Didn't know about Human Serpent's vocalist. Holy shit, I feel so bad. His vocals were wild, one of the best and most unique in the genre. Rest in Peace, X
I fucking love this video and your list.
Most of the time these lists are usual vanilla takes where barely anything can surprise me, but this is so different, original and refreshing.
Hope you do more videos in this fashion, cause I really liked seeing this one.
Inspired me to work on my favorite albums list during this. Out of your picks Depeche Mode and Abigor also made it on my list.. I do enjoy Deathspell Omega and Death In June as well. I remember when you and I used to talk about Human Serpent back in the day. You spoke very kind words about X in this video and I'm sure his friends and family will appreciate that.
You are slowly becoming my favourite metal youtuber
Super entertaining to watch, very satisfying to see the raw passion and unfiltered opinions on the music you love. keep it up dude!
Really awesome video. Thank you for sharing! I loved hearing your insights into each of the albums and it really made an hour and 40 minute video fly by fast! There are some awesome albums on here, but most of the stuff I was unfamiliar with. I'll have to check a lot of it out. Thanks again for sharing!
Huge surprise on your #8, a very pleasant surprise. I need to spend time to experience the whole thing again. Played the shit out of it back then, love it even now.
Human Serpent was (and forever will be ) one of my favourite bands in general... they were the reason for me diving into more underground black metal and X's work will never be forgotten by me neither as inhumane minimalism is also in my list of my favourite albums of all time... supporting their every release... i still don't want to belive what happpend, Hail the serpent !
Eternal hails!
Χαίρε αδερφέ μου, είμαστε όλοι μαζί σ'αυτό.
ΑΘΑΝΑΤΟΣ.....
Great list Wyatt, and uploaded on my birthday no less. I agree with a lot of the picks here; especially Cynic, Clipping, Kate Bush and Depeche Mode. Nice choices with Portal and Summoning in the top 10 as well.
“Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs” is absolutely one of my all time favorite albums as well.
Thanks for making content for us all!
Gonna restrain myself from writing an essay of a comment but glad your trip was great and love your picks! Currently on Akitsa but I agree fully on regarding clipping! Not that big on their "self-titled" but I absolutely prefer them over DG, favorite hip hop group currently! As always keep up the great work, as one passionate music nerd to another.
Love your videos. Thank you for this one especially.
Great list! Thanks for your content.
Bro I'm in a marathon of your videos, this is like the fifth video I've watched in a row, and as you mentioned in this one, you introduced me to Intestine Baalisma and oh boy you're so so right, the band is quickly becoming one of my favorite Death metal bands, if not of all time, and you have pretty interesting choices right here, so man, you have a new subscriber, keep the good stuff!
Being female and likely a bit older than most of the subscribers, I'll leave you to guess which were the two favourites of the four I own (clue: not Akitsa or Human Serpent) ;-) I love the fact you rate Kate Bush's 'The Dreaming' so highly, especially as at the time of release and to some extent still it's considered her "gone mad" album. But what can be bad about a woman making slightly demonic donkey noises in a song? You and Big Boi from Outkast are correct about this album.
how old are you?
@@kunns123 49. Mental age about 15 though. 😀

@@joolz666 Mad respect ! 🤘
I had that Gunfighter Ballads album cover hanging on my wall for years - wild to see it pop up here on your list. Mad props to you homie, this list is sick.
If it weren't for this video I probably wouldn't have listened to Through the Mirror, thanks a ton for recommending great, overlooked music! That albums one of my new favourites
Such a fantastically good list. When I visited NYC for my 21st I was listening to Violator constantly, and whenever Enjoy the Silence or Personal Jesus comes on the radio I get flashbacks of being desperately lost in Manhattan on my birthday.
you always manage to challenge my musical taste and widen it. 🤘cheers
This is a fucking awesome list. Did not expect to see the blade runner ost! Love the NIN PHM in the background. Picked up that LP today actually. 👍🏻👍🏻
awesome video man, great albums here i'll have to listen to all of them eventually
This makes me want to take to the time to actually sit down and listen to some albums to make my own list lol. I've always been someone who listens to individual songs for the most part so it should be an interesting experience.
Relatively new to your channel Wyatt, but I love your content. Your passion and encyclopaedic knowledge of music as well your very amiable presenting style it's really cool.
I hadn't heard of the overwhelming majority of the albums in your list, but as a regular listener of heavy music, I often check out your recommendations. I'll definitely be checking out Venetian Snares and Dragged into Sunlight. They sound very interesting!
Damn dude,i just found out about the Human Serpent, and i fking love it,freakin masterpiece! Thanks dude \m/

what up with the dislikes already ? I typically don't like videos but gotta give you a thumbs up cause you seem the only if not at least one of the very few who has no shame but just Pure joy for the art of music even though you favor metal music. take care bro Yellowstone is always a place of blissful memories.
Imagine wasting so much time disliking random videos
Cults m8, dirty joyless hateful cults
Idk how I didn't see this in my recommended seeing as I'm subscribed but this definitely will be worth the watch.
Holy shit dude, this is probably the most diverse (and my personal favourite) kind of these Top 40 albums I've seen, and there's so much good shit! Kate Bush, Giles Corey, Bethlehem, even fucking Naked City! Duuuuude! l flipped it when I saw them up there! Torture Garden is my personal favourite, but man, that debut album was my intro to that kinda music, I was about 18 at the time and, like you mentioned actually, it was so absolutely batshit insanely good that I couldn't help but laugh at how crazy it was, the best kind of crazy. Man, I've only been watching your stuff for about a week, but you're easily one of my favourite UA-camrs now. Also, definitely gonna check out Human Serpent now, never heard them before this video, but I love and appreciate the sorta tribute talk for X, I'll make sure to check them out and see if I can't spread some love of their music to some of my friends here in Oz. Awesome stuff dude!
Can't wait to watch this 🤘 tomorrow,, in the morning, when I get home from work
Wasn’t expecting to see death in June on that list. Very nice addition.
Great video.. I will definitely be checking all these I haven't yet heard. also if you like Depeche Mode, a similar modern act is Drab Majesty. latest two albums are 10/10

Monotheist is so amazing
Props to you for picking my favorite Last Days of Humanity release
Damn some gems here thank you !
great list man, really good choices. also, i found about the berzerker pretty much the same way as you, funny to remember that :^)
The most important album of my life is from a hidden gem from Northeast Brazil called Odes ao Oculto from the band Hecate! This album plays a paramount role for me and until today is the album that I listened the most. These folks sings in Portuguese, the lyrics are very well written. They use the keyboards quite well at least for me. With good melodies and sinister atmosphere. This band is well respected in the black metal scene from Brazil. I saw them playing live once in Sao Paulo...my favourite live even ever!!! Great list man!! Lots of good stuff.

2 - Alice In Chains: "Dirt"
1 - Dream Theater: "Metropolis Part II: Scenes from a Memory"
Much respect for including Breach. Here's your 800th like.
Hey Wyatt, ive been a sub of yours forever but this might be my first comment on your channel. I had to go back tonite and find the video that introduced me to Intestine Baalism. Thank you for that. They are my fav Japan band just above Sigh and Coffins. Thanks again Wyatt.
I am so happy Giles Corey made it on this list. It's a low fi indi folk kinda album that all black metal fans would love if they gave it a shot. Blackest bile is without a doubt one of the greatest tracks ever written.
Saw Dragged Into Sunlight on Mayhem's 2017 De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas tour. Unforgettable performance for sure.
Needed this in my life
massive thumbs up to Deathspell Omega,
Kauan, Clipping, Death in June, HIM, Kate Bush, Cynic, Venetian Snares, Portal. Great list

That’s a really diverse list, great picks as well
fantano ahh list. Still great though
I haven't heard most of these but I can definitely agree that Peste Noire's first album is just amazing!
It was within the first 5 or 6 black metal albums I ever heard and its still one of my favourites.
Track 7 is absolutely beautiful, I've listened to it countless times.
And yeah the vocals are beautiful too, so raw and powerful.
If you like knelt rote definitely listen to vermin womb, honestly I prefer them to kr but they both ply around with similar styles of black/death grind, and Ethan’s vocals are so brutal
Amazing band
Dude you don't know how happy i am you mentioned Breach. They were hardcore yes, but were border post metal like Neurosis. I'm listening to a band right now called Mass Worship, imagine Peter Targtren production on a Breach album with extra chugging
40 top albums! I'm trying to listen to enough music to even be comfortable having that many albums in my tops. I have a top 24 list and the goal is a top 50. I'm going to save this to my watch later in order to come back to make a note which albums I might want to listen to later, you listen to a lot of music I've liked but haven't dove into as much as I'd like (i.e, most forms of metal and neofolk).
Great video mate. Good to see some Endon love. Have you ever thought about doing a favourite film list?
Love you Wyatt.
You the best.
Couldn’t agree more with #4. Goddamn is that entire album able to stick in your head
My top 10
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine (i am really curious about your opinion on the band)

Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Russian Circles - Memorial
Elder - Reflections of a floating world
If these trees could talk - Red Forest
Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile
Isis - Oceanic
Neurosis - Fires withing Fires
Botch - We are the romans
I am happy for any recommendations based on this.
I love the passion for music you show in your videos. I now have 50h + of new stuff to listen to
Great picks all around. I absolutely love the bass tone that Brian Cook has on the albums by Russian Circles and Botch.
My favorite albums (no order)

Scar Symmetry-Pitch Black Progress
Woods of Desolation-Torn Beyond Reason
Amorphis-Circle
Kvelertak-Kvelertak
Solstafir-Otta
Grand Magus-Triumph and Power
Mgla-Exercises in Futility
Haken-The Mountain
1 - Acid Bath - When The Kite String Pops
2 - Lord Belial - Enter The Moonlight Gate
3 - Misfits - Static Age
Top 10 for me...
1. System of a Down: Toxicity
2. Elliott Smith: New Moon
3. Nick Drake: Five Leaves Left
4. Aaliyah: Aaliyah
5. Jeff Buckley: Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk
6. Boduf Songs: How Shadows Chase the Balance
7. Fiona Apple: Fetch the Bolt Cutters
8. Lonnie Holley: MITH
9. Dead Or Alive: Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know
10. Cibo Matto: Stereo Type A
Dont wanna be that guy... but im curious why grace is not above my sweetheart the drunk, an album full of unfinished songs that Jeff probably never would have wanted to be released?
Have you heard the David Tibet lead vocal tracks on But, What Ends? They're often not included on newer releases/spotify so a lot of people haven't. IMO Daedalus Rising is one of the best tracks on the album.
Favorite album of all time:
Between The Buried And Me - Parallax.
1 and 2 because they are definitely one album to me, even though they were released separately.
Pissed out of my skull and having a re-watch the chat you gave on regard to x was really touching mate. Glad to see you give somewhat of a personal response to a band.... Very cool, and you sold him as a musician perfectly.... If we didn't get carried away emotionally with our music.. then what would be the fucking point :)
It isn't dress rehearsal for tk max mannequins after all
Your love keeps me smiling Wyatt ☺️
Only Wyatt can make an hour and forty minute long video and still be entertaining/intreating all the way though.
1: cannibal corpse - butchered at birth
2: cypress hill - iii (temples of boom)
3: gbk - judeobeast assassination
4: outkast - stankonia
5: misfits - legacy of brutality
@butchetedalive respect for Outkast - Stankonia and Cypress Hill - Temples of Boom. I was a massive fan of Outkast - Aquemini but at the moment I'm loving the experimental double album Speakerboxxx / The Love Below.
That Butchered at Birth slaps. One of my go to Cannibal Corpse records. I love that Meathook Sodomy track 🤘🏾
@@Samoan_Metalhead Meathook Sodomy is the best intro track on any Cannibal album imo. First minute or so is slow but still lets you know what you're in for, and without warning it's full steam ahead
Will you do the best 50 bands list too, i know you did it few years ago, but i dont find it on youtube anymore, by the way great list tho

Clean is my favourite DM song, and has to be one of the best closing tracks of any album. The only better closing track I can think of would be Decades on Closer by Joy Division, which is probably my favourite album of all time.
Nice list. Surprised you put Cascada's debut album above Minas Morgul, thougj
the Breach album is fucking sick, great recommendation, never even heard of them
Great list . most of the albums are metal albums.
My top is the next:
10. Beherit - Drawing down the Moon (1993) Black Metal
9. Ulver - Nattens madrigal: Aatte hymne til ulven i manden (1997) Black Metal
8. dISEMBOWELMENT - Trascendence Into the Peripheral (1993) Death Doom metal
7. Weakling - Dead as Dreams (2000) Black Metal

2. Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at the Dusk (1997) Symphonic Black Metal

10: Cursive: the Ugly Organ
9: Balam Acab: Wander/Wonder
8: At the Drive-In: In Casino Out
7: Modest Mouse: The Lonesome Crowded West
6: The Smiths: Louder than Bombs
5: Neutral Milk Hotel: IAAOTS (yes I know...but idgaf it's a legit masterpiece)
4:Yanni: Live at the Acropolis ( my grandmother turned me onto this when I was 8 years old... was my first favorite album of my life)
3: Yeasayer: OddBlood
2: mewithoutYou: A-->B Life
1: mewithoutYou: Catch for us the Foxes
Talk all the shit you want about my picks idgaf. Is what it is
#27 is amazing. I feel the same, I thought I would love post-rock, but while it´s a pretty good genre, I just love GIAA. Specially the first two albums.
Interesting that the Blade Runner OST made the list while Ulver‘s Perdition City or Lyckantropen Themes didn’t. Always thought they were taking those synth noir aesthetics and putting them into a direction of music you generally enjoy more with those two albums.
Watched the entire video making Banana bread. Mad fucking respect for having the Blade Runner soundtrack here. I’d say if I were to pick an OST that would undoubtedly be in my favorite albums it would be the “Drive” soundtrack.
Such an incredible experience. I’ve never heard music like that and it got me invested in the different kind of “Wave” music like Synthwave, Retrowave, Vaporwave.
Brooooo I own the Drive soundtrack on vinyl and bump that every so often before bed and it’s perfect chill jams
@@wyattxhim It really IS! That album got me through many College projects and study sessions.
Real human being and a real hero. Drive's soundtrack is beyond amazing
Watching this makes me want to make my own favorite album video down the road in the future but I'll probably get made fun of for my list, it's not the best
i was obsessed with that daughters album for months i swear to god, it's so fcking good
it makes me smile that I was able to guess numbers 1 2 3 and 4 correctly and in the right order
I'm So glad I bought the Bethlehem discography box set 'Hau Ab' when I did.
Violator is a great album indeed but I think my favorite would have to be Black Celebration. It’s cool how so many metalheads love Depeche Mode.
Black celebration is definitely the most underrated DP album I’ll agree to that 👏🏻
@@wyattxhim Music for the Masses would come in second place for me, then Violator, then Some Great Reward. It’s hard to pick favorites because there are songs on each of those albums that I love just as much as the next. I reckon my favorite DM song would have to be Blasphemous Rumours.
Enjoy the silence has always been my favorite by them just because its the most anthemic song ever created lol but to rank the discography its
1. Violator
2. Some Great Reward
3. Songs of faith and devotion
4. Music for the masses
5. black celebration
6. Construction time again
7. Exciter
8. Broken Frame
9 Speak and spell
10. Ultra
11. Spirit
12. delta machine
13. playing the angel
14. sounds of the universe
@@wyattxhim oh yes, Enjoy the Silence slaps. It was my favorite for a very long time, but for some reason, when the crap live action Ghost in the Shell came out, they not only royally screwed up my favorite anime of all time, they also decided to use a cover of Enjoy the Silence as the main theme. And for some reason, it made the original song by DM blow up all over again, so it was being played on the radio over and over and it got to the point where it lost a bit of it’s original magic for me. (I was working in a restaurant that played the radio constantly so I couldn’t just turn it off lol)
@@wyattxhim not sure if you’ve heard of them, but there is a German group that is very influenced by Depeche Mode. They’re called And One. They have a few really great songs. My favorite being Killing the Mercy.
You may not like "progressive" music, but I would definitely recommend Green Carnation's Light of Day, Day of Darkness. It's an hour long track about this man grieving the death of his son. Neofolk, goth, doom, and progressive.
My son, seeing Endon was a surprise. That album destroys butts. Produced by Kurt (of Converge) too.
are you into any of the emoviolence or skramz side of hardcore?, btw nice list
I don't know if you mentioned them, but
Negativeland - escape from noise
Try listen to this album with knowing nothing about the band and the album.
An amazing experience IMO
Gotta give that one 11 time zones out of 11. It's not even funny.

15 - The Mission - Gods Own Medicine
14 - Midnight Oil - Blue Sky Mining
13 - Frank Black & The Catholics - Dog in the Sand
12 - Motorhead - Ace of Spades
11 - Dire Straits - Money For Nothing
10 - Opeth - Ghost Reveries
9 - The Bolshoi - Friends
8 - One Hundred Thousand - Zodiac
7 - Carcass - Heartwork
6 - Vektor - Terminal Redux
5 - Gojira - The Way of All Flesh
4 - Death - The Sound of Perseverance
3 - Opeth - Blackwater Park
2 - The Killers - Battle Born
1 - Gojira - From Mars to Sirius
Super off topic but what are your thoughts on Panopticon? His newest album has shot way up on my all time favorite album list and is becoming one of my all time favorite artists
Dictius Te Necare is sick as fuck indeed!!! Masterpiece.
Yep, their best album. Period. And the perfect music to listen after movies like Diabel.
You know talking about outlaw country from the Marty Robbins part there is one modern outlaw country artist you might enjoy a lot Colter Wall. A very distinct yet undoubtedly country voice with simple yet effective instrumentation
Oh I’ve heard of him and he’s definitely carrying the spirit of outlaw country for present day fans!
Welcome after long time

Have you ever listened or talked about Opera XI?.... Well, if not, I highly recommend Opera XI 's The Call of The Wood album. My #1 all time favorite album
Here we go baby
fuck yes Portal - Swarth, probably their most mind blowing album
I also love igorrr when I first listened I thought it was all made on a computer ,and I made everyone at my old job listen to veg soup I don't think many of them liked it but it was fun for me
watched the entire video, very entertaining. we agree on 3 things and only one of them would even make it into my top 50. crazy how that works. I agree with you on Summoning. Kate Bush and Dragged into Sunlight also agree with but not top 50.
I'm sorry and I know you said to f off with your own personal picks but how can anyones top 40 not include "Buena Vista Social Club".
and burzum for that matter :)
wait you didnt even include weakling either now that I think of it... or hecate enthroned... ahhh !
OR THE CURE! Damnit.
or Tool :)
