are pretty awesome though! Thanks for watching! ❤️
What kind of dogs are those?
They are Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs.
Hello how are you and your family doing and how are your pets?
We have one in our house just like having a puppy
They do seem to act a lot like dogs
There are some exceptional small pigs on UA-cam--e.g. Hamlet.
Yeah, I think we may have fed Memphis too much 😬
I'm a concerning pot belly pig owner of 8 years and I'm sure you know, you probably shouldn't have had the dogs in there, considering dogs are a natural predator of pigs. Probably made him more scared than he would've been.
I'm trying to learn how to feed my pot belly pigs to lose weight.
I do see those dogs aren't aggressive to him, but I'm sure it still made him(pig) feel uneasy. Let me know what you think. Please
Thought about closing the gate in the small yard? 🤔
Honestly didn’t think about it in the moment, was too distracted by trying to record the whole thing. Obviously would have closed the gate in hindsight. Lol Thank you for watching!
#1 thing people need to know, "mini" or "micro" pigs still get big like a mid-size retriever
So true!
How much do you feed him a day
We feed him 2 cups of mini pig pellet feed and a couple carrots. But he also free ranges on the property all day and forages for bugs and greens.
Do you recommend Mini Pig for Apartment renters ?
I wouldn't recommend it, but I'm sure there are people that do. Thanks for watching!
yes definitely get 2
Your dogs and pig are cute. I wouldn't mind holding a pig.
Thanks for watching! They get pretty heavy! Much easier to hold when they are little 😁
@@WillowRidgeAcres thanks
LGDs shouldn't ever be allowed to chase livestock. There is a FB group with a lot of information regarding training LGDs -- It has helped us a lot in knowing what is proper behavior and expectations for young livestock guardian dogs! "Learning about LGDs" -- There is a wealth of knowledge there! Good luck!
Hey Julianne! Thank you for the feedback. I will definitely check out the FB group. I will say that our LGDs don't chase our livestock and were reacting to us chasing the pig to try to catch him. We probably should have penned up the dogs before we went to catch Memphis but we've never had an issues of aggression from our LGDs so we weren't worried about it. Thanks for watching! God bless!
Agree with you, Julianne, in that this was disturbing to watch due to the dogs, but even moreso due to the fact it took them so long to catch the pig, thus unnecessarily stressing him out as they're cackling and chasing him.
These kinda pigs give the best pork.
My mini pig is 8 months and 85 lbs is that a lot?
And yes my princess lives Indoors I can’t imagine her staying outside
That's less than Memphis weighs at 8 months, so I'd say no, that's not a lot. :) Our Memphis is likely on the larger side since he lives outside and spends his days foraging for bigs and plants to eat. We also feed him twice a day, so he eats a lot! Thanks for watching!
That squeal! Your neighbours must think you are butchering your pigs.
How long mini pig live ?
Potbellied pigs live an average of 15 years. Thanks for watching!
Well mine should be 130 then he's not to much bigger mines around 2 years old
They get big
They probably just grow slower than normal pigs
Possibly!
Next time please estimate the pigs weight by measuring it before putting it on the scale so we can see if the method is accurate.
What breed of pig is Memphis?
As far as we know, Memphis is a Vietnamese potbelly pig. But we brought him in as a rescue. So we aren’t 100% sure.
@@WillowRidgeAcres I have a female that I got as a rescue and they look identical in breed. That’s kinda what I was thinking she was…. And I think she is pregnant 🤦🏻♂️
Picking him up like you did and having your dogs chase him didn't help him much.
This is our first time owning a pig. What’s the best way to pick him up? Thanks!
@@WillowRidgeAcres From what I've seen, the best way is to try and make them calm, with treats, and then pick them up quick (legs supported) and hold them like a puppy, in your arms.
@@inoutdoor4211 I may try that method next time. It's just difficult to pick him up softly like a puppy because he weighs over 100 pounds now! lol
@@WillowRidgeAcresdon't pick them up at all! It terrifies all pigs to not have their feet on the ground. Chasing it with your dogs and exposing it's belly to that pack of dogs as you were trying to hold it up was the WORST thing you can do! And laughing at a terrified animal?! What's wrong with you people.
Why didn’t you bring the scale to him and close the gate???
Honest mistake. 😳
I guessed 100 lol
I have 3 females they are all a year old 2 are smaller and 1 is as big as memphis
I’ve been told you have to limit their diet quite a bit to keep them small
