FordTechMakuloco hey Brian I have a 2000 expedition and the suv was in a reck and I’m pulling the motor and trans for a spare to out in my f150 same year and same engine code but the problem I’m having is the theft light is flashing crazy and the truck cranks but won’t fire, is it the pats system locking out the fuel pump and is there a way I can hack it or re set the system without getting a new anti theft system ? plz help me out with your good knowledge
2013 ford fiesta air bags came out cause I hit a small animal and it cut off and the anti thief light is on it want start or try to start how can you fix it ? Please help
Dude! I love you I have this problem for years... asked people to jump me, change the battery and starter... nothing seem to fix this... Today is the day...I won't be stranded anymore... Thank you!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! bought a 1999 ford taurus wagon yesterday, was running fine until I went to start it this cold morning and it wouldn't turn over. Tried everything until I watched your video and it started right up!
Yesterday, I used your informational video to repair my Expedition. She runs like a new truck once again! Pro tip: I used a folding massage table, placed at the front driver's door, to lay on, so I could work in comfort.
Awesome this is exactly what I did to start my explorer yesterday not even knowing it! All I got was a no start for two days and then I put it in neutral to move it out of my garage, decided to turn the key after I had attempted to jump it in case it was my battery, and it started. I had recognized that my shift lever was loose but not realizing it was a problem. Seemed to be fine until I started coming up with the no start problem. This showed me what’s wrong. Thanks man!
Just spent 20 minutes after work trying to start my 98 explorer. This video got me home to drink a beer. It's 101 degrees outside so I thank you for that.
This is the only video explaining this problem and the fix...I was about to change the ignition switch after already changing the starter solenoid..the 50A fuses to the ignition switch battery feed....and your video stopped me in my tracks and sure enough the bracket was way looser than yours in the video...once both were tighten the difference was felt immediately on the shifter and the 99 150 started right up. Thank you very much ...you saved my ass. I thought I have an electrical and transmission problem at the same time and the tightening of 2 screws changed all that in an instant. God Bless you brother
Excellent video!! No start in park or neutral problem fixed!! When I looked under the dash of my 2000 F-150, both screws were loose with one about to fallout. Five minutes later, my truck starts as it should. MANY THANKS!!
You just saved me! I am traveling in my E450 over a thousand miles from my house, I am in a parking lot thinking my starter is the problem. I just put it in neutral & it started up! Thank you so much! Do you see how many people you helped? 🤩
Man, thank you! You just saved me some money. I was fixing to replace my starter. I was sitting here waiting on it to stop raining. I just figured I would watch a few troubleshooting videos until it stopped raining. And that was exactly what it was.
@@CarolinaOats I had the switch (held in with 2 torx bolts) that is underneath somewhere near the knee area behind the dash portion. I took off the plastic parts that go where your knees are and then I remove the little switch the toggles back and forth and put a new one in. But now I have to adjust the keyhole
I found one of those T30 bolts on my floor driver's mat and didn't know where it came from until I watched your video. The shifter was very loose and couldn't find park. Thank you for this. Now the shifter is like new.
So my truck has been sitting for over a month because it won’t start so I watch 40 seconds of this video and go start my truck . Omg. I was gonna spend/waste money tomorrow on replacing an alternator. Thank you!
Brian...thx for all the Ford support... it's a shame they don't send out updates on this stuff... that's ok...we have you...thx again... John... central Wv..
Thank you so much man ,I was having a hard time for 2 hour checking fuses relays ,codes ,as soon as u said neutral I put the phone down and started right up ,shifter super loose
My E350 suddenly didn't crank or start and I was stranded at 10 pm 40 miles from home. Luckily I came across your video and sure enough it started in Neutral. You saved me from being stranded! Thanks a bunch!!! 😁
you are the man. got to the point within first 60 seconds. paused video, walked over to truck, threw it in neutral and it fired right up. thanks brother
Wow, I'm so grateful for you bro. I have a 98 Ford Windstar & I was leaving a store just a moment ago and the car randomly wouldn't start yet again. I pulled this video and you got right to the point and taught me that if I put the car in neutral it'll start. I tried it & BOOM it worked like magic. You are awesome. 💯💯💯💯 GRATITUDE
This video was God Sent!! Thank you!! I was at my wits end .. spent all day trying different things, testing fuses, etc. I was about to give up! I saw your video, put it in neutral and it started right up!! I yelled man ..
You are da man! This video and others are ON POINT! I am happy that your YT videos are so widely watched and have brought you so much suce$$. You have helped me keep my 99 Expy on the road for over a decade. Now she is a classic, a solid runner, and a smoooooth daily driver that I continue to enjoy. My truck is a 25 year old vehicle that tows our toys as we travel, and gets work DONE! Great Channel, and THANK YOU!!!!!
You rock brother, great video! I'm pretty sure this is what I'm dealing with on an E-150 van. Healthy battery, new starter, no crank. The battery voltage doesn't drop when I turn the key to the start position, so I know the starter solenoid is not doing anything. The only electrical component between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid is the park/neutral safety switch on the transmission.
Bro... you just fixed my car. Just watched your video and went outside and wiggled my gear shifter. It started. Been to three mechanics they didn’t fix it. I thought it was electrical and had something to do with an alarm system,. Now I’m gonna watch the videos on how to fix it. Thank you.
OMG! Thank you so much for doing this video. I had to leave my F-150 at work because of this issue. It was the screw under the dashboard console. You saved me from going to the mechanic.
This video helped me get home this morning! Thank you for putting this info out there! I literally just had the battery and alternator checked out and was drawing a blank on my issue! A true blessing for me on this Easter Sunday
Hey, I just discovered your channel due to this "sloppy shifter" video. I'm really impressed with the quality of your footage and accompanying explanations. Thanks so much and know your appreciated! 😊
I got towed home when I could’ve just done this… you saved me from getting a new starter though. Thank you so much for this video. I never would have thought of doing that. It doesn’t bother me that much, don’t think I’m gonna fix it yet, but you got my truck running! Thank you!
Had a similar problem with my very first car, a 1968 Mercury Montego. I had to reach over the column with my left hand and pull the shifter up to get it to start. Also sometimes had to hang my foot out the door and roll the car front or back to get it out of park, been using my parking brake ever since.
Loaded up truck this morning, jumped in to start my day and PLOP!! Truck wouldnt start. Found your video pretty quickly, Thankfully. Voila! Fixed it. Thanks!!!!
Before seen your video I tighten the shift cable torque bolts and tightened up the shifting. On re visiting this problem I forgot about the time I moved the shifter around park up-and-down and it started. None the less I thought it was the solennoyed freezing up after checking the starter relay and the cables to the starter. Your video reminded me about the shift linkage problem so I reconnected the battery, put it in neutral and it started right up.
I was stuck at the grocery store in the parking lot for almost 2 hours, thinking it was my battery. After I ripped the thing out and walked all the way to an AutoZone to grab a new one and back, I realized that it wasn’t it but your video saved me from spending more time in the grueling heat of the sun. Thank you so much!
You saved me a lot of money(just bought a 01 f150 for work good deal and only 150k original miles)... the shift bracket was loose, the shifter itself was not to sloppy. I opened up the steering column and the bushings seemed almost new so i think they were replaced not too long ago. But yea thanks for the help.
Thanks for the video, my 1998 ford ranger was having the same problem, didn’t know at the moment and tought i was gonna struggle for a good time to make it turn on, took me 5 minutes to search for your video, and didn’t even took long on the video to find out that i could turn it on in neutral before i even start to work on it.
Thank you dude I’m serious I have a 99 Ford Expedition that had this problem I’m 18 and this was my first car and I was really down for a sec I already spent 170 on the battery just a couple days before this really helped you earned a sub
Thank you for the video. I was stranded and didn’t know what to do. Put the vehicle 🚗 in neutral and it started up .!!!! You are doing a good thing making these videos thanks again.!!💯
Ford will make you loco. Excellent in and looks like a relatively easy fix. Enjoy all your videos and tool selections non matter what vehicle they are performed. Thanks much 👍👍
Good stuff. My truck was acting up for a bit where it would click and then the whole dash would go out. It happened very intermittently.Ended up just being the battery connections
BINGO ! It was the shifter on my 2003 4.6 V8 f150 . I guess after 346k miles , this was a pretty easy fix! Took it out of park then put it back in park , bam it started right up. Thank you so much for this video. I can't afford a new vehicle or high repair costs.
Thank you so much! Was about to call a tow, stuck in a metered parking space downtown on a Fri night. I was able to get it started, will see if I can fix it tomorrow morning or will drive it to mechanic.
I had this exact same indication with my 97 F150 but it was due to a recall issue with something I believe was related to the interlock electronics. My shifter was tight but would start in neutral. We checked around and found a blown fuse. While my son was replacing the fuse, I happened to be looking right at the brake reservoir and noticed a puff of smoke just as my son said the fuse blew again. It looked like a short in a connection caused by brake fluid on bare wires. I think this was was an issue with fires with these models and I was lucky.
TY. I'm an old school retired mechanic.. Thanks for the refresher. My 2000 Explorer Sport has this problem. Owned it since new. Funny thing is, I drove it the other day. Parked it and today no start.. Yep the shifter is just sloppy enough to cause the no crank. Subscribed
Thank you!!! My 06 Lincoln Mark LT was not starting, did a jump, rotated fuses and switches, and then in less than 5 minutes of watching this video I found out the problem! I switched to neutral and the truck started right up! Now my mechanic has something to go by and you saved me $150 for a tow!
After a year of searching I found a common problem that was the cause of my no crank no start situation. I want to credit Mitchell Farms for posting the video to his channel. First the whole picture. Without warning my truck started to run rough,Then would not crank. All my gauges started going all weird, pointing in different directions. I lost all power to accessories in the cab. No door ding, lights, radio, exc. i then purchased a code reader, and got a pats transceiver fault. Long story short, there was a ground wire behind the driver side panel under the dash that was completely rusted through. Once I drilled a new hole, and grounded that wire, everything came back to life, and is running smooth. Prior to that I checked all fuses, replaced battery twice, replace the fuel module on the rear axle, and watched countless UA-cam videos looking for the solution.
Couldn’t understand it, couldn’t even put up the window! Turns out that the new battery was too low, after charging that and moving the gearshift from Park to Neutral, it started right up! Thank You! Thank You, Thank You!😊
Thank you. I pray for the rigth video to watch to resolve this problem. Then I found this short very well explained video. Thanks for helping people this way. 👏👏👏.
i used your tip to run my explorer 99 as i had forgotten the keys inside while the truck was on but hood open, i unplugged my alternator to turn it off then after i opened the doors it would just click, until i tried to turn it on on Neutral , thank you!!
I believe this is the same thing that's happening to my Ford areostar van! It just started having cranking issues! I thought it might be the battery but I but a brand new battery in and it did the same thing! Now I can check this out and fix it! Thanks for showing us how to fix it!!!
Hey man, this video was super helpful! We got that fixed then it cranked and stopped cranking. We changed the starter and now it runs, but it runs roughly. Anyway I can send you the video and so you can tell me what you think? Thank you!
Great video and info!!! Was hoping what you've counseled on was my problem... but unfortunately, it is NOT :(. I've got a POS 2003 Ford Windstar. Last month, I ended up driving this bad boy back and forth from WI to DE, PA & NJ without an issue 🙂. So yesterday, out of nowhere, it would NOT start. I turn the key and get one-click then nothing. All the dash lights come on but the engine does NOT turn over. Starting has been without issues to date.
Thank you this is very helpful. It just happened, I had difficulty starting my truck, I followed your instructions, see I am a lady driver here, now it's up and running again.
I ran into that before, oil change places always have hard time to start,in fact I helped a lady in parking lot with that problem, she was calling a tow truck for her e250 lol
A lot of the no start's I had with my 98 F-150 were when the starter cable would corrode and break off. Still loved that truck though, drove it for 13 years and would have been more if not for NYS salt on the roads.
Great video, my brother had that problem and it ended up being the shifter cage and pin (I'm sure I am not calling it The right part lol) but it was in the steering wheel
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. It was such an odd day starting my 2000 Ford Expedition. First thing, as I was leaving my house, I turned the key and it tried to turn over, tried, tried , tried and then it started. It got pretty cold the night before, so I figured it was just cold. Leaving my first job a couple hours later, I turned the key and nothing, did not even try to turn over, radio and lights not working. I popped the hood and jiggled the battery cables. As I was doing the positive, I noticed the lights come on inside so I tried to start it and she started right up. Four hours later, leaving my second job, radio and lights all working but she would not crank or start. I tried doing that thing where you put a screw driver across the two nuts, in the past that had worked, but not this time. Tried a couple different jump starter, no luck. It would have been impossible to get another car in position to jump it that way. The second night she was down, I spend the whole night looking at UA-cam videos on this issue, including this one. I went back over there with several items to try what I learned. Nothing was working but I had not tried the start in neutral thing because my shifter was not even close to being as sloppy as the one in this video but when nothing else worked, I had to give it a try and she started right up. After that I was able to start her in park. Everyone tripped on this solution, even the guys at the auto parts store. You have no idea how great it makes me feel to be a 60 year old single gal who can keep her car running or starting

i used your tip to run my explorer 99 as i had forgotten the keys inside while the truck was on but hood open, i unplugged my alternator to turn it off then after i opened the doors it would just click, until i tried to turn it on on Neutral , thank you!!
U just saved me thank u I’ve been out of a car for 4days cause my car wouldn’t start I watched some many videos Nd nothing was work til now 🙏 thank u
you just saved my life! I was trapped in the middle of nowhere until I saw this, thank you so much
You just made my day. That was exactly what was wrong with my 1998 Ford Windstar. Thanks for sharing.
What did you replace to fix it?
I believe this is the same thing that's happening to my Ford areostar van! It just started having cranking issues! I thought it might be the battery but I but a brand new battery in and it did the same thing! Now I can check this out and fix it! Thanks for showing us how to fix it!!!
Bro good job. I knew my shifter is shit.
I tightend those hex bolts and it took 50% of the slop out. Waiting on parts.
But thank you. On point!!!!
I was about ready to haul my 03 Ranger to the salvage yard when I came across your video. I put the truck in neutral and it started right up.
So happy to see this video today... I’m going home to fix this tonight! Thanks.
This was exactly my problem. I thought I was about to have a huge electrical fight! Thanks so much
Had this same problem on my 95 Ford cargo van. The first problem and solution fixed it first try.
I was just thinking that it looked like you went out on your own, glad things are working out fir you.
My man, I did an interoir upgrade on my 95 Flareside on my channel, and you saved my bacon as to why she wouldn't start back up.
Nice video we'll explained. 90' and early 2000's Ford's had a lot of problems beside this issue.
I appreciate you vídeo so much! Right to the point and we’ll explaining. I looked all around you tube and this was the best and the one to fix my van!
Holy crap thank you so much, I got the most recommended videos and they didn’t help. Thank you so much for this, god bless you - Cristian Garcia
WOW was just about to call AAA from Walmart in my 92. This was my issue; thank you!
2022 and thank you for this I was having the same issue and did both repairs and fixed the issue.
I'm having exactly that problem. Thanks!!
Hey man, this video was super helpful! We got that fixed then it cranked and stopped cranking. We changed the starter and now it runs, but it runs roughly. Anyway I can send you the video and so you can tell me what you think? Thank you!
You just saved my day today I appreciate you so so much
Great video and info!!!
Very cool that sometimes there are just “simple” fixes. 👍🏼
Thanks. 🍻
Thanks man for posting this video you have earned a new sub
Thank you this is very helpful. It just happened, I had difficulty starting my truck, I followed your instructions, see I am a lady driver here, now it's up and running again.
I ran into that before, oil change places always have hard time to start,in fact I helped a lady in parking lot with that problem, she was calling a tow truck for her e250 lol
Thanks so much for your video no telling how much it saved me. Now to look into getting the column fixed
A lot of the no start's I had with my 98 F-150 were when the starter cable would corrode and break off. Still loved that truck though, drove it for 13 years and would have been more if not for NYS salt on the roads.
Think I have fallen to this in my super duty
Also had to replace the starter cable connector on my f150 cause it corroded
You have no idea how great it makes me feel to be a 60 year old single gal who can keep her car running or starting
thanks dude ! saved my ass on a saturday when my mechanic wasnt available
