You would think so, but it seems everyone just wants to blame meat consumption.

As a survivor of rectal cancer, I was a healthy vegan prior to diagnosis, I am here to debunk the lack of fiber in the diet argument. There is way more to it than just diet. When you start reading possible causes online, I was in none of the predictable categories. Any changes in stool, I’d highly recommend getting colonoscopy!
How were you healthy vegan if you had colon cancer?
@@Frodoswaggnssometimes cancer is just due to bad luck🤷🏼♀️ You can reduce your risk of cancer by having a healthy lifestyle, but nerver eliminate it completely.
I beat cancer when I went vegan, It's a mitochondria dysfunction, it's avoidable. Problem is people have horrible habits that ruin mitochondria regardless of diet. Thomas Seyfried phD, and look up healthy ways to improve mitochondria, ice baths are the best way to do it.

Many are now saying they were cured of that by the carnivore diet.Dr KEN BERRY tells a lot about it.
Oy.
I single anecdote is not meaningful plus nobody claims that eating plants keeps people from getting any diseases. Diet & lifestyle is 85% of it and genetics are 15% of it. Sometimes doing everything perfect, even from birth, you can still lose. Just like how some people can do everything wrong for decades and still win a long life....George Burns smoked cigars and drank hard alcohol for decade after decade after decade and yet was never fat, was getting around quite well into his mid 90's and lived to be 100.
You didn't debunk the lack of fiber argument at all. A lack of fiber increase odds of various diseases but isn't a promise that you will or won't get some disease.
Use that walnut between your ears!

I have had one colonoscopy and about to have a second. People always complain about the prep… drinking the stuff and cleaning out your colon…while this is no fun, afterwards I felt the best I had in decades! So I am not dreading my next one. My body just felt so light and healthy. So maybe that’s why people do colon cleanses on their own, it’s amazing.
Please people have a colonoscopy when you should, it saves lives. God bless all and prayers for a healthy life.
My approach is to achieve the goal of the prep: get the solids out of the colon. So I drink the prep until the water in the bowl is clear. You'll drink less prep.
I've heard nightmare stories of people gorging the day or two days before prep. I've designed a specific plan of eating less food (and less fiber) each succesive day starting 5 days before (tomorrow is day 1). The day before up until prep will be broth, ginger ale, etc. Prep is the prep drink mixed in lemonade (the nurse suggested that). I anticipate this to be a very easy prep.
I've had my poops made into a calendar, you should see February's, it's like an otter crawling out of the pan
I don't mind the drink cleanse of the colonoscopy, but I hate the timing of the test that causes you to have to be up drinking the crap at 3am.
It’s no fun waking up in the middle of one of these😳I’m scared to death to have another one !
The bit at the end when Dr. Bulsiewicz said he can smell a patient coming down the hall made me so happy. I can smell when a cat has worms (I do a lot of rescue work). People look at me like I’m nuts when I talk about it 😂

Since the colonics treatments, 3 of them, I have never had constipation since. Not even when taking antibiotics. All that happened in my 30’s and I am 76 now.

My emotions can really influence the consistency of my stool.
fascinating
100% - I come from a very dysfunctional family and both my parents were/are still emotionally immature, psychologically abusive and neglectful. When I'm in my own home, I usually have really great, normal, well-formed poos, but whenever I visit my dad, my anxiety levels really starts to rise. If I end up staying over at his place for more than a few days (even when I'm eating and hydrating exactly the same as I do at home), I get THE WORST constipation and I end up with inflamed and bleeding hemorrhoids which take about 2 weeks to recover from completely.

On the subject of fiber. Well advised to have a good mix of soluble and insoluble. I also find Ginger and Coffee speed up evacuation. Lots of water helps. I go through 2 to 3 liters of water a day. People who want to promote a healthy gut biome, look into fermented cabbage and legumes. Good bacteria eats fiber. This is where you get the 60% of bacteria in normal stool. Bad bacteria eats sugar. So cut back on sugar of all kinds.
Unless you're outside in the heat, that sounds like an extremely high volume of fluids to ingest. Google "hypervolemia."
Brooke Shields almost died from it. Make sure you're getting sodium in your diet.
A lot of people are completely dehydrated and don’t know it. Just drinking water will not get the job done. We need electrolytes in our water and most people are lacking these..I started wanding my water and immediately noticed not only the change in how the water tasted, but my skin no longer need any lotion. My lips no longer cracked..In other words, I was no longer dehydrated. Restructure your water and your health will change. There are numerous ways to do this. I use the Iteracare wand and wand my water for 2 mins. You’ll notice your water feels smoother and fattier. Don’t know how to explain it, but it works. Also healed my broken ankle with this device.
Is that why i crave sugar all the time? The bacteria in my gut is sending signals to my brain to consume more sugar :0
Experts say it has to do with brain chemistry. Sugar stimulates opiate-like neurochemicals. Cut out white sugar and fruit sugar if you can. They are unnecessary for a good diet.
I recently cut out meat, but have been eating fish, carbs and fruit/veg. I’ve never felt better and been more regular.

I was there in his final moment when he went jaundice and it was the epitome of suffering I have seen a person have from illness.
So sorry!💙
I broke my femur and got constipated from the painkillers. Trying to poo with a broken leg was the most painful thing ever. I could imagine cancer being an even worse version of this. RIP.
Sorry for your loss 😢
My father died of colon cancer - totally preventable had he just visited a doctor when he first experienced symptoms, etc. I've had three colonoscopies - the first when I was 42. It's so important to have one. The prep sucks but it just may save your life.
Yes, my grandfather, WW2 vet, had bloody stools for like years apparently and didn't say anything or go to a doctor. I couldn't imagine. Those were different ppl, too accustomed to silently shouldering a burden. It's an admirable trait in most cases but regarding ones own health it's a death sentence. He actually survived the colon cancer, but with a colostomy that he lived another 40 years with. In the end renal cancer got him at 86. That went fast. He died within a year of first seeing blood in his urine
What do you even have to do to prep?
Sorry to hear of your loss. That's very sad to hear.
@@KrikitYTYou have to take a prep laxative and drink a bunch of fluid...which COMPLETELY cleans you out, so the doctor can see every surface inside you during the colonoscopy. The home prep is not fun because you are uncomfortably full of fluid and have to stay near the toilet until it's all consumed...and expelled. Thankfully, you typically only have to have a colonoscopy every 5 years.

Being able to clean out your bowels is good for your colon health.
Doesn't ideopathic just mean that they don't know what's wrong with you? In other words they gave up but gave you a pseudo-diagnosis to get rid of you. Did they check your electrolytes? So true. I as a paramedic and you could often smell a GI bleed before you got to the patient.
I work for a functional medicine doctor who believes it's never about covering up symptoms with medication it's about healing from within. Because it starts in the gut!
Almost every patient can benefit from a GI-MAP gut health assessment. Some patients are looking to achieve optimal health, while other patients have been chronically ill and frustrated without a diagnosis for years.
Some conditions that warrant testing are:
Autoimmune diseases
IBS/IBD
Digestive complaints, diarrhea or constipation
Brain fog
Skin problems, like acne and psoriasis
Mood disorders, depression, and anxiety
Diabetes and weight loss issues
Scaring me a little lol I haven’t been to the doctors for my symptoms which I know I should especially since I’ve had problems for 4 years. Started when I was 14, a weird pressure or irritation/inflammation in my lower left quadrant (only one spot) and so I told my parents because it freaked me out and they just kept telling me “you’re a hypochondriac” “you’ll be fine” so here I am at 18, still have this problem. And the past couple months I’ve had acne just randomly appear (literally never had acne even during puberty) so it’s kinda weird. My poop changes from diarrhea to constipation randomly, then it can switch to super soft, it’s random. Maybe it’s just my diet? Maybe it’s something I should be really concerned about? fixing your gut health is key then
Prebiotics and probiotics, alkaline diet. I’d go off all dairy asap if you can. If you eat meat, limit it to lean meats or eliminate for several weeks. Meat takes awhile to digest. Look up Dr. Kelly Turner, Harvard Researcher. Radical Remission. It is about cancer patients, but I would argue that all DIS-EASE, starts in the gut(gut microbiome) and “flourishes” from there.
Unfortunately it doesn't work for everyone, I ate like this for more than two decades and ended up having very bad conditions for my colon.
The only way to correct this was to stop eating plants, and not consuming any fiber, thanks to that now my gastrointestinal problems have improved and I can now defecate like a 4 on the Bristol scale.
A family member also in the same situation, consumed adequate fiber and ate his plants for a healthy life, now has colorectal cancer.

I am 70 no meds whole foods and finally added low carbs 5 years ago and I am good now . but that was scary
I'm a regular bristol 5 and thought it was a bad thing. Had a colonoscopy and everything is fine. The Gastrointerologist never had this discussion with me but yes, I eat tons of fruit and veg and whole grain. I originally thought it was because of the coffee I drink in the morning. Because if I don't drink coffee, I'm a 4.5 or even 4.
I was told by nurse that they could tell I eat healthy didn't know how they knew but that's what she said. I eat dates
You go girl 😅
I do too, and I miss the healthy solid poops of my youth. In fact, on the very rare occasions when I do, I always feel better. I'm not sure that 5 doesn't mean your gut is a bit irritated. Probiotics are supposed to help, but they need to be taken for months... and I keep forgetting.
I love your Chanel, you always have interesting and educational subject. Thank you 🙏 🥰
Riveting conversation. So much so I listened to the pod version twice. Also because the Doctor has a fantastic voice.
I can go through everyone of these poops,I've always had problems with pooping since I was very young.
I through that 😮
In Austria I noticed there is a little shelf in the loos which make examination so much easier for both patient and doctor. How very sensible.
Yeah, we care about our shit here! 🇦🇹 💩🇦🇹
Jokes aside, it took me a long, long time to realize that “our” kind of toilets are not that common globally. Many toilets overseas are just smell-avoiding deep diving pools for what one ate before, some examination often is impossible. Unfortunately nowadays many new built houses here have these unnecessary elegance in toilets, too.
Designed in past to check yourself for intestine worms.
Yes, I found Austrian toilets quite "interesting"!
I went visited Ukraine and saw the poo shelf there as well. I thought it was a soviet thing. It’s ridiculous - you have to clean it after every use or it leaves a big brown shmear and stinks up the bathroom. Gross. Give me a nice big American toilet with a pool of water you can swim in
@@yeboscrebo4451. Thank you for this comment. I now understand the OP meant a ‘shelf’ inside the toilet bowl, lol! All I could think of at first was a shelf/ niche in the wall that many US doctors offices have in their restrooms which have a little door that the staff can open to retrieve one’s urine sample. The picture in my head has now been corrected 😂
Very interesting discussion..
Great conversation
One thing I found very interesting for me was, when I cut out sugar (not carbs, but actual sugar), my poop had no bad odor. It was odorless.
Still don’t know why that was
Probably because sugar is a poison.
Same here. I find if I eat sugar I can smell the sour rot that is going on. Without sugar in my system, there's no odor, transit time is quick and the stool is formed nicely.
It changes your microbiome.
I eat Keto (no sugar or carbs), and found the same thing and I didn't have BO.
I believe its from eating healthy, no weird additives, processed junk or preservatives, just eating whole foods, which are also organic.
Similar with raw-fed dogs. Little to no odor. Kibble fed stinks. Same with dog breath. No doggie breath raw fed
I spent most of my life irregular, not having any idea until 10 years ago that I'm allergic to milk protein, and 7 years ago that I'm allergic to gluten. I'm very disciplined and eat well, so I got regular and healthy quickly. A couple of weeks ago, I tried making sourdough, and had a slice every morning with eggs. It didn't make me feel gross or give me a headache or body aches, so I kept eating it. About a week ago, I noticed I was seriously bloated and backed up, and I cut out the bread immediately. I don't know how I lived like this for so long. We eat junk as kids and think being unhealthy, bound up and in pain is normal. Thank you for this discussion.
Danke
Most people who have a lactose problem are also gluten intolerant!
It’s VERY common problem in Ireland….. my son is both… pro and pre biotics were life changing along with Vit D,C,K2.
@@ruthgregory5599think I'll try that and see if it helps
Try growing a sourdough starter and keep it living as it will improve. Also try letting your dough ferment longer as it will be easier to digest and taste better. A 3-4 day cold rise pizza dough is amazing too.
Most breads are bad, carbs altogether are. Sugar is the worst. So addictive. How to go low card and eat legumes?
So interesting. I drink 8 oz of a concoction of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, cranberry juice and water pretty much every day. I started it because I have GERD at times, but holy cow has it improved my digestion. Didn’t know it but I’m a consistent Bristol 4!
Great information 🎉🎉
