- A light display celebrating Ramadan was switched on in London's Leicester Square on Thursday (March 7).
The city's mayor, Sadiq Khan spoke before switching on the lights, saying the light display was about celebrating London's diversity.
This will be the second year the city has displayed Ramadan lights, after London became the first major city in Europe and the western world to have such a display in 2023, according to Khan.
Alex Phillips blasts the "creeping erosion" of Christianity for keeping the lights on during Easter.

They should be held accountable, to an independent board for their spending and conduct. Prime ministers should be elected by the peoplnot placed by their party .When A previous priminister is removed or resigns for misconduct .
The offending priminister under those circumstances should not be entitled to a life pension based on their previous wages. We should utilise our ex soldiers who are shamefully homeless throughout the UK to help with immigration border control checks on wagons boats ,and processing immigrants, there should be set targets immigrants have to meet including no single men, they should be financially independent from UK support while their been processed they should ,have all the legal paperwork showing where they've come from and why ,medical records any criminal checks should be carried out before placed in any part of the UK no paperwork no entry. They pay traffickers more to come in illegally than taking any legal way to enter. WHY. Utilise our homeless soldiers. to back up the police. To double the number of force border control staff .

At a white catholic I have no issue with the happy Ramadan lights, non Christians put up with Christmas lights. What I do object to is their display of racism on the streets with the pro Palestinian marches and demanding that we should agree with their anhillation of Jewish people. There would be peace in the middle east if the Palestinian acknowledged and accepted that THEY were occupying Jewish land and stop being the colonisers and had it back gracefully. Went to visit a multifaith prayer room at the Brompton hospital to spend some time in prayer for a friend abd was shocked to find the room converted into a mosque with screen and prayer mars and qritings in Arabic with qurans everywhere and no place for everyone to exercise their faith equally! Good Friday is not a happy day! I do not celebrate Easter on that day (we’re orthodox) but still found it really disturbing! I wrote a letter of complaint to the headteacher and I’ll see what the answer will be after the Easter holiday, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

@@user-k229I am not entirely sure what you are trying to say but I do know that Muslims do not believe Jesus is God’s son and do not believe Jesus died on the cross (or rose from the dead). Allah and God are not the same- Jesus was not referring to the Allah you believe in who you say has no son- Jesus himself called God his father, as well as stating He is God. As a Muslim you do not believe in the redemption of sins through Jesus’ death and Easter has no significance to you. I am of course assuming you are Muslim- I’m sorry if I am wrong. Also, Easter bunnies and eggs have no significance to Jesus- people tie them to Jesus because of new life but I personally do not believe that is what Easter is about. It is about Jesus who died on the cross, took our sins, rose from the dead 3 days later to conquer death. God bless you too and I hope you enjoyed Easter x
