- The High Court ruled that a 'prayer ban' at Britain's 'strictest school' is lawful. A Muslim student, who cannot be named, claimed the policy at the Michaela Community School in North London was discriminatory.
The headteacher Katherine Birbalsingh has hailed the judgement as a victory for all schools.
The pupil's mother said she was dismayed at the outcome.

Well done to the school…treating everyone equally!
FREEDOM BABY 🦅🦅🔥🔥💯🇺🇸
Why join a school and then attack the school's rules?
Free publicity???
Because this is the UK and they are UK citizens and under the UK, religious freedom is supposed to be protected. To be barred from practicing your religious prayer in your privacy that affects absolutely no one literally is not just a free speech violation, but a religious freedom violation, as well.
@@michaelregis1015 If praying is so important to them they can change to a muslim school. There are plenty of religious schools.
@@chrysalis4126That’s not so easily accessible for everyone. For example, I am a Muslim without any muslim family members, they wouldn’t permit such a thing aslong as I’m living under their roof.

There are NO CHURCHES in Saudi Arabia.

There has never been a RIGHT to have prayer facilities. It was always upto those running schools, workplaces etc to decide if they wanted to. Many just wanted to be courtious/ accommodating for good relations. But no harm if it is not provided.

go to a religious-conscious school then.

Nobody stopped her from praying outside school or from finding a private place to pray. Teaching about religion - all forms of it - belongs in schools. Practicing religion does not.

UA-cam is a private company and just like the school they have a right to run their company however they like.
Right decision. This is just another case of Islam’s supreme sense of self-entitlement. For some reason, it seems to think it stands apart from all the other religions when it comes to rights and privileges. There should be no overt religious practice in _any_ publicly-funded state school. Religion is a private matter and should remain that way. As a lifelong agnostic, I have zero time for _all_ organised religion, but the one I least trust currently is Islam, as it’s the only one that seems to demand most respect for _its_ values, whilst simultaneously giving least respect for _others’_ values.
Great comment!
All they are asking for is to be able to pray, it doesn't affect anybody else
@@ia796It’s a secular school. _No one_ is allowed to pray.

This is a Christian country.
False, in the 2021 census 46% of people identified as being Christian, 37% said they had no religion, 6% identified as Muslim, and 2% identified as Hindu. Around 2% identified as being Buddhist, Sikh, Jewish or of another religion. There are more non-Christians than Christians and the vast majority of those "Christians" are those who support the same football team as their father and only go to church for birth, death and weddings.
