God I've always wanted this kit. Aegis's transformation is so weird and awesome. It's interesting that the first form of athrun's Gundam was this unique transforming suit while the justice and ♾️ justice were basic in comparison

I always felt like this was an underated kit and MS. I also love that your not like most people on here who just post the new and most recent stuff over and over again, where 6 people have posted and reviews the same model kit. You choose what kits you want and just review them and I have a lot of respect for you and one of the reasons why I enjoy your content. Keep up the great work!

So apart from some shortcomings the aegis is definitely a thick success. But I swear to God the minute you had the aegis clap on to the strike my brain immediately went to this:

Such a good fight and I'm getting the feeling that Zaku 3 is slowly losing his place as the bulky one lol. Over all fun review of the remake Aegis and oh great you punched the self destruct code, that means it will blow up after the video. Again awesome review!
aegis' head, beam sabers plus the squid transformation are one of my favorites of all kits
If you think this transformation is bad, just wait for the RG Force Impulse. The transformation may be brilliantly engineered, but the design of the alternate modes make the Wing and Victory Gundam''s alternate modes look good. The Core fighter and the backpack is the only legitimate transformation in the entire mobile suit.

the build and transformation is bad or like just the design in general? because I feel like the new rgs hold up better with a mini mg frame then the old plastic rubber frames that falls apart like it was taped together (rg destiny, rg zeta, etc). (except 00 rgs and astrays)
@@RW1. The original design, most likely. The show designers were pretty lazy when they came up with the Impulse's combination gimmick, it just looks like a broken MS posing.

The Aegis Knight's structure is so different from the regular Aegis that I would be legitimately amazed if a new Aegis comes out and it shares parts with the Aegis Knight.
This was my 3rd ever gunpla model, and has been so much fun to pose, though those side binders are very annoying and I broke the joint on side flaps on one of the feet. In the years since acquiring this model, I've come to understand why the rifle is facing backward in MA mode: There's a camera in the butt of the rifle, which would serve as the only means of visual navigation as all the head cameras are either covered or blocked.

GAT Seed series MG kits generally have decent frame that will hold to time. The Aile Strike is overly tight on joints on 2 seperate kit, the only problems with the 2.0 freedom, justice, providence is the thigh peg joint likes to snap on mainly the freedom but they all share the same frame. So I personally don't doubt they will ever just fail to hold the pose you leave it in for the years to come. GAT frames > Freedom 2.0 frame > wing mg frames > Age > any other jet zeta style frames >= then you have unicorn frame.
This was my first gundam kit, probably not the best idea for my first ever gunpla to be a MG and no less a transformation unit. I built it immediately after my purchase from my local hobby shop. At the time it hadn’t been printed in a while. Like $220. It was amazing til I broke both feet because I can’t Japanese, and didn’t see I was supposed to pull something in the calf to unlock the foot for ease of transformation. I now have all MG seed remaster kits and he’s the only one I need up on the stand.....gotta get another kit. But I’d highly recommend this kit, it was a fun build and the poses were despite the tough articulation and very weak components. Just be careful with the feet.
Love the engineering put into this kit and the aesthetic definitely matches up with the Ver Remaster Strike. With the Aegis Knight in RE:Rise I'm crossing my fingers for a HG Revive Aegis to go with the Strike 😅
here's hoping Aegis gets a new HG, since Build Fighters gave Kazami an upgraded suit based on it to replace his Justice Knight (that foreshadows the launch of the new HG Infinite Justice), so hopefully we'll get one soon.
I never understood the reasoning for Seed to use the mm system for their beam rifles. It makes no sense how thick the barrel is when we're comparing beam weaponry.
I’m guessing is that since SEED is among the lower end in terms of technology, they didn’t have a material that had a strong enough resistance to completely withstand heat of extended fire from a beam rifle without warping, so they had use more material to compensate. Thus the thicker barrel.
actually it makes perfect sense it is not the thickness of the barrel it is the inside diameter of it the beam emitter in the weapons would come in different sizes just like physical ammunition comes in a range of sizes also barrel thickness would likely also be a thing that would be considered when engineering the weapon as it would serve as a wave guide for the beam and probably absorb some energy in the form of heat meaning the thicker it is the more often it can be fired without overheating at the cost of adding weight to the weapon
Regardless of what sense it makes, why is SEED the only series to make this distinction?

Being as I'm not an MG collector, and the Aegis is pretty low tier on my list of GAT-X series Gundams to collect... eh, I'll wait for the eventual HGCE version.

I just got this model recently, it looks awesome but i’m running into loosing joints problems. The joints doesn’t stick on very well and they are so fragile. Literally if I try to rotate the arm or the leg, they just fall off. Is there anyway to fix this problem? I’m new to building gundam by the way
I built it a few weeks ago. One of my most beloved MS of all time. It should've been an "Upgrade" MS and not serve as a basic MS.
Does the kit still hold up after some time?I am debating this or the blitz and while i do like the aegis more i dont want a floppy kit
Im currently building mine ao far the only issue im having the main body back fin wont connect properly
The both side skirts of Aegis, I have to paint silicone shock oil in order to rotate for the transformation or like it’s flying. But only put about a tiny bit of shock oil.
BTW, guys just built the kit. Be careful with the toe joint. The heel is a bit stiff, so positioning the toe upward could break it
that gap on the knee flip up detail I was able to avoid on one knee by not removing the whole nub on one of its connections. I had noticed it by the 3rd knee and tried somethin different on the fourth
God I love how gorgeous this kit is but THOSE DAMN ANKLES.
The question you should ask is.
1. how did kira survive the blast?
2. How did it's able to self destruct when the battery is low.

2 explosives are not hi-tech you dont need power to set them off it can be done through a chemical reaction or even by physical means like an impact primers in ammunition for small arms have mercury fulminate in them and reacts to impact that in turn ignites the power in the casing the same thing can be done to set off high explosives requiring no electricity just power stored in a spring to drive a hammer into the primmer
And why kira did absolutely nothing when athrun set the self destruction mode..like it takes ages to complete and he just chill in the cockpit
Is it me or Strike's beam saber still active and its PS armor still on while Aegis turns grey? Kira could've cut the leg.
The first mind blowing transformable unit I ever seen because compared to other transformable unit Aegis is one hell of weird transformation. Is that a rocket? A plane? or just a giant squid?
In Gundam SEED Re manga, Aegis receive upgrades for atmospheric flight and it got big wings that make it look like a plane. Google image it. Now imagine that Aegis in squid form travel 3x faster and activate its four beam sabers and start to pierce EA ships like a bullet. Isn't the giant squid moniker belongs to the Regenerate? That thing looks like a corvette when in MA mode (people often mistaken it for ship) and it is an Aegis on steroids. That thing is huge, the largest MS in CE prior to the X1 Destroy.
His flight mode is pretty unique.

the thing that really bothers me tho is how the strike has literally no damage whatsoever after the explosion while the aegis is literally annihilated into peices. I mean, i get the explosion came from inside the aegis but hey, it's literally in contact with strike, and that explosion should be like a bomb level explosion strike should be destroyed as well.
Technically the Aegis was out of juice so the explosion power was limited, even though they animated it to make it look huge.
The Strike was destroyed as well, don't know why you said there was no damage, the later one that appeared in the show was a reproduction.
What's more crazy is the Impulse surviving the nuclear explosion of the Freedom.

They really need to go back to the drawing board and make an improved version 2 of Aegis. Some of the parts on mine fall off easily. If you want Aegis in it's Mobile Armor mode, I recommend getting a second model specifically meant for that mode.
I have a question: is the Eclipse Gundam made out of the X-300 frame? I remember Kakarot-197's "gundam lore" video talking about the frames of the G-weapons, and that specific frame was made for transformamble mobile suits.

Honestly, I wouldn't call this new Aegis bulky, It's tall, but the bulk is all in those shoulder pads.

Easily the best form the Aegis ever got in plastic model guise. Most of the problems it has are just inherent to the design. While the MG can be persuaded into holding a dynamic ground pose, and it's light enough not to do the splits under its own weight, the heels are just too small to make ground posing easy, and the pronounced rearward weight bias doesn't help. Still grateful this kit exists though, as the Aegis Gundam is one of the most unique transforming MS designs out there, warts and all...and this thing nails it.
Ran out of PSA to power the beam cannon, so he self-destructs the machine instead, killing Kira for the first time. Yes, Kira died twice in the entire series, but he came back just fine, but not without outside help.
Oh, and tell Athrun that Kazami did his beam cannon firing better. He became a funnel.
I just built this kit last july, its very flimsy for me, but I love this kit.
i always hated Aegis because of that skirt like on its hips. But overall, i love it especially when transformed.

Ramius KIA due to no Kira disable the GINN, Dearka killed, Archangel sunk. Yzak killed in the Cyclops' blast. Athrun and Cagalli have the same conversation. Natarle is given the Dominion. Azrael after a heated discussion is persuaded to capture Victoria MD complex to test the new machines and the druggies. Operation is successful since most ZAFT forces are destroyed in JOSH-A. Clyne and Canaver wants answer from Zala about Spitbreak but Zala have them under house arrest. Lacus protest against Zala's decision and end her relationship with Athrun. Athrun is given the Justice while Freedom is given to Heine. Rau sets his plan in motion as usual. Countdown to destruction begins.
While the MGs are technically better; i'd prefer to have the 1/100 HGs of Athrun's squad as those aren't as pricey and are more fun to play with. Granted this opinion comes from owning both iterations of the Buster. Plus the MGs mess with the design making them not show-accurate when the HGs are.

If only the "Remastered" Gundam SEED anime was animated like Cross Ange or the modern CG mecha anime (the decent ones like ones from Sunrise, not the crappy ones like Berserk 2016). Because I would rather watching a graciously animated CG mecha fight than watching tonnes of recycled animations 🙄🙄🙄
