I took in a trio of abandoned piglets at 3-4 days old im so thankful they took to pan feeding so easily and now they are big sassy girls and have been with us for 4.5 months!
We just got a mini pig. Thank you for this video. We rescued her. She is 4 weeks old and is the runt out of 3. She loves to cuddle. This is a great video for us!!
We found a lil feral pig just sitting on the side of the road two days ago and was having trouble feeding it.i made it your concoction and it slurped it right up.thank you so much for your video.now the lil guy has a better chance at life👍🏽
Thank you for showing pan feeding instead of bottle feeding. I have raised many piglets from as young as 3 days old onward. I started them all on pan feeding, no sponge (just dipping my finger in the milk then onto their mouth and dipping the chin in) I have had the most success with a large feed pan that allows the piglet to stand in the milk. They can feel the moisture with their feet.. Its very shallow too, no more than half an inch deep. The very young piglets seemed to do the best when they were slurping the extremely shallow milk (lips touching the bottom of the pan) rather than sipping the deep milk (they inhale it a bit too much). Under 3 weeks old is tough to raise. Constipation, diarrhea, getting them the correct temp.. its hard. Kudos to you.
Wow! I wish I’d known this when we got our first little piggy! We made due with milk replacer and other food and our little guy grew, but it was so much more work than the goats milk and sponges. We now have 2 little pigs and I’ve learned so much about them by watching your videos! They’re thriving and very happy!
I will always give this advice...Do your research. Learn all you can before you consider buying one. They are smart, sassy, stubborn and live a long time. It can be a decades long commitment. They can be a wonderful pet if you know what you are doing. I hope you are able to find the perfect pig for the two of you!

I’m so glad those sweet babies found you. This happens so much that people don’t realize how traumatic it is for these little guys. Being with mom is always the best option. I know you’ve said it over and over too. A huge mistake a lot of first time pig owners make is they don’t regulate their emotions when dealing with the pig. They are soooo emotional and pick up on emotion immediately. Calm yourself and then handle the pigs. Calm calm calm. A lot of their behavior is simply a mirror of your emotions. If your sad, they are sad. If your frustrated, they will be frustrated. And just like you said in many videos....don’t let them intimidate you with their screaming. Put in some earplugs if you have to, but don’t pay any attention to the screaming. My son just rescued a 2 week old. The baby was left in a box to be discarded and they got rid of his parents. Is it better for him to be with another pig so he's not lonely? We just got him off the bottle onto pan feeding and he is eating well. Thank you for your videos, so incredibly helpful!

I'm kinda in the same boat as you, I do know a heating pad works best, I wrap my heating pad in a towel and my piglet goes under his blankets on top of the heating pad
Im getting a "mini pig" next weekend but she's going to be 8 weeks and she's already over 12 pounds and I just want to know if I paid 2000 for a "mini pig" and its not a mini pig...
They grow until they are like 5 years of age! And paying $2000 is very high for a pig. We paid $40 for our potbelly. Id say he's like 30lbs and 2.5 years old.
I have potbelly pigs and they are very healthy and I think at the vet office they weighed about 8 lbs at about 8 or 9 weeks old when I got there teeth clipped if that helps. I didn't pay that much for mine though. Mine were basically about $100 each. I love my piggies!!! Takes patience and alot of love!
What if they bite off part of the sponge and swallow it? That would be my main concern. Even if they don't yet have teeth, they could clench their gums together.
I hope you didn't get the piglet from a breeder. No breeder should be pulling piglets off their mother that early. But I also hope it is doing well, 9 times out of 10 they don't make it when taken that young.
I got a baby mini pig about a week ago. She's 9 weeks old. I was told she was freindly, but I can hardly get close to her. She let's me scratch her with a scratcher. But other than that she doesn't want near us. Do you have any tips?
Keep working with her. She will warm up to you! They’re very food motivated so give her a couple of healthy snacks when she allows you to touch her. I’m sure by now you have had time to get acquainted with her. 😊
@Holly Gray My husband and I got one in early November 2020 and she had obviously never been handled. With some love and patience she’s not afraid of us anymore and allows us to pet her and play with her. She’s turning out to be a really good girl. It just took a little bit of time and work.
Also, get on the floor with her. Lie down and let her get acquainted with you. Do it in a small room. When she gets near you, let her smell you. Don’t try to touch her. Let her get comfortable just being around you. Once she’s comfortable, offer treats and touch her. When she lets you touch her, give her a treat. Pigs are very smart. She will start to connect treats with touching. It takes time but it’s not impossible. I think once you’ve worked with her enough, she will follow you everywhere. She will love you! 💕
Please dont buy a pig as a pet. They do not belong inside someones home and too many people think mini pigs are real. The term "mini" is in relation to otger breeds that may grow to over 1000 lbs. The smallest breed of domestic pig will grow to about 440 lbs. Please please do not buy a pig as a pet, there are already too many pigs in rescues as it is! Please do not contribute to this problem and purchase a pig that you cannot care for when they reach 60 lbs, let alone 300.
I had only ever had large breed pigs. Never even looked into the "mini" breeds. I ended up with 2 juliana pigs. Never looked into proper diet or any of that stuff. I just put a self feeder in the lot I made for them in the woods behind my house. They have a small creek that goes through one end of the lot. So...all the food and water they want. They are 2 years old right now. The boar as of yesterday was 58 pounds and stands 15 inches from ground to top of shoulders. His belly and back are straight. No potbelly. The sow is not quite 15 inches tall and weighs 54 lbs. She also has a straight back and no pot belly. She has had two litters of piglets. Apparently, for the breed they are about 10 lbs overweight but im fine with that. The vet said if I put the sow on a diet she would have larger litters. Both times she had 4. I'm fine with that, I only have so much room in my freezer anyway. The meat has a very good flavor, but im not putting a pig on a diet. Let it be a pig in my opinion.
I have had one before but we had to get rid of it but I am getting a new one next weekend I am so excited and I have some questions for you if you do not mind. So I got evaporated milk and instead of the rice cereal I got Either their food and we chop it up in the blender thing and we put the evaporated milk in it or we make oatmeal just the original one And put some evaporated milk in it so it is not so chunky do you think that is OK we also put some banana in it
What do you give for the prevention of anemia piglets are born with low iron at 2 to 5 days old you should give them a iron supplement what about B12 what do you do
Hi Aaliyah, I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier. I tell viewers that in situations that require immediate attention or serious health related questions they should not post in comments because, case and point, I sometimes don't see them for months, especially if they are posted to an older video. These types of things MUST be handled by your veterinarian. Five weeks is really too young to be taken from it's mother but I hope your she rallied!
I don't measure because each piglet is different. Don't let them eat until their stomach is over extended but be sure they aren't losing weight either. I have several videos where I talk about healthy feeding. Have a great time with your new baby!!
Not judging. Wondering why you took babies away from mom. I'm about to have a litter of Kune Kune and wondering if I should take some from mom to make them more people friendly.
These piglets were rescues from a woman who wanted to get rid of them. They were 3 weeks old. That being said. NEVER take baby piglets from their mother unless they are in danger of starving because she won't feed them or of being killed by her or other pigs. Piglets need to stay with their mother until they are completely weaned. The chance of a piglet surviving when it is taken from it's mother too soon are slim. If you want to socialize them go out to them and spend time with them. The more time you spend with them the more comfortable they will become with humans. As they get older you can take them away from their mom for short lengths of time. Good luck and enjoy them!
What the heck is wrong with you?! Mini pigs and potbellies are pets! Under no circumstances are they killed for food. You're messed up to even ask that question. Farm pigs are a different story because 90% of them are raised specifically for food, but pigs that are kept as pets? No. It's like asking if someone's dog will end up between 2 pieces of bread. Don't you dare pull the "dogs are different from pigs" because they're not. You wouldn't get a dog as a pet just to one day eat it!! The same concept goes with pigs and any other type of farm animal kept as a pet. Check yourself mate 😤
Pigs? Oh gosh, there are SO many needing homes. Join Facebook farm animal groups local to you, browse Craigslist farm and pet sections. Its honestly crazy how many pigs are out there - I'm being offered them every single day!
Hi I'm a huge supporter of your channel, I have pet piglet, he's 8 weeks old. I bought him yesterday and he hasn't moved from his warm position since yesterday. He has plenty of warm blankets. This morning I took a look at him and he was shivering non stop. I'm not familiar with piglets, I had an audlt pig before and he never did this. Are you able to reach out to me and help me out please?
Everyone domt be like the lady I got my pet pig from "what do they eat" Her. "Have you owned a pig before" Me. "Personally no but I know they eat fruits/veggie/slop Her. "Pigs eat everything" Me. "Thanks very helpful" I thought being a house pet I'd wanna feed it oats something like a everyday food for dinner to keep him at a healthy weight
There is no "healthy weight" for a pig. They have to continuously throughout the day. If you limit their diet to only a few cups a day, you're basically starving it. Pigs can and will eat pounds of food a day when they're full grown. And the lady who sold you the pig is right - pigs DO eat any and everything, including sometimes trash lol but a farm pig can consume a full adult human body in just 30 minutes! This of course doesn't mean you should feed it anything. Farmers use to make "slop" for their pigs, which consists of the families meal leftovers, supplemented with the pig food pellets (because as stated, they have to constantly eat). Some even still use slop. Its not unhealthy for them, and you don't have to worry about any special diet to feed the pig. I actually really don't like this video because the title implies that "mini pigs" actually exist, when they're actually a scam. The smallest breed of pig is the kunekune pig (between 100-400 lbs), then the potbelly pig (between 150-250 lbs) - which is the usual breed of pigs that these scammers use to dupe buyers. They tell you to only feed the pigs a cup of food a day, which is essentially starving the poor piglet to keep it small. This just comes to show you should head the warning "buyers beware" and don't believe everything you see on the internet!
When that lil bebe flopped over from the belly scritches and smiled I DIEDDDDDDD 🥺🥺😍😍
i guess I am pretty off topic but does anyone know a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
@Frank Edward lately I have been using FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)

quick question? how do u know they have eaten enough.
I believe when you can push they're belly and it feels full/harder kinda like a human baby
When they are full👍

I watched this about caring for newborn piglets, but I still have a few questions. How much do I feed a 2 week old piglet(Juliana)? How much weight should my piglet be gaining, daily, weekly? I remember i was about to buy a pig for about 100$ but when it was shipped what came was a meat (the one that you need to cook)

@@AdriRachelle ya i didnt it just had a photo of piglets

Now I gotta know where u got them bc I can't find them anywhere lol
Pigs? Oh gosh, there are SO many needing homes. Join Facebook farm animal groups local to you, browse Craigslist farm and pet sections. Its honestly crazy how many pigs are out there - I'm being offered them every single day!
It makes me sad when people look at these pigs and all they think is "bacon"
Girl I need so much advice.
Fortunately I have a lot of videos on pigs! lol
I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier. Please get him to a vet if you haven't yet. I cannot diagnose or treat. I hope he is doing better
where did u get the pig ? 🥺 i want one
They were rescues.
Omg mines smaller then that and I’m scared He’s not gonna make it
I feel like my baby pig doesn’t like it and shakes his head like almost saying yuck 😭

I live in Wisconsin and I can’t have pigs

Lol! Huge learning curve, and then it's all worth it once you start communicating and understanding one another :)

뭐 요렇게 귀여운 것이 다 있지. 성장 멈추고 이 상태로 계속 유지되었으면 좋겠네.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Piggy pets are illegal in Australia 😭😭😭
Everyone domt be like the lady I got my pet pig from "what do they eat"
Her. "Have you owned a pig before"
Me. "Personally no but I know they eat fruits/veggie/slop
Her. "Pigs eat everything"
Me. "Thanks very helpful"
I thought being a house pet I'd wanna feed it oats something like a everyday food for dinner to keep him at a healthy weight
@@LungI2esin wish i knew all i need is a farm pig and all my problems would disappear in just 30 minutes :))
